Great place just a hair north of miami dade, beach is nicer here than most of the coast in the area until you get down to south beach. Huge hotel with many restaurants and shops right outside on the boardwalk, there's a real boardwalk here. Great valet, with amble parking garages. I think its connected to a convention center across the street as well. Overall very nice place to stay for a beach weekend.

The facility is gorgeous. The rooms are comfortable and well designed. I love the deep soaking tub is great and the layout is nice.

Prices are very high in the restaurants and the canteen. Even for South Florida. Even for a resort. For example, my poolside lunch of a veggie wrap and a canned beer was $26. The food is not bad, but pretty unremarkable. It's pretty much to be expected, but just be prepared. Stock the teeny tiny fridge as best you can if you don't want to pay $80/person/day for food and drinks.

Unfortunately, the service leaves a lot to be desired across the board. We waited three hours for a room at check-in and the desk staff was indifferent, bordering on rude. Service at both restaurants was painfully slow. We sat at the bar at Portico and it took almost 90 minutes to eat. Most of it was waiting for the servers (who were on the other side of the bar) to take our orders or bring our checks. They moved extremely slowly and didn't really seem to know how to things efficiently. (Rolling silverware while people are waiting for drinks, going to a table to drop one thing and not checking on tables on the way back to the bar. Just basic industry stuff)
Our drinks were not refilled at all and we waited for about a half hour just to pay. The staff continues to not follow basic restaurant procedures such as pre-bussing/bussing tables. Even at closing. We walked down to the beach this morning and there were dishes and food on the tables from the night before and trash all over the patios. It's really surprising that such an upscale place has consistently poor service.

Overall, the property is gorgeous and has a lot of potential. If the staff were even passably decent this would be at least a 4 star place.

Bad Service - Waiting 20 Minutes to be served for a table from an unfriendly person. We had breakfast included. The cook was not flexible to make 2 fresh waffles. The staff in the breakfast restaurant was friendly at least. All sun beds at 8:30 already reserved. Here also bad service. Only at the beach available sun beds but service only from 9:30. Also unfriendly. Disappointed by the service at all. Guess too less personal for this kind of Hotel. Drinks are too expensive for comparison to other hotels. Rather go to Fontainebleau Hotel. Much better service and quality for same prices.

The hotel is great, nice airy, clean rooms, excellent customer service BUT this hotel is located in the middle of a restaurant desert. Transportation is needed to get away to other places to eat. Most of my meals were from the Canteen because the onsight options are very few. The thing with the wooden chips to get free water is weird. I spent days in a Home2 location and they gave you as many as you wanted at the front desk. If you didn't use a wooden chip here it cost 3 bucks. Crazy weird. Even the car rental place gave us bottles of water free.

First of all we booked a partial ocean view. Now when it said "partial" ocean view I didn't have high expectations, maybe a sliver of ocean... Not even close, full parking lot view is what we got. When we complained we were told that if you go to the balcony and lean over the rail and look to the right you could see the ocean. Seriously this is verbatim. Even this explination could have possibly been maybe understandable execpt the balcony was under contstruction and was not accessible. We asked to change our room and were told the entire hotel was completely sold out for the entire holiday weekend. The hotel was a zoo. We called for more towels in the room and no one ever came... Tried again day 2 took 3 hours to get towels. There were long lines every where we went, you had to wait in line 25 mins to receive a wrist band to gain access to the pool. The pool was so crowded there were no chairs available to more than half of the guest. People were putting towels down and sitting in the walk ways, storing their bags behind garbage cans. There wasn't enough staff to clean up after everyone and the property was disgusting. The pool was murky and cloudy from the massive amount of people, multiple times long pieces of hair extensions became wrapped around my wrists and legs, there was garbage, beer cans, left over food all over the floors by the pool. There was no decorum. Children running and screaming, drunk people cannon balling in the over crowded pool, older children jumping in and out of the pool soaking the chairs near by. We had to call security because the people staying in the room next to started beating and screaming at each other. The other guest were trashy, out of control, loud, and everywhere. The only positive was the staff member Ryan at the pool. He went out of his way to accommodate us when there were no chairs left. It's unfortunate we have had family come in to visit us and they have always stayed here. Never again. Not us, not family. Don't do it.

The place was nice but the food was not very good also they charge hotel guest a separate fee for parking which I thought was not nice. Our rooms were suppose to be ready at 4 and they were not. The beach and pool area were nice and clean and the service was polite but a bit slow. Overall it was just ok not sure if it's worth the price.

The check-in process went well. The property looks good and it looks like renovation is still under way.
There are restaurant options available and a store or two. It's nice the service in the stores was okay nothing remarkable.
You can hear room noise from the rooms next door. My room was ocean facing and I couldn't hear any noise from the pool area and the view was great.
Things are at a premium. I ordered a personal pizza and Coke delivered from one of their associated restaurants and it was $30; so you pay like you're in a Caribbean resort while staying domestic.

Overall it's a nice place, close to the beach, not much around within walking distance (there are businesses, residences,etc.).

The inside of hotel is newly renovated and stunning. Lobby, restaurants, and rooms don't disappointment. However the pool though large is out dated particularly kids area is small with nowhere for adults to sit. But the biggest disappointment was the beach. It's tiny and they have it so packed with chairs there is no where to just enjoy. Plus the nickel and dime you. Chairs are free but to open an umbrella you owe them $20 and front row chair with umbrella for $98 And tiny cabanas $120. It's a nice resort but not a destination.

Bed was very comfortable. Rooms were modern and clean. Amazing beach front views and access. Good service. Only down side was the price of food in the convenient store in the lobby. They charge $9.45 for a yogurt!

My visit here was very short.... but it was unforgettable. We where upgraded to a ocean front room. The moment I walked into my room I could see the moon reflecting off the ocean. It was paradise. The customer service was outstanding, the hotel was clean and very inviting. I have absolutely no complaints. The beds where comfortable, bathtub was spacious and relaxing. The food we ordered for breakfast was delicious and the drinks from the bar where perfectly made. I would recommend to everyone to stay here if you have the chance. Whether you re from out of town or live local. Get away and stay at the Diplomat!

WE went with our friends 2 weeks ago to the resort. The resort was alright missing towels and the such. What i find despicable is that Myself and 3 other couples decided to stay one more night and one couple was checking out the original day. The diplomat went ahead and charged them that night. They have Receipt when they checked out but it does not matter they cannot get the management to call them back. They have been trying for 2 weeks to get a call back the operators see they checked out but nothing gets resolved. very poor results.. Lets see if Everyone in our group and their families please review maybe we can get them to do what is right once they feel 200 1 star reviews if they start to act like a good citizen

The rooms at the diplomat were comfortable, clean, and bright. The function spaces (set up for workshops and dinners) were very nice and the av worked well. All of the staff members were friendly and more than accommodating. Food at the functions was at least cafeteria good and the banquet staff kept everything well stocked. The best part is walking down the stairs right onto the beach and into the ocean.

Booked my reservation this morning thru Priceline (called the hotel directly but got a better deal thru 3rd party site). Called the hotel 2 hours after to check my reservation and it was in. I also double checked the rooms amenities to make a sure they were correct and unfortunately they were not. I was downgraded to a Non-Balcony room and I clearly paid for a room with a balcony (wife and I smoke). After going back and forth with the hotel , they stated that I did not get a balcony and it was not on the order. I then asked if they can put a note in to put me in a room with a balcony and was told they cannot touch third party orders. I then called Priceline, they verified that I indeed paid for a balcony and it was clearly written in the contract to the hotel. Priceline calls the hotel to try to solve the matter but the hotel stated they could not do anything because all the rooms with balconies were now booked. After back and forth with Priceline and them with the hotel. Priceline refunds money. My wife and I were really looking forward to stay. Diplomat really messed up our plans for this weekend.

Amazing Hotel, amazing wedding venue..the panoramic scene was just so beautiful. Food was amazing, and the waiters were so helpful and professional! Give overall 100% great place to be.

Beautiful hotel, beach, and swimming pools. I have stayed at this hotel several times, and decided to finally leave a review for 3 stars, because consistently the staff that checked me in was not friendly/helpful answering questions, there has been very slow service at the restaurants and my room has not been cleaned well from previous occupant upon my arrival.

It was amazing. The room I stayed in had a beautiful beach view although we couldn't go onto the balcony it was still a beautiful view. It was a great experience and I do plan to go back

Just booked this hotel for fathers day and called today 6/7/19 at 9:04am and the lady on the phone was extremely rude, hang up on me when i asked for a manager because she was giving me attitude. Please stay away from this place. She said her name was Kathy but i doubt that's her real name.

Went for a wedding food was great! The room was nicey only complaint would have to be the 30$ amenities fee for the overnight stay of not using the amenities of the hotel, but the experience was fantastic!

This is an incredibly badly managed hotel. There is an insufficient number of staff to handle check-in and check-out, leading to queues of up to an hour (!). This standard process never takes less than 10 minutes.

It is very, very pricy. They don't even show the prices in the shops, openly stating that "when people have queued for coffee and a fruit basket for 20 minutes they will not return the items". This is a direct quote from the coffee shop attendant. Wow. And you will queue since they are understaffed in the shops and the restaurants as well.

Guest Services are either under staffed or supremely indifferent. When the cleaners did not deliver large towels, we called GS and it took them several hours to get us towels. The hotel ran out of coffee pods for the room coffee brewers (how can you run out of coffee pods??) they just said they couldn't do anything. How about driving to the local WalMart and buy all their pods??

The pool area gets invaded by loud, drunk locals during the weekends. They bring drinks and even food (!) into the pool. At 2pm you could not see the bottom of the pool, even at the shallow end. Disgusting. The security people do absolutely nothing to stop the invasion. Why?

The rooms have been refurbished at high cost. So many errors. The bathroom is badly configured with a leaky door to the shower. The front door does not keep out light or sound. The AC is very noisy.

As a very, very seasoned traveler, using Hilton, Westin, Marriot, Best Western and Crowne around 150 nights a year I am stunned by this experience. It is inexplicable that Hilton can allow this low level of service and hotel management to continue. Is there no concern for the brand?

Will someone please read the many complaints on Tripadvisor. Local management will only comment on the good ones, never the bad ones. A curious way of showing that you want to improve.

At 100 USD per night this would be a bad deal. At 350 USD per night it is highway robbery and a disgrace.
