Overall good experience however room front of elevator not good.
Overall good experience however room front of elevator not good.
Microphones cut out several times and no staff on hand to fix.
Went to a reception there. I have a dairy intolerance and they made sure my food was good and free of dairy.
Great work to all the staff.
Friendly staff. Great location. My room was clean and quite.
Stayed 2 nights, very comfy bed and bedding, clean room, bar fridge. Very quiet, had a great sleep. Great rainhead shower, nice toiletries. Great Hot Tub, Sauna and work out room too.
The hotel appears clean and has modern decor for its many rooms and amenities. I especially love the restaurants attached within the hotel, and the service is always excellent and warm. Although I did not stay at the hotel, it would be a lovely place to stay in Burnaby!
Great staff friendly and helpful. The restaurants have been refreshed which is nice although the prices in Atlas are needlessly high.
The staff is absolutely lovely, and made me feel at home. The room is clean, as you would expect. There was a note placed on the desk stating that there may be window cleaning done during my stay. As suggested by the note I kept my drapes closed. Sure enough there was a worker cleaning the windows to my room this morning, but that was hardly an inconvenience. Nothing to fret about! I would definitely suggest getting a day pass if you're visiting without a car so you can easily get around the city from the hotel. Overall, this is a wonderful hotel to stay at.
Room was clean, they gave us a free upgrade for our honeymoon night which was very nice, but hotel was still extremely expensive and even the upgraded room felt a little small and old.
Room service was pretty fast. The bed wasn't as comfortable as I liked. Nice fitness room, but no swimming pool. The toilet wasn't spotless, there was a few black specs on the seat that I wiped off with a tissue. No free breakfast. WiFi was slow.
Visited the Atlas Steak + Fish restaurant adjacent to the casino. Food was fantastic and service was good. The complementary bread is well done and, soft and puffy. My entree, duck breast was very good.
Staff at the hotel was very helpful in guiding me to my event, and the location is very nice, with free parking for the casino across the street
Great service, restaurants were a little expensive though
Attended a wedding reception in their 1,2, and 3 ballroom. Was a great venue and very clean. Everyone had a great time and afterwards some people even went to the casino to "donate" some money!
I love this hotel! Friendly staff, great restaurants, free parking, and it's quiet! For those driving, it's a great location to explore Vancouver from, without having to put up with the noise, bustle, and beggars downtown. My favourite hotel in Van city!
Great hotel. The only disappointment is the breakfast. Not up to the standard of the rest of the hotel.
Nice hotel and free parking. No idea on the rooms or casino as I've only been to the meeting rooms but it seems like it would be a good place to stay if I was here from out of town.
Loved it. I have taken my sweet heart there many times to EBO. Great food. Wonderful staff
I never got the chance to thank our front desk. SAM!! You were amazing and my now fiance and I would love to thank you for the beautiful card and for the maps! You made our stay at your hotel a better. It was an amazing stay, everything was clean and customer service is top notch!
Comfortable bed, quiet room despite proximity to casino.
Went to Altlas Steak and Fish with friends for a birthday dinner. Service was great. Food took a bit longer than we expected but we did order the tomahawk steak. Delicious food.
Very nice hotel. Spouse and I just had the standard King bed package (flew in on an Expedia "fly and stay" deal. Room was in the 19th floor with a decent view, if you don't mind scanning the horizon through the highrises . Room was well appointed although it only had one "comfy" chair - two would have been nice by the end table.
Bathroom was nice as expected with full tub enclosure. Lots of towels and the other usual amenities.
Another unexpected development was that the hotel is attached to the Villa Casa (?) chain of casinos. Didn't partake though. It does also have the Atlas Steak and Fish restaurant as well. It's the same as the one in Edmonton. Will provide my thoughts in a separate review but I will say that it was great.
Nice hotel. Quiet on our floor (we were well above any "action"). Heartily recommend.
Four of us stayed here for New Year's Eve. The rooms were clean, comfortable and larger than other hotel rooms. I would definitely recommend this hotel to friends and family!
Went to Persona. chorizo Penne was on special, was good. Bathroom was clean. Three servers we dealt with were pleasant and bubbly and smiling all the time. Nothing out of the norm. Maybe a bit expensive, but it is a hotel.
I have stayed here quite a few times in the past year. This hotel has never impressed me, and usually provides a very average or even disappointing experience. The hotel itself is nice but the services and benefits for platinum members, or at least for me, have been poor. The upgrades have never been even a basic suite, and the one time I asked them about it their response was they have no control of the suites, those are controlled by the casino. I never bothered to ask again and I just expect poor upgrades and services when I stay there. When I specifically request for a quiet room away from elevators, they often miss it and still place me right next to elevators where it's very noisey. I'm not a huge gambler but I stay there because I do play at the casino all night, usually losing up to a thousand, and sleep during the day. The hotel is a disappointment and SPG/Marriott would appear to be poor programs if just based on experience with this hotel. I only stay there because it's the only casino hotel in Burnaby and I do enjoy gambling and I visit Burnaby a lot. However I've spent enough at that casino and will likely never go again considering the poor hotel experience.
Decent accommodation, however housekeeping called me after I posted a do not disturb sign on my door. I told the front desk about this, and they said they would put a note on my file and make sure it doesn't happen again, only for it to happen the following day.
They also did not turn off the previous guests alarm, so I was woken up at 6 am on a Saturday.
Personas is an okay place to hang out, but their food is mediocre at best. Chow is nothing special. Atlas is good. The breakfast buffet that is included in the package was decent.
Very friendly and professional staffs. Check-in was easy and efficient (4pm, October 31, 2019). Will stay here again.
Food was great at Atlas. Service was attentive. The menu is not cheap but worthwhile for special occasions.
Dimsum lunch at the Chinese restaurant attached to the hotel. A little pricier than some of the nearby East Van dimsum places, but the quality is good for the price. If you go pay before 11am there's an automatic 15% off the bill.
Didn't stay in the hotel, but went to Grand Dynasty restaurant, the Chinese place beside it. The restaurant is a little more upscale than your typical Chinese place and the food was very well done. The only downside is that I saw they serve shark fin on the menu - very disappointed. Poor taste for a Canadian restaurant!
I went there for a Congress meeting, good place but not as clean as it should be!
Attended a Leadership conference- great venue. Service was very good.
Hotel is attached to The Grand Villa Casino in Burnaby. It is located right beside the Trans Canada Highway for easy access. A busy Casino with lots of slots and card games.
Free parking at the hotel and friendly staff. I especially want to recognize Gabriela the Front Desk Agent. She went above and beyond being helpful during check-in. She explained the hotel restaurants, how to access wifi and helped set it up on all of our devices. She helped us load and explain the Marriot Bonvoy app and it's benefits. Hotel Management you have a real excellent employee here!
Clean and comfortable rooms but most impressive is the staff. From the shuttle drivers to the folks at the front desk everyone is beyond fantastic and going above and beyond to make your stay as enjoyable as possible.
Atlas stark and fish
Great ambience Food just ok service great
Next time I will try the steak since this time I ordered seafood
Attended a wedding reception and the space was beautiful and staff were very friendly
Went for a banquet. The venue was great and service was impeccable.
Nice Marriott property. Well appointed. Great management. Staff excellent.
Amazing stay. Treated sooo well and the rooms were clean well laid out. Will stay again.
Received very slow service. Forgot one of the drinks for the table had to ask 15 minutes after the other drinks arrived
Nice hotel, friendly staff, clean rooms, but some common areas were dirty.
Great hotel
Right off the hwy. Very easy to go east bound in morning.
DO NOT stay here if your wanting to go west on hwy 1 first thing in the morning.
Will stay again if I can.
The staff at check in and the personas restaurant was extremely good! Price was higher than expected, but would go again.
The hotel is very good. The rooms very comfortable. The basic breakfast and if you do not like the casino there is not much to do.
Attended for a party. Everything was professional and looked great.
A very nice hotel! The room was clean and the staff we're exceptionally helpful couldn't ask for more
Hotel has been amazing. Great staff and restaurant options.
Really great place with nice service, some of the casino restaurants/venues could use some work
All that glitters is not gold! Highly over-priced restaurant - food was over-cooked & average at best. Biggest complaint we have however involves the parking. As we were here to move our daughter in to UBC campus residence, we were driving our pick-up truck. A Ford F-150 of average height, it was apparently too tall for the garage and suffered significant damage to the roof. The caution bar shows evidence of this being a frequent occurrence. When we raised the issue with the desk staff however, they were not only unsympathetic, but very rude! You can tell they have heard this complaint many times as they had a scripted response to our concern. We feel they should at least warn people at check-in when they provide parking instructions. We frequent Vancouver but will not return to this hotel and are sending our complaint along to management of both the hotel and the Marriott conglomerate.
Great place for seminars. Catering is great. The facilities can be a bid better but still really good.
Nice hotel with nice views. They also provide lots of free garage parking. It's a good location that's right off the highway and with plenty of restaurants near by.
Casino is decent. Restaurant there (Atlas) is worth a try if you re in the area. Great food and reasonable prices for a casino spot
Nice clean hotel, decent food, rooms are fairly clean and well kept. Front desk is quite friendly. Overall a fairly good experience at this Hotel.
Rooms were clean, well appointed and pleasant. Staff were kind, helpful and competent. Overall a wonderful stay!
Attending a wedding reception in the ballroom and visited a few rooms. Rooms seem well equipped but didn't see access to TV HDMI port.
My Girlfriend has some sever food restrictions and the kitchen staff at EBO managed to bring out a meal for her that made he extremely happy. It's a great place to eat.
We had an event in one of their conference rooms for about 100 people and the service was amazing, the food was okay. Location wise it's fairly Central, except during rush hour it can be pretty nasty to get to and from. Overall it was a good experience, someone was always around to help us out.
I've been visiting this property for about 6 years for business meetings and was excited to finally check out the rooms once Marriott acquired the Delta brand. I've stayed here on several occasions over the past two years.
Pros:
Ample Parking
Friendly Front Desk Service
Great Lobby Ambiance
Several in-hotel dining Options
Starbucks situated in Lobby
Cons:
Rooms are in need of updating (serious) - I see updated photos on the website but on my past three stays I've had dreadfully outdated rooms even on the 16th floor
Parking structure requires a bit of a hike and can be difficult with bag(s)
All in all this is a fair place to stay while in Burnaby.
Was in the ballroom as a volunteer. It was pretty nice.
We have stayed here many times.
The lobby is beautifully decorated, and front desk staff is usually friendly, and helpful.
They were able to get us in a very early check in one time when I wasn t feeling well, which was much appreciated.
The rooms aren t anything special, but they are always very clean and well stocked / serviced.
They have a hot tub just outside of the gym area. Very nice, clean & quiet. Unfortunately no pool.
Check to see If you can get in on a special offer from the casino. That s what brought us here most of the time.
They had a stay & play package that gave us free breakfast at the restaurant ( they have a daily breakfast buffet that I highly recommend! ) as well as a special room rate & casino free play.
Solid 3.5 stars. Would be 4 if they gave the rooms a facelift and had a pool !
Attentive service, delicious meals, and beautiful lighting.
A little out of downtown but it offers well appointed rooms, a full Vegas style casino and some amazing food. Try the Spicy Chicken Waffle sandwich.
