This zoo is my absolute favorite I ve ever been to. I ve always gone in the morning, which I highly recommend because the animals are the most active from what I have seen. The facilities are clean, the presentations are informative and fun. The entire zoo has amazing views, animals, and experiences. With the pandemic they have installed touch less hand washing stations and provide plenty of hand sanitizer as well.

My son goes to the Colorado deaf and blind school. This zoo actually brought me to tears they took a few bucks off the entry fee but no chaperone to describe the animals to these kids no discounts for feeding giraffes or the elephants ..imagine being blind and going to a zoo. A disservice to kids and society. Even when zoo staff saw kids wanting to touch giraffes they were all about $$ disgusting

Best Zoo I've ever visited in my 60+ years but you gotta be in good shape because it seems to be uphill going and coming! If you are able to do stairs, drive up to Will Rogers Shrine. The history there is fabulous and the view is breathtaking. But the open spiral staircase (about 5 stories) is NOT for small children unless you plan to carry them up & down. The Shrine is included in your Zoo entry fee. Dont miss this if you are able.

Too much walking, need little cars to get around. Wish that you could buy the Will Rogers tickets separate. ----After we left town (we are on our way to see Mount Rushmore) the Very Kind Owners of the Zoo wrote to me saying they offer all-day golf cart shuttle rides for just $2.00 per person. I wish the person selling tickets had offered this option to us. I didn't see anything about it on the booth. Knowing that they offer shuttle rides, I'm changing my stars from 2 to 4. I still think Will Rogers tickets s/b separate.

I've been going to the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo for as long as I can remember, since my first memories here I can say with utmost confidence that every experience has been amazing, and only improved in the time elapsed ( over 20 years ). These wonderful people and animals have been awarded many accolades over the years for their superb work and care - deserving many more as the tradition of excellence and compassion continues. Thank you so much, I hope that anyone seeing this takes the time to experience the absolute joy that is the CMZ.

My new favorite smaller zoo. The giraffe feeding doesn't require waiting in a line or signing up in advance & it gets you closer than anywhere I'd ever seen. All the exhibits seemed to put you in a position to really see the animals from closer up than most zoos. Here's a tip: we went in early January & the animals were really active & the crowds minimal. The 2 toed sloth actually crawls on a series of branches only a few feet over your head with no wall or glass to separate you which I thought was pretty cool. The area surrounding the zoo is a plus as it's in the foothills of the Rockys. So it's on a slope. It's also surrounded by & interspersed with pine trees. Great views and very pretty.

Although I ve been to this zoo many times now, today was exceptional. My son (age 4) and I are deaf, and one of the employees working at the Carousel noticed me signing to him. When we came to pay she started signing to us and proceeded to explain all the procedures before moving to explain out loud to everyone else. It was ver welcoming and an excellent experience for not only myself, but for my son who was able to obtain the full experience. It may be simple, but I m very grateful for the woman working at the carousel today.

I'm so happy my wife talked me into going. I figured a zoo is a zoo. Wow! Was I mistaken. The way the national landscape is used as a zoo setting is amazing. Your paid admission also includes a trip up the mountain to tour the "Will Rogers Shrine Of The Sun". This zoo is a must see in my opinion. The only complaint I have is... the layout. Seems there is a lot of backtracking....

This place is wonderful. Location is great, the exhibits are great, the staff are very knowledgeable and friendly, everything is fairly priced and the money goes exactly where they say it will go i.e.. conservation, renovation etc.... they directed parking which helped the process of finding a place to park, the place is quite easily accessible for wheelchairs as well as strollers. We spent over five hours there and saw about 89% of what they had to offer but the kids couldn't take it any longer. I could definitely see getting a membership and I'm looking forward to the Halloween events I heard about. Highly recommend.

Amazing zoo with spectacular views of the city. Since its built within the mountain, you get a good workout seeing each habitat as well. One of the best parts is feeding the giraffe's!

I loved the experience with the giraffes. I don't recall ever being so close to them. I liked the feeding experiences. At certain times they allow feeding of the animals, for a fee, but it goes to a good cause. The trained goats were very entertaining. It's amazing how they can turn the wheel to get the food cup. Such a fun day.

Great mountain zoo. They have a daily wolf feeding presentation. You can buy food to feed giraffes, elephants. rhinos and some of the other animals in their care. They have fun activities for the kids. A sky ride that gives you an awesome view of the zoo and surrounding area. It's a true mountain zoo so be prepared to walk up and down a lot. They do run a shuttle service. You may also pack in food and non alcoholic drinks to have a picnic or buy food there.

Great

First time here, my wife and I received a membership here for Christmas. The zoo is pretty cool. We started out near the giraffes and that was an experience in its self, I have been to several zoos and this is the first time you could walk right up to them at head level. You also could feed them I think for around $3.00 (don t quote me on that). As we headed over to the elephants, the view over the city was beautiful. We then continued on going through the zoo, and it was spectacular. The Australian exhibit was cool because there were wallaby s just grazing as you walked right next to them. The zoo is clean and well maintained, the staff seems nice as well. They have tram tours and a sky lift. They sky lift was cool, you could see all over the zoo and the view at the top was breath taking. I could keep going on but, I think you just have to go see it for yourself. Keep in mind the zoo is on the side of a mountain. Wear comfortable shoes, dress comfortably and bring plenty to drink.
Have Fun!

Picturesque location.. had an incredible experience feeding the giraffes..!! Visited the place during winter, but summer would have been even better experience while interacting with animals. Missed sky ride due to cold..so please plan the trip during summer

Lots of fun. My daughter and I had a great time. A wide variety of animals and opportunities to feed and touch some of the animals, not just look at them. The food inside the zoo was not only tasty but with the large portions, you definitely get your money's worth. I was a wonderful, beautiful day and with all that excitement and fun, at the end of the day my daughter was so worn-out that she fell asleep on the way home. I can't wait to go back

Cheyenne Mountain Zoo is a great place for a family outing. The zoo is known for their giraffe exhibit and you can get up-close and personal with them..

The parking lot gets full and lines form quickly on weekends, so get there early. Also there is a lot of up-hill walking (it's on the side of Cheyenne Mountain, hence the name) so older folks and out of shape people should take their time walking around.

If you have young children, take a time out to ride the carousel (if it's open) and grab some ice cream.

My husband and I stumbled upon this zoo by accident. We were following the gps for the Will Rogers Shrine of the Sun and it took us to the zoo entrance. We found out we had to buy tickets for the zoo in order to get to the shrine. So we figured why not do a quick walk through before we head up to the shrine. Little did we know we were going to fall in LOVE with it! The layout is so cool and it's on a mountain. You can pet and feed the giraffes ($3). That was my favorite part! The animals have plenty of space and room to move. By far the best zoo I've been to yet.

Another awesome experience with the family. The chef in the main food area is so professional and friendly, he deserves a raise! Love this zoo and will continue to come back time and time again!

The experience at this zoo is amazing. Knowing that your money goes to helping the environment and a better future, I would do it again. Yes it sucks to have wild animals caged, but this zoo has really gone its way to try to keep the animals in it s natural environment. And they are rescued and simply can t go back to the wild. Staff is also amazing, knowing there stuff and treating the animals with lots of care. the park is kept well clean. I would travel back again

One of the best zoos to go to. U can't beat the giraffe exhibit with its up close and personal interaction with them. Lots of other great animals to look at. The structure of the zoo is nice as well. It didn't seem too big, yet there were so many exhibits to look at.

It was a wonderful experience, a beautiful day and Tony who drove us up to the top and helped us with the wheelchaire was so friendly and helpful!
Jenny also helped us by pushing the chair up a steep incline. (She was walking by and saw we could use some help.) I can't wait to come back for another visit.!! ALL THE NEW AREAS ARE WONDERFUL! Hope you located the rhino !! Only downer, we both forgot our cameras.:(

The zoo itself is great. Mostly due to it being on the side of the beautiful Cheyenne mountain.
The prices are expensive, both for admission and for food / drinks.
Attempted to utilize a discount advertised on their website where it states clearly that if you purchase general admission tickets you can decide to convert your receipt towards the cost of a yearly membership.
I treated my family to the zoo to the tune of $139 and then the next week attempted to utilize the deal only to be confronted with bait & switch style marketing where fine print was king and customer service was long forgotten. After an hour lunch break wasted and more time via email communication I finally gave up and chalked it up to bad company policies. I choose to support companies with more business and can no longer continue supporting this zoo after the treatment I received.
Be warned, the discounts described may not be the discount you expect and it is basically just up to them on deciding.

It may not be the biggest zoo nor one with a huge selection, but it is well organized and creates a unique experience for kids and adults. And it teaches preservation. Not to be missed!
