Fantastic weekend child friendly, life all over the hotel. Staff could not have been more helpful, great meals. Feel so good since we were there with twins, clean and children so welcome. Made us enjoy our stay. Deserves lots of visits, I wonder how many children will have there weddings there in the future.
Brilliant stay here with our granddaughters. Loads for them to do all day. They had a ball!
A real effort made here, from the menus, especially those for children, to the general cleanliness, maintenance, ambience, and staff friendliness. Highly recommended to stay or for the day.
Haven't been for a couple of years absolutely fantastic cleanliness staff and food was excellent thank you
Liked it - was clean and had friendly staff in the main. However there was not enough seating to meet the demands for breakfast in the morning and when asked to wait we were forgotten about for 30 mins and then had some breakfast items that were now empty e.g. bacon (and I love my bacon )
Rooms are great. Activities are excellent although early booking is required
Lots for kids. Miekle restaurant was extremely good but the other restaurants, while slightly cheaper were substantially less enjoyable.
Great location, and plently of amenities, rooms was ok, and the brakfast was very good
The hotel is very large , alot going on for kids . Staff were very friendly , room was ok but very hot no aircon , the brasserie was a good meal and nice cocktail in the meikle bar , breakfast was plenty and nicely cooked but arrive before 9 or you will be queueing to get in all in all very nice night away and i woukd recomment a try
Nice accommodation with plenty to do. The family friendly brasserie resteraunt was ruined by loud swearing guests.
Popped in for lunch. As always received a nice welcome, ordered a lovely meal in the Bistro. Delicious and good value. Surroundings are light but some areas do have tables too close to each other.
It has nice views, goof sevices only the food is always the same.
My favourite hotel in Scotland. Mafeking so meany memories hear.
All the staff at the stables are very friendly, especially Ross who stays behind after hours to help . Love the rabbits. Michael was extremely helpful in organising a lodge upgrade for us.
Sadly after 6 years this will be our last visit to crieff hydro due to unhelpful and inflexible responses of staff/customer service. We were booked for Easter which was cancelled for obvious reasons. Instead of refund, we wanted to support More
Great place to stay and walk around. Staff were very helpful and food choices were great and varied.
Traditional, family-friendly hotel with good rooms, plenty of activities, nice surroundings and decent restaurants and bars.
Not just a hotel it has a lot of different leisure activities to do on site also a central hub to discover the Scottish highlands
Stay in a cozy cabin for the second time this year and absolutely loved it. Theres plenty to do with our 3 year old and 1 year so they were never bored.
Incredible views, great food and coffee. Haven't stayed there yet, but seems like a great place, with lots for kids to do as well too.
Excellent location, great activities centre (high roping and quad biking were our favourites) and lovely atmosphere.
Excellent facilities, friendly staff. Family orientated.
Great facilities. Brilliant for families. Excellent restaurants with first class service
Great place. You can do almost everything you want here. Very hospitable.
Really enjoyed our stay, relaxed as boys could run off and you felt they were safe
A fantastic venue for a wedding.
My partner and I got married at Crieff Hydro this Summer, and could not be happier with our choice to go with the hotel as our venue.
As a smaller wedding party, we had the ceremony and wedding breakfast in the Loggia suite, a conservatory with a great view of the surrounding landscape, then moved down to the Fearntower suite for our evening entertainment. The suite had a spacious dancefloor and a side room that was slightly quieter that people could talk in comfortably. We had a ceilidh band so were delighted with the space to dance and the area to cool off after!
The hotel's wedding coordinators, Kayleigh and Claire, were very friendly and helpful through the process, making sure everything was well planned out and coordinating well with the band, registrar and others up to the date. They had a comprehensive plan for the day and the whole event ran really smoothly.
The wedding breakfast was fantastic, as were the canapes and the extra-marital meals that we had at the hotel - particularly the cooked breakfasts and the Italian restaurant on site.
We stayed in the honeymoon suite after the wedding for a couple days, which was a very luxurious, comfortable suite to stay and rest once the day's events were done.
An extremely good value for money, we had a wonderful wedding at Crieff Hydro, and fully intend on returning in a year's time for our first anniversary.
Over priced food which is poor quality expensive alcohol nice grounds and views with walks near by
I used to come here twice a year with my family 20 years ago as a child. Fond memories of the treasure hunts, colouring competitions and the sugar mice from the local sweet shop!
Would love to visit again.
Reception staff member I spoke too was not helpful.
Great stay at the Hydro . Great food nice rooms lovely sauna . Will definitely be back
Pros:
Friendly staff, good child care facilities.
Cons:
Beyond the reception area and restaurants, the hotel is very tired looking and in desperate need of an upgrade. Creaky floors, discoloured paint and out of date styling. We were in an "executive family room", which sounds plush, but was anything but. No temperature control, tiny TV and lumpy spring mattresses.
On the first morning, breakfast was busy - so busy that we had to wait 20 minutes for a table! That was definitely a first. Been to many places, but never have I had to wait for a table for breakfast. Yes it's busy, but ensure you have adequate resources to cater for all guests. Not pleasant to wait around in a lounge for breakfast, especially with young kids.
A great place for family. Marvelous facilities and walks
Great staff in a lovely setting and excellent adherence to the difficult measures needed to combat COVID.
Disappointing. Living off past reputation.
Activities. Plenty of activities on offer if you are prepared to pay for them. The pool was cold (by hotel standards), so don't expect warm water swimming. Sauna was nice (somewhere to heat up after being in the pool!)
Parking. This is awkward. Limited drop-off points so if you end up in the main car park it's a bit of a hike with luggage to the reception.
Summary. Overall disappointing. I've experienced better service in a Premier Inn at a fraction of the price. I wasn't expecting Gleneagles but the lack of attention to detail was disappointing for what the hotel claims to offer. If you are looking for a decent hotel with plenty of activities then this may suite you but if you want a luxury family break then you should look elsewhere.
Beautiful room with friendly and helpful staff. Restaurant food was top notch.
Excellent food and customer service , can't wait to come back !
An interesting garden and a very extensive breakfast menu: from European to Scottish. It is worth to slow down and stop for a few days, although the costs are not the lowest. In a word - we pay for the standard we get. Over 250 rooms with a warm climate and 3 restaurants guarantee that you will not be hungry. Note: Brasserie Bar are very tasty Mojito drinks! I would recommend!
This hotel has seen better days. The rooms are crusty, decor is dated, noise seeps in from everywhere and there is no control to manage room temp. Its just always hot. The staff are very nice and attentive, food is ok and the alcohol is stupidly expensive. The hotel is family friendly but has no whole milk... lots of kids activities which seem good.
Nice hotel in lovely grounds with lots of activities for children .
Great setting. Ideal place for a restful break. Crieff had little to offer but the hotel had enough to keep us amused.
Tiffin, indian experience food was awesome, id recommend..however waiting half an hour for a dessert and the bill not having the 10 pound off per person took the shine off what couldve been a great night.
Stayed for a 3 night stay into New Year 2019 at Crieff Hydro, Crieff, Perthshire, Scotland. Fantastic time with my family. Plenty food & activities. Cost covered full breakfasts, 3 course lunch and dinner, Welcome drinks meeting the owner & his family, wine tasting, Quizzes, kids clubs X3 sessions (pay extra for evening session). Children's other activities. The Zoo, science boffin, learning character sketching, Magician, swimming pool. Also Victorian Swimming Pool for Adults. Pay a nominal fee for that. Massive hotel. Gift shop, Gym, green bowls, squash courts, gardens, large outdoor chess game, Trampoline, bike hire, Teenager area & much more. If don't take package can book into room only or self catering accommodation. Eat in The hub, Brassier, The Meikle, The Picola, The Winter Garden or The Murry Park hotel which is sister hotel & walking distance but if can't walk is car park. Also car park facilities at Crieff Hydro. Extra activties you pay for, horse riding, quad biking, segways, golfing, Spa/hairdresser, climbing wall. There is a out door play park, Tennis courts or just having walk in beautiful countryside. Checkout website for yourself and would recommend a stay. No hotel has so much to offer for all ages. Crieff Hydro celebrated their 150 years as a family run hotel. Modernised but still has the beautiful features from its original build.
Real good rates and quality accomodation & facilities.
Had a great time at the spa. The treatment was fantastic, the pool and spa facilities had everything we needed and are well maintained and the brasserie were helpful and relaxed about catering for vegans.
Had a great time met a lot of friends the staff were great the food was OK I was at the meikle for six nights same menu lighting was bad a couple of evenings could not see the menu writing on the blue or grey paper. From miss fraser
Wonderful facilities, room was nice and comfortable. Good selection of eateries.
We have stayed lots of times before and love to go. Staff are amazing and a lovely hotel. If you are going to Crieff stay at the Hydro
Loreta makes amazing gin and tonics down at the brasserie. Very hospitable staff.
Lovely gardens, plenty of room inside
Will visit again
Gorgeous hotel and grounds. Lovely lunch in tge cafe and staff were all lovely.
Lovely time away, so much to do. Really quiet. Lodge was amazing! So much space and have pretty much everything you need for a very comfortable stay.
Great time. Really friendly staff and great facilities
Friendly staff, great activities, nice rooms. Lunch was a bit of a shambles though, just due to the number of people at the event.
Good lodges, good for families with kids. Good facilities.
Family room very spacious. Loads to do for every member of the family. Can't wait to go back!
It's a bit expensive but well worth it for a great family holiday whatever the weather and whatever the time of year. Big Country has been wonderful for our kids (2 & 4) even though they've often been cautious about other childcare. So much we could do we felt we'd need months to get through all the possibilities. Lovely food. Great rooms. Interconnected rooms are great for families too.
Looks like they've sorted the issues with refurbishment/decor and wifi mentioned by some reviewers.
Nice location, food and drink nice, but don't seem to have enough staff on duty, lots of long queues front of house at restaurants waiting to be seated and while being served have to call over staff to order, chase up orders, etc.
Great family hotel. Great selection of restaurants and the service on all fronts is top class.
Spa day was lovely, but staff on spa reception charged us for use of the facilities despite us insisting it was part of our package- they said it wasnt, without even checking. Only after we paid did they actually check and refund us. Wrong way around, surely?
