I didn't stay at the hotel, but I picked up 10 people from here and I have to say the receptionists were very helpful, informational and very polite. Based on what I've seen of the hotel, I have no hesitation to recommend this hotel to anyone.
Good rooms at a decent price. There is a spa here plus the grounds are very nice. There is plenty of parking space available too
Was ok nothing special, reception staff were very helpful and quick to respond. Maybe due to ongoing work service was on the slow side but otherwise good place nice veiwes..
Attended for a Family evening meal. Food was nice however the service was a little slow and there was a huge mix up with dessert where several of our party ended up waiting 20 mins for their chosen desert to arrive. The setting is nice however the rear patio could do with a tidy up as there were a number if broken and loose slate slabs. Unable to comment about the rooms as we didn't stay overnight.
Nice location, staff not well trained. Evening meal was rushed with staff delivering food and asking 1 minute later if it was ok? Was asked the same by three staff in as many minutes. Sat down to eat at 7pm meal over by 7:45 pm. Then got chased out of restaurant by manager asking have you paid, have you paid. Fortunately I had which brought about an apology. Can only hope they improve as the facilities are superb.
We really enjoyed our stay here. The service, room and facilities are 1st class.
The service at this hotel is brilliant - the staff are polite, hard working and attentive. The massage I had was also excellent and better than a well known spa that I go to sometimes.
The place is a bit out in the wild but the envirpnment is awesome, staff is great, everyone is friendly and the rooms are just spectacular. Highly reccomended!
Lovely location for this hotel, right on a lake. Absolutely gorgeous outdoors. Giving one star only as despite being a beautiful place, we experienced poor service. Coffees ordered and paid but forgotten. Food takes too long and is not that great. Not many gluten free choices. Tables not cleaned in the bar area at dinner time. It was a shame to see smokers smoking right by the lovely children play area with young children playing there. Lots to improve. The overall observation explains the low rating.
stayed here for our 30th wedding anniversary as a present from our son was so disapointed nothing like the pictures online the room very tired looking the standard lamp in room was broken in half no instructions on how to use tv or any information about times for meals,The bar area was a disgrace one person behind the bar waited 10 mins to be served the chairs were all frayed didnt even have coasters on tables it was very lacking in the things that make your stay welcoming i will say the dinner was very nice and a lot of choice for breakfast although wasnt asked if we wanted tea or coffee until finished breakfast will not stay here again also the view from our room was scrubland and a graffiti covered old house ,i couldnt even have any spa treatments as none available all booked up
Had a great stay there. Very reasonable price for overnight stay and a 30 min treatment. Food at the bar quite pricey. Staff were attentive and friendly. Pool could do with an update
BEAUTIFUL HOTEL. iT COULD DO WITH A COUPLE MORE DIRECTION SIGNS NOT ONLY
TO THE HOTEL BUT MORE SO TO WHERE THE RECEPTION IS.. WE PARKED THE CAR BAUT
COULD SEE NO INFORMATION AT ALL OF WHICH DIRECTION THE RECEPTION WAS IN.
Nice clean hotel, lovely rooms with a big bath and separate shower, friendly staff, food was nice if the portions were a little small, we took our children and the family facilities were good although we had to rush a bit as the kids wanted to use the pool and the children's time finished at 7, also the supposed "Wii room" was a TV with a Wii at the corner of the bar area. These were minor niggles however.
Good hotel, high quality food and helpful staff Marsha from reception was really helpful
THE SPA DOES NOT PROVIDE SLIPPERS!! Apparently this was in the small print of my confirmation. Visited with a friend for her birthday, arriving and walking into the hotel was very exciting, when we got to the spa it was busier than anticipated. Took about 35 mins to check in, what looked like the main reception was caught up on a call so another person stepped in to help, she didn't know where things were or the answer to most questions. The facilities are standard and basic, later we came to find NO RELAXATION ROOM!! Even though I was told there was one when I booked. The food was tasty tho portions minimal, we had half a medium roast potato each with our roast and countable veg. Overall we made the most of a pretty average day which is quite disappointing when you spend a far bit. I would not return nor world I recommend this spa.
Nice spot for an informal meeting, a bit off the beaten track. Good friendly staff and coffee. Didn't stay overnight so no comment on the comfort of the rooms.
A beautiful Hotel in center of Marlow. Very specious and lot of car parking space for guest. It was sparkling clean and very helpful staff
Shocking food service! My vip guest was having dinner and staff member wanting an autograph while he was eating. 5 minutes to get my cutlery while looking at my dinner. Cold room no heating and missing tv.
Will never stay with this hotel chain again.
Booked afternoon tea (finally...after 4 phone calls over 2 weeks and all details given each time, the manager laughed at this when we told him...not a good start!) arrived at the stated time...no booking! Finally got seated, waited ages for tea to arrive and the sandwiches were stale and some curled at the edges, the scones were more like rock cakes. Included were a glass of presecco each..we had to ask after 40 mins for it. The staff couldn't be bothered (it wasn't busy) and sighed a lot if you asked for anything...tea was served outside in the garden...dissapointed no table cloth, just an old wooden table.our son joined us at the end for a cup of tea, he asked for the bar menu, again we waited 15 mins or more. The tea arrived but no bar menu. We gave up. The manager was spoken to about our experience by our son,he didnt seem bothered. Would not recommend this place at all...shame, as its a beautiful setting in a beautiful town.upon leaving I thought I had been bitten but it turned out to be a splinter in my leg from the wooden chair! Very upset as this was a present from one of our children.
Great service
I go often in this Hotel and I m never disappointed.
Great food especially the indian one.
Great service ,barman, waitress and waiters are so nice and helpfull.
Even on this hard time of cov they will do anything to make your time their perfect.
Rude staff, especially in the bar and restaurant.
Food is way too expensive with no taste!
First and last time visiting this hotel.
Immaculately clean, well equipped hotel. Comfortable, modern rooms, lovely swimming pool and excellent levels of service throughout. Good breakfast offering too.
All of the staff were brilliant with the children and made us feel very welcome.
Very slow to respond to issues. Called Reception many time for some one to come and each time they said they are sending someone immediately, but no-one came. Had to follow up myself. First room had issue with bathroom toilet flush and the second room we moved to had very bad flickering light in the bathroom that again I had to follow up three times. This wasn't resolved and had to live with it.
In the morning my 3 year old had a reaction to their fried egg which she never had reaction before. So had to result in getting her checked at doctors asap.
View from function room was amazing, food was alright, staff were polite and well trained
Brilliant. My wife and I loved staying here. Very relaxed. Staff very helpful and friendly. Very clean room too. Food was fantastic. Will come back again
Disappointing in so many areas - the worst crowne plaza I've ever stayed at, and there have been many.
Peaceful location helpful staff, more suited for couples than the whole family, i would go again
Very high standard. Excellent facilities. Good location... dropped one star on 2nd stay. Very poor aircon in the room.
Very good hotel with a well stocked gym and excellent breakfast (although pricey). It is a relatively long walk into Marlow (30 minutes) - but I would choose this hotel over the Complete Angler, which is dated and over priced.
GLAZE restaurant - highly recommended
Fantastic food and great professional service (special thanks to Mr. Alexander)
Exceptional from all staff but especially from Marshall, the restaurant manager. Will definitely book again.
We had a group of 12 people who had booked a special Sunday evening deal for my aunt's birthday. We requested 6 twin rooms as close to each other as possible. When we arrived at 1.30 we were told that our room was not ready and they took my mum's phone number to call her when it was. By 3.30 we still had not heard back from them so we went back to reception to hear the people in front of us being assigned our room. We were then told our room still was not ready and they offered us a double room, which wasn't acceptable. Eventually, at 4.10 we got into a room. We had booked dinner for 7.30, we then waited until gone 8pm before they even offered us a menu or some water. 5 of the people with us ordered cocktails and were told that it might be about 15-20 minutes for these. We received our starters, which were cold, at around 9pm and the people who ordered cocktails still hadn't received their drinks. 30 minutes later, a member of staff came over and said that they couldn't have cocktails because the blender was broken, despite none of the cocktails requiring blending. This man was very rude to us when we questioned this and kept insisting he was the manager when we asked to speak to one (he wasn't). One of our party went and spoke to the bar who confirmed that they didn't even have a blender and were currently making the drinks for us. We got our main courses around 2 hours after sitting down, which were actually very nice. By 10.15, we hadn't had our desserts and I had to give up and go to bed. I feel like most of the staff were trying their best, which the exception of the one man who would rather lie and argue with people, but the management just wasn't there, they knew how many people were booked in and should have been prepared. They then contacted us and threatened to charge us for drinks they agreed to take off of our bill because we had left bad reviews in TripAdvisor.
We enjoyed a lovely lunch for our anniversary looking over the river, despite the weather.
Definitely will return in the summer time to really enjoy the view. Thank you for looking after us
Nice hotel. Very friendly staff. Newly refurbished rooms are very nice and well appointed. Good food.
Booked a table in advance, had to wait 15 minutes to be seated.. finally.. ordered our drinks 15 minutes later still no drinks or food order taken. Then be told drinks will be a while longer. requested to leave told I couldn't and that I need to go back to my seat. erm no I don't, took a while to remove the drinks we didn't receive from our bill. in the end had to order a take out which you don't expect in a hotel like this. in a plus side curry was delivered quick and was yummy. eat elsewhere is my advice. Also housekeeping needs addressing had to leave the room for an hour and even though I wasn't dressed they still wandered in and out. not acceptable.
Spa facilities were great but afternoon tea could be improved.
Lovely hotel - perfect for a weekend break. Trying the spa tomorrow. Nice afternoon tea
Went the crowne plaza for a work Christmas party, great staff, great food, overall a brilliant time
Very very poor. Our booking was completely incorrect from the beginning and staff were very unhelpful we got passed around from person to person. The duty manager then spoke to us and her attitude was what do you want me to do there s nothing I can do such poor attitude from someone in such a position. By far the worst hotel spa stay we ve ever experienced!!!
This is just a hotel with a pool.Has great protenial, but looking to find anything positive.Hot tub was dirty, limited seats around pool area, rooms are spacious and bed/pillows very comfy, but sadly got woken up to to the Gardner cutting the hedge outside my window.noisy maintenance should be done after checkout at 11am,after all,it's meant to be a relaxing spa/hotel.Breakfast buffet had good selection but was all cold,so not a great experience. In the corridors where just trays of eaten food and plates from room service, which I tripped over, and no one bothered to clear up.terrible, all you get when you complain is sorry about that. Not good enough at the price you charge.
Had a booking in May that the Hotel refused quite brusquely to give me a refund on despite been closed and legally obliged to.
Accepted offer of rebooking later in the year to avoid conflict.
Now automated booking system does not offer option to speak to someone to rearrange booking , high rate phone number not answered, emails not responded to.
Why would anyone want to deal with such poor standards of guest relationship?
This is the 3rd Crowne Plaza we have stayed in this year. The others were 5 star reviews.
Positives:
Good size car park
Nice reception and pool/ sauna/ steam room facilities
Comfortable bed
Helpful reception staff
Things to be improved:
No robes or towels in room, had to request
No shampoo in shower dispenser
Bar staff slow and unaware of who is next, waited 10 mins first round, 5 mins second round, with only about 5 other people at bar!
Bar music is awful. Kept hearing a version of Swan Lake played on some sort of whining pipe instrument
Queue at breakfast, and couldn't get a table together, not enough capacity
Rooms need updating, Gerrards Cross room much nicer and we were provided with some complimentary drinks
Outdoor seats uncomfortable, no cushions
We went for a overnight stay me and my wife and everything was fine. The food was lovely and a lovely romanian waitress served us the dinner. The breakfast was very nice with plenty of food.
The spa was acceptable. Overnight stay was nice and worth the money.
Excellent service, lovely room, pool and spa very nice. Breakfast was really good lots of choice.
The Crowne Plaza Marlow is a pretty good hotel located close by to the town of Marlow. The rooms were nice on the inside, and the restaurant was pleasant, however, the pool area and hotel corridors could be better with a refurbishment (which is planned for 2018). The staff were excellent and the room service menu was good and fairly priced. The room was very clean and very comfortable, and the bathroom was especially nice. The location is scenic and pleasant but admittedly quite far from Marlow itself (not walkable, generally). The grounds were well kept and the lake picturesque, and the restaurant/bar that opened into the glass room directly adjacent to grounds were pleasantly designed.
We have held our company Christmas party here for the last 2 years and the staff have been excellent. The terrace bar and adjacent room were lovely, food was great. Drinks are a little on the expensive side, but overall great. A fantastic night was had by all.
Amazing hotel Great and friendly staff Excellent facilities and very nice location
A really lovely hotel, in a nice and quiet location. Restaurant food was good quality.
I have to start with the staff - they were amazing. From reception, to the spa to the catering team. They were all very helpful and I genuinely felt they wanted to help. The rooms were nice, ours was facing the courtyard so you could hear the water feature all night which wasnt so great. The pool was large enough and they had a steam room, sauna, jacuzzi and hot hub all available and usable! We had afternoon tea on arrival and breakfast the following morning. The tea included 5 finger sandwiches and a wide selection of sweet delicacies. They had some Halal options too which was a plus (we had no expectations!). Breakfast had a variety of hot and cold dishes. I would definitely say try to go earlier rather than later as I saw the salmon disappear before my eyes and it did not appear to be replenished in the time I spent there! Overall - great!
Located near a business area it seems to be popular with the local companies. Check in and check out was quick and fuss free. Room I stayed in was a bit dated but I saw that they just refurbished some other rooms. With a pool, sauna, steam room, jacuzzi, gym and right next to a lake where you can jog its ideal for people wanting to relax and /or exercise.
Amazing and very clean I loved the breakfast and awesome swimming pool and jacusi.
Just had a two course lunch. The food was excellent very very tasty and just the right amount. Will definitely come back
This place is most certainly a beautiful and relaxing place to stay. I came recently for a 2 night weekend get away with my fiancee to celebrate his birthday. On arrival we upgraded to a Club room which includes the club lounge where you have drinks and snacks throughout the day. We had a package with afternoon tea, spa and 3 course dinner.
The manager checked us in and we went upstairs to unpack - our room was very cold. We went to the spa to have a look around and had a swim. After an hour.. we went upstairs to our room and again freezing. We tried to work the thermostat but there was no air blowing out. I called reception and no one answered from the hotel phone in my room. So I called on my mobile.... And finally someone answers. I explained the situation and was informed that someone would come to check the room. After waiting half an hour sitting there shivering and wet from the spa with no one arriving I called reception again. Karim (from reception) came upstairs apologising as he just got onto his work shift and he was trying to figure out how to work the thermostat. Since it wasn't working he ran downstairs immediately to help us change rooms. Although we wasted almost 45 minutes of the quad club he gave us late checkout for our departure for the inconvenience. We finally head down to the quad club at 5.45pm but alcohol was stopped being served by 6.30pm however again due to the inconvenience they refunded me a discount price for the quad club since we didn't get much from it.
There are positive and negative things to say about the hotel but nevertheless I'll definitely return because of the staff.
Positives: Karim on reception (lovely french man) assisted us on our stay and with our complaints assisted in the best way possible. The views of the lake is beautiful whilst eating breakfast or having afternoon tea. The hotel is renovated and absolutely spotless ! Free parking and loads available. The hotel itself has a lovely feel to it and feels very cosy. Their selection of hot teas are insanely soothing. I recommend you try their Jasmin silver tea !! All staff in the restaurant and lounge are professional and welcoming. You get robes included in the room to go to the spa aswell. Their alcohol is great and they make cocktails too! Peaceful atmosphere. The rooms were always clean and up to standards, comfy big beds.
Negatives : Very few staff on reception which leads to massive wait times (I'm sure this is due to covid). The thermostat in the rooms are very weird ! Our room was freezing and after complaining to reception and moving to another room it wasn't much warmer. The spa was nice but too crowded in my opinion. Only the swimming pool is open and the jacuzzi (2 people inside at once and a 5 minute cycle) so you don't get much spa relaxation. Our afternoon tea was by far the worst I ever had. Everything was very stale ! The bread for our sandwiches were awful quality and they were very hard. We just took the scones away with us to our room. Breakfast was decent. Hot selection to choose from but not many cold selections or pastries to choose from - there was only yoghurt, cereal or fruit available during our stay.
Would I return ?? Of course ! Lovely place, great staff. Every complaint we had, they handled professionally and ensured to make us happy. They just need to improve the heating in the rooms and their food selections.
Every member of staff was so friendly and polite. We stayed for New Year and had an amazing time. Really relaxed break away with a fun, lively atmosphere at the new year disco with fireworks. The food was incredible. Was very sad to check out and would definitely recommend.
Spent a night here for my birthday and enjoyed it very much. The spa facilities were nice and relaxing and the staff were very hospitable, polite and helpful. The 3 course dinner was absolutely delicious and beautifully presented. There was also a lot of variety for the breakfast in the morning. The chef's also make things to order, so I enjoyed some delicious pancakes. Only thing I would say is that the room (while very comfortable), could do with a bit more modernising.
Standard rooms and doesn't make most of location but food is very good
Amazing place, great service and customer care. Accommodating and helpful staff. Excellent COVID precautions. Definitely coming back.
Nice hotel located in a great and rely big lot with a beautiful lake!
Excellent Service Provided. Beautiful location.
I would definitely recommend this hotel and will be going back for a longer stay.
Hotel is very clean & spacious, however not the greatest location.
Visited for a spa day and afternoon tea. Weather was amazing so made the most of the lovely gardens too! Afternoon tea was amazing - Robert who served us was wonderful and couldn't do enough. We had a mix up with treatments and didn't get hot stone we had paid for - we were promised something to make up for it but never received anything, was very annoying, but otherwise a great day.
Lovely afternoon tea. Friendly staff and a super setting by the river
A massive thank you to everyone who works at the hotel and helped me pull off the perfect proposal, Megan had no idea what was about to happen! Needless to say she said Yes with tears in her eyes and we will never forget our magical night in Marlow and our night at the Crowne Plaza :) Thank you again!!
Lovely hotel and friendly staff. Very clean and spacious room and great sized TV (49"). Spacious bar and good range of cooked breakfast. Would highly recommend.
Nicest crown plaza I've stayed at. Currently going through renovations and modernizations too
We arrived at the hotel today for a pre - booked afternoon tea . Whilst the tea was excellent and the service in the conservatory where it was served was very good, our welcome in reception was poor, as was our treatment in moving from the reception to the conservatory. A distinct lack of customer care - some staff need to up their game. A more friendly welcome would have been appreciated . We hope this is accepted in the manner in which it is intended - to improve customers experience.
This hotel should most definitely not be advertised as a spa. IT IS NOT A SPA!
Went there for boyfriends birthday and thought the spa day would make a nice present for him. I was so wrong. The swimming pool had been sectioned off into lanes, both jacuzzis were full and didn't get to use them. Towels were left on the sun loungers with no one sitting on them. It's a shame I didn't take my phone down with me to take photos of what it actually looked like, as opposed to what they advertise. Really wish I didn't book! Would not recommend!
Just awful, we did have a nightmare at New years eve
Nice hotel, good for business stopover. Good breakfast (just make sure it's included in room or pricey extra). Slow check-in process though.
