Visited David Jones today for the first time in years to look for an umbrella given the predicted weather for the next few days in Sydney and the fact that we should be doing everything we can to support physical retail in a challenging time. Walked in and asked the employee at the door where I might be able to find umbrellas and was sent to Level 5. Asked an employee on Level 5 and was sent to Level 1. Walked around Level 1 and Ground floor and couldn't find any and left. I tried to be open minded to trying physical retail again and it's just so consistently disappointing.

Me: I want to buy x

Me: I want to buy x

Senior customer service person: first says I don't know, then probably not, then check floor 3. Then rushes away.

Me: Umm why don't you check your computer?

Senior customer service person: check level 3. Then walks away.

This is why people shop online. I will never go back.

The worst eyebrow threading I have had. They take no attention to detail, one eyebrow was highly arched and the other flat, walked out like I had an eyebrow raised on one side.

They also left the tail on one brow half a centimetre linger than the other.

On average I sat in the chair for 2 minutes and rush through.

30 years ago was the first time l went to David Jones. Yesterday was the 2nd and last time l will ever go.
I had to be fitted for a bra. It took three attempts to get someone to serve me. Two staff in the intimate apparel department were having a good chat. I stood near them and waited patiently. Finally one said do you need help. I explained what l needed help with. She said look just go over to the counter there.
I waited at the counter. There were four other people waiting. One person on the desk. I waited 10 minutes and realized that the person on the desk was just doing purchases.
I went back to the two talking again and this time the other women piped up quite snappy look l only do Simone perele.
Well you know l could have been happy with that.
But then they said oh look where's Liora and start yelling out this womens name. Then appeared a very sweet little lady rushing towards us. It was like deal with this will you.
She was the most polite and sweetest person, from Ecuador. She listened very well and said okay come come let's get you fitted.
I spent $214. I received very good service from this lady. She was the rose amongst many thorns. She put me on the right track as to sizing and labels that suit me. Thank you kindly dear lady. You were the only lady l encountered that day.
So now l will buy these products online so l never have to go through the stress of bad service.
No doubt this sweet assistant will move on to another employer with the way her colleagues spoke to her.
Those that are left without a job because of lack of personal shoppers maybe ask yourself did l really give good service??????????????

Great

There are two David Jones stores in the city, one at Elizabeth Street housing the women's department and the other at Market Street for the men's department and a Foodhall in the basement. In the women's department, there is a wide range of brand name fashions, accessories, cosmetics and perfumes. It is very pleasant shopping at the ground level in the women's department as there is a pianist playing melodious music on the grand piano.
In the men's store, there is a good variety of men's fashions and accessories. The Foodhall at the basement is a very interesting place to visit. There are counters selling a whole range of delicatessen foods, fresh fruits and vegetables. There are also the Sandwich Bar, Cheese & Antipasto Bar for take-away food, Juice Bar for fresh fruit juices, Oyster Bar, Italian Bar and Asian Bar for a sit-down cooked meals.
The counter selling strawberries and other fruits dipped in chocolate is worth a visit for those who like chocolate with fruits. The juicy strawberries coated with creamy chocolate and sprinkled with crunchy nuts give a combination of tastes and textures are really delicious.
A very nice departmental store for shopping. The annual flower show at David Jones is worth a visit.

Review of the online experience - after a typo at checkout stage, I contacted David Jones urgently on the 16th of June. By the time they had replied on the 21st of June my goods had been delivered - to the wrong address, with no ability to retrieve them. Terrible experience, would not order from there again.

This store always reminds me of Harrods in London. The staff are polite, trained in etiquette, and always smartly dressed. A great range of clothing and all accessories with the inevitable perfume counters, all overstaffed. There must be a great mark up on these products to support the numbers of employees selling the products , a nice small restaurant and all facilities of a major city store

Great service the staff couldn't have been more helpful. Kent at the cosmetic counter of Clarins was excellent. Well done DJ's keep up the service levels. Can't wait to see the renovated store.

We went to see Santa and ended up staying to shop. The staff on the ninth floor are exceptional. This level of customer service should be the benchmark:engaging, smiling, genuinely interested to help. The little cafe in the corner is a knockout and THOSE ice lollies.....yum.

This was previously one of the best stores in Sydney but not anymore. It seems they have lost their big names and brands. The customer service isnt what it used to be either. Before, we would have people jumping at the chance to help out... now, it's hard to find a staff member to even do a payment transaction.

Beautiful store. Love the luxury brands that they stock. Sanitary store. Lots of security.

The YSL retail assistants were quick to help me online and put some items on hold for me. An asian man asked if I needed help when i entered the store, the other two simply ignored me.

It has been a common trait among some of the retail assistants of YSL to be rude and ignorant. Glad with the service this time (from the particular man that helped me).

The product was neatly packaged and there was complimentary water served. Will want to come back in the near future.

Agree with others, the atmosphere is nice and the staff friendly. But, it is overpriced (they charge $15 for shellac removal) and the manicures do not last. Have been twice for a shellac manicure now and both times the colour has chipped within 2-3days. Very disappointing

Experiencing some seriously low customer service. My Gordon Ramsay crockery arrived half broken and DJs keep offering a 20% then a 25% discount on smashed goods. With the cheek of thanking me for my patience! Plates do not work broken!

How to review as I had one of my first jobs there when I was 17 Has been one of my favourite places for decades- Currently languishing to make an impact but certainly the maze of doorways whilst construction occurs is annoying- The signage can be done better internally in the Elizabeth Street store ground floor

I've been going to this place for over a year. Although it's overpriced compared to other nail salons it's clean and I feel much safer I am not going to catch any infection. Staff is friendly and everyone speaks English.

Reasonable range and brand breadth, but the shop itself could really use a refit. It s not enough to rate it down, but for what should be a flag shop location it is looking like 10years overdue for a refresh.

I am a american express cardholder and expect a good customer service. So frustrated to deal with aggressive staff member at Chatswood and lack of service. Already sent my feedback and insident report with unstable staff there to manager however there were no action take place.

I was very impressed with the 'new' David Jones food and homewares levels .The fitout, presentation and quality of goods on offer was exceptional all be it , in some instances, difficult to justify the asking price.

Would like to say a big thanks to the manager of the rodd and gunn department. She went the extra mile. I liked a t-shirt but they never had my size in store so she went elsewhere and got it for me. Also I liked a pair of trousers that were too long and she got them tailored to my size. Above and beyond service Shop at this rodd and gunn department, the managers service at Myers is dreadful.

I always come here for mid season sales but this season the sales are false. They advertise up to 75% off but I couldn't find any women's item that were more than 30% off. Prices of items are also higher than they were a few months ago. I think they are inflating prices to pay for the store renovations.

Only went to the shoe level on level 7. As I walked in there was a pianist playing lovey relaxing music to make me happy and very relaxed to walk around the shoe floor and had a lovely time. All the sales assistants were delightful, kind and very helpful in all the sections. Definitely worth a visit!
