Lovely historic property with some interesting features. The goods: gorgeous setting amidst trees and a hillside plus that view!! There are many different lobby spaces to enjoy, whether you're watching the blue skies or a gray storm. Laptop and tablet lovers will enjoy the cove-like enclaves where you can escape what might be a stuffy room and feel the wonder and brilliance of days gone by.
Also good: the staff! Cannot describe how attentive and helpful the folks at the front door have been. Just as dear as they can be. And the inside desk staff have many suggestions on how to help you enjoy the amenities as well as the local sights.
The okay: This hotel has tried hard to improve, expand and change over the years. The result right now is sort of a fracture or lack of continuity of amenities, rooms, even the grounds. However! This is not the hotel's fault. The logistics of making the hotel a cohesive experience are difficult due to the terrain and the variety of buildings from different years.
They do their best.
What you'd need to do is keep in mind the ages gone before you, the changes in earth and even traditions. Stay here for the ambiance and for a taste of days gone by, keeping your patience and kindness at the forefront.
You will have a lovely time.
And trust me, it beats a cold and dank converted garage guest suite with one of those online homestay apps!
