Had a little trouble navigating entry, because the front of the building is more mall-like and indicates "Shops at Charleston Place". Found the alley entry and was greeted by the valet. Javier was our "first impression" and a great one. So friendly and helpful. The Belmont is a beautifully appointed hotel. Did not expect that upon arrival. Every single staff person encountered was over and above friendly. The lobby had beautiful fresh flowers and was just a pleasant check in experience. When I got to my room, I was greeted by the turndown service and as I entered my room I found such a spectacularly gorgeous and semi-luxurious space. The decor was inviting and well thought out. Cleanliness is important and they have nailed it. After a long day of travel, I ordered dessert room service and Stevie was an excellent server. This has moved into one of my top stays.

We had the privilege to stay at the Belmond Charleston Place a few weeks ago. This hotel is absolutely beautiful and located in the heart of downtown Charleston. Our room was upgraded to a luxurious suite when we arrived. The staff was very accommodating and made us feel like royalty. I would recommend this hotel to anyone staying in the downtown area of Charleston. We look forward to returning and staying here again!

We stayed here because we had an offer on our credit card. Normally a hotel like this isn't in the budget, but this was our first outing in 8 months so we decided to spurlge. We were only there 1 night and upon checking in, we were informed of our $100 credit and encouraged to use it. The service was nothing over the top, but it was good, and we would have had a great experience if we weren't met at checkout with surprise charges because it turns out that our credit couldn't be applied to certain aspects. We were not informed of this upon check-in nor given any paperwork with an outline of what would be covered. Having to tip out of pocket would have been fine had that been my expectation; it was the lack of explanation up front and shady application after the fact that makes this so off-putting. When we asked the front desk what the charges were they matter of factly said gratuity isn't included and couldn't tell us where to find that outlined in any paperwork we did receive. We were on a tight timeline when leaving, so we didn't have time to speak with a manager in person.
Overall, for the amount that we spent for a bed, I would expect better customer service than a big "you should've known" when checking out and combative behavior we've experienced since then. I'll never be back here or to any Belmond properties.

I didn t stay there. I did lose my wallet in the building and a Good Samaritan turned it in to the front desk. This was Saturday April 26. The front desk called while were still on King Street within an hour from my discovery that it was lost. Remarkable people working there and I was able to retrieve the wallet thereafter. Thank you to the person who turned it in and the staff. What a blessing.

Advertised as pet friendly, but not exactly true. Belmond front desk said a $150 pet fee plus a required "pet sitter" (more $) if you leave your room. I get the pet fee, but a pet sitter? Not so much.

I stayed here for my honeymoon and was completely blown away. The staff was top-notch, helpful, and friendly. The club level service was above and beyond, and the spa treatment was just fantastic. The room was, in a word, stunning. The rooftop pool and pool bar were also great, especially at sunset. And, the hotel is in the heart of one of the most beautiful cities in the south. I can't recommend a place more enthusiastically.

Do not stay here while they are renovating.....my newly renovated room is gorgeous but when I leave my room there are construction workers everywhere, paint fumes, & construction dust flying everywhere. Yes, the mattresses are crummy!

Beautiful hotel with large rooms right in the center of town. We stayed in the most basic room type (Deluxe) and were pleased with the comfortable beds, large room and bathroom, and tasteful furnishings. It was the holidays season, so they had a large train set in the lobby that the kids enjoyed. High-end shops all around. Only downside is the additional charge for parking. $25/night for self-park in the garage, $35/night for valet (plus tips). At this price point, parking should be included.

My husband and I stayed at the The Belmont upon checking in it was great! Bellman was awesome after checking in and getting settled in room 608 I notice that the bathroom had a strange smell, after checking to see where it was coming from I noticed pee stains around the toilet at a almost 5star hotel am not expecting this!
We made a complaint to the front desk which they said it was just a stained!!!
We settled in a later decided to have a drink at the dinning area our waitress was very nice after we decided to call it at evening and head to back to our room while walking in the lobby with my keys I was approached by a 5feet guy bold at the top of his head asking me if am a guest stay at the hotel! I had my keys in my hand and there was other people that was walking so I asked him if he stopped and asked everyone passing through the lobby with a key if they stayed there or just persons that he think that should not be there that spend over $500 per night to be accused and integrated by a security guard!
I made a complaint to the front desk and manager that was on duty no! apology, no! am going to file a report, no! I ll check into it!!!!!
There are other places in Charleston with way better hospitality do yourself a favor and stay somewhere else there are way nicer and better customer service!

This property is absolutely gorgeous, my wife and I loved this place. We went for a romantic weekend getaway and WOW! The staff were extremely generous and catered to all of our needs. The concierge staff was outstanding!!! This hotel is the best in Charleston, or should I say all of South Carolina.

1. Reserved a Corner One-Bedroom Suite at $600 per night.

2. Checked into the hotel at 2:30 PM. Was told by the front desk that my room was not ready.

3. The front desk called me at 3:00 PM to tell me my room was ready. When I went up to my room, it was not a corner, not a suite, basically not what I reserved.

4. When I went downstairs I was told that they put me in a smaller room because they had no suites available. But that since I came back to them, the hotel would give me a $200 food voucher.

5. The details of my experience are actually worse. Let s just say the front desk staff needs training in hospitality and customer service.

6. I was left to my own to cancel the hotel reservation at the Belmond and find new arrangements.

We had an awesome stay here. In terms of location, building quality, restaurants, service, friendliness of the staff, the Belmond Charlston Place is far superior to all the other properties we have stayed at in SC and Georgia. The room was very well appointed, spacious and clean. Water pressure in the shower was excellent as was the hot water supply. Absolutely no complaints. Highly recommended!

The Belmind is a beautiful hotel in downtown historic Charleston. I visited for a work event and was bumped to the top flook due to space constraints. The Club Floor is gorgeous and worth it. The room and food are amazing. The bathroom is lined with beautiful marbe and the shower is like being under a warm waterfall! Definitely stay again when I win the lottery!

Absolutely beautiful property but don't go shopping in the shops.... We purchased a few items from the high end stores and left a pair of shoes in the room when we checked out. I called only four hours later and they completely disappeared..... I went back and forth with the hotel security and no one was able to give me any answers. Even after checking the "cameras" I'm completely bewildered that a hotel at this caliber could handle guests so poorly and not be able to offer any solution. The pair of shoes that were left that were brand new were a $1200 pair of Gucci shoes. Which I'm sure the room addenant is enjoying.... I've now been given the direction to make a police report and call American Express. Not very high end customer service at all!!! Save your money and stay in one of the nicer boutique hotels near by.

Disappointed. Stayed at the Dewberry just prior to the stay at Belmond and both the service and facilities were far superior at Dewberry. Loose, mildewy caulking around the tub and no explanation of property benefits upon check-in that resulted in a $30 charge that should've been covered by a property credit which management refused to credit back.

2nd time here, and we love the rooms, facilities, and the service. It's pricey of course, but worth it for the experience of great hospitality and a centralized location right in the middle of downtown Charlestown.

Somewhat overrated. For the price I would expect more. The bell staff was great on the way into our room but was zero for four during the rest of our visit. They do not answer the phone, spend too much time talking with each other and not enough time assuring a high service level. When they finally did answer the phone, they dropped the ball and did not have the car pulled out when we got downstairs (and we were "just in time" for the wedding to which we were going).
Puzzled by the sale of inexpensive jewelry from sloppy looking folding tables in the lobby -- the tables had no skirts on them and the wires and boxes of set up materials were visible as strewn around under the table -- I talked to the woman who was selling the jewelry and it was not a pleasant conversation.

My credit card was charged fraudulently by your hotel. Upon noticing the amount, I called the front desk and requested FRAUD. I was My credit card was charged fraudulently by your hotel. Upon noticing the amount I called the front desk and asked to be transferred to Issac Accounting. I explained to Issac I did not authorize or book a charge in my name. I am the credit card holder, and I di not give anyone permission to use my credit card. Issac said that I am responsible for the charge. I explained that I could not be responsible for someone else reservation and this is FRAUD!! I told Issac that I was going to write a complaint addressing the fraudulent use of my credit card and REQUEST all funds be returned to my credit card immediately !! It is ashamed that your company /hotel is this desperate for money to steal my money and i did not request a reservation in my name or authorize my credit card!! to Issac in FRAUD Accounting. This is one of the best hotels I've ever stayed at...

This is one of the best hotels I've ever stayed at. It is right in the heart of Charleston's historic district which makes it great to walk everywhere you want. It is also incredibly nice inside, both the lobby area as well as the rooms. I try to stay here every time I come down to Charleston.

The Belmondo Charleston was absolutely phenominal! I've had the opportunity to travel to some pretty nice hotels throughout the years and this one hands down was the best. Not only did they upgrade us because it was my birthday they continually gave the upmost customer service. Everyone was friendly, welcoming and went above and beyond to take care of us. The food was fantastic and the rooms were heavenly! We will definitely be planning our next trips around this hotel and their partners.

Attended for 2 day, 2 night work event. Room was nice and comfortable, and the staff was extremely attentive. Zero issues. I will note that the entrance off Meeting Street was easy to miss, bit hey, Charleston is a beautiful city, so an extra 5 minutes circling the Market isn't so bad!
