First impressions were good. Liked the idea of 2hrs free childcare but anxious about how our 2.5yr old would cope with unfamiliar faces. The childminders were excellent and lo had a ball.

We paid extra for an executive family room because that was all there was available. I couldn't really see any qualitative differences to a normal room. Just a couple of beds + bathroom + tvs.

In general the whole place felt very crowded. Winter Garden packed. Pool packed. Breakfast Packed. Maybe the weather was just a little bit too cold for people to be outside. Fine, it's a popular place.

We were unlucky because a bunch of uni students were having their prom on the Saturday night. A group of them continued the party in the room next to ours between 2.30-3:00am. I rang down to reception twice and eventually it was sorted, but we were tired and grumpy the following day because our sleep was disrupted. Again, what was so executive about our family room when they put a bunch of party kids next to us (and the other families in the corridor)?

Did we get any kind of apology the following day? Nope. Any acknowledgement that there had been a disruption in the middle of the night? Nope.

Just poor customer satisfaction at the end of the day.

There wasn't a very warm welcome at reception. They were more concerned with having the room paid for. No information about check out time or when and where breakfast was. I was given the room key and not even told which floor it was on. It was room 360, which had no lft access, which was difficult as I had just had an operation. No directions from the reception staff to the lift and I guessed it was on the third floor.

Room was small and on a slope but it was only one night.

I was looking forward to the Victorian Spa but was very disappointed. The pool was nice as was the steam room but surely the centrepiece should be the sauna. Enough for 4 people and since most people came in their swim shorts straight from the sauna it was very soon very wet and the wood was slippery to dangerous. One person even ate a banana in the sauna. I was more impressed with the leisure centre above the spa. Victorian in name only.

The main reason I am giving 3 stars is the Meikle Restaurant. I am lactose and gluten intolerant and the staff were very useful in catering to my needs. There was gluten free bread and dairy free margarine in the morning. The food was delicious and service fast and friendly.

The spa treatments were also first class and staff very friendly and professional.

Recently stayed for 3 nights and were hugely disappointed. Definitely not worth the money this time, we had been before and wanted to return but wont be back again.
Stayed in a cosy cabin which was not the cleaniest and beds were brick hard. Marks all over the bathroom ceiling and generally needing to be redecorated. Ordered Pizzas the first night from the restaurant and they were rotten, cold and the mozzarella cheese was barely melted. No TV for 2 nights despite complaining, they did eventually send someone up on the Sunday to look at it but they said that they couldn't fix it and someone was coming on Monday to look at it but we were leaving that day so no use to us. We ended up checking out on the Sunday night very disappointed. Price certainly didnt reflect no leisure facilities, no tv and rotten pizza

Just popped in for a coffee ( and the cake was too tempting). The 'Winter Garden' tea - room is quite striking : when my companion and I walked in we both immediately thought either David Suchet as Poirot or Joan Hickson as Miss Marple.

The coffee was also slightly cheaper and much more nicely served ( table service, pleasant but not intrusive) than the ubiquitous 'High Street' chains. Don't be put off by thinking it's expensive.

The only downside is it's not in the town centre and is somewhere one has to deliberately choose to go to : I don't think a taxi each way would be sensible for a coffee, but having had a gloss through the luncheon and dinner menus for the next few days it is certainly somewhere I hope to revisit.

Coming here last 7 years.
Our kids love it.
Will probably come next 7 years as well.
Last visit. Shine came off a little. Staff not so attentive . asked for 5 towels for room as 5 of us.
We are still waiting on the towels after 2 phone calls and a visit to reception.

Have stayed here a number of times. Great attentive staff food excellent alcohol a little on the expensive side but thats to be expected in this type of place. Location is superb and the surrounding grounds are really nice and well looked after. Perfect place for a mini break weekend spa is really nice and a decent sized pool. Some of the older rooms are in need of upgrading but by and large you will not be disappointed with this hotel.

First time I been to Crieff Hydro was March 2011, deeply impressed the dedication of staff and family feel I recognized. Since then, I back there for 2 Christmas alone but I never felt alone, staff around me made me always feel at home and all of them runs a mile for you. Met the owner as well, very nice and never forget about the pipe playing during my 2012 Christmas lunch by Stephen and his sons.
love to be back........

DO NOT BOOK WOULD BE OUR ADVICE. We were booked to go in December, we have paid our deposit and the balance is due to come off in November.
Given the current situation and travel restrictions in Scotland we called on Friday to try and rearrange our visit to sometime next year.
We were told No, they would take full payment and only consider any rearrangement in December.
Totally unhelpful and zero effort to engage or be flexible. Possibly the worst response we have had from any company during these difficult times.

With regard to your reply.

This was simply not the case,
We asked the member of staff to speak to management and let us know why we couldn't change our dates.
She called back and told us we her manager said "we are too busy to make booking changes".
Yesterday we called again and asked if there was any change to this situation, we were told no you would still take payment in full and let us know in December if we would be able to change our dates.
So we had to cancel and forfeit our deposit.
Who shall I ask for when I call as your staff wouldn't let us speak to a manager?

A wonderful place to stay with or without famiy. There are a vast amount of activities to keep the children happy. The child care lets mums and dads get a break too. They cater for animals.too.

Great venue in lovely grounds with plenty to do for all of the family. We ate at sister hotel Murraypark just a few mins walk and recommend it. There's also 4 destination chargers for your EV if you drive one!

Awful experience here some time back. Staff were rude, unhelpful and generally dismissive of complaints. Used to come here on a semi regular basis, wouldn't kennel a dog here.

Place has gone downhill, needs updated and staff need sacked. Real shame.

This is a hotel for families. Don't go here if you don't love kids cause they are EVERYWHERE!!! Foods good. Just won't go back simply because we need a bit of peace and quiet when away from home. Staff excellent.

Went here for a weekend break the hotel was full of ignorant screaming children the food had to be sent back twice and then to top it off they tried to change us extra for the food we hadn't eaten don't think wee would go back.

This is a great hotel, very child friendly (but loads for the adults) and welcoming staff. Loads of activities, such as cycling, riding and golfing, or you can just splash in the pool (baby pool and jacuzzi included) for a couple of hours.

With plenty of hiking or flat walks taking you through pretty woods to lovely views in only a short while, it has the Highlands on its doorstep but everything in easy reach. Breakfast is good - avoid the 8:30-9:30 rush if you can - and even the fancy restaurant isn't starchy - you can wear jeans and polo shirt if you want, or dress up for the occasion.

Tips: Book ahead for activities like pony trekking or a Saturday dinner. Try the lawn bowls. The pool is basically empty at dinner time (6pm to 8pm). Walk up to the top of the Knock for lovely views from Perth to the Highlands.
