If you can get one of the lower rates (got 267 a night traveling for work) this place will make you feel like royalty. Great, fast service, they check in on you often and will even text you if you choose that option. They don't unnecessarily wash sheets and towels during your stay (only if you request it) and offer many services. I was ever able to order a hypoallergenic, fragrance-free room which was great since many hotels launder their sheets in rough detergents that make me break out. Gorgeous hotel, lots of history, amazing ballroom, nice park with a fountain, Tonga Room serves strong drinks, cafe Cento while not amazing has a decent quiche, and everything was generally picturesque.

You will have to pay extra for internet access, whether you connect directly or wirelessly; "long distance" domestic calls are astronomically expensive (25 dollars for 6 minutes). As soon as I texted that the safe in my room didn't work they had someone up very quickly and got it fixed. Valet parking is 70 dollars a day though the valet folks will again, treat you like royalty, and often remember your vehicle number and perhaps even where you're headed if you head out to the same place daily. Fridge comes stocked and anything your remove will be added to your bill, they can send up another fridge if you want to store your leftovers from various restaurants, but be sure to ask for any and every service if there's a cost associated just in case.

Very nice hotel with clean rooms and comfy beds. The view from our room was really amazing. You have to pay for wifi though. Seems like the more expensive a hotel is the more you have to pay for the extra amenities.

A group of us went to the Tonga room for drinks and dinner. The place is fantastic if you've never been before. Very cool and original. Food and drinks can be expensive so I recommend going during happy hour. If you're there during the band performing they will add 10 per person to the check as well. Well worth it!

Went in to the Tonga Bar to enjoy some drinks with my family. The decor was amazing and the vibe was humming. Despite being busy, we were able to get right up to the bar and order our drinks. Unlike many other themed bars, the bartenders knew what they were doing and poured nice stiff drinks. Will happily return!

Our overnight at the Fairmont was spectacular! From setting up the reservations for the hotel and the meal reservations, to the vallet staff parking our cars, to the staff at the front desk when we checked in and out, everyone was just wonderful. The bellhops, the waiters at dinner and breakfast that we had in the Laurel Court room, (I wish I could remember everyone s names), were all fantastic. Our wonderful waiter even took extra care to help my 90-year-old mother to be comfortable at our lovely brunch. The custom made breakfast omelettes were wonderful, as was our friendly conversation with our great chef. We loved the complimentary wine and appetizers in the mezzanine as well and the roof top terrace. The decorations were gorgeous and everyone took time to wish us Happy Holidays. Thank you so much for making our trip so special. We we will definitely be back. Happy Holidays!

The Fairmont has wonderful amenities and rooms for professional events. The rooms are large and spacious, and the decor is classy. There are multiple floors of conference rooms, able to accommodate hundreds of people.

The Fairmont San Francisco is a beautiful and elegant hotel. The rooms are comfortable, clean, and luxurious. My interactions were limited to the valet and front desk staff, but both were pleasant and helpful. I enjoyed my staff and wish I had visited a bar or restaurant. There was an event on the floor above mine and the soundproofing wasn't ideal.

Very expensive but was well worth the money for my wife and I on our 7th anniversary. The hotel is beautiful, with a historic and modern feel at the same time. My only advice is DON'T bring a rental car, parking is extremely overprice, $70+ a night, not mention valet warned us saying cars usually get broke in at night even with in front of the building. Solution: just uber everywhere and you will be fine!

Gorgeous property, spacious rooms, first class service. Location is mixed bag. Relatively close to a lot, but the hills are so steep, you'll likely end up taking cabs quite often.

Very telling when not one member of staff ask you how your stay is
.
From the slow service in the restaurant, to the cold food that was finally delivered, to the uncleared bathroom and the required walk through a derelict hall to get to your room, my stay could not have been worse.

Room service was quick and good - the doormen EXCELLENT, greeting guest by name and providing helpful suggestions.

If only the concierge was as helpful, or at least at the concierge stand.

A mere shadow of its former self, this hotel is trading of its history rather than the current level of service.

Booked hotel with early check in, but no room available as previous guest didn't check out. No temp room even I insisted as two young kids exhausted after 15 hours flight. Finally got a temp room for kids after 3 hours waiting.
The lobby is full of people like shopping mall. I will stay in this hotel next time. .

Probably one of the most beautiful hoteles in San Francisco. We visited it during Christmas time and it was magical. Decorations were amazing, the lobby is spectacular and even they have a gingerbread house inside for families to visit. If you re in Nob Hills, it s worth coming in and visiting it or even having a tea or coffee at the bar.

Rooms were clean if small, leaving two stars bc of the price gouging. Parking is $67 a night plus a 14% tax so you do the math. The website makes it look like there is a self parking option separate from valet but when you get there everyone tells you it s valet only and acted like we were crazy for asking why their sign breaks visitor parking out separately. Also they add a $30 per day fee just for WiFi and access to the gym among a couple other throw aways. All fees are highly taxed. No one charges for WiFi anymore or for gym access certainly not luxury hotels. This is clearly a tourist trap made to take advantage. They could build any fees into the room they only take them out for one reason to trick people into thinking they are getting a lower rate at booking than they actually are. I spent more on fees for a three day stay then I did for one night. This sort of thing is dishonest and takes away from the hotel s prestige, it may have been a great hotel once but now = TOURIST TRAP.

I went for a mini-reunion at the fairmont's restaurant. I have never gotten drinks here before and did not know what to expect. I was very pleasantly surprised, I got an old fashion, rum and coke, and Mai Thai. All were delicious and quite strong. We also ordered the fries and poppovers for some finger food, these were delicate and delicious. The waitress was very good at checking in to see if she could provide us with any more assisstance. The atmosphere was very relaxed and not to loud, there were a number of other small groups of people there (all looking very professional), there was plenty of space for everyone, as the room is massive as could probably fit 4 to 5 times as many people. It was all accompanied by a live pianist who played a number of beautiful pieces, stationed in the center of the room, which I thought was a very nice touch. To be honest I probably wouldn't come here on an average night, I'm sure it was all very expensive. However, for a professional / social gathering (or maybe date night) I will definitely return here as I had a great experience and left feeling quite content.

Beautiful hotel, beautiful rooms, great garden roof. The biggest disappointment was the staff. Very rude, not very helpful, had a care less attitude. Bar was way too pricey and bar staff were rude just alike. Not impressed.

Iconic SF architecture at the top of Nob Hill. This is what luxury looked like before the fire of last century. The cars outside are top notch, the bell boys in crisp whites, and the halls and lounges are broad and inviting.

Never stayed here but I bet it's a treat. For a bit more fun, check out the Tonga room at basement level. More of an older crowd though.

Decades worth of amazing memories with friends and notables. Amazing shows, events, parties, fundraisers, meals, meetings. Historic landmark is well maintained. Recently attended a gala that progressed inclusively through the Gold Room, Ballroom, and Tonga Room (finally had time to stay a while to enjoy the incredible live cover band).

Bay Area Cabaret - Useless Staff - They operate out of the Venetian Room at the hotel. They are unresponsive to my inquires about tickets when their web site states there are tickets available but their ticket vendor states the given show is sold out. I have called and left messages twice and the Bay Area Cabaret website is STILL WRONG! Ultimately the Fairmont has a responsibility since this vendor uses their space quite often.

Payed a lot of money for what we received and for our room not to be ready for check in. Our room was more expensive, smaller, and not as nice as our previous hotel that was right next door. We were offered a food credit for the inconvenience which we had to ask for (it did not cover the 2 drinks and one appetizer we had) and that credit was then not applied to our bill and we were charged full price. Had to call to get refunded the credited amount. Huge lines for check in and had to check in twice once they finally got our room ready. Poor service and overpriced. Many other patrons were very angry so I assumed it was potentially just a busy weekend or oversight. I would not recommend staying here. Parts of the hotel looked very nice. The food we had was good.

Hotel staff was very professional, helpful and accommodating throughout the multi day conference I attended. I did not stay at the hotel and thus can't speak to the hotel amenities beyond those available during the conference, but I would gladly attend an event here again.

My husband and I stayed here for a medical conference for 3 days. It wasn't spectacular, it felt like a normal hotel stay and for the cost I felt like it wasn't worth it. It has a great location and walking access to shops. That being said the customer service is not great. On our last night there were patrons screaming in the hallway and my husband and I were woken up several times to obscenities being shouted near the elevator. We were staying in the Tower building and I expected a quieter stay. In the morning there were empty vodka and wine bottles next to the elevator. I mentioned it to the clerk during check out and she told me that next time I need to call security and asked if I would like my receipt emailed to me. I felt ignored and brushed off. Next time I will not stay here and I will not recommend my friends stay here.

Beautifully decorated lobby at Christmas complete with walk through gingerbread house and champagne around the huge Christmas tree. If you hit it right, you can enjoy a pianist, too!

Great classic hotel, but price is high, gym and Internet are extra which is rough after spending $400 a night already. Staff was great and extremely helpful, but all food was outrageously priced.

ONE OF THE WORST STAYS PERIOD

ONE OF THE WORST STAYS PERIOD
I wonder if the CEO knows what's going on at this place . I wish I had great things to say . The worst offense besides the bed sheets that smelled like BO was the fact that a Birthday request was made and no follow through. This place is lacking in leadership and I am curious how they received a 4 1/2 diamond grade. Funny thing ...I spoke with another couple and they had the same feeling . Confusion and 2 stories told at the front desk . They should take some luxury service lessons from "The Mark Hotel" (*across the street ) . This place is definitely not worth the money . Hopefully corporate will read this and make some corrections . Definitely not the "San Francisco treat ".

The rooms are beautifully designed, but not particularly comfortable. They need better linens and could stand to be introduced to the concept of fabric softener. The blankets and pillows are thin and the extra blankets we requested feel like foam. Everything about the hotel feels like they are trying to squeeze as much money from you as possible. Even if that's true of most hotels, it ought to be invisible.

We mainly went it for the Christmas decorations. They had a two storey ginger bread house which was really awesome. They had also made a few side displays around the Christmas theme which was very nice. I do recommend checking it out during the holiday season if you are around.

The Fairmont is an iconic hotel with incredible history in San Francisco. The service was as you'd expect-excellent and professional. The facility and grounds are well maintained. The rooms were nice with comfortable beds and good amenities. Room was very clean, although I missed turn down service. Complementary coffee and tea are included in the room. The old photos are not be missed.

Convenient location from the airport and I am so amazed at the service here. The breakfast buffet is amazing and provides so many western dishes. Kevin provides us with spectacular service and very attentive to our needs. We enjoyed the quiet stay in our hotel room with clean sheets and towels. WiFi is also very fast. We look forward to staying here again in the future!

The Fairmont SF was a great place for our team building event. The large windows and beautiful gardens helped to create a wonderful and elegant atmosphere. The staff were attentive and polite.

Definitely a little disappointed. The rooms were great and I loved the amenities of the hotel. The hotel had a great location and was very historic but it definitely was disappointing. We were here during the holidays and there were hundreds of people coming in to see the gingerbread house and Christmas tree. It was so overcrowded, kids were crawling on the floor. It was a mad house! I think that for the people who are actually spending the night at the hotel verses people who are just coming to enjoy it, you should limit the people who come in just to see the hotel definitely during the holiday season because we are not going to stay here again with the experience that we had over the weekend.
