We bidded $40 for this hotel for on Priceline.

The room we were assigned to was MASSIVE. I mean, it was like 700 sq ft big! It was a bit odd because were was a lot of empty space. The giant walk in closet was so big that could have fit another washroom if they wanted to.

Our room was quiet and somewhat clean - the beds were clean but we weren't sure about the stained carpets. Parts of the hotels/rooms were new (ie: beds, tvs, bathrooms) but rest of the hotel doesn't seem to fit in with the renovations as they were not renovated (ie: sofa's, elevators, business centers, air conditioner units, light switches in the room, hallways).

The hotel comes with 2 free guest parking lot. The one we used were well lit and was in the middle of the hotel which can only be assessed by swiping a key card which we valued.

Chicago South Loop Hotel Review

Chicago South Loop Hotel Review

I recently stayed at Chicago South Loop, so I could have an affordable option for attending the Toastmasters International Conference. My room was spacious, had a good amount of seating for two people, came equipped with Direct TV, and was very comfortable. The staff was very responsive as on multiple occasions I requested extra pillows, sheets, and information about local restaurants and grocery stores. The hotel was walking distance from Chinatown and only a 5 minutes ride from McCormick Place. My room came with a mini-refrigerator that I was able to load with my own groceries instead of being forced to purchase hotel priced products like other establishments. There was also an affordable restaurant on the first floor that provided breakfast and lunch options. South Loop also provided free Wi-Fi and free parking which were the key reasons I chose to stay there. My one issue with the room was that the AC pointed towards the bed, and the direction of the air could not be adjusted, so all the cold or warm air came right at you which I found annoying. Overall I enjoyed my stay at South Loop and would do stay there again if I had the option.

Very nice place to stay close to downtown we took lyft could have rode the bus. The room was very clean everything available except microwave. Nice small cafe for breakfast and lunch meals as the hotel restaurant was closed for remodeling. I will stay here again on my next visit to the city the staff was excellent.

Visit this place during my interview at DOWNTOWN Chicago. Have free parking. Big hotel. Reception people are not Friendly and don't know how to treat customers. you can't find Plastic spoons to eat something you bought outside. what a INSANE???? need to improve the ELEVATOR which is giving bad smell. you need to improve your service

Let me start by saying that I would stay here again, no question. Great parking, friendly and helpful staff, clean, comfortable rooms. There is a salon which turned out to be convenient and restaurant serving lunch and dinner that was more than adequate, but small. I hesitate to give it 5 stars because it is advertised as a boutique hotel. If you have stayed in many boutique hotels, you will likely be disappointed. That said-great location, good value and a hotel I will return to if I find myself in Chicago again.

Some staff were more friendly than the other. Bed is too short for an average type person. Morover, no benches to sit outside. Elevator was too slow sometimes never arrived and smell of asphalt throughout the hotel (notice in elevator of roof paving).

Great location! This hotel is super close to tons of shops and restaurants. The rooms are very spacious and clean and the staff was friendly and helpful. There is a little cafe in the lobby with lots of breakfast/brunch options. It was also nice to have on site parking in a secured lot. Would definitely stay here again next time I m in Chicago!

"Low rent" hotel. Dirty and not in a great area. We stayed here for a conference and it was a convenient Uber drive into downtown. Needs to be updated. One elevator took forever! Little cafe on main level offers breakfast (at cost) in the morning.

This hotel was a perfect spot to stay in while visiting Chicago. It is downtown but just slightly out of the most condensed area so I didn t have a issue with noise at any time of the day. The staff was accommodating and kind and I love the vintage ascetic of the hotel. My room was large, comfortable and very clean. Bonus was the hot tub size bath tub that I soaked in before bed. I never see that in hotels! Near by lots of good food! I ll be back.

I'm really shocked at how good the reviews are on here.
Pros: Free parking
Cons: Room not particularly clean, light not working in bathroom, literal bullet hole in window (which had a gap that we stuffed a hand towel in to not hear the howling wind). Would not recommend if you're looking for something comparable to a Hampton Inn, etc.

That place is HUGH and connected to the surrounding hotels. Lots of people. Alot of parking space. Parking is expensive though. Its only worth it if you'll be there at least 4 or more hours. I was there for 8 or 9.

Very convenient location for sightseeing
According to the locals, the security is not good.
A district with many black people.
The rooms are large for the price.

My husband and I have used the Chicago South Loop just two times, both for special occasions and both times were fantastic! The rooms were spacious and clean and warm (since both times were during the winter months)...oh so warm. The bathroom was large and clean and fully stocked; it was a great experience. The staff was helpful, friendly, and very accommodating. We couldn't have asked for a better time. We know now that every time we are in need of a hotel near - but too close - to downtown Chicago, we will use The Chicago South Loop Hotel.

The room is very nice and spacious. The attendants are gracious. The Hotel is not located in a very nice neighborhood. It is not safe to walk the night around the hotel. There is no breakfast.

It was really nice and clean staff was nice but our door wouldn't shut all the way on it's own which was an issue on a couple days. The best part of our stay was the free parking because Chicago is very expensive when it comes to parking

Our stay could have been way worse, but it was really bad for $160 a night. I've stayed in many hotels for liesure and business, ranging from $50 a night to $250+ a night. This was by far my worst experience. This hotel had literally no amenities. No pool, no functional restaurants or bars, the gift shop was always closed so we couldn't buy drinks or snacks, and the parking....oh man the parking. I do know that this was a busy weekend with C2E2 in town, but having to park blocks from the hotel in a terrible part of Chicago, and feeling stuck in the hotel because we afraid to lose our parking space was horrible.

There are three lots attached or in proximity to this hotel. One is a gated, 10 space lot that is never not full and the gate opens so slowly it's clearly been hit by many cars. The other lot is a standard surface lot that is not secure, but there was definitely not enough parking for the guests in the hotel. The thrid lot I don't think is a sanctioned hotel lot, but there were many cars parked there. It was gravel and grass - quite the off-loading experience covered in lots and lots of broken bottles and trash. This lot is not attached to the hotel in anyway, and it has a fence around it. So to get to the hotel you have to walk around the whole block. The parking issues alone were not worth the money.

The staff was generally rude and condescending. The bed was hard as a rock and I woke up with severe back pain from it. I'm also very allergic to dustmites and the room was covered in dust and the linens smelled like dust. Even with my allergy medicine I woke up congested and with swollen eyes, not a pleasant feeling at all. When we asked for a single extra pillow, we were told because of 100% capacity, there were no extras. How do you run a hotel and not plan for 100% capacity and people wanting an extra pillow?

Our room wasn't cleaned during the day, so we had full trashcans and no towels. Called for extra towels and it took 45 minutes to get them. There was only ONE luggage cart for a hotel that's at 100% capacity, and the elevators were slower than any I've ever been in. The hotel policy states check out is at 11am, but they turned our keycard off at exactly 10am leaving us locked out of our room as we're were trying to pack up our car. Leaving the hotel and checking out took 90 minutes longer than it should have.

The room itself was small, and there was nothing but a mirror on the walls leaving us to think that the overall experience and comfort of guests is just an afterthought to this plac. I will never stay here again. $160 a night is way too much to spend to have to deal with all of this. Next time, my husband and I will spend the extra $40 a night and stay at the Marriott or Hyatt. This was so not worth the money.

The Chicago South Loop Hotel is a very neat place to stay! We stayed there for two nights and I didn t want to leave without the pillows! The pillows were the best I have maybe ever slept on. I even asked the front desk if they would sell one to me. The lobby was super cool. There were two entrances across from each other that led to a parking lot and for the load in and drop off. The room was HUGE with a very nice chair at the end of my bed. The proximity to the city was fantastic. I took a Lyft to Ulta Beauty and was there in 10 mins. They have a very cute Coffee Cafe where they make superfood breakfast to order and have good coffee. The also have a salon. I didn t use it but was happy there was one. The shower was perfect and the bathtub was massive! Thank you Chicago South Loop Hotel! I will stay in you again! #chicagosouthloophotel #badcopbadcop #ignitehospitality #staceysrad

Clean room and comfy bed and great pillows, the AC works well and hot water is available. Nothing special to bring it up to 5 stars, tv was awkwardly placed in my room far from the bed but the room is very large for my expectations on the plus side.

Stayed for one night in July. Friendly desk staff. The room we booked had a huge comfy bed, a nice separate area with a couch and table, a mini fridge for storing leftovers and drinks. There's a little restaurant downstairs and a nice hotel bar. A great option for those wanting to leave the bustling Central core for their stay.

Wonderful hotel, I thought its a normal 100$ hotel but way better than other hotels in that range. And great staff who provides information of public transportation and anything we ask for. Will surely be my go to hotel in future.

Rating is actually 2.5.

Rating is actually 2.5.

An ok hotel if you want/need a place to stay and for $169/night for a single king-size bed, it was a good price at the time of this review. For the price, the hotel is decent - not horrible, but my experience was a little below the standards you would receive at the chain hotels (Holiday Inn, etc).
The 2.5 stars also accounts for the fact that the Chicago South Loop Hotel classifies itself as a 'boutique hotel' - which gave me a different mental picture than what the hotel actually is.

Not much to do around the hotel, and the surrounding area is so-so. Ok to walk around during the day but I would probably not want to walk around the surrounding hotel area at night.

It is a decent proximity to McCormick Place - so if you are attending a conference there and you are just looking for a place to stay at night, this may be a lower-price hotel option.

Hotel room is 3.5 stars - nice/decent room.
Highlights: Open room with good/adequate space. Bed was comfortable, as were the pillows. Bathtub was really nice - deep tub (no jets). Shower flow was also nice - good flow/pressure. Business desk in the room was nice and adequate. Small fridge in the room comes in handy. Closet space was adequate, as was the drawer space.

Low Points:
Both windows in the room did not close completely and the 'Chicago wind' passing by made an annoying train whistle noise. Tried to push the windows down more but they would not go down any further and kept "popping up". Neither window locked either. TV was way too small (maybe 32")? Coffee maker was a miniature and only made 8oz of hot water at a time - which is maybe fine for some but a con for me - especially in a hotel that classifies itself as a "boutique hotel". There was packaging plastic still partially left on one of the decorative mirrors and looked to have been like that for quite some time.

As for the rest of the hotel. There is a business center that was nice. The fitness center was adequate (barely). 4 machines and free-weights that went up to 45#. No pool (low-point).

There is also a place in the hotel that does breakfast/lunch - cafe-style, but if you plan on eating there during the rush-hour of breakfast or lunch, you may want to carry-out as there are only enough seats for about 10 comfortably, 15 max. The breakfast there was good.

(Additional Low-Points).
Room service did not come until almost 5pm. Had to call to make sure they were coming. After "cleaning" the room the ironing board was left out and the carpet was not vacuumed. The room also did not appear to be cleaned, just new towels, made the bed and folded the first toilet paper square. Dust was still seen and mirror still had a smudge on it.
Asked the hotel for a late checkout and they said NO...(?). Checkout is 11am and at 10:50am a maid knocked on the door and said I had to leave now...

Would I stay here again.....
If the price was right (under $170/night) and I just needed a place to sleep and I didnt want to go out to eat, or sight-see, or shop... I would.
If however I found another 3 star rated hotel that was comparable price, I would probably try that other hotel out.

Wow! The Chicago South Loop was an incredible hotel! The first thing I noticed was the gated parking and the beautiful lobby and it only got better from there! The rooms were spacious and the bed was incredibly comfortable! The internet was super fast and made work on the road a breeze. I especially liked their business center with coffee ready to go. The room and the whole hotel was immaculate. If you re staying in that area I would highly recommend staying at the Chicago South Loop.

My son and I recently spent a night at Chicago South Loop Hotel before he had a conference to attend. We chose the South Loop because of its proximity to Guaranteed Rate Field. The hotel also offered free parking in a secured lot, which in Chicago is a rarity. The room and hotel looked to have been recently remodeled. The room was large and ample space for moving about even with two queen beds. Everything was very clean. The bathroom had an excellent shower and a large soaking tub, which really would be more my wife's liking. For a 3-star hotel, it had nice ample bath towels, but the room coffee maker was not a Keurig. The hotel is just off I90/I94 and easily accessed, although my GPS sent us via I290 to Michigan, then down to East 26th Street, so we had to drive through the heart of Chicago Loop, which was no fun. We considered the room rate to be very reasonable at $169, but there are a few drawbacks. The hotel was not located near (1-2 blocks) any dining or bars. The nearest restaurants was up in Chinatown, about 10 blocks away. The hotel had no restaurant, just a coffee shop for breakfast and lunch. There was a hotel bar, where we watched the Warriors beat Cleveland, but again no food or even snacks. After the ballpark beer prices, the hotel bar seem quite cheap. In summary if you want a hotel on the South side, this one is very nice. But be prepared to either drive or taxi back up to the Loop for entertainment and dining.

This hotel was very clean and pretty well maintained. I used to work at a hotel so those are always my number 1 necessities. My friends and I got a room with 2 queen beds and a sofa. The sofa was not a pullout bed (it hadn't been advertised as such, we'd just assumed) but I slept on the sofa and it was actually very comfy and I slept great. Awesome water pressure in the shower. Unfortunately our shampoo dispenser was completely empty and we only had 3 towels. But a quick call to the front desk made up for those things.

Only thing that irritated me about the room was the crappy lighting. The whole room had 3 lamps and that was it.

Parking was easy and felt secure. Taxis/Uber/Lyft were all easy to use from here.

The neighborhood is right on the edge of a bad area so I wouldn't go walking at night.

Place was nice in the lobby . But anything else was terrible. Stunk terribly in the hallways and pretty much everyone in the hotel was loud . Couldn't get any sleep the power went out and the water taking a shower was cold .

It had been a number of years and I was happy to be back in Chicago. Expectations were high and they were met and exceeded by the Chicago South Loop Hotel. The location was ideal. Me and some friends were checking out a Bulls' game that night and it just a few miles from the United Center.

The lobby was beautiful. Incredibly spacious with a thoughtful design. The paintings on the walls were a perfect fit to the jazz playing in the lobby. The staff the entire time we were there were kind and helpful. The hotel offers an extensive workout room. Also located on the first floor, don't miss out on their cafe. It almost seems a bit hidden at the hotel that offers so much, but it is worth finding. The coffee was great and they offer some pretty fantastic breakfast options.

The rooms themselves are ideal. Plenty of space for me, my things with an office space to get work done. I never seem to spend as much time in Chicago as I would like, but the Chicago South Loop Hotel will make me miss this city even more. Until next time, Chicago.

Quite isolated. Public transport wasnt easy. The hotel didn't really have the bus time table and the buses felt sporadic at best. Trains were over a kilometre away. No shops close by and the hotel doesn't serve food. The bar connected to the hotel was good is you like loud sports tv.

Beautiful old hotel. The room was very spacious, as was the bathroom. It was clean and comfortable. I loved that I didn't have to pay for parking. The parking area wasn't secure though because the exit gate wouldn't close. We paid more than we would have liked but we were in town for a special occaision.

Really great hotel for the price. The hotel is in a very convenient area of town. It has multiple parking lots so parking is no problem, even for oversized vehicles. There were a lot of people in the lobby checking in when we arrived but the staff were very quick to get everyone settled. The rooms are very spacious, quiet and clean with super comfortable beds. Would definitely stay here again when coming to Chicago.

I can t say enough good things about our stay! They let us park early before check in, you know their free parking! The room was booked incorrectly by a third party site and they still got us in the right room. The room was clean and comfy with plenty of space. The location to public transit and their willingness to direct us was wonderful. Upon check out I was able to stay parked safely all day. I arrived back for my car earlier than I could leave and I sat and read in the lobby. So impressed from start to finish!

The price (on Hotwire) was fantastic - about $80/night, not including taxes. Also, can't beat the free parking in Chicago. The hotel itself is nice - modern lobby and the rooms are big and clean. Free internet was relatively fast.

Still, I won't stay at this hotel again - it's location isn't great. It's really far from any CTA train stop, though there is a #29 bus stop right at the corner. There is NOWHERE to eat or get coffee around the hotel, unless you eat in its own restaurant, which is good but very expensive for what you get.

The rooms on the east side are loud - across the street from a train line and seemed to draw obnoxious people on the street level making lots of noise outside at all hours of the night. The hotel also has some sort of a dance club, which BLASTED music until after 3am and was loud enough to shake parts of our room, directly above it. Ultimately, the hotel staff credited us with a free night, but did nothing about the ridiculous music - I'm sure we weren't the only people to complain.

Overall, you can do better in Chicago. Pay a bit more and stay inside the loop.

I stayed at the Chicago South Loop Hotel two weekends out of the last three and highly recommend this hotel. It is convenient to everything. The rooms are spacious and the soaking size tub is amazing. The staff are professional and very accommodating. I can't say enough about my stay here. I will make this my Chicago hotel.

I stayed at this hotel multiple times and lately I have had weird situations happening so this recent visit my check in was @ 3p.m. with a late checkout well we get to the room and the beds wasn't made but the room "looks" to be clean so I let the front desk know our beds wasn't made so they said when we return for the night we will have a new room so we get the new room and get some sleep to be woken up by housekeeping literally coming the room to clean @ 8:53 a.m. and the do not disturb sign was hanging on the door so I thinking we would have some peaceful sleep to get a knock at 11:00 from the head of housekeeping asking do we have a late checkout and my response it's in the system go check so that did it for me no more South Loop.........periodt .....short version

Pretty good stay. It's a 3 star hotel so there are some cosmetic and function flaws (dresser drawers and closet doors that don't slide open or closed smoothly and a room door on which the deadbolt requires a trick to work) but the staff was friendly and helpful. Bonnie (front desk) and Jesse (maintenance) were sweethearts, easily changing my room when I declined the one with the trick deadbolt. I loved the room they moved me to. Plenty of space.

The hotel is within walking distance of McCormick Place where the conference I was attending was being held. Even better it had free parking!

My one major complaint is that the cleaning staff isn't terribly thorough or especially good. Nothing was left dirty just less than neat. They left one of my pillows on the floor after my first night there. I didn't realize I'd knocked it off and apparently neither did they. And on another day they didn't replace the towels until evening when I was back in the room and the lady was knocking as she used her key to come in the room. Just really glad I was fully clothed.

I'd stay here again but it would be dependent on the price and how close it was to where I needed to be.

Well, I can say that here in the hotel parking for cars for free as everyone in the city in Chicago has a price for parking from $ 49-65 per night and this is a bit expensive. The hotel itself for 4 ku pulls, rooms are average, well, you can stay at the hotel.
