Typical DJs , clean, good service and a large variety of merchandise. A clean public restroom is available. I'm not sure about other days but on Sundays there is a piano player who adds a delightful touch to your shopping trip

NEWS JUST IN ### The entrance at the corner of Market and Elizabeth Streets (opposite St James station is NOW OPEN!) ###The ground floor is open.### Where David Jones was considered high end, New David Jones (NDJS) will be even higher end. The success of retailing in the CBD is a sure thing - ask any retail leasing manager! The collective excitement of Sydney is palpable as the great day of re-established retailing approaches. Try saying that three times quickly! The whole thing will be done by April, 2020! Woo!

I was very disappointed with my in-store experience in the suit department level 4 city store. I was expecting the staff to be dressed in a smart suits and have name tags so I could tell the difference between the staff and shoppers. I was greeted by man who looked like he was ready to go to the beach. Then a little later a young lady greeted me with "Hi how are you" I was a bit lost as to what she wanted as she was dressed in jeans and a shirt with no name tag or with a David Jones badge on. As I walked around the floor it was very hard to work out who was staff who was not. The shoppers were dressed better then the staff. I was ready to spend money on a wedding suit but in the end it was to hard to find someone to help me, I gave up and left.

Every time I pop into David Jones in the city I feel a) like I m just not good enough for their time b) like they re about to close permanently. Just a little bit of personal attention, eye contact and a bit of friendliness would go a long way. Came in to buy a shirt and tie thinking I d get a bit of advice from their staff but left feeling like I d just been through a Boxing Day sale, minus the foot traffic. Department stores are dying but they don t need to speed up the process by being so unconcerned about their customers.

I have to say I am disappointed with the renovation of level 7.
Levels 1 & 2 are much better.

The homage touches to the old decor of Elizabeth St are a really lovely touch, even if they have (for the most part) hung them incorrectly.

what a horrible shopping experience with well-known department store. I'm trying to buy a shoe but the sales assistant gave me the wrong size just because he didn't focus to his job. This is resulting that i have to exchange at their stores but they don't have enough qualified stock (they offered me with bad and damaged items in all branches) to exchange it.
one of the sales assistant gave me solution to buy online and exchange it at store, but their online shopping system as "horrible" as their customer service because they charged me even before i confirm my shopping.

I promise myself that this will be the last time shopping at this horrible brand

A great place to shop for high quality fashion and brands. Get there in the afternoon and watch the pianist perform classics and pop songs on the Steinway grand piano ( located near Elizabeth st entrance.)

David Jones in the city is a wonderful iconic department store, with eye catching window displays to lure you in. I have spent many a lunch hour pottering around and shopping in here. The women's clothing , shoes and accessories departments are amazing. They stock beautiful labels and you can find something for most occasions and budget. The staff here provided good old fashioned customer service. Its always a pleasure to shop here.

Closing the market St menswear store was yet another terrible idea from this company. The new space is confusing and badly laid out with not much stock, it's hard to see who they are catering for? You get a better deal at Zara or General Pants. Avoid it !

Service from David Jones is not even worth a star from my recent experience. Ordered online a pair of sales boost when the offer just started two weeks ago without any issue, been waiting for the shipping notification and followed up a week ago. Customer service told me my order is secured and will dispatch shortly. Today, after two weeks of waiting, David Jones sent me a short email said my order is cancelled due to stock/website error.
Are you kidding me? Is this the way you running your business under such specific period? Clearly, you reserve all the stocks for people who go shopping in the store and replaced online orders for it. That s ridiculous and unacceptable! Never ever again!!

Went in to look at the makeup section, and while there was many people willing to help with product selection, it took a little while for us to pay. But overall nothing out of the ordinary of any other David Jones, just a slightly nicer/cleaner store

No wonder retail is going down the gurgler! Walked around the store with 200 bucks worth of goods in my hand, approached the sales desk near the Trenery garments, where the staff member focused very intently on folding the pants in front of her for a minute then glance up and asked "Are you right?" I said, "I would like to make a purchase." She said, "Oh", pursed her lips and twisted her mouth to one side. I said, "Clearly you'd rather I didn't", and walked off to find another sales desk. At the next counter, a woman addressed the customer in front of me, "May I help you?". The customer told she wanted to pay for the items in her hand. The woman behind the counter said "OK, I'll just have to find someone to do that..."
Maybe sales would increase if DJs installed self service check outs like the supermarkets and chain stores. Today it was impossible to find staff to take my money!

even though a few levels are still under renovation, it is going to be incredible based a few levels that I have been to. DJs are going for Saks 5th Avenue look. Oh and if you have kids level 9 can the either your dream or your nightmare ( you wont be able to leave without buying something )

On level 1 I was served by Nour who was so friendly and accommodating to my needs. I was looking at applying for a DJ credit card, Nour guided me every step of the way, ahe was very patient even though I had a tired toddler with me, she even kept him entertained when I was filling in the form. I would absolutely shop again if there are more customer service team like her. Even got a free upside bottle as a way to keep a 3nager happy!

The lower ground seems to be under renovation, some counters are half lit. The Dr Hauschka makeup is naturally stunning, friendly staff at the register next to the display wall. The fragrance section is well planned and stocked. Their Jurlique staff member gave me a wonderful hand treatment service.

Drop by Armani to try on some new lipstick, not only was the Asian SA rude, and full of attitude. She was literally chasing customers away. We were trying on different colours and picking out the ones we like. So we put the colours we like on the table to help us make the final decision as we were both planning to get few lipsticks, my friend and I. However the Asian SA, as we walked in, was in the middle of fixing HER own make up using the Armani products, ( I guess it's fine as she is representing armani anyway, but I guess she felt somewhat ackward) .. We didn't end up buying anything, as we were confronted by the rude and most impolite SA ever, the way she rudely took the lipstick away and put it back on shelf. The colours we were actually planning to buy....

Went to the new cafe is the brand new food hall on the Elizabeth Street building. Service is a little all over the place and it felt like everyone was on their training wheels with no one in charge, hopefully they will sort this out as the menu and price points are really fantastic. We had the beef burger and the Chicken Schnitzel and both were great. The drink menu is pretty good as well with a lovely Pinot Noir by the glass. The coffee is really good as well. The new Food hall is good but could have been done a lot better to make it special, it lacks character but this may improve if more people come back after the Covid limitations.

Pretty window display always lures me in. One of the Sydney s biggest & oldest department stores, 9 levels to suit every taste & budget.. can t walk out empty handed.

A wide array of labels. Especially designer luxury brands, which can t always be found at other DJ s stores.

Since the renovations it looks amazing.
The staff provide good old fashioned customer service. Its always a pleasure to shop here.
