Valentine's Day--- very busy; The staff was ON POINT and the food was great. I was very impressed and surprised. Not a fan of Caribbean food, however my Cajun shrimp pasta was GREAT. The atmosphere, the happy people, the Chef (Rob), the music --- GREAT, GREAT, GREAT. I will definitely be visiting there again.

Friend suggested Chef Rob cafe & Upscale Lounge for her birthday party coming up. So we decided to try their meal first. The wait time was short, what a relief, not crowded a plus. The atmosphere was clean with comfortable seating. The waiter was attentive, Horray. Jerk chicken seasoned and not greasy with rice & peas. Oxtail with rice, plantains, mac & cheese for my friend. Oxtail was mostly fatty deposit on bone.... Come on Chef Rob almost gave you 5 stars.
Nice clean place. Their Oxtail is rich in flavor and has meat! Prices are good. Food has real Caribbean taste. Portions feel smaller though. Ill still come back.
Went there for lunch today to order curry chicken. It taste HORRIBLE! CURRY was watery, SOUPY GRAVY and had no seasoning. I will not be going back! EVER! Just plain AWFUL!
Nickel and dime you over everything! Eating dinner and will not serve you a complimentary tap water; have to order a bottle water at $3 per bottle. Garlic bread, which is usually complimentary elsewhere with your meal, is $3; comes with 3 half slices. On top of $10 entrance fee and automatic 18% gratuity on all checks. Will not return.
Normally I don't waste my time and leave reviews but I just had to do it. I've ordered food from this restaurant on uber eats at least ten times, I've done call ahead orders three times, and I've dined in the restaurant twice and the one good thing I can say is the food is always amazing, hot, and fresh. I would never take that away from Chef Robs. The one star given is because the two times I've dined in I had the worst experiences. Worst services ever. Me and my family waited about ten minutes to actually get greeted ( not because of staffing issues either) just because the lady really didn't seem interested in waiting on us. We finally got our food, it was missing an item, another server had to help because our server was no where to be found, to get that item took another 15 mins, we had to get silverware from other tables because we didn't have enough, and we had to ask for napkins. One of the kids spilled a drink on the floor and I had to wipe it up with no help from the servers or Mexican cleanup staff they had. The floor was damp and someone could have slipped but nobody cared. When we received the checks they added the gratuity which in all the restaurants Ive frequented through out the years I've never had that happen to me. I tipped on top of the gratuity but I defiantly won't be back. I guess the staff judged us from the moment we walked in. We had just came back from hiking and we choose to go there after. I've told all of my buckhead mom friends to try Chef Robs but now if they ask me about it I have to say uber eats only. That service is embarrassing and I wouldn't want that associated with me at all.
Our server was great, Lisa. Visited on a Sunday afternoon. For an appetizer we got two large microwaved eggrolls divided into 4. Afterwards ordered the seafood penne pasta. I picked out crabshell from my food twice.
Went for a birthday party. There were 10 of us. Service was great and so was the food. I ordered the salmon and the Cajun seafood dip. Tasted great. The only thing I would have improved was the collard greens. After dinner we had to exit the restaurant to enter the hookah lounge. Overall a great experience. I will be returning.
Be aware! I was here Saturday night and the next day my credit card was scammed. Luckily , my credit card company called and canceled my card. Other than the that, I ordered jumbo shrimp fro 9.95 and ended up with 5 small shrimp and flavorless coconut rice. There was also a gratuity added for a party of three. Not returning.
The jerk chicken was amazing with the perfect amount of spice. Our waiter was also very friendly and helpful. Their prickley pear margarita was also amazing! I did not like how they left the bone in the chicken however.
My first time visiting this place and customer service was awful..as soon as I approached the place the lady at the front was very rude. The food was good but very spicy. I love spicy food but this food was too spicy to continue eating.
It was excellent tonight. The service is always good and the food is made with love everytime. The chef was there as always, but I have never seen him as much as I did tonight and he is so polite. The entire staff Is polite. I had family here from Mississippi for the weekend and they wanted to try authentic oxtails and they were not disappointed. The dj wasnt here and that was my only sadness. That was my fault though because he was present earlier in the day. Overall this place always provides and never disappoints.
What restaurant doesn't have bottled water? This one of course! On top of that, they won't allow you to bring your own in. Our waitress was also very rude. She left the table without getting half of our drink orders and then came back and said we must have just arrived because she asked everybody. Whatever happened to "I apologize and what can I get you?" I was so aggravated I didn't order any food. I didn't miss anything though because my friend said the food was too salty. First and last time there!
I will never go back- the waitress and manager had attitudes and were very unprofessional. Beware of this place due to adding gratuity on all checks!!! Hot mess and ghetto attitudes--
925pm, soon as I walk in I'm asked am I ordering carryout and told it's too late to order to sit down and eat??? You close at 10pm though? You literally could've just put food in a to go plate and let me eat there for 10 min...but nah... will be very hard for me to return
There are better places than Chef Rob's for Carribean food. I paid almost $100 for 3 meals and 2 appetisers. Some of the food was either undercooked or overcooked. I could have taken my family 13 miles across town for better quality Carribean food even after inviting friends, for less than the price I paid. Never will I eat here again.
Had alot of hype... i was definitely not impressed. Mimosas are unsharable and the best thing on the menu is the jerk crab n cream sauce.. needs upgraded plateware
Food was hot fresh very good service staff was extremely unproffessional as me and my husband ate they stared at us relentlessly as though there was a running joke made it very uncomfortable to finish out meal
My food was so good! I had the bbq salmon and my friend had the oxtails. Very very good and a good portion of food. I also had the house made ginger beer. That was so good and the perfect amount of ginger. I also got a hug from Ched Rob to make it all worth while.
This was the worst dining experience. We were celebrating my husband's birthday. Waited 50 minutes just for a glass of water. We were told by our waitress that they had no clean glasses available which happens everytime the lounge and restaurant are open at the same time. The food came out one dish at a time. So we really didn't get to dine together. The kitchen was backed up. The items that were listed on the website menu were no longer being served in the restaurant. The rum cake listed on the house menu wasn't available because the preparer only made small bundt cake slices which sold out within an hour. The food was truly over priced (2 BURNED crab cakes the size of a half dollar coin on a bed of seasoned cabbage cost 16.95, although menu price was 15.95). Jerk Chicken and Curry Chicken both dry and more bone than chicken. This part was just funny, an 18% automatic gratuity for a party of 4 and an automatic 10% gratuity for take-out. Oh and a 4.00 food sharing fee. I wouldn't even mind those gratuity fees if the service was good and the food was good. Neither were even acceptable. Thank God my husband appreciated my effort. But this was a birthday dinner disaster! I'll never return. Too many great restaurants in Atlanta to ever waste time or money here.
The food was tasty EXCEPT the cabbage which was one of the reasons I came, they literally gave me RAW uncooked cabbage!!! It was crunchy??! Whyyy was my cabbage dry and crunchy like a salad?? Lol so disappointed. I gave it 3 stars bc my oxtails and rice was good but for the price?? I need my cabbage Cooked. Smh.
I would like to start by thanking Chef Rob and his crew for excepting our catering request outside of the minimum requirement of 72hrs for all catering requests. My husband's grandmother passed and the family planned to cook for the repast but I didn't want them to deal with any additional stress. I initially reached out to my good friend Suzette over at My4boysjamaicancuisine.com but she was already booked for an event the day of the funeral. I found myself up late Wednesday night online researching and reading reviews for caribbean caterers in Atlanta. Mind you, I'm in Houston attempting to make this happen at the 9th hour. I reached out to three of the top rated caterers via email, voicemail and text. It's was late, around 10pm EST, someone from Chef Rob's team respond to my request immediately. I was invoiced that night. I confirmed the order and delivery information the following morning. I even had a schedule request change they accommodated. On the day of the service, to my surprise the food was delivered and set up personally by Chef Rob himself. He expressed his condolences to our family and said it was his pleasure to be of service during this time. We ordered a full pan of Curry Chicken, a full pan of Blackened Salmon, a full pan of Grilled Salmon, half a pan of Jerk Chicken, two full pans of Rice and Peas, a full pan of macaroni and cheese, a full pan of Collard Greens with Smoked Turkey ,a full pan of Steamed Cabbage, and a full pan of Veggie Patties. There was plenty of food, enough for everyone to take plates to go and we ate off the leftovers for two days. Over all your Blackened Salmon and Veggie Patties received rave reviews. I really enjoyed the Blackened Salmon, Cabbage and Macaroni and Cheese. My husband's Aunt really liked the Veggie Patties. I'll forever be grateful to you Chef for showing up in our time of need and providing good food and service. May God continue to bless you! Ronda Matthias
Very loud. Takes for ever to get the food. Had to send one of the entrees back and waited for ever to get it back. Dessert did not come even half an hour after the bill was paid. When asked for refund for dessert at the counter, they found it sitting at the counter. Finally left with the dessert since nobody wanted to process refund for the dessert. Last time for me to visit this eatery.
Today I ordered the turkey burger. I normally always love the food at Chef Robs. Today my turkey burger was salty & so were the garlic fries. I told my waitress but she didnt react. Oh well I guess I wont order that anymore. But surprised of her reaction.
This site is my first choice site. Of all restaurants I know I like it most. I never miss an opportunity to go to this restaurant. when I feel like having a special lunchon, this restaurant comes straight to my mind. very good and diverse food and a large list of dishes.generous crew, and pleasant atmosphere. And very important, the pay is good. I tell about this place with pleasure.
I come to Atlanta to eat oxtails at Chef Rob they're the best I've ever had and everytime I try anywhere else just to try and compare I always revert back to going to Chef Rob Caribbean cafe
To be fair, I am not Jamaican, so I don't think I really know what 'authentic' is supposed to taste like. I can only tell you what I'm used to, and from my experience, the flavors in the curried chicken were NOT bold at all...more salty than flavorful with Jamaican curry.
They currently have Groupon deals, so you may want to try via their offers first, because the price for a drink and entree (i.e. curried chicken) was in the neighborhood of $20.00, which is VERY expensive for Jamaican food...I've NEVER spent that much, and the food tasted much better.
Again, I'm no expert, I'm just lamenting based on other restaurants I've frequented in Atlanta.
1 star is for the food, the other 2 stars are for the restaurant. They did a good job with the place...it's very clean and has a nice style and ambiance for an intimate dinner.
I discovered this place not long after they opened. The service is always great, but the food is greater! My family and I have tried many things on the menu and we're always pleased!
Although a little pricey, Chef Rob has some of the best Jamaican food in Atlanta. Authentic, taste fresh, nut like it's been sitting in a warmer all day. Perhaps it is the best! Saving up coins for my next visit, lol! Fish Tea was amazing!
The food was okay. Not exactly as I expected from all the talk I kept hearing.
We came here as a part of my birthday dinner. We spent almost $200. I ordered a Birthday Dessert and the waiter stated she would bring it closer to the end of our visit. Our bill came and she still hadn't brought my cheesecake out. We asked her about it and she said oh the kitchen closed and therefore I wouldn't be able to get my Dessert.
Don't wring me up for something that I can't even get better yet, you know what time your kitchen closes so why not grab your tables final plates instead of having to give bad news! Ultimately it just changed the dynamics of my birthday and celebration with my family for that night because I felt it was distasteful service.
The waiter had things on our receipt that we didn't even order. Maybe it was just an off night for them.
The food portions were subpar for the price, the taste seemed pretty rushed no flavor really, and yet I gave it a 3 star because at least the waiter tried by giving me a birthday shot.
The food I ordered was delicious! I ordered the stewed Red Snapper that's how wanted mine. The side of Vegetables and beans, rice I cleaned the plate Chef Rob didn't disappoint excellent make sure you try to stop by this restaurant YUMMY! Great Caribbean food!
When I say this restaurant is good af it's good af!!! They're oxtails are so good and service was great!!!! Will definitely be back I enjoyed it so much!!!!
HORRIBLE, MY RICE WAS GUMMY MY OAXTAL TASTE LIKE VINGER AND MY. GABBAGE WAS TASTELESS. I'M VERY DISAPPOINTED AFTER READING THE REVIEW I THOUGHT I WOULD TRY IT. IT'S THE WORST JAMAICAN FOOD I'VE EVER HAD. MY FAMILY IS JAMACIAN!
Chef Rob's salmon stir fry dish was AMAZING!!!!! I was actually surprised to see this on the menu. It was perfect for me as I only eat seafood and to find a stir fry dish that had salmon as the meat option just blew my mind. Thank you for being so creative with your dishes and not being afraid to present something different. The flavor of the Salmon stir fry had my taste buds literally dancing. The customer service was excellent and the atmosphere was exceptional. #ChefRob #KingChefRob #Blessed #RealMen
The mango chicken, I believe it was called, was OUTSTANDING!! Paired with the coconut rice is was perfectly sweet and savory, I craved it days after!! It was a large portion as well and my sever, uzo I believe, was very kind
I ordered "Rum cake" and came to the conclusion that our forefathers must be turning in their graves! What I got was an atrocious pound cake sprinkled with rum. They microwaved it for God knows how long and sold it for $5. Nowhere on this earth should that be sold as rum cake especially not at a Jamaican restaurant where our grannys taught us better than that. So disappointed!
This place is dishonest and all about the money. No customer service at all and they will add an extra charges to your bill. I was told to come back to get my money from the server who wrote in her own tip after I had already been charged an 18% tip on the check. WTH Its not my reasonability to track down your employee that's your problem. Never go here because it was only $5.00 and they refuse to make it rite its all about being honest and taking care of your customer The money could have made off of me will go else ware now and I hope yours dose to.
