Went here for my son s 3d Birthday so he could swim in the pool. We were treated to an immaculate room with breathtaking views of the Bay Area and San Francisco! The staff is very friendly and helpful. We ll definitely be coming back as it s a great staycation from the SF grind!

Really nice hotel. I had to pick up some blankets there for work and the staff were very nice and helpful. I would definitely stay there in the future.
Had a wonderful two night stay here. The hotel lobby, grounds, room and service by all levels of staff was as you d expect at a Fairmont hotel. The bed and sheets were sooooo good, slept like a baby. We ate at the hotel, rode bikes, and booked a pool appt loved it!! No need to venture out of the hotel grounds.
We spent the week between Christmas and new Year's Day at the Claremont. We ate breakfast there every day and it was delicious. Our son-in-law and daughter plus our grandchildren all has good food choices. The view of San Francisco was spectacular on the clear days and great on the other days.
The grounds are beautiful and the spa and tennis courts are in great shape.
We enjoyed the happy hours and the great selections of wines. We are dinner there upon arrival and really enjoyed the food!
I highly recommend a stay at the Claremont. If they are not too busy and a certain suite i snot occupied, ask to go up to the "crow's nest". The view is wonderful!
Disappointing. Rooms are nice and the place has historical character. The club and spa are a big attraction but they open late and close early especially on the weekend so we were forced to pay for resort fee that we couldn't actually use. Parking is overpriced. The rooms were hot even though it was nice outside and air conditioning was mediocre. Hotel failed to provide requested fan to cool things off. Was upgraded to king room with hillside view that turned about to be a view of large piles of HVAC equipment rattling outside the window.
All things that aren't terrible but seem off for an expensive full service hotel.
You cannot go wrong with a classic property like this. The views and interior are both amazing. The older version of the restaurant paragon used to be great too. Valet parking makes check in fast and easy.
There were cob webs but besides that the service was great there pool is amazing and there child care is really good. But food prices were horrible, they were too high. For 2005 vintage wine:$350+
I was here as part of a group that was having our first meeting. We used the Alumni room for our meeting and it was perfect for our needs. The Claremont is a gorgeous hotel. I would love to stay here some time.
Lovely historic property with some interesting features. The goods: gorgeous setting amidst trees and a hillside plus that view!! There are many different lobby spaces to enjoy, whether you're watching the blue skies or a gray storm. Laptop and tablet lovers will enjoy the cove-like enclaves where you can escape what might be a stuffy room and feel the wonder and brilliance of days gone by. Also good: the staff! Cannot describe how attentive and helpful the folks at the front door have been. Just as dear as they can be. And the inside desk staff have many suggestions on how to help you enjoy the amenities as well as the local sights. The okay: This hotel has tried hard to improve, expand and change over the years. The result right now is sort of a fracture or lack of continuity of amenities, rooms, even the grounds. However! This is not the hotel's fault. The logistics of making the hotel a cohesive experience are difficult due to the terrain and the variety of buildings from different years. They do their best. What you'd need to do is keep in mind the ages gone before you, the changes in earth and even traditions. Stay here for the ambiance and for a taste of days gone by, keeping your patience and kindness at the forefront. You will have a lovely time. And trust me, it beats a cold and dank converted garage guest suite with one of those online homestay apps!
After the renovations this place is pretty superb! I don't like the parking fee, but what can you do. Even for an old building great spacious rooms, good ammenities, and Fairmont charm.
Beautiful venue for work or play. We had an amazing all day event here and I couldn't have been happier with the service. The hotel easily accommodated my group of 250 and gave us the Royal treatment, from food to drinks to onsite activities, planned by the hotel for our enjoyment! An amazing time from planning to event day!
Beautifully decorated for the holidays. Valet parking situation was a little messy, it didn't seem like they had the staff or spots to handle all the events they were hosting. Food was good.
Staff are friendly, rooms are clean but there are issues. The valets were awesome! Check-in staff was great too. Lamps in the room did not work. Sink was made for a 7 foot person along with the mirror. The top of the sink reached my upper chest making hand washing and teeth brushing awkward. I had to stand on a chair to see in the mirror to complete my make up and I am 5'2. The shampoos and soaps provided smell great and are a good product. The bed was hard and the pillows to soft but linens were fresh and blankets were warm. Windows leak so there is a constant draft. The entire hotel was remodeled but the best thing, the Paragon, was gone and so is their signature drink known as the claremont with blueberry infused vodka and lemonade. Lounges and bars serve weird snacks ... would have been nice to get a shrimp cocktail with oysters instead of duck ham. Spa is nice, amenties are great. All in all Id recommend a stay but even the cheap room is $400.
Attended a Kaiser-sponsored conference here. Beautiful setting, gorgeous interior. Onsite parking lot (validated for events). Many restrooms, very clean, lots of amenities. Stairs for easy access and exercise. Cheerful, responsive hotel staff.
I loved the food and they accommodate for diets. The rooms are very comfy and you can see the view ofnthe city from the window. Although I did not stay there, it was great just looking around and seeing the history and beauty of the place.
If the rest of our stay goes as well as our lovely greeting by Makiva at the front desk this might end up on my top hotels list. So far great location, views. Room is small but well appointed with beautiful view to the San Francisco Bay. Rain shower. Ps. Just checked out and our departure was equally as great. The lovely Audrey was super nice.
Have really enjoyed our visits here. Historic building with recently rennovated rooms. Lobby seating/bar areas have a nice mix but all with nice bay views. Pool / club area are really nice - currently under construction, but doing a great job to minimize inconvenience. Will stay again in future.
My work booked the hillary room for our annual christmad party and it was stunning. The view in unbeatable, and the decor was inviting. The food was also very good.
This is my place of choice for weekend trips to the city. It's on the expensive side but the well worth the price. Definitely pay extra for a view. If you don't you will get a window facing a hill over a parking lot with dumpster. If you pay extra, the view overlooks the bay with Alcatraz island and golden gate in the far ground.
4 stars because I can't recommend the sports club or pool. It's a local gym where non-hotel guests drop off their kids. It's always crowded and way overpriced. The hotel has a thing called a "pre-spa ritual" which is free one per guest but all it includes is access to a gender specific hot tub and steam shower. All other spa amenities cost more than the room themselves.
Great clean rooms, delicious food service, no problems!! Some extra services (like on demand movies) overpriced but that comes with the territory. convenient location near UC Berkeley
Fantastic hotel with a charming historical ambiance. The latter is present throughout the hotel and it really makes for a special experience. Room is large and the bed is very comfortable. The bathroom is luxurious and the toiletries have a lovely rose essence. The gym is very nicely equipped and well worth a visit. Staff are extremely friendly and helpful and make it a warm experience all around.
Double charge on the hotel room both in person and online. And it is impossible to connect with someone to resolve such issue after making several phone calls. Had to call my bank for disputing charge.
This is an iconic and quaint hotel right behind UC Berkeley. There s plenty to do in this area and there s so much good food around. When you arrive, they give you a welcome kit that includes hand sanitizer, disposable masks, and tissue. The bathroom inside the hotel was absolutely amazing with a beautiful bathtub and gorgeous mirrors. It is an old hotel, but the rooms are modern and clean.
Our company rented a meeting room here breakfast and service were excellent. Then we went down to Limewood For lunch. That was great as well. I love all the decor details and comfy nooks spread around the hotel.
Fine enough for business stay - rooms were small and fairly clean. Shades don't really shade. Doors don't "fit" into their frames, so there's no sound barriers at all. One person leaving their room down the hall is enough to wake you up. Bathrooms were insanely tiny...no countertop space anywhere to speak of. Fold out mirror installed poorly - they hang the hair dyers off of the mirrors and the weight is pulling the installment out of the wall slowly (but surely). Awesome water pressure in the shower, but traditional sliding glass door installment is cheap and gross.
Spa was atrocious. Horrible. Overpriced manicures and they don't even offer shellac. Manicurist "shaped" my nails instead of rounding, giving me two ingrown nail ends within a few days. Uneven coats and uneven lines, and chips within the first week. Hand massage was more of a rub down than a massage. Total process took far longer than it should have. Spa bathroom is dingy and needs a serious scrub.
This hotel is under renovation. Two stars because I wasn't there on vacation, and the bar is nice.
This historic hotel used to be full of charm, unique, one of the kind. The new owner remodeled the lobby and now it looks and feels like just any Fairmont hotel - the place lost its soul. They remodeled the club and again, the club lost its uniqueness....and its cheerfulness (blue lounges and umbrellas are replaced by black ones).
