My wife and I have lost our son in December of 2016 and we patiently waited for the autopsy report and it took 3 months and it's very frustrating for my wife and I because we were grieving and we just wanted to know what took our child and I felt like they really took no responsibility for their carelessness of the parents. I understand that you're going with your medicine but what about the parents afterwards who lose their baby? Pathology Department should be more considerate to the parents who wait the results of their deceased children.

You might have to wait a long time to get into a room at the ER there, but their care is totally worth it. My daughter had to had her blood drawn and she was scared out of her wits, and they did it so quickly and nicely, that it barely hurt. The doctors there are better than my pediatrician himself, they provide exceptional care and conclusions. #Children'sHospitalLARocks

Daughter needed medical services not available in the Antelope Valley so we drive to LA. Hospital exceeded my expectations. Friendly and compassionate staff. If your children need services and you don't mind the drive go to Children's Hospital of LA. Excellent service.

Have been here many times with someone who has revecieved excellent care every single time he comes in. Occasionally there's confusion because of nurses with language barriers but answers always arrive at the perfect moment and the waits are well worth the care.

My son was a patient of the hospital and its physicians for 16 years. I hear your complaints about billing and scheduling all of which are accurate, both need a lot of work.

But if your child needs care, you will have to suffer through those two departments and encourage them to work on getting better, since as one who got second opinions all the time, CHLA was God sent. There is not another group of physicians in all of Southern California from San Francisco to San Diego who are better diagnosticians and treaters. CHLA is cutting edge and often sets the standard of care for treating kids. If you are like me, you want the best for your child and that is at CHLA.

I sure wish I could give ZERO stars. In theory, this place is great. Caters to kids--and their parents. We brought my 5 year old into the emergency room for stomach pain. Right sided, peri-umbilical stabbing pain...for one month. We'd been dealing with Kaiser. We'd been to GI doctors, but we were waiting for CTs and MRIs. When she'd gotten up that morning her pain was much worse than it had been. She was throwing up. She didn't want to move. Same pain and symptoms she's been having, but worse. We had thought appendicitis from day one, but blood work, ultrasound and X-ray showed otherwise.
We got to a bed quickly where she was able to pick a cartoon to watch on our own tv. The nurse was very nice and comforting. After a very quick examination by the doctor (Dr. T something---Troy, Tran?)...he proclaims she's constipated and recommends doing home enemas. We once again go over our concern about appendicitis. Her dad had the same symptoms that didn't show through blood work, as did my dad and other family. He listens...but, doesn't care. States it's constipation. Do an enema. Says we can schedule an appointment with CHLA GI department to discuss "chronic constipation." They have an opening in a month. We insist she isn't constipated. She's had diarrhea. A lot. The doctor doesn't care.
To shorten an already long story....she continued to get worse, we went back to Kaiser. They finally did a CT and she had APPENDICITIS!!! She could have died. An enema was the last thing she needed.

HOPE YOU HAVE BETTER LUCK, but we sure won't be going back.

I love this place so much! I met many different doctors and nurses! I was here for a month due to a stroke I had. Being here for that period of time made me realize that I want to become a registered nurse. This place rocks!!!

Worst Emergency room ever. My daughter suffered from pain for almost 5 hour not even a nurse approached us. There is no meaning of emergency in this place.
Staffs are so mean, not responding to any concerns.

There are many positives and negatives to being at such a large hospital. I am very thankful for everything they have done, yet I am slightly disappointed in the communication between staff/teams.

Best Pediatric Hospital west of the Mississippi ! Extremely knowledgable Doctors, who are kind, caring, intelligent, and current in their area of expertise and outside of their chosen speciality. The Drs and Nurses, go out of their way to HELP their patients and families. Some specialties also take care of adults with Pediatric diseases. This is something that should be done for all pts., with pediatric diseases at every pedi hospital. Can always reach a dr, no matter what time or day! It also ranks as a top hospital in the USA in pediatrics from numerous review sources, such as US News and World Report.

I love the doctors and nurses here and praise them for they love and passion for children in need . I can not say the same for the staff in the orthopedic dept where you check in. They seems not to fond with dealing with people and acting in a professional manner. I've felt discriminated and ignored when I'm dealing with them. They act as though they're more important than the people they help. I would definitely go somewhere else but my grandson has been treated very well by the doctors and nurses and has grown very fond of them.

My daughter had heart surgery here, I am extremely happy with the results. The staff was very kind and the facilities were amazing. The cafeteria is decent and had plenty of room. There is a coffee shop which serves Starbucks coffee. There are ATMs located on the ground floor. The area is very clean and there is plenty of parking.

I would give them 4.5 stars if I could. I love this hospital, but the only reason I would give them half a star less is because they charge for parking.

I almost never have cash so it's a struggle for me to pass to an ATM every time I come and get cash. Then my husband rushes me because he feels like we are parked in a meter. He tells me that every minute counts.

I love this hospital from inside-out. They have two Starbucks inside this hospital. One is right in the front were you have to register yourself. The other one is open 24 hours near the cafeteria.

When you sign-in they ask you were are you going and if you know how to get there. If you don't know how to get there they send someone to escort you to your location. They are super friendly and talkative.

They send me here because they need to be checking my son's eyes because of his extreme prematurity. When I arrive to the vision center the receptionist is really nice. You check in with her than you take a seat.

The wait isn't long at all. If you come late they reschedule you so I think that helps. They send me back once because I was late I understood there was a lot of people waiting. Also, I think they were a bit behind that day.

Dr. Lee is a great doctor. He also explains everything so you are able to understand. His assistant is very sweet and translate for him in Spanish.

He usually does a quick check and were done. He explains how his eyes are and how his eyes are doing so far.

I recommend this hospital for everyone that had kids. It is so pretty and they have areas for the kids to play almost everywhere. The doctors and staff are great too! Don't forget to stop buy Starbucks to spoil yourself too.

Billing here is a complete mess. My daughter went...

Billing here is a complete mess. My daughter went to the emergency room and a year and a half later I'm still getting small fees from the various doctors that went in and out. I've called a handful of times to clear my bill and I guess that only covers what hasn't been billed yet. A year and a half seems very excessive to bill someone you saw.

We also had therapy there, which was crazy expensive for the experience. Therapists would show up a few minutes late and end a few minutes early so we'd only get 20 minutes of a 30 minute session and still get charged a few hundred dollars for it. One time the therapist came and walked us down the playground and by the time we got there, and went over a couple toys, it was time to walk back to the therapy wing across the hospital. I could have just met them at the playground with my child. Most of it was covered by insurance, but I was still mad they were billing that much. She was getting charged $11 per tylenol she took.

I also had conflicts with the nurses disagreeing with the doctors. My daughter was in stable condition at the intensive care unit and nurses kept coming several times a night to take her vitals even though the doctors said it wasn't necessary. I just wanted her to get some much needed sleep. The nurses said they had to do it regardless of what the doctors said.

The doctors and nurses themselves were good, but they didn't work together and at times seemed at odds. One doctor asked me what my daughter was taking and I was like, "Uh, look at her chart." and he had to ask where the nurses kept it. All the nurses were really nice and diligent.

I feel like some doctors were just milking the insurance, too. Some would come in to say hi and that they hadn't received any of the test results back yet and leave in under two minutes and I would get a bill for the unscheduled visit. This was not the main doctor. Doctors from every department would come in, check her pulse, ask how she's doing, make pleasantries, and leave giving me each a bill. Does every department need to take her pulse? I think that's just how they justify billing it as a medical visit.

Horrible rude and abusive social workers. I was instructed to call about Medical options when I first moved here. When I did, the social worker who told me to call her verbally abused me and told me not to tho k o deserve anything. My so. Is severely disabled and now receives medical, ssi, and IHSS. Horrible rude and under qualified.

We had a few visits with my son who has been vomiting several times/day for months, but they kept asking the same questions repeatedly (during the same appointment) and then they said 'go do some bloodwork and come back in a month.' After doing this 3x we decided to bail and go someplace else, and now we're waiting WEEKS to get records. Completely underwhelmed.

I went to the Children's Hospital Los Angels with my young daughter. The nurses were great! The issue came about when the doctor came in and I refused to give my daughter a hard drug (fentanyl - she's 12 months old). I further experienced issues from the doctor when she was trying to "sell" me on new innovative treatments and told me that the regular treatments won't do.
She was obviously looking for money that she would get from commission payments as she changed her recommendation 3 times and the report I received afterwards was the complete opposite of what she had told me needed to be done, and opposite of the degree of severity she verbally told me that my daughters injury was.
She then covertly called social services on me for "neglect" and for refusing to give her a tetanus shot (which is not true. I asked her what she thought about me giving the tetanus shot at this point and she said the tetanus shot really wouldn't do anything at this stage and that if i wanted to protect my daughter I needed to get a "tetanus immunoglobin " incision for my daughter (which is a specialized treatment that my daughter would have to receive at a specialized clinic and that my personal doctor cannot administer)).
Overall it was a horrible experience. She tried to back me into a corner to get her commission payments instead of actually giving me honest, sound advice. My daughter is now back in the medical care system in my home country getting sound and sane medical care that is not nearly the extent of what I was told needed to be done.
Beware of losing your rights as a parent if you go to this hospital. I will never go back and needed to share this story so that people are warned in advance and can seek treatment elsewhere.

I have only vivid memories, as a child born with a heart problem, and wasn't discovered until i was at the age of 2 yrs. old. At the time i was living on Guam. It was a very miraculous opportunity to have a second chance at life because of the Children's Hospital Los Angeles. Its been 24 yrs. since my surgery, i am healthy and was able to have a child. Big Thanks to the doctor who fixed me up. i hope one day we will meet so i can thank you for saving me to continue my life.

I have been to several hospitals over the years. This was my first visit to children's. I found Dr. Upperman that transferred my daughter here to have a procedure, incompetent. All drs that discharge you from one hospital is supposed to follow you to the other hospital. This one didn't even call to inform the on call dr that we were coming (which he never said he wasn't the dr on call). No one had a clue what was going on. They wanted to start from scratch again. And Dr. Upperman was not reachable. If i didn't yell and scream my daughter's complex procedure would have turned into a surgery. When my daughter spiked a fever the nurses called the dr..Did you talk to the team of drs? Well neither dis the nurses. They stood in the room in the am and tried to figure out what happened and why no one got a call. Lack of communication and why do i feel safe at childrens? If you have a small child and have to stay with your child, be prepared. You have to order food from a menu for your child, and make sure you order on time or they close and your kid is hungry. The people are impersonal. They have no common sense. Nurses relentless taking the blood pressure of a little kid. While screaming and yelling... really? If your a single parent definently forget about this place. No resources, no compassion, no empathy. You are on your on and if you have to stay there for a long time....well..........sorry. I'll go back to the crappy hospital with the nurses who care....

Children hospital is the premeir Pediatric hospital in southern California. The have specialist in pretty much every field. We are fortunate to live near this facility and are able to take advantage of their services. The staff are always very friendly and professional. The hospital have many family activity on site, books and games to help kids pass the time while waiting. Highly recommend.

People who are complaining about this hospital have no idea what they are talking about. My son has been a patient at Children's since he was 4 months old. He has 5 specialist and every single specialist treats my child great. All nurses are also incredible. The ER is also awesome and they figured out exactly what was wrong with my AJ.

I have more than 6 years attending to this hospital. I had a surgery in here, and the nurses took great care of me specially after I woke up from the anestesia. The doctors are no longer doctors in my opinion, they are friends. I really like this hospital and , to be honest, I don't want to go to other hospital. The hospital does not look scary like adult hospitals I have went to.

I am thoroughly disgusted by the lack of empathy and concern for patient well being exhibited by an optometrist here. A patient (Ryder and his mother Ashley Montano) had been waiting for an appointment for 9 months and were refused to be seen by the doctor after they arrived late to their appointment. Ryder has Williams syndrome and I wonder if a non-disabled patient who was not participating in a program offered through the school district and was privately insured would be treated this way? Not to mention he was ill at the time and the family had to travel to get to the hospital. Unforeseeable traffic issues caused them to be late. After having waited for care for NINE MONTHS, they are told to wait another 9 months to be seen? Disgusting and highly abusive behavior. The disregard for children at a children's hospital by the doctors is beyond comprehension. When it's not a potential poster child / image opportunity its clear the level and respect and duty to patients decreases significantly. Will never use the services of the hospital for my children.

They have never let us down. Thank you CHLA for giving us some piece of mind during a critical time. You are simply the BEST!

The surgery appointment time for my child was switched last minute without getting a hold of us. Arrived on the scheduled time only to find out the appointment time would be many hours later. It already sounds horrible for adult and imagine that for a 7 months old baby.
