Prebooked pick up from the airport was fine but return taxi was 30 minutes late, almost missed our flight.

My husband and I were visiting Scotland this weekend (Christmas weekend) and used this taxi service about 4 different times. They are reasonably priced and very quick. Our taxis always arrived within 2-5 minutes. We had a different driver each time and all of them were very kind. Aside from the great service and cheap prices, the taxi service sends you a text confirming your ride and tells you who your driver is and provides a picture of them, lets you track your driver, tells you the make, model, & registration number of the vehicle the driver will be picking you up in, and they also ring you when they are pulling up to your location. I definitely recommend this taxi service.

Just waited 20mins in the cold...rang the driver and she said "I'm going home, I told them you were a no show and I wasn't doing it". Cheers.

Awful. Booked taxi 1hr and a half before needed the taxi and it was still 30minutes late. This then made us too late to get Into any club. My friends that had travelled from other cities do not want to travel to Edinburgh again and I am truly embarrassed to have called this company. Please ask staff to ask customers names as our taxi was stolen under a false name and my identity WA stolen.

What a rip off. didn't give me the 20% NHS discount even though I called 1 day before arrival at Edinburgh Airport. per mile twice the cost of London Black Cab. I can't believe in 2020 they don't use a meter to tell you the cost. I used City Cab this time instead of Uber..

I called for a cab to go to the airport in Edinburgh, and it arrived promptly. My driver was the friendliest person. We chatted the whole ride which is not something I m typically interested in doing. Thank you!

I'm not one to complain, but I booked a taxi through this company this morning and found the lady on the phone very rude. Once I got into the taxi the taxi driver was also very rude. Will not use this company again.

Excellent service always on time , drivers are polite and profesional ,and let you know when they are coming ,which cab and the driver, makes me feel very safe and secure.

Booked City Cabs a lot of times for my work places. Never had any issues with the drivers who were all friendly and quick but the call centre is a catastrophe. I can imagine that they have to reach targets and I feel sorry if they have pressure at their workplace. But I had someone on the phone a moment ago who was so unfriendly that I wished I would have just hung up. My colleagues around me were laughing already as they realized what was going on. Absolutely not a great customer service! Shocking! Never experienced something like that. Would never use them in private and already reported that to the company I work for.

Booked a taxi for my family including two 70 year old parents and an 8 year old to and from a restaurant in Queensferry. Dropped us off okay but after a lovely meal they didn't run up and rang us after the the taxi was due to say they couldn't find a car to pick us up. So despite 7 hours notice they stranded two septaganareans, told us that we had called rather than booked online they would have told us they couldn't take us (they had 7 hours to tell us that and were fine to take our money on the way out). Wouldn't recommend my worst enemy booked this firm of they actually wanted to be sure they got somewhere

Booked the night before for an early 05:30 pick up to go to the airport. Didn't turn up till 05:50 and only after calling them to chase up and holding for 8 minutes. Given unconvincing and useless explanation that they were busy and the car had been allocated. Of no use to me as the car wasn't there. 20 minutes goes a long way when you're catching an early flight.
Driver was pleasant enough, although no apology was offered, instead blaming the despatcher for calling him only just before he was due to pick us up.
Was forced to buy fast track tickets at the airport to be able to get through security in time for the flight.
Airport bookings MUST be taken more seriously, especially early morning. Won't be risking them again.

Taxi ordered for 05:30am. Waited in the cold for 20 minutes. Called 4 times and was promised a taxi 4 times. No taxi, resulting in me being late for opening up my buisness. Oh! There goes my phone 20 minutes later it's 05:50, my taxi's now here but I'm already at work by catching superb service by another company. Awful service. Want to begin your day in the worst possible way. Call City Cabs.

Booked a cab well in advance to take me home from ceilidh just after midnight Hogmanay. City Cabs phoned to cancel the booking 3 days before the event saying George Street would be closed. They would not arrange nearby venue for pick up 'in case you change your plans'. Friends booked in advance with a rival firm who are not taking new bookings - but at least they are honouring their existing ones and have arranged pick up from street nearby. Had City Cabs not cancelled at the last minute I would have had a chance to book with another firm in time. I am now likely to be stranded in the city centre waiting ages for a taxi home. Particularly affronted by the suggestion that I might 'change my plans'.

Spent a couple of days using City Cabs. Alwsys on time. Drivers were polite and chatty. Then I left my phone in on one of my journeys. Driver 44 thanks for getting my phone back to my hotel. You went past 5 stars. Great service thank you

I use the City Cabs App for all my taxi bookings in Edinburgh. Particularly great when coming out of a show in the small hours during the Edinburgh Festival.

Zero stars if I could. They didn't show up!!!! We booked an airport cab a month before our trip. They emailed us to confirm on the day. No show. My wife, daughter and I schlepped around the airport for a 1/2 hour. Thanks City Cabs!!!

Arrived within minutes and driver was very friendly .

We are Edinburgh residents and use this company regularly. The app is the best out there and the staff and drivers are helpful and polite. However we were very disappointed with the service on our wedding day. Trusting this company, we booked 2 UNMARKED hackney cabs for the bride and bridal party the afternoon before the wedding day. We were told at the time of booking that this was no problem and assurred this was no issue. However, the 2 cabs booked failed to arrive on time. One arrived 15 mins after schedule and when the bride phoned to query the 2nd taxi she was informed the late arrival was due to City Cabs being unable to deliver 2 UNMARKED cabs at the same time. Ultimately the bride arrived unfashionably late for her wedding and although subsequent drivers were reasonably embarrassed this could have easily been avoided had the company informed us of their issue with specific bookings. If you need a cab to get from A to B, no major issues, however if you are relying on City to go above and beyond, look elsewhere.

Really unfriendly driver. Will never repeat with this company.

Pre-booked taxi was 25 mins late. When rang there telephone operator said there is no taxis in the area?!
Was pre-booked the day before!
If you want to be somewhere on time, use another company.

The hotel called the taxi for me. I have been waiting for 30 minutes and still no cab show up. I have been to many countries and cities and this is the worst cab company in the world. Just don't use it!

Had to book a taxi to take my poorly dog to the vet today. Mentioned to switchboard we had a dog with us. No problems. Taxi driver could not have been nicer.

Need I say anymore about a company that clearly employ dangerous drivers. I hope if the company owners get a chance to review this program on TV they can see how inconsiderate, dangerous and violent one of their drivers is.

Booked a taxi in advance for airport.. taxi late 15 minutes. I had to call uber for avoid missing be late for my flight

The drivers are always good, however the call centre and booking system is always terrible. I booked a taxi today using the automated system at 4:50 to get a taxi to collect my car at 5:30. Realising at 5 that I might not get a taxi in time I called up and was told that the taxi would be five minutes. I waited until 5:20 when I realised it was pointless and called to cancel. The operator was rude and claimed that my booking using the automated system was somehow to blame. The garage is now closed and I won t be booking with Citicabs again. By all means use the taxis in the town but don t bother calling.

Absolutely shocking service! Left my 15 year old daughter and their friends on the lang wang (scotland s most dangerous road) in the middle of no where as they said they would pay the money when they arrived at their destination, they had the correct amount of money also so we not trying to avoid paying. My child and their friends had to walk home after phoning multiple times to seek help and some parents had been drinking and others working! I am outraged, no one should ever use their service as they are disgusting the way they treat people. The driver also used the racial card as an excuse to leaving them in the middle of no where!! Not to forget the -6 weather outside! Disgusting service!

Waited about 40 mins for a cab from Harvey Nics that was willing to take a wheelchair. Staff there had to phone 3 or 4 times. When eventually we got picked up the attitude of the driver was not great.
Result= spoiling a rare evening out with my disabled mother. She came home and went straight to bed, feeling a nuisance to all.
Not good enough City Cabs , will choose another company in future.

Very impressed with this company & drivers. I have poor mobility & explained this to the dispatchers & they were very helpful. Vehicles came that had manageable steps up or ramps. We weren't disappointed with the service or the rates

Booked the cab for my flight as it was in the morning. Made a booking in advance in case i don't get it on the day. Estimated arrival saying 11 mins later than booking time. Only thing i hear from them, there was no cab available when I can most certainly see the empty cab on the street. No bloody shite company. Not even sure i can ever trust this company for something important.

I have booked a taxi to take someone to the train station and the driver never showed up. Now the job appears as cancelled but neither I nor the other person reveid a call. Now she is likely to miss her train because of that

Always late 20-30 min in busy times (when you need them to be on time the most).

Called to book a ride 2 hours prior to pickup. Taxi arrived on time and took us to the airport without a problem. Received a message from the company with driver info and tracking of the cab to our place too.

Absolutely awful.

I booked a cab and 10 mins after booked time I was still waiting. I called them and a very rude customer agent informed me the driver that the driver hadn't even completed the drop off before me yet.

They refused to give me an estimate on how much longer I would have to wait and seemed to think it was unreasonable for them to have planned for the car to be there exactly at the requested time. Not even the shadow on an apology.

I ended up having to make other arrangements and was late for my appointment.

Will not use again.

They let someone else get in my taxi, which I had already waited 20 minutes for. I gave them a name, so why did they not check that before they let them take my taxi?!

Advertises "40% discount for over 65s and NHS staff (valid I.d. required) but fails to mention on the website that you must say when booking. My Mum who's 72 (fits the criteria) got a taxi to the eye pavilion and when highlighted to the driver apparently he know nothing of this discount and charged full price. Phoned the office and was told that she should have said when booking that she fits the criteria for the discount. Why doesn't it state that on the website???????? If offering discount make sure that all drivers are aware and make it clear on the website. Not good City Cabs

On two occasions recently the company has not performed. One one occasion I booked the cab to the airport the night before for a specific time. It did not turn up and I was told by the dispatcher that these bookings are only made on the morning of the person's departure so you have not in fact booked a cab. Then whether you get a cab depends on availability. I ended up getting a Central cab - which came pretty quickly. The second occasion two weeks ago on a Friday am the dispatcher didn't tell me that there were no cabs in my area - although I said I would like a cab soon

Brilliant service, arrived on time for both journeys, both drivers were pleasant and polite. Today I used the NHS free offer and found it extremely helpful as it cut my usual working day by 2hrs. As a nurse I work 12 hour shifts so any time saved in my day is very much appreciated.

False advertising, ordered cab hour in advance to get the train station because we were going to the airport, then they didn't let us know it wasn't coming till we were outside waiting for it and we had to ring up to ask where it was, this led us to miss our train we had planned to catch, very disappointed

Used to be fantastic. Have really went downhill recently. I travel by cabs about half a dozen times per week and I generally have two experiences: 1) I get told they're very busy and the won't be able to arrive at the time I ask for (and then turn up late anyway) or 2) I try to get a cab at the airport and there's a 30 minute wait. Really disappointing - no wonder people are turning to Uber.

Terrible service would never want anyone to use this company. The driver was informed that my train was arriving 3 minutes late he said this was fine but then still found it acceptable to send me a text saying "find another taxi 1 minute later.

Amazing service. Last night a driver called Stewart was the nicest driver I have had since moving to Edinburgh 3 years ago

4 times now I've booked them and they've been late or so late I've had to hail a cab on the street. Today driver was 40 mins after booking time despite us booking 2 hrs ahead.

Do not use this company, we had a terrible experience. We booked a taxi 2 weeks ago to pick us up from our hotel and drop us off in plenty of time for a time-sensitive event. When the taxi was late, we called and waited on hold for 14 minutes. When we finally got through a booking agent told us she was 'very sorry, it's busy and there aren't any taxis in the area', she could not tell us when our taxi might arrive or if, indeed, it ever would! I protested that as this was booked weeks ago, there is no excuse for not having a drive available. I handed her to my partner who had booked the taxi - at that point the agent took the cowardly chance to hand up the phone and leave us completely stranded!!
We set off on the 45 minute walk hoping to flag down a black cab en route, checked the app after 10 mins. It seems our taxi finally showed up AND PICKED SOMEONE ELSE UP! No phone call to the customers that should have been in the taxi at all. Appalling service. Do not use if you want to be sure of getting somewhere on a Saturday!

Fantastic news , looney cab driver brian allen has had his license suspended, following his dangerous driving and attempted assault of an innocent person. Note : 69 yrs of age , anger problem , dangerous driver and still city cabs wouldn't let him go. Good work by the city council.

Have come through so many times when we've needed to cart musicians and their equipment around at specific times. Even on NYE at nearly 3am they were there prior to the scheduled time. Amazing.

Just wanted to say that I came off my long flight yesterday at edinburgh airport and the nicest smiling face of this taxi driver helped me in with all my bags !!! Such a delight to be felt so at ease and felt that nothing was a problem with her. I didn't get her name but she had long black hair tied back in a ponytail, looking very smart x she drove me to Waverley.!! Would like to recommend this company to any other people who are needing a taxi from this company as the service and friendliness and politeness was second to none and it really made my long haul journey seem not so bad!! Lovely lady taxi driver, great journey, great company!!

I missed a work meeting because when I called to book, instead of them saying sorry we are fully busy, they said a cab was on the way, waited 20 mins then I called back only for them to say sorry they can t provide a taxi but they can make my call urgent, at that point it s too late. Had they said from the start that they re busy I would have had time to arrange for other means. I m so frustrated. I ve always used your service.

Me and my girlsfriend were stuck in town after a night out and they had absolutely nothing to offer us... Being told to call back in 20 mins does not solve a problem on a winters night and my girlfriend was freezing! I think if you're going to make a fuss about taxi companies like uber starting up then you have to provide a service which meets demand which this definitely does not in peak time!

Don't normally leave reviews but felt it was deserved after this morning. Just wanted to say a huge thank you to the whole team especially the taxi driver who was the saviour for my friend and I after we overslept for our flight by 2 hours and had under half an hour to check in at Edinburgh airport. - There was a good half hour where we didn't think there was any possibility of making our flight and if it hadn't been for these guys pulling out all the stops we wouldn't have! Didn't catch the drivers name but it was around 6.10am to the airport so I hope he sees this, as he genuinely saved our trip away :). Thank you from 2 extremely harassed, dishevelled yet extremely thankful girls

Had to use taxi for an emergency this morning. Great service on the phone and taxi driver arrived super quick and was really helpful. Very warm and friendly driver would highly recommend.

Happy to continue to employ thug drivers who assault cyclists. I'll be giving all my business to Central Cabs instead.
This is after years of happily using City Cabs and regularly using their android app for booking cabs.

Been using these guys for last few months since downloading their free fab app. Makes booking a taxi simple, can request a 6-seater (never been a problem) and track where your taxi is. Always turned up on time. Just a very good service. Cabbies have always been polite and chatty. There was no problem the time I had to get a muddy bike in the back of the cab (though best to ask for a 6-seater if you are doing this)

Useless. Twice we booked and twice the cab was late. The last time the cab was 10 mins late i had to phone them and no apologies whatsoever. The operator just said the taxi will be there shortly. Unbelievable!

Terrible company - I ordered a taxi to get us to St. Giles cathedral in time for a ghost tour and they never showed up - when I called to ask where the taxi driver was I was told he had already picked us up!!!!! We missed our ghost tour thanks to this company - they even had the effrontery to lie to us about where the driver was. Unacceptable. Use at your own risk!

This was my 3rd time taking Edinburgh city cabs. Once again I was met with an outstanding service. Always on time and even a bit earlier. Props to Robert today as he was really kind striked up a nice conversation and took the most efficient route possible. I'll definetely be using Edinburgh City Cabs Again. 5 starts for sure

Terrible customer relations via the phone. No help at all in trying to find lost property which was definitely left in their cab. Drivers also not the most friendly either and take you longer routes than necessary. Do not use! Useless.

Asked me if it was OK to send me a minicab! Maybe other people are different, but it seemed obvious to me that if I'd called a black cab firm, I would want to travel by taxi and not by minicab / uber or whatever. I would be so angry if I was one of their drivers; I don't think they will survive if they go that route. Have taken my custom to Edinburgh's other black cab firm for the time being.

Really excellent, and polite, service with this company. I never think about using any other company. City Cabs also supports local charities so win, win.

Arrived on time and got me to my destination on time despite horrific traffic. Driver had excellent local knowledge and was able to make use of bus lanes. I would use this locally owned members co-operative every time, not some faceless global multinational company.

On Saturday the taxi I had booked the night before turned up half an hour late causing me to miss my plane. I was told by the operators that this was because there were not enough drivers available. I've submitted a complaint on the website but there has been no reply from City Cabs. This is the second time in a row they have turned up very late for a pre-booked slot for me and the attitude from the drivers and operators is to pass the buck rather than take responsibility. My experience is a culture of treating customers bookings in a really casual way - not even a call to warn customers that they won't be there on time and the customer being blamed for not taking their potential lateness into account! Seems like a bizarre way to operate given that there is now even more competition in the taxi market.

I would like to add also that on the first occasion the taxi was late I was with a friend who is in a wheel chair. Although they helped her get into the taxi, the drivers on the way and back both made us feel as if we were a real inconvenience. When one of them saw her he said 'I wasn't told it was a wheel-chair' in an annoyed voice. The other one kept saying that he didn't know how to use the ramp for that taxi and made us feel as if getting her in was a big hassle. I could see why she's really reluctant to use taxis to get around.

Will not use any other company than City very professional felt safe at all times quality of cabs price was perfect and drivers friendly and informative keep up the good work and thank you

Booked a cab when I visited Edinburgh and I was really disappointed. First off, the person I spoke with on the phone does not display even slight care about the information I was giving and the driver was even worse. I got late to my appointment and it seems like they don't really care.
