From the momemt we set foot in the restaurant we were treated well, loved all the service staff at the door that greeted us. Our servers name was larenzo (I appoligize if I miss spelled the name) he was fantastic and very accommodating for my girlfriends shellfish allergy and even went so far as to adjust the temperature of the dining room we were in! He was great help with the wine list and the menu! The chefs cooking there are as talented as any 3 Michelin star restaurant (weve dined at several) everything was seasoned and plated perfectly. We felt like celeberties dining here and would highly recommed commanders palace to everyone we know. I can not say enough posotive things. Your team has gastronomy and gastrophysics down too a T.

Beautiful restaurant that lives up to it's reputation. The atmosphere and food were outstanding as well as the service. One of the best places to eat in the Big Easy...a dress code is required so make sure you are prepared.

Can you go wrong with Sunday Jazz Brunch at Commander's Palace? The answer is a resounding no.

Commander's has been a mainstay in the Garden District for as long as I can recall. The atmosphere is always festive, the food is great (don't miss the turtle soup au sherry), and the service is always on point and friendly without being obtrusive.

Commander's should be on your "don't miss" list when visiting NOLA.

What hasn't been said about Commander's Palace? Of course I gave it 5 stars - this is a restaurant that will always live up to the hype. The food is phenomenal and from bite one you are in food heaven. But it is the staff that makes it absolutely worth while to treat yourself to this decadence. The amount of respect and pleasantry from the staff is unparalleled. And for the record, the 3 martini lunch is definitely worth enjoying on a weekday - but you won't be getting any work done afterwards

This place was atrocious and rude. The reception staff asked me to leave when I did not have a reservation. The old man bullied me and physically forced me out the door because I made a simple inquiry for a table for two for lunch. I would never recommend this place to anyone. The staff is unwelcoming and condescending and outwardly abrasive. No meal is worth this kind of hateful treatment of customers.

My husband and I were recently married and decided to celebrate together at Commander's! We excited to support the newly appointed Chef Meg.

We were blown away by how wonderful every aspect of our experience was. Our server, Vincent, and his team were excellent! The food was delicious. The atmosphere felt safe and pristine (which is important these days with the pandemic).

We recommend, 10/10!

In 2016, made a Mother's Day reservation for my family, six weeks in advance of Mother's Day, for 7 people. About a month before Mother's Day, my mother- and father-in-law decided that they would fly in from California to be with us for the holiday. I called Commander's to adjust the reservation from 7 people to 9 (keep in mind that this was a MONTH before Mother's Day, and an addition of 2 people to an existing reservation that had been made well in advance), and they told me that THEY COULD NOT ACCOMMODATE US. At that point, a month before Mother's Day, with no reservation, and a party of 9 people to worry about hosting, my husband and I ended up having to cook and clean for our parents On Mother's Day!!! (I have three children ) Shame on you, Commander's Palace. I won't be back.

Was skeptical of the "place that everyone goes to" but it didn't disappoint. Sunday Brunch was great with excellent service, live music (why not in New Orleans!) yummy food! And they had a little self guided walking tour of the Garden District that we did right after to burn off some of those calories!

I was thrilled to dine under the management of the first female chef and she did not let the team down. The three course prix fixe meal was so fairly priced, I would consider it a bargain.Food was flavorful and unfortunately for me I just didn t have the capacity to finish dessert but I loved it.

We enjoyed the meal, ambiance, and service. They offer Gluten Free options to those that are in need. I thought the food was well thought out and sometimes exciting in its preparation and delivery. They would often take every day meals and change them to make something new and fun.
I would say that they were very "relaxed" on their dress policy, and that was a little disappointing because we're paying for and expecting a nice venue. At one point, I saw a gentlemen walk through with workout pants and a running jacket...and this was during the dinner hour.

I came here for a friend's birthday and we had such a great time! They decorated the table with balloons and the owner came by to personally thank us for eating there. We all got the tasting menu and it did not disappoint! Our server was also excellent! She let us each get a different dessert so that we can get a variety! The creme brulee was the best!

After all the hoopla and after trying the best restaurants in NOLA we finally gave the Commanders Palace a try. I don t know if it was our choice of dishes but we found the place second to none. We went with the full tasting menu and it s optional wine pairing. The experience was truly wonderful. Incredible dishes. Very attentive staff. Very authentic NOLA fine restaurant atmosphere. It has seven different dining rooms. And we got to travel through the kitchen on our way to our table. (Video enclosed). A member in our party passed on delicious desserts due to allergies and the resulting creme boule was unique and delicious. The tasting menu doesn t include the soups so we can t comment on them. But the entrees and appetizers were all superb. Highly recommend it.

Top notch service worthy of finest dining, but without pretension. Servers have grace, humour and spirit. Food was excellent. Particularly enjoyed the quail. Bloody Mary was worthy of the accolades. Music was phenomenal. Great vibe; one of the highlights of our time in New Orleans. Come hungry.

Awesome! Classy but not stuffy. Great lunch specials and food was outstanding. Friendly and welcoming staff. Beautiful courtyard. Right across the street from Lafayette cemetery and quick walk to historic streetcars for easy ride back to French Quarter. If you not in NOLA for many days, this is a must as you can cross off many of the NOLA must dos in one trip.

Exsquite food, overly generous wait staff, phenomenal service. Bring lots of money, but it's worth the cost. Valet parking is available too, which is good as the restaurant is in a space constrainted area.

Top of the line restaurant. The service is nothing short of excellent. My server Kendall even walked me to the ladies room LOL Man, you could drop your napkin and someone would run over and place it back in your lap. EVERYONE greeted us when we walked in and when we left out. They are even comfortable allowing you to walk through the kitchen. Food was seasoned well.

Something has changed at Commander's. Been going once or twice a year for years for special dinner events, but had a disappointing experience last night for an anniversary dinner. Called weeks back to reserve seating one of the Garden Room window tables which were all taken when we were seated. Understand that they don't guarantee specific tables. No problem, and they seated us nearby, but 5 minutes after we were seated, two of the tables cleared, and were then seated with some important looking guests who had obviously had better connections. Did not remember paper menus that seem more appropriate for Shoney's but maybe they have been there for a while. Server spoke so quickly with rote descriptions we had to keep asking her to repeat what she said. She apologized saying she had too many tables. Sorry, not my problem. We got her slowed down and that helped. Had the three soups, and the turtle was great, the gumbo and bisque were surprisingly way too thick and pasty. Stick with the turtle. Entree descriptions are really confusing with all of the obtuse ingredients, and the choices seemed limited. Not sure if there were specials but we were not offered any. Chosen entrees were a citrus/chile encrusted swordfish which sounded great but was very strange tasting. I cannot imagine how anyone would find this recipe worth reproducing. The Osso Bucco was another thick and pasty attempt at reduction (like the gumbo and bisque) that was not complimentary to the veal shank. My wife took a couple of bites and the huge portion remained on the plate. I doubted her reluctance thinking she was just not hungry, so I tasted it and had to agree with her opinion. Surprisingly, a waiter did not offer to wrap the 90% of the dish remaining and started stacking dishes on top of the plate. Souffle bread pudding is now full of way too much cinnamon, and mine contained a thick tough bread mass -- very different than in the past. Capped the night off with coffee, and was never offered a "warm up" , and my ice water was not replenished when all of the nearby tables were. Overall, in observing the entire room, there were servers rushing everywhere, but our experience felt like mass confusion--not the Commander's service of the past that made you feel so special. It felt like everyone was trying their hardest, but the results were just not happening for us. And the food, well, other than the turtle soup, we had nothing I would recommend. So very sorry to feel that our favorite restaurant and celebration spot is losing its level of excellence.

This is my favorite restaurant in New Orleans. I love the food--it's classic and well prepared. The wait staff is very customer service oriented and they leave no stone unturned to ensure you have a great dining experience. You're always greeted very warmly when you arrive. Portions are really enough for 2! Thank you for a wonderful experience at Sunday brunch.

Everything here was great! Living in NYC, I have access to many wonderful restaurants. This restaurant is a contender! Everything was amazing from atmosphere, drinks, food, and service. The sidecar drink and pomme was really tasty. I would not say I'm an adventurous eater, but I did try the turtle soup! Wow, it really is great! I got the mini 3 soup trio and got to try the gumbo and the corn/shrimp chowder as well. I don't like or eat fish but was convinced to try the Sheepshead fish that was encrusted in pecans. It was amazing! Also got the cajun shrimp, the bananas foster, and the made to order strawberry shortcake. The shortcake was divine. Trust me, go here. Ask for Jared as your server.

Amazing lunch in the garden room! Excellent service and wonderful food! We had the 2 course lunch special, shared the souffle, and each had 2 martinis for $55! Dress nice and be prepared for a top-notch experience!

Went here on Sept 16, 2020, to celebrate a 50th birthday, and as always the food was excellent. They didn't rush us, the food was timed perfectly, staff was great. I'll continue to come back to Commander's.

This is the classic dining experience of Ne'lins. Make sure to book your reservation well in advance. Service was impeccable and food was divine. We arrived early for our reservation and waited in the tiny bar area. Which is attached to the open kitchen. We observed a fine tuned kitchen; one in which there is mutual respect for each person working there. Fine dining at its best - make sure you are dressed appropriately! P.S. you never know who else might be dining alongside you - not revealing any names.

We were planning a visit from Chicago to NOLA a few months in advance, and were hoping to dine for lunch during our trip at this highly rated establishment. Unfortunately, we were told that the dress code is unwavering, and so since we couldn't guarantee 3 months in advance exactly what we would wear (it had just snowed the day before in Chicago for the first time this winter!) for our Garden District Walking Tour that would end nearby, and could not be absolutely sure we would be comfortable in dress pants and collared shirts (instead of the khakis we were hoping to wear on our tour in mid-spring), we were not able to make a reservation for lunch on a Wednesday in late March.
With that said, the reservation specialist answering the phone mentioned several times that they were booked 6 months in advance, but he could take our reservation for less than 3 months out, if we could guarantee we would be dressed appropriately....
I understand that this is a 5-Star restaurant and all, but this makes me wonder why our Chicago money is not green enough in NOLA if we can't wear casual spring clothes where it doesn't snow?
Oh well, too bad. We will have to visit other establishments on our trip. I'm sure we will find a few good ones....
Perhaps there are other NOLA visitors that also find such archaic dress code restrictions too confining in this day and age? Is this a place for buzzards??

When in New Orleans this is just one of those places you have to go to. The food was excellent although you can find excellent food all throughout, the staff was more than the best and accommodating, the chefs were personable, but best of all, all of these aspects come together to create an experience unlike many others. And this is why I would recommend Commander's Palace, is for the experience.

One of the best meals I have ever eaten. The only reason why I didn't give it 5 stars is because our server was having a bit of an off day, and the tables surrounding us seemed to be given more attention---(my napkin was taken away and was to be replaced by a napkin that "matched" , but I never got another napkin"--and wine glass remained empty without asking if I would like another for an inordinate amount of time)---but really---besides those little incidents, the experience was truly amazing.

Service was amazing. The restaurant itself had a great feeling to it, unfortunately the food was no where close to the quality it should have been. My wife ordered the duck and 60% of it was a blob of fat. The rest of the food was ok but would have expected to be blown away by how good the reviews were. Would not eat here again. There's probably scores of restaurants in new Orleans that have better tasting food for less money. We were also advised of a strict dress code of collared shirt and dinner jackets for men but when we arrived there were men in sweaters.

The meal itself was fantastic as we have come to expect. We were in for lunch so the menu wasn't as expansive as the dinner menu but have no doubt, the options are delicious. From the chicken biscuit starter to the pecan pie a la mode, nothing was anything less than scrumptious.

The service... No idea what was going on with our server but she was just so impatient through the whole meal. Rushed one at our table through a drink selection (he ended up ordering something randomly because she just stood there staring at him) and that treatment continued through the meal. 3 of the 4 at the table were service industry, so it was easy to put things together - we were the last seating for the shift and she was ready to be finished. We all get that but this isn't a FQ dive, this is a prime restaurant in New Orleans where the bar is set higher.

Back up staff was great and personable, I don't believe a water glass in the room ever went below a quarter before being refilled. Nothing they did wrong in the least. Very attentive. We still tipped well, over 25% because we wanted to be sure that the tipouts hit the right people behind the scenes correctly for a job well done.

Truly spectacular! Fine dining that's also friendly. My favorite is the multi course lunch specials and to enjoy them in the Garden Room. Coffee is roasted and ground on site and is exceptional. $0.25 (yup really!) Martini specials if you get a multi course lunch meal. Exquisite service in historic and lovely atmosphere. Dress code (pants no shorts) even for lunch. Have brought my daughter to family celebrations here at 8 months and 19 months and she enjoyed the 2 hour meals with the attentive and thoughtful help of the splendid wait staff. Highly recommended, especially for memorable occasions!

Staff was very friendly and professional. I was worried about food portion sizes before hand but they ended up being perfectly filling. A bit pricey normally but we managed to get some amazing deals for a Coolinary special going on. Cosmopolitans were strong and flavorful. Overall a very good experience.

Not at all OVER rated. Fine dining food and service with low prices for anyone living North of the Mason Dixon. We almost died at the Filet Mignon and I'm still haunted by the delicious duck confit gnocchi.
