Beautiful mountain zoo! Feed the giraffes and elephants.
Beautiful mountain zoo! Feed the giraffes and elephants.
Superior zoo! Walk through or take a ride to the top and meander down. Cafe is better than I expected, carousel for the kids, great giraffe exhibit. Some construction ongoing but relatively inconsequential.
It's a lot of hiking for not as many exhibits. And compared to the care of the animals are the Denver Zoo, Cheyenne Mountian Zoo doesn't really feel like their animals are well taken care of or have adequate enclosures to live in. <:(
Would have been nice after paying so much to get in, to see more of the animals, several areas had nothing in them,
Had a lot of fun seeing all the animals up close, absolutely wonderful experience. This is a must see.
Took the family to see the Christmas Lights and it was an amazing experience. The kids got to feed the giraffes and parakeets. The design of the zoo allows visitors a close up view of animals while still providing large natural habitats for the animals. It is obvious that the animals are well taken care of and not there strictly for the enjoyment of the public. I am looking forward to bringing my family back next time we are in Colorado.
Awesome animals, but the layout if confusing and not exactly fluid, I had to backtrack through old exhibits just to go to one's I hadn't seen yet. Besides that, the feeding of the giraffes is an awesome and unique feature and the feeding and display shows are a great positive. Park is stroller friendly which is a plus!
My wife and I visited in the heart of winter, when a zoo often has few animals outside, and in the thick of the Covid-19 pandemic, when many of the food an entertainment offerings were not available. Nonetheless, this is, aesthetically, the best zoo I have ever visited, and the exhibits were all good to great, the giraffe area being particularly good. The animals seemed very happy. Five stars!
Great place for any tourist or family! Feeding the giraffes was awesome!
Great place for all ages.Loved the Austrailian exibit
I've been a member for my entire time living in Colorado Springs. As a native Coloradan, I spent most of my life near Denver and their zoo. Cheyenne Mountain Zoo wins hands down.
Not only do they have a better variety of animals (wallabies, tree kangaroo, snow leopard, amur leopard and tiger, ukapi, hogs, gorillas, zebras, orangatans (both species), hippos, penguins, elephants, rhino, and otters, just to name some of my favorites), but they also have amazing interactive shows, up-close and personal viewing areas that separate you from the animals by glass instead of 10 yards of ditch.
They also have the added perk of being on a mountainside, which offers amazing views of Garden of the Gods and the Colorado Springs area.
The newest addition is a brand new penguin and hippo facility which has yet to open as of 9/17/19. The facility looks amazing and should offer a unique experience with added species to come.
They also have great attractions for kids including a carousel, playground and a small water park with smaller animals for the kids to get up close to.
Foods and beverages a plenty, including more adult-themed restaurants with alcoholic beverages.
Overall, the best zoo I've seen - including San Diego, Central Park, Denver, and Central Florida.
Great zoo, however some parts were under construction when I'm writing this review. Heavily recommend if you're visting, or going for the 5th time.
The Zoo Lights were great! Better than the Denver Zoo lights that we went to last year-round the drive!
Great zoo with lots of activities and places beyond the exhibits for children from 4-12.
An excellent zoo. Not only are the exhibits top quality but the view from the zoo to Colorado Springs is awesome. We went to the Denver Zoo last weekend and they did a far better job at enforcing masks and social distancing; hence, the only reason for 4 stars vs. 5. Otherwise, a very enjoyable time.
The Cheyenne Mountain Zoo was so cool a lot!!! then I got to see the Elephant, giraffe, lion, tigers and gorillas really fun to go out I love it really fancy shiny mountains it was really because I liked it a lot and mom and dad!!
This was a great zoo. Everyone was super nice and we were able to get close to the animals
Such a beautiful and amazing zoo. We even enjoyed watching all the chipmunks running around.
This zoo is pretty cool. I didn't know what to expect, but it really surpassed my assumptions. We came in January, and got there right at opening. We got to witness the releasing of the giraffes, and got to be some of the first to purchase lettuce and feed them. Their long, quivering tongues longing for a little bit of romaine are slightly intimidating at first, and kinda throws you off when their tongue wraps around your finger, but they're so sweet and gentle. I loved being able to be so close. Even feeding the goat was fun! Put the food in the bucket, and the goat runs up to the scaffolding to turn a wheel to bring up your offering! Very cool. One star deducted because the ape house was literally one of the worst smelling places I've ever been. It was hot and oppressively, heavily rank. People were dry heaving. It was a special, spicy stink that makes your nose burn and run, even when you're only breathing through your mouth. Also, the taste level in the reptile house was questionable. It looked like the zoo had a low budget for decoration and went to tjmaxx clearance. Really weird.
The sky ride was fantastic and totally worth the fee. You can go as many times as you want! And it was so fun to be able to drive through the zoo and up to the shrine afterward. What a blast from the past m places just aren't run like this these days, and it's very special.
My daughter loves coming & pointing out the animals
Great place for the family, kids love the animals and the plane where they can sit in the cockpit, and adults enjoy the view. The fact that it's a real mountain with all this big trees is great and animals feel happier than in a usual zoo ( except for the primates, they are in tiny rooms...) Don't forget to drive to the castle on the top of the mountain, it's included in the ticket. The view is great, and the castle is amazing, especially for the teens!
This was a clean kept zoo. There were lots of baby animals when we visited. Also a lot of interaction.
The coolest zoo I've ever been to! You get really close to the animals.
Got an email saying they're open drove the distance to get there and found out that they're limiting the amount of people in the park...
Love the giraffes!!! Beautiful view for miles and miles!
We had so much fun at the zoo. Loved being able to interact with most the animals. Love the exhibits.
It's a zoo. Always under construction. Not enough parking in there summer. It's a nice location and there is a decent variety of animals. The only place I've been with a Rocky Mountain animal section so that's pretty cool.
This place is wonderful for both adults and kids. Dress warm with comfortable shoes as you are visiting a zoo on the side of a mountain. Absolutely unique in design and a memory maker for sure.
Best zoo in Colorado! Shout out to Dillenger the ferret.
We had an awesome time. It was cool out, the animals were all enjoying themselves. The best close up experience at a zoo . Friendly staff members and super, super clean all over. Wildlife at it's best and very well maintained areas.
BEST ZOO IN THE WORLD!! I have been to at least ten zoos all over the world, and this one is the best hands down. The lions could tell I was manly, it showed me it s but.
Really impressed with this place. I can see why it's one of the top zoos in the country. Feed the giraffe. Visit the gorillas and Orangatang . Ride the chair lift and don't miss the Grizzly Bear!
This zoo has really come into its own over the past several years. The giraffe, bear, zebra, monkey exhibits are great. The "Sky Ride" is a cool way to view a chunk of the zoo and the Colorado Springs city below. Great outing with the family.
It's an amazing zoo. Make sure you are ready to walk uphill, a lot. I took my kids and they enjoyed all the activities that were going on. There were definitely lots of animals to see and some to feed and possibly pet. I would absolutely recommend going.
The wait was so long that they gave us a coupon for half off but it was already 4 o clock and they close at five so it wasn t even worth it. I wish they would have gave us something for the next day or something more worth it we drove two hours just to go to he zoo):
This is a wonderful zoo . The natural scenery is amazing, and the zoo has undergone extensive renovations to modernize their exhibits to make them more spacious and habitat like. This zoo cares about conservation and deserves support from the community. It's an awesome day trip any time of the year--you won't regret your visit!!
Great place to really get close with the animals and actually interact. Wonderful for little kids. Only have one complaint. DON'T BUY THE SKY RIDE AT THE FRONT. IT IS A WASTE OF MONEY. It is a gondola lift that takes you to the top where there is literally nothing. It's a small gift shop with higher prices, and jungle gym. That's it. Total waste of money.
As a family, we loved the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo. It was the perfect size to see everything we wanted to see at the zoo in a day. They had alot of kid activities. My child loved petting and brushing the goats. We loved feeding the Giraffes lettuce. Personally, I thought the Giraffes were the best part of the zoo. We had so much fun.
This zoo is AMAZING! Kids loved feeding the giraffes and even an elephant! The whole place is beautiful and well taken care of. Will definitely make the trip from Denver more often to visit.
This zoo is great! It's fairly small, but has so many great exhibits and interactions (such as feeding animals & even walking beside them inside enclosures). Everyone is so friendly, the prices are reasonable.
CMZ is a first class zoo with something for everyone.
My kids loved it. we went for boo at the zoo. I don't know any other zoo that's literally in the mountains! Long walk , but worth it.
I go there so often, one of my favorite places to visit! The giraffes are my favorite because you get to feed them!
Amazing setting with animals who are obviously well cared for by the staff. Everyone is friendly and willing to take the extra time to answer any questions you may have.
My personal favorite zoo! The mountain side location is just the start of the great time you can have. Brought my family and we absolutely loved feeding the Giraffes which you can do all the time. It can be a bit of a hike but the paths and trails are all well maintained and the zoo is excellently staffed.
Boo at the Zoo was not well thought out, with very few nocturnal animals to view; if any.
I love that when you first walk in, you come face to face with 20+ giraffes to feed and touch! The entire zoo is very beautiful and interactive: the map made it easy to reach every exhibit in a timely fashion, you can enjoy animals like sloths and wallabies with no cages, and the sky ride was a great way to end our day.! I will be bringing everyone who visits me to this zoo!
Talk to the giraffe keeper k. Awesome. Judy In the gift shop both are excellent examples of what staff should be.
We were staying in Colorado Springs for vacation last week and wanted to see this zoo with the big giraffe herd. My wife loved it because she got to feed them. You pay a small price and they give lettuce to feed the giraffes. It was a pretty cool experience. The zoo is in the mountains, so expect to walk uphill quite a bit. The layout is very nice and the zoo isn't huge, so it had a more personal feel to it. Riding the ski lift is a must if you visit. You get a nice view of the zoo and surrounding area. I'm terrified of heights, so I was a little nervous while riding up, but it was fun. There were a lot of cars there but it never felt crowded.
This was a great experience, my wife and I loved feeding the animals. This was a great idea to get a good workout with a very scenic view. This was a far better experience then the denver zoo.
Absolutely wonderful animals. There is a lot of up and down hill walking just so you are prepared, but it is so worth it. Feed the giraffes it is so fun.
I've been to a lot of big name zoos; this is my favorite.
Definitely worth the trip. Lots to see in a beautiful area of Colorado.
Hands down one of the best zoo s ever!!! A must see in Colorado Springs!!!
Always love going. Will go again as my kiddo gets older.
Overall this is a nice family zoo. They are updating a few of the exhibits and I hope to make it back to see how they turn out. This zoo is on the side of the mountain, but it is not to strenuous.
My favorite zoo! Aside from simply being so beautiful, which in itself is a big deal, the opportunities to be up close and feed some of the animals is amazing! Definitely a must see.
I have been to zoos all over the country and this is one of my favorite. The way they kept nature as the main theme. Feeding the giraffes and the interaction with the rhinoceros made my whole day.
Always a good time even when it is busy. Our labor day trip was great. Almost all the animals were out and putting on a show.
This zoo is great. The view while visiting the zoo is amazing. It's bit of a walk to the top, bring lots of water. They have misting stations to help keep you cool. Has many different types of animals. If you visit the bird house don't bother paying for the peanut butter sticks if there's lots of people there, the birds are stuffed. Overall awesome zoo the kids love it.
One of the best zoos I've ever been to. Cannot recommend enough. They take great care of their animals and have a wide variety of species to see! We take all our out-of-town friends to see this. Be sure to feed the giraffes!!!
Loved this zoo, when in Colorado again will definitely go visit again.
As always, fun for the whole family! Our teenage boys, who are not easy to entertain, even had a pretty good time! If you go, you have to go try pizza with a view restaurant. It was REALLY good European style pizza. My suggestion is to go when the zoo opens because you have the best opportunity of seeing all the animals as they feed them early in the morning. We go to the zoo about once a year, and I am always impressed of the layout of the zoo. It seems to always work out as a good half day trip. That's including going up to the shrine of the sun.
I love this zoo! The setting couldn't be more beautiful and the conservation initiative Cheyenne Mountain Zoo prides themselves on is wonderful. I loved feeding the animals and I look forward to new exhibits, which happens often.
Fantastic place to visit! Staff is extraordinary & attentive. Couldn t think of a more better place to spend a day.
Awesome zoo with lots of verticality. Best place to go if you want a fun family day trip in Colorado!
Great experience as always. Fun for the whole family!
How you can feed the giraffes with lettuce because at most zoos you can't.
The zoo is a lot of fun overall with kids. The giraffe feeding is great. They need to make public water available in more areas of zoo. It is very reasonably priced for a non public funded zoo
