I stayed at the Westin with friends for our high school reunion. We had requested adjoining rooms when we made reservations many months in advance. Not only was our request no honored, but it took 4 hours after registering to even get our rooms (at least they were on the same floor) and had to dress for our reunion event in a public restroom. When we finally were assigned rooms, we were assured that our luggage would be delivered. But when we returned to our rooms, after 11pm, no luggage. All staff members were extremely kind and concerned, but clearly overwhelmed by the number of registrants at one time. Given that this is a convention hotel, this lack of preparation is unforgivable.

Very pricey you got to pay too park I'm staying at your hotel but if I'm here getting on a boat ride I don't have to pay wow 28 dollars a day to self park and valet 39 dollars a day
Not as great as it used to be. The new art deco style is odd and unwelcoming. The only place to get lunch now is down at the pool bar. Garbage in the hallways for a couple days.
Diplomat Resort is one of the best hotels! Beautiful, clean, high end with a two level pool, ocean front and very friendly staff. You feel lika a King in it's Kingdom!
The Diplomat Property is beautiful all around. Awesome series of pools right on the beach. What made this stay so special was Charlotte from the Concierge at the Diplomat. I received a text from Charlotte literally as I was getting off the plane at the Ft Lauderdale airport. She asked me what she could do to help during my stay. I was looking for an early check in for a special occasion. Charlotte really went above and beyond to make this stay incredible for this special occasion. I can not recommend the Diplomat highly enough!
Went for my birthday it was a one night stay my daughter had paid for. Upon check in I was to only get my key but was told I had to pay $75.00 if we did any damages to the room which my daughter had already paid and i try to explain that to the guest service lady that checked us in but she didnt want to hear that it was paid early from my daughter so i gave her my credit card to charge it. I had called my daughter and told her and they said they will put it back on my card which five days later it still not on my card. But my daughter got her money put backbon her card. Once in the room because um a supervisor of housekeeping old habits hard to break I inspected the room for the price she paid for this place i would would of gone to a motel 6 the lay out was nice but we had a king room three bath towels one was cloth no hand towels no bathmat standard to a king would be three bath towels two was clothes and two hand and a bathmat which we didnt have either. The shampoo was used water spit from pass guest was left on the mirrors the old spray and wipe the tub must be used there because the tub had a slow drain. The bed was comfortable and sheets where clean the handle to the fridge if try to open the handle comes off. The espresso machine should have three caffeinated and three decaffeinated i had all decaff so i drank it anyways but the sugar packs where used and empty in the bottom of the coffee tray. The view was beautiful could see the guitar from our room only thing wrong was the last guest forehead imprint was left on the window right along with my other finger prints plenty of dna up in there. Once checking out i was tax and charge $35.00 resort fee that was never tild ti bgh us upon payment or check in plus the $35.00 self parking so $77.00 to check out. Motel 6 with pool would if been great. The layout of lobby was beautiful just sad our room wasn't as clean as the lobby, might consider the houseman to train the housekeepers how to clean.
Location is fantastic. The rooms are very nice and homely. Right up there and had sea view - 1a. But find a hotel in this price range should z. B. WLAN offer free of charge. Pool area was very nice.
Nice resort. I attended a conference at this resort and it was a great experience. Only concern I had was the parking. They only offer Valet parking for guests. Although a public garage is across the street for self parking also.. Parking in general is expensive and this is the only downside of attending conference at this resort.
Waaaaaay to expensive for beverages....I understand it's a fabulous place with alot to do for kids...but charging $52 for a pitcher of a basic drink is crazy...and charging $10 for beer is crazy....we spend plenty to stay there and enjoy our time we don't need a get raped on drinks....same with chairs and umbrellas....they charge way to much for guests staying there to get an umbrella....
With such high recommendations for this hotel I did not hesitate to look into it, mainly for the couple massage packages. Although the hotels atmosphere and amenities were amazing I was truly upset and disappointed when it came time to check in for our massage. Turns out when I booked a day in advance my rep gave me false information regarding prices. When I checked in my price was almost $200 dollars more than what was confirmed on the phone. That is truly unfair to me and my partner as we were coming from out of town to experience this hotel. Since this was a mistake on their end in giving false advertisement on top of that the cancellation policy was a bit much giving that they take half of your money if you do decide to cancel. It was definitely a win, win situation on their end not the guest(s).
Beautiful hotel with a stunning lobby and very large pool - even has a kid water slide area. The rooms were spacious, modern, and extremely clean. Staff was friendly and accommodating to all our needs. I highly recommend staying here if you get the chance.
Too pricey, it is not what the Westin used to be. Food is expensive, parking fee is crazy hi and everybody wants a tip$$$. They really need to remodel. I love the Hilton brand, and o think they need to take a closer look at it. BTW, I am writing this from my Hilton Garden Inn room in Charlotte, great hotel next to the Nascar Hall of Fame and the convention center.
We love to stay here. The pool is never overcrowded and there is no reason to leave the property with all of the amenities including the best restaurants, shopping and the beautiful Hollywood beach right outside.
Attended a business event at the hotel for a day, but didn't stay overnight. The event staff were all very friendly and professional. I didn't get to eat at the event, but I did have lunch at Port Royal beforehand and it was fantastic. Pricy, but good. I had the clam chowder and their burger. Both were really well prepared. The Diplomat looked and felt amazing. I'd love to return some time for a "fun" trip.
The hotel has a nice and friendly staff. The decor is plane and boring, the beds are uncomfortable and the rooms are hot. Monkitail has outstanding food and great ambiance.
While dropping off a PAID CONFERENCE CENTER Attendee at the Diplomat Convention Center there were cones placed which blocked the exit. No attendant on duty. I made sharp turn to use other exit and curb damaged underside of my car. Cones had been placed blocking me from other exit. I waited and attendant appeared to move cones. I told him it was not nice to block a guest. I told him I would file a report. I sent an email to Diplomat website the next day. No response yet.
I gave it 2 stars cause it's near the beach... other than that get a normal chain hotel... I stayed at a Sleep Inn & Suites the next night for under $100...the room was nice, bigger, beds were bigger, ac worked better AND just the room itself had better amenities... anyway yea save yourself the money you don't need to speed these prices just to be on the beach.
5 stars, staff are friendly and helpful, rooms are spacious and clean, the pool and beach view is excellent! As for the food, it is delicious! Breakfast and dinner there is something for everyone and the food was cooked perfectly to everyones order. Would stay again.
Great hotel. Just far enough away from South Beach to be a family location yet close enough to get in trouble. A good kind of trouble. The hotel is clean. Staff is fun and very good.
The front desk (Jacqueline & Shade) as well as there manager (Denitsa Georgieva) are extremely rude, unfriendly and extremely unaccommodating! In the end I had to contact HR to resolve my issue with the hotel! I had a pleasant stay however they need to improve who they hire for there front desk! It can quickly turn a enjoyable vacation sour!!!
Just spent one night on August 18th, 2018, based on reviews online and my sisters recommendation. Now I have worked in Hotels for over 20 years and traveled alot. I have stayed in 5 star hotels, condos resorts etc. I have never written a bad review of a any property. Because I respect the hard work the gods into maintaining a property.
The is first time that I will give a negative comment. Because nothing about the room was up to quality, the bathroom doesn't drain, the water in the shower leaks into the WC floor. Thank goodness no one slipped and fall.
There is no ventilation system in the bathroom..Spots all over the glass doors in the bathroom, the shower head didn't shut off all the way, The toilet was not cleaned properly.
As norm if I travel with my parents we get a suit or two separate rooms. But since it was only for one night we shared the double bedroom. Overlooking the city with not a safe balcony access. My Mom hit her toe twice stepping out...the charge was extra ofcourse!
Now let's not get into the room rate..my sister paid $167 on Expedia booked on same day and us.. the hotel rate was not the Expedia one!! And they got a ocean balcony view.. the furniture was unkept and dirty.
We called the maid back in when we checked in because the sheet had stains on them. For the size of room and housekeeping issues..NOT WORTH THE PRICE!!
Since, we were in a hurry to get back out to a cricket match. I did not have the time to inform the desk.
When we came back from the match the hallway had a bad odor of rotting garbage. Which was still lingering the next morning!
Chalked it up just a bad experience since it was only one night. But if you book at The Diplomat stay away from room 2360 and the entire floor.
And double check all the rates they present online. Diffinetly not worth $300 a night.
We are locals and just wanted a night away and everything and everyone was amazing. We will be returning for another staycation within the next two months.
Booked an ocean view with early check in, one day, 15 minutes from home. No early check in and we got a view of a building under construction. So basically rented a room with no view... So much for a sunrise from the balcony that doesn't open. Over promised under delivered. Wasted money.
Dirty floors, crowded hotel, rooms without dressers. Beach is small. Food overpriced. Building is nice. Rooms small, but adequate. Great cityscape views.
Nicest hotel I have ever stayed. The only thing negative is the prices of the drinks and restaurants but they have a expensive menu and are comparable to the area. Everything was nice and clean the hotel smell fresh. I watched maintenance touching up paint in the room beside me. They even allow me a later check out at noon complimentary. I have asked other hotels charge up to 100 dollars additional. They have a kids club for your children. They have a state of the art workout facility. The resort fee may seem kinda high until they provide beach chairs (no umbrellas add cost). I will stay with them again.
Huge hotel, quite fresh (looks like remodeled), big rooms and ocean view. Non polite phone concierge, only 1 receptionist during rush hour, crazy prices in lobby small shop (3 small Fiji + couple bananas 24$), no minibar and lack of kids menu options. To be improved
What a beautiful resort to stay in while you are either on vacation or you just want to get away for the weekend. I live on the Gulf of Mexico so sometimes it's nice to go to the other coast to enjoy the many things that are available to do. With that said, this past stay was more of a headache than a relaxing getaway. This would have been a 5 star review if it weren't for the valet staff, & management. I have stayed @ this resort several times, spending quite a bit of money, so I know what to do when making reservations. So I called to make sure that my vehicle, that is over $180k was going to be parked on the "upper deck", so I had easy access to it & could keep an eye on it. After being told 4 days in a row that they were going to make sure that they parked my vehicle in the front of the resort, at the same time I was told that it was full. So why two different stories? Because they, management & the valet-doormen DO NOT COMMUNICATE with each other. I know this doesn't seem like a big deal, but on top of having a refrigerator that had to be replaced 3 times, while I waited several hours each time for this to happen, I had the stress of bouncing back & forth between management & the doorman about the parking debacle.
So to the management, PLEASE TAKE CARE OF YOUR LOYAL CUSTOMERS, AS WELL AS YOUR 1ST TIME VISITORS, REMEMBERING THE PHRASE "THE CUSTOMER IS ALWAYS RIGHT", BECAUSE IT SEEMS LIKE IT IS LOST IN THE GENERATION OF TODAY.
The bellman never brought up my luggage when I arrived and when I went down to the lobby he stated he did come as I see hom leaving to go home at 10pm. SMH, not good business. He lied to me in my face
Elegant, luxurious, and family oriented. The staff is very professional and always willing to help.
This resort is a great place to get some rest and relaxation! And if you re an active vacationer it s got many activities both on the beach and in the property.
Wether you re looking to relax by one of the warm fires around the main level bar in the evening, or grab a lunch by the pool side bar and restaurant called the Playa, or would like to get a morning workout in at their stunning hotel gym, you will have no shortage of things to see, do and experience during a week or two at this resort.
The beach activities include paddle boarding, Jet-skiing across the waves, and lounging in one of their elegant cabana s to mention just a few options.
Other facilities available at this resort include a full spa, a quaint ice cream parlour where the ice cream is made in house, a mini waterpark section for children, and a multi-level pool that always seems to be at the perfect temperature no matter when you jump in for a swim.
The resort is one of Ft. Lauderdales best. It is located right on the beach and has a large pool area. It also has a waterside play area for the kids. The Diplomat is great for corporate events, weddings, and other celebrations. They also have great restaurants like Monkitail, Diplomat Prime and Point Royal.
