My room was not to the standard I would expect for a resort of this caliber. My sheets and pillow cases were dirty and the room smelled bad. Staff were responsive to my concerns and brought clean linens. The smell would not go away and there was not another room. The last guest likely left wet laundry laying around everywhere because it was a mildew smell. There was also a lot of construction going on when I visited so I couldn't get much sleep before this process started again. I did not find this place worth the money I spent to stay here.

Despite this being one of the most expensive hotels in all of miami there was no organization at all. not one server passed by to take our order in over half an hour. then I had to get up and order myself at the bar after about another 30 minutes I finally received my order of a cheeseburger and then I was told I could not be seated in the outdoor restaurant area even though i had placed an order at that very restaurant and had paid the mandatory tip, however an exception would be made this time. to top that of then the manager came out and tried to to tell me to move to my poolside chair even thought the restaurant was only at half capacity. Would not reccomend attrocius experience will not be coming back.
1 star just because some staff is really trying to give a good service and the restaurants had good food. If you came with your kids and planning to enjoy the pool or the ocean keep this in mind: - no shade in pool area! - plenty of shade and room at the cabanas, if you are willing to pay $650 a day... - if you want a chair at the pool you better wake up at 6am, through a book or a shirt on it and declare it yours before someone else does... oh, and no need to worry , it will still be yours when you finally decide to hit the pool after noon...Took me 2 days to realize that's what's going down! Music at the pool was a nightmare: long solos of havy metal guitars in full volume... over all: not recommended at all!!! If you plan on coming here without your kids, i would ask : why???
We really enjoyed our recent stay at the hotel. The pools are amazing and the beach was wonderful. The view from our balcony was spectacular! The reason we didn't give the hotel five stars is the fact that the bathrooms lacked sufficient insulation and privacy, you could hear the minimum whisper from the bathroom. It is a beautiful place, but unfortunately because of the bathroom we will not come back, unless this issue is fixed. Thank you.
Nice resort, good location. Over priced food and drinks. With a $30 per day resort fee, they should not charge and additional $20 per day for an umbrella.
Very nice location and service. However, when reserving my rooms they were supposed to be close together but this was not honored. Also, 1 room has a dysfunctional air conditioner and fridge. Though to be fair, we checked in late at night so the best rooms were filled.
This is the first time I've spent my effort writting a bad review. We're arctually pretty easy going, until they ruined my 7 year old:s birthday. No cake, no candles...good job teaching kids diversity..... Chuck E Cheese's does it so much better.
!!Additional fees Parking = $37 (garage) or $44 (valet without tip) daily. Resort fee = $30 (basically some towels) a day. Far from the Hollywood Beach Boardwalk!!
We stayed at this hotel for 7 days and it was a good experience, not a great experience, but good. The hotel looks very nice in the pictures and in real life, it is still pretty decent. We booked two rooms and one had problems with the alarm clock/radio and electrical outlets near the bed not working. There are shutters that separate the bathroom area from the main room area, they can be opened from the main room, which is a little odd, but in the shower and toilet area, there are frosted glass dividers/doors. The rooms have nice big TV's. The rooms were not cleaned very well and there were peanuts and other things left behind by previous guests. Room service trays would sit in the hallways for 24 hours or more. 18% gratuity is automatically added to everything and the prices for drinks/food are really high. The upper pool area is in pretty rough shape, with tiles popping up and in some places, the black marble is cracked or missing which could be pretty dangerous. The lower pool areas are nice. There are no lifeguards by the pool areas and no supervision. There were teenagers throwing regulation size footballs across the pool splashing water into people's food and drinks and hitting kids. The beach behind the hotel got pretty crowded. The beach has many chairs and cabanas and then there is a pretty steep decline to the ocean. They wanted $250 a day to rent a cabana, which is insane. The staff at the hotel could really care less since they all get their 18% gratuity added automatically and service is very slow. The only restaurant that is worth mentioning is Bristol's across the street. There is no on-street parking, so you have to use the valet or the parking garage across the street. The Valet was $44 a day and they expect a tip of course. The parking garage across the street is $37 a day if you use a credit card and they will conveniently bill you $37 every time you enter the garage. Yes, they will bill you $74 if you enter the garage twice in one day. If you use your room key to enter the parking garage, then they will only bill you $35 a day no matter how many times you enter and leave. The hotel lobby has a glass pane ceiling and while we were staying there, a pane of glass fell out and crashed to the floor. Obviously that is an intensely dangerous situation as there are many people in the lobby area sitting and walking around. There are at least 20 panes that have x's on them that need to be replaced, so move quickly through that area. The area across the street has the same type of ceiling and there are at least 40 panes that have fallen and are missing. Overall, the hotel is nice enough to consider it 3.5 stars and I would consider staying here again, since we did have a good time despite the cost, condition, and service. You absolutely need a rental car to get to the boardwalk and the other beach areas. Consider looking at hotels closer to the boardwalk since there are far more options for food and entertainment.
It is a huge construction, with a separate part for the Convention Center. His style borders the thin line that separates the spectacular from the tacky. It is located on Hollywood beach, which is far worse than Bal Harbor-Sunny Isles Beach or even Fort Lauderdale. In fact, Hollywood and Dania are lower-level locations, less "glamorous" on the coast, so it will hardly be a first choice. As for the service, say that it leaves a lot to be desired for a supposed 5 star. They charge $ 24 for a lousy glass of wine and it is served without coasters or accompaniment and the ticket inside a plastic cup, in short, pathetic. Sincerely, it is a totally dispensable hotel that feeds from its Convention Center.
A very nice hotel under new Hilton ownership, except for that renovations are not stated on the hotel website. While the property is very crowded, the amenities are fantastic with two pools (one amazingly warm), a spa whirlpool, and a fair beach. While it is smaller than other beaches in the area, the sand is soft and the water a good temperature. The rooms on both sides of the hotel have good views, as the expanse of Florida and sunsets on the west side can be stunning and ocean views to the east are always a pleasure. With the rooms just renovated, a modern, clean look is now throughout the hotel. Overall this is a very nice hotel with the small kink of construction not being stated on the website.
Pricey, but very well set-up and maintained. Friendly, helpful staff and a wonderful atmosphere. Have been here a couple of times and have no complaints.
Great place to vacation, or for a business trip. Newly renovated throughout every room, general space and restaurants. Dine onsite in the restaurants off the lobby level. There's even a private Karaoke room catering to just your group. Or, cross Ocean Drive and check out the dining venues of 2 restaurants, play ping pong, chess, or catch an ocean charter, or Water Taxi. Water Taxi Tickets are sold at the Diplomat Hotel & Stirling Real Estate office located next to the hotel in the Alexander Towers, to the right of the lobby desk. 3505 S Ocean Drive, Hollywood Beach.
Lots of extra resort and parking fees to calculate into expenses but it was clean and a great location. Kids pool and slide closes crazy early even on Saturday afternoon.
Beautiful hotel right at Hallandale Beach, Hollywood. We had a our room on the 22nd floor, with balcony and a nice view over Miami. Good standard and clean rooms. Easy access to parking accross the street, but a tad pricey with 35 usd a day. Pools are nice and cozy but the water quality was filthy. Being at the beach was a pleasant experience. During the day its a nice family hotel, but from 8pm, the lobby and pool area is not a child friendly inviroment. We had a pleasant stay. Watch out for the 35 usd a day resort fee
Great place to stay. Infinity edged pool upstairs/street level then grotto pool down stairs at beach level. Rooms are spacious and comfortable. Plenty of eating locations, not inexpensive though.
horrible experience; they nickle and dime you for everything. Fees after fees; I had a wired internet fee but my tablet cant plug in wires of course, so they wanted to charge me another wifi fee to use my device. Parking is a joke and dangerous; I'm from Boston so I'm used to complex garages but most visitors don't know how to so are constantly going against traffic cuz they are lost; they really want to U use valet to tip their employees but it doesnt matter because you get charged $20 for self parking anyways.
The Hilton Diplomat is currently under some final renovations. The refresh looks great. My wife and I stayed for just one night and had a partial ocean view. Staff were super, texting us to make sure everything was ok during our stay. The setting on the beach with multiple pools is hard to beat! We enjoyed sitting by the pool and walking on the beach in front of resort.
Great experience at this hotel! Service was excellent and very friendly staff. The room was very impressive and clean. Multiple pools and great Beach views and access. We plan to stay here again at our next trip.
Extremely beautiful but the attention of young people who are near the beach during the day, is not expected. They do not treat the public with courtesy. In the evening they let me know the hotel, go out to the beach and come back, totally free, but in the day they did not allow me to pass from the beach and the young man who attended me was rude to me.
I did not stay in the hotel, but came here a few times as it was somehow associated with one of the places that I had stayed at for a bit. So, I can only speak to pool area/related amenities and the beach... It's just OK when considering the area. I've been to Miami Beach many times and stayed in several different locations and will say that there are much better spots for lounging on the beach. Also, the pool area and amenities were just OK as compared to others that I've stayed at or visited. They did have a gym, which again was average, but better than nothing. I note that this was during the "off-season" so it's possibly better during the more popular times to visit. Certainly not bad, but I'd say average at best for the area.
Just a couple things to share from my experience here. We stayed here for two nights after our cruise we took. This is a nice hotel and pretty good atmosphere and the rooms were nice. It was a good price for the room but the prices of everything else was outrageous. The bar is WAY overpriced. We went to breakfast in the morning at the restaurant in the hotel. It was buffet style and was $200 for our family of four. Also they have a concession stand outside and a hot dog is $8. That is way too much for a hot dog. If you wanna go to the beach, bring your own chair and umbrella because rental of chairs and umbrella was also way expensive. Well I guess you could go to their large pools they have. Nope, they are way too cold to enjoy. I went in to the pool for 5 minutes and was shivering the whole time. Also their hot tub was way too hot. I couldn t enjoy it either because it was too hot. Just a couple other things I noticed too where that the lobby has a glass roof so you can see the sky but it was covered with leaves and dirt and you could barely see out of it. Also there are window washer platforms hanging halfway down the building so I always saw cables looking out my room window. I hope this hotel makes a couple changes because it could be really nice if these things were fixed.
Loved the diplomat. Our room was gorgeous and the ocean view with balcony is definitely worth it. Do yourself a favor and load up on snacks at Publix that can be kept in the fridge in the room. Aside from that the guac is delicious.
Great stay at a beautiful hotel! The room was gorgeous and in the 32nd floor. We enjoyed the views and all of the amenities of the hotel. The staff was helpful and considerate and did not give us any trouble. Will stay here again!
Great hotel with lots of things to do (infinity pool is heated which is great). Great ice cream shop but a little pricy. Rooms are nice with nice bathrooms and great beach views. Kid area is fun. Parking garage is across the street but there is a walkway so you don't have to worry about traffic. The only weird thing is that they pump some type of scent into the lobby. It is always there and a little too strong.
Very bad. I had to talk someone to be allowed tojpark my ca r outside so I can check in I was told that he can allow it for 20 minuts or else. What a first impression . Then found our you charge $30 for parking! Not a very happy customer already.
Not sure why all the bad reviews about the pool here? We came on Labor Day weekend and yes it was busy Sat & Sun! However, Thursday & Friday poolside was perfect balance of not too many people. Waiting staff was good too, especially Alejandro. Room was very nice, comfortable beds but pillows were just OK. The other reason I think this resort is so popular is it appears to be the only one nearby that has a large pool and one that backs against the beach so guests can go from ocean to pool as desired. And bar is close to beach. Spa is resort quality! Great steam room & sauna. Massage therapists were of top quality, saying a lot since my wife was a massage therapist for 15 years. Now the bad: this place is expensive! Food is high priced, even a candy bar at the store sets you back $3. Every service has an automatic 20% surcharge, so no need to tip I suppose (couple's massage came out to $420). Best work around is for HH gold+ members to use points to stay here to defer the cost you will spend while staying here. Also, you better be OK around kids if you want to stay here! Remember what I said about the pool being the best in the area? Well, that probably makes it a top attraction for families. Overall, really enjoyed our romantic getaway from our own kids here and recommend here to others!
Beautiful views from the room but unfortunately we're unable to use our room balcony due to construction. The hotel makes up for that with the food and great staff.
Great Hotel, great service from the front desk to the restaurants, employees are very polite and friendly. The hotel is beautiful the pool is gorgeous. Although the pool was very dirty this time is not always like that.. I will stay at this hotel again.
Staying here right now and it s great. Front desk is happy and helpful. Pool staff and servers are great. Place is nice and clean. Definitely worth the rates.
Beautiful resort right on the beach. We stayed in the Ocean front corner suite and the view was amazing! Thre room was very spacious and comfortable. The bathroom had a shower with double shower head and a tub. Only complaint would be that for the size and price of the room there was no kitchenette or even just a microwave with a little sink/ counter area. There was just a small fridge and a tiny coffee maker. Also could use better lighting in the bathroom. (As a woman, getting ready to go out the lighting to do your makeup was not the best.)
Very nice hotel with beach view. Me and my wife spent Christmas here having purchased the trip through Costco's travel website. Despite the lower pool being closed for construction which was clearly posted through Costco and on the hotel website, the upper pool was just perfect for sunbathing and cooling off. The upscale steakhouse restaurant was top notch and competes with some of the finest i have enjoyed. Over Christmas there was an option to have a holiday feast complete with activities through out the week for children should you have any. Parking was a breeze for someone from a much smaller city in a rental car and the proximity to the boardwalk allows for walking shopping and more eateries than i can enumerate. My only criticism was the pool bar prices are a bit insane with $10 hotdogs being my break point. Otherwise superb experience.
Great hotel! Everyone including the employees are super nice. I lost count of how many pools they have but you can choose from kids pool to adult pools. Husband and I came for our anniversary and they treated us like royalty. I completely recommend this resort!
The best hotel I ever been. The pool is so clear and the service is great and fast, we were running out of shampoo and body wash and with just one call they bring more in a few. Also the view was amazing in the 28 floor. I love it.
My husband took me there for mother's day. He paid 390 the room. and they never told us we will have to paid extra fee of 76 dollars plus 44 valet parking. We were expecting to have breakfast with water view and his restaurant didn't open until 11am. We booked a room with water view and we didn't expected to have partial with no balcony. We asked for late check out because we got there at 10pm the day before and they said no. We were not able to enjoy as much as we were expecting. such a bummer.
Hotel is very nice and clean inside, but is still undergoing renovations. There are A LOT of children at this resort, so if you have them it's a great choice but if you want to avoid them and want quiet pool time, seek elsewhere. The beachfront is small and cramped and not terribly clean and it takes forever to get placed somewhere to sit. Drinks are more than what you'd typically pay for them, even at typical hotel prices you've come to expect. For instance, two drinks of Angels Envy runs you around $70.
