If you are McGill student with some extra cash looking for an outside gym, then this is the place. It costs a bit more than La Cite but is infinitely better. Also much better than the McGill gym which I found to be quite busy and packed 24/7 (albeit it is much cheaper). Probably the nicest gym I will ever be a member at. I am sad that I have to graduate and leave it behind :(

I have been having problems with my neck and right shoulder so I decided to book an appointment with George Demirakos. I was unsure, and this was my first time with him, but I have to say, he did a great job. Easy going, knew his stuff, worked for many years in the field. I trust the guy. He knew right away the problem points in my neck and back. He was massaging / feeling out different parts and they released a lot of pressure. He then gave me exercises to do on my own, printed sheets for me. Overall, great experience, super helpful. Thanks George!

I love this place. The employees are well informed, there is a program for Olympic athletes, a swimming pool, basketball and even a bistro. They also offer relaxing or athletic massage services, ashiatsu massage, physiotherapy, osteopathy treatment and even acupuncture.

Great place. Good equipment, ample space, very clean locker rooms.

Multiple levels. Have additional services that are useful such as having your own permanent locker and laundry service. Basketball, spa, even nutrition.

Part of weight loss journey going here: over 50 pounds. I thank them very much :)

$30 daily access gets you into a great open space and lots of machines if that's what you're into but equipment is older and mucky and floors are Filthy ! - Showers flourish with think mold and changing room (men's at least) have not had a good sweep in ages ! - Heaven for germs ! And don't you dare mentioning it to the arrogant and condescending staff who will roll their eyes up and remind you they are considered "The poshest gym in town". Really people ! Not returning anytime soon.

They closed their main location for two years to build a luxury condo building and now we are stuck with a small unpractical temporary space with a limited set of machines for two years.
And the best part: They still charge $125 a month.
Thanks for the back stabbing Club MAA!

Wanted to stop by today to visit the place as I just moved into the area. When I arrived I was told I couldn t visit the gym before subscribing. Either I signed a contract right away without seeing anything or I paid a 30$ daily access to walk around the place for a couple of minutes...

Nobody was available to tour the place... The lady at the counter clearly wasn t interested in touring me (she didn t seem much interested in anything tbh), and she didn t want to let me have a peek by myself before I made a decision....Big lack in customer service which I find very disappointing as the location of the gym was ideal for me.

Alan Michael Wong masseuse. I had a massage tonight from Alan, it was one of the best massages I've ever had. He is very knowledgable and has also studied the art of walking on your back (without his full weight of course). The back massage with feet is a superior treatment to a hand massage, sounds wired but it's not, it really goes deep into those large muscle groups. He is also trained in hot stones, he combined three different therapies in one session. Not many people are familiar with having your back walked on, I have had this done to me in Japan and Thailand that I can tell you it is the best massage you will ever have! Not many people in North America know how to do it and Alan is specially trained for this. If you have never tried it, you really should!

It was, hands down, the best gym in Montreal.

It was, hands down, the best gym in Montreal.

With extraordinary teachers and superbly varied courses (Dance with the inimitable Uriel, spinning with the fantastic Tony, the military bootcamps with the explosive Heather, the sessions of Bartendaz with the charming Dazl, the aquaform with the friendly Daniel ...)

An exemplary clean gym, kept in impeccable order by an absolutely phenomenal, kind, polite housekeeping staff and always there to help.

A gym with a fun bar, led by energetic and motivated people (hi to Fany!)

Then came the lure of gain.

The desire to make more money.

And now members have learned, in a professional way, that their place of training, gathering, social life, would be closed to be called "renovated". In reality: to be decked out with an atrocious turn to condos (because that's exactly what's missing in downtown Montreal: even more condos that will be bought to be rented on aibnb, and the devil the life of district!)

So the MAA closes. Members are relocated to gyms in nearby hotels without even having their subscription fees lowered (what an insult!).

And we would bet our training shorts and running shoes that at reopening, the prizes will double for new members, which will make the sport inaccessible to even more people who can not afford to spend so much money just to get together , stay healthy, and have a good time together.

Thank you for the wonderful years, MAA, but today I put a cross on you.

Many of us feel cheated and insulted by the treatment we receive.

(Note to the owner: thank you not to send me a false contrite message like "We are sorry that our relocation does not suit your needs, blah blah." No, I do not want to try your courses that will be given to the Omni No, I do not want to train in the gym at the Delta Hotel - which is frankly insulting, and no, I do not want to visit one of your future millionaires penthouse.)

Good luck with your condos reserved for the 1% of the most privileged of our society and foreign investors who will never set foot there. I hope you will have a long time the disappointment of nearly 3000 faithful members on the conscience.

Easily the best gym in the city. Yes it's a little expensive but for good reason. The gym is super spacious with all the equipment you need and resources you need. I never have to wait for equipment and it's never super busy. The staff is friendly not to mention the amenities included (towels, disposable razors, soap, shampoo etc.). For 109$ a month it's really not that much more than the other gym. Like everything else you get what you pay for. I've been to other gyms in the city and it's worth the extra money in my opinion.

I joined the MAA two years ago. Every year I also hired the services of a private trainer for about 10 to 15 classes. I have tried most free classes and, for personal preference, I opt for all high energy classes such as FIIT, Bartendaz, etc. The equipment is well maintained even though the club has about 3000 members. The swimming pool is spotless. In the women's changing room, every Wednesday, we get a new set of flowers. We have a sauna, a spa, a restaurant which offers delicious and nutritious meals with plenty of great options (take out, etc). Every month we have a newsletter where the activities of the month are announced. And every month is something new.
We also benefit from medical services, massotherapy, massage, a beauty spa and much more.
Not a place to be bored!

People with money generally have it because they do not waste it. $130+ a month (for 1-year signup factoring in initiation fee) for a membership at this place is laughable. Yes, that's right, $130+/mo for a gym membership. There is absolutely nothing at this facility that would make me contemplate that type of membership cost. They are not even open 24 hours. They are not even open before 6am? Don't you think people with the means to consider paying your ridiculous membership rates have busy careers and would need flexible gym hours?? The whole membership age-related scale is also extremely offensive. Under 30 you pay one price, 30-34 another, over 35+ yet another price. In my opinion this amounts to age discrimination. But I could put up with all of that if I actually thought it was worth it, but for this price no sane person would cough up $130+/mo for a pretty looking gym when there are comparable options in the area.

Coming from out of town for q quick vacation I didn't really know where to go to workout. I called them in advance the gentlemen that worked there was very polite and let me know I could do a drop-in rate because I don't live in Montreal. I arrived and the same gentlemen was really good with showing me around and what it has to offer, again very helpful. The sport club has tons and tons of equipment to offer, with alot of unique equipment as well. There is also a gym, swimming pool and studio for fitness/yoga classes. I was blown away with how much it had to offer. It was classier establishment as well, with locker rooms that has everything you need. If I lived in Montreal I would definitely look into getting a membership here!

One of the best sports club in North America. The club offers the latest classes. The staff is friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. You can also unwind, and grab a drink at the bistro.

Disregard the negative comments about the membership fees. You're joining a club, not just a regular gym.

Interesting fact about the MAA, it has won more Stanley Cups than the Ottawa senators, Calgary flames, and Vancouver cannucks
