Classy, great service, beautiful hotel, awesome location, you can't go wrong!
Amazing! Such great attention to detail by all of the staff! Very friendly and helpful staff. Beautiful hotel and newly renovated rooms are gorgeous!
C'mon....
Not luxury, high price and average. The bell service was great and room was clean.
I booked through United Airlines Mileage rewards site. I clearly had two reservation options, (1) option that included (1) bed deluxe room or a completely separate option that said (1) or (2) bed type Deluxe Room. I chose the (1) bed deluxe room, in order to secure a (1) bed reservation for stay on wife's birthday. Upon check in, I'm told we only have (2) bed Deluxe rooms left but that I could pay $50 more for an upgraded room with (1) bed and balcony. I reminded that I clearly had in my hand a reservation that stated (1) bed Deluxe room and inquired if I would now be charged more, as the hotel was unable to abide to the booking that was made through an authorized partner? Yes sir, unless you would like the (2) beds.
At this point, the hotel had a decision to make regarding the difference between standard customer service or setting themselves apart and earning repeat business. They chose to stick to a $50 upcharge that was no upgrade. Poor move for a "luxury" hotel. Again, my wife's birthday and not going to waste additional time at check in.
Next, your upgraded room is not ready, we'll call you. It was 2:30 and check in is not until 4, so understandable. We have dinner reservation at 5, before play at charleston stage and would like a call as soon as we can enter room. We walk around market and wait, wait, wondering when it will be ready. We finally show up at 4 and inquiry about status of room. Oh, its been ready we're told. No call. Same deal with the couple next to us in line as well. Luxury service?
Room was very clean, kudos to staff, with the exception of the AC return for the room. It drips water and has mold on the corners, etc. I travel for business and this is not unheard of at top chains, but certainly not luxurious.
We travel to Charleston for weekends away quite often and spent some time searching for a great hotel. This is not one to consider - location is good, but this is not a luxury hotel, nor does it have customer service different than anywhere else. The weekend was great, but hotel was a downer.
Beautiful location, I love how conveniently located this hotel is!!
Excellent apps, good wine list, friendly servers and a pianist! What is not to like...!
Excellent hotel to stay at during the eclipse ! Nice hotel here , great view of historic charleston , and nice h'ordeuvres ! Convenient to everywhere in charleston and nice rooms here !
Gorgeous southern hotel, great location in historic downtown Charleston with scenic views and great service fr6the world class staff. Highly recommended to all! Probably top 3 hotels I have ever staid in. Love this place!
The bar downstairs facing Meeting Street is great for groups. It has a solid selection of beverages at a decent price point and a comfortable seating arrangement. Definitely one of the best sports bars on the peninsula.
We went for my husbands 30th birthday and our stay was exceptional. The hotel is beautiful and we dined in three of the restaurants attached to it. The concierge went above and beyond to make sure our stay was special. Truly excellent service. I would 100% recommend!
A beautiful room, with ornate decorations. No closet, just an armoire, and the TV was really old and frankly fuzzy... they need to upgrade.
We were pleased with everything, except on the second day after housekeeping came by I noticed that they had added two gatorades to the items from which we could take, for a charge. I even commented on it, thinking they'd done if after seeing the empty bottle of wine from the night before (hangover cure, obviously). When we checked out the next day, there was a charge for two gatorades! We went to the front desk and told them we didn't drink any gatorades, and had even commented on the funny appearance of the gatorades (since there were none to choose from upon check in). They were pretty snide about it, but ended up taking it off our bill.
Then, I found that there was a $200 dollar charge on my credit card, which we put on hold for incidentals, after we got home. After 20 minutes on the phone with the hotel, the charge is explained and removed but... I don't think we will be staying here again. For over $500 for two nights, we got a crappy TV and rude service. Great location though, and very comfy bed.
Awesome stay! Was planned for two nights but because of the mandatory evacuation due to hurricane Matthew and they had no issues refunding us for our unused night!
Great overall experience. Enjoyed the quality of the rooms, pool, and beautiful lobby.
Never went inside. Only looked at the cars Baker Motors had displayed there.
Really nice hotel right in the heart of Charleston. Nice staff. Clean rooms. Good sports bar attached to the hotel.
Great place and great service! One of the nicest places my wife and I ever stayed at. Treated ourselves and it will always be something we talk about. Perfect location.
From the moment we pulled in although the way through check-out the service and staff was nothing but polite, helpful and respectful. The appearance of the hotel exterior and lobby is breathtaking and exceptionally kept. Our room was in tip-top shape and would most-likely have passed a thorough white-glove inspection. I was most pleased with the location of the hotel as it was centrally located to all the shops, restaurants and historic sights of downtown Charleston making it easy to walk everywhere. My only criticism is the price of parking at 24$ a day and the cost of room-service (with a 3$ delivery charge plus 22% gratuity on top of already high prices) which seemed exceptionally high but I understand given the convenience of the location and service. As I said all-in-all it was phenomenal and I look forward to not only returning to Charleston Place but experiencing the Belmond locations all around the world and will stay in one whenever possible.
Our most recent visit to the French Quarter began with me discovering I had made reservations for a day later than our arrival. No problem. Jenny at the the front desk took care of my error and managed to get us a room at the Inn a day ahead of time. She was understanding, considerate, friendly, helpful.
Belmond is always accomodating. Nice high end shops too.
Very nice & elegant hotel situated in the main part of Charleston's shopping and tourist district. Rooms are nice, the restaurant is very accommodating to all who dine there, even creating vegan options. The bar is relaxing with different seating arrangements for groups or individuals. The Christmas decorations were in full swing with a little model train set up. Even if you do not stay at the hotel, it is worth seeing and dining or relaxing at.
Clean Lobby, Gorgeous architecture, and very friendly staff.
Coming back to this terrific Hotel as soon as we can! Wonderful staff, beautiful rooms. Only issue we had was with the pool. Note that there are no steps into the beautiful salt water pool-only the bar/railing ladders.
If you are disabled-they will drop you down slowly ( very slowly) on what looks like a meat hook into and out of the water.
Amazing location with great meeting rooms and ameneties.
My favorite hotel in Charleston. Situated in the heart of downtown historic Charleston with many amnenties including 2 award winning restaurants and a swanky lounge that serves high tea by day and cocktails and appetizers in the evening along with entertainment...Staff is top notch and cant do enough for you..High end shopping and plenty of parking..This hotel has every little detail covered..Highly recommend..
As a local living in downtown Charleston, I ve personally stayed at the Charleston Place hotel several times and always recommend to others. I also frequent the hotel weekly for dinner and drinks. Charleston Place hotel is by far the best hotel in town, especially when comparing to the newly opened Bennett hotel. I recently tried to go into the Bennet to inquire about booking a room and was told by the gentlemen at the door, that I couldn t enter while wearing a hat (just finished playing golf) I refused to take my hat off on sheer principle of their attempt to be higher class than they really are and refusing business based on a hat. They will never get my business. Charleston Place hotel is far more accommodating and respectful to guests, regardless of what people wear or how high class they look!
Beautiful hotel with a nice boutique selection, the true feel of staying in historic Charleston. They set up an amazing Christmas train set!
Charleston Place is located in the center of where you want to be in Charleston. You can walk to most downtown area restaurants, the waterfront and shopping. You are across the street from the Charleston Market and a few blocks from where you can catch a carriage ride around town. The hotel itself is gorgeous with a beautiful entrance and too many details to even explain. I highly recommend Belmond Charleston Place.
Excellent location. Excellent hotel. Very classy. Definitely recommend.
Amazing hotel. Service, rooms, spa/pool/gym all fantastic. Splurge for the Club Level. There's so much complimentary food and drink there, you can skip actually a night or two on the town---and/or breakfast. It (kinda) pays for itself. Looking forward to going back.
Was not a guest however found the lobby and shopping areas spectacular to the eye. Ate lunch at the cafe. The hamburger was amazing and enormous. The prices are a little high, but the quality was well worth it. The staff was top-notch and the service was impeccable. Stayed across the street at a another hotel and realized that the prices at the Belmont were actually cheaper and the rooms looked to be more luxurious
Enjoyed my stay here very much. Was a romantic stay with my boyfriend.
Lovely hotel and convenient to shops, restaurants, short walk to the harbor, etc. The employees were friendly and gracious and all aspects of the service were excellent. The Palmetto cafe was delightful for lunch and the crabcake and lamb pita were delicious. In the evening, we enjoyed listening to the piano music coming from the bar. Great fitness center with a variety of machines, including Pelotons. Beautiful pool with salt water jacuzzi and rooftop deck along with an outside bar. Our room was very comfortable and I loved the touch of fragrant flowers throughout the hotel. Check for special seasonal rates.
Great staff, great room, and good location for shopping. Good nightlife is a little further north but not unwalkable.
Friendly staff, beautiful amenities, wonderful sights.
I'm catching up on my reviews during the quarantine and wanted to let the Charleston Place know that this hotel was absolutely amazing. I cannot wait to come back once it is safe to travel.
This hotel is high end. Every bit of it feels fancy.
Love the place live near by. Beauiful inside we visit their coffee shop the best muffins in town. Worth staying at.
We were pretty disappointed with the Belmond based on price and expectation. The location was nice, although difficult to find where to pull in. The staff was pleasant but not anything special. They were doing their jobs but didn t make you feel like a 5 star resort. Lobby was detailed and beautiful. The room was clean and well appointed. WiFi was spotty, the beds were terribly in need of replacement.
My husband and I went for a minimoon as we had to cancel our honeymoon this year due to covid. The room we were first put in was not good. Everything was broken. The tv, refrigerator, toilet, and iron. We called the front desk to tell them of all these issues and they said we could wait until everything was fixed but we would have to be out of the room for a few hours or we could move to a new room. We decided to move to another room, which was no problem, however, the room they put us in was much much smaller. This would have been understandable had the hotel been full. However, there was only 9 guest in the hotel including us. You would think a hotel who knows a couple is there on their minimoon would upgrade someone for these problems, not put them in a smaller room. We also were given no price reduction for the problems or offered any type of food or beverage comp. Overall, the stay was very disappointing and we will not be staying there again.
A wonderful spa. It s a little expensive but well worth it. 100 minute massage with Damien or Coby will change your life. Other services are excellent too!
The best hotel I've ever stayed at without question. Highly recommend!
Loved everything!!! Rooms were beautiful and housekeeping kept them so neat and clean. Everyone was so friendly and helpful. Concierge desk was so knowledgeable, front desk and bell service so friendly and Steve from room service was delightful. We enjoyed every minute of our stay!!!!
Very pretty lobby, right in the heart of Charleston. Highly recommended place to visit.
Beautiful hotel! Staff was very kind and helpful. I loved the SPA! I also loved that Louis Vuitton & Gucci was SUPER CLOSE! Along with a lot of other store on the same street!
A beautiful hotel that looks as if it were at least 100 years old in the heart of Charleston. Just open a few years ago. This is truly a 5 Star hotel. Rooms. Amenities. Food. Staff.
lovely hotel in the heart of Charleston. I hope to visit again before long.
An establishment that has history and experience and it shows. Quality in all the amenities. Remember downtown is still downtown(nightlife).
Everything about the Belmond is first class. Thanks and kudos to the staff for making our little getaway the best.
Beautiful property with nice facilities. Great lobby bar, especially the bartender Mouzon. Fitness room is one of the best I've seen in a hotel, also the pool and spa are top notch. Room service quality and service were excellent. Housekeeping though, was just plain bad. No water or "do not disturb" (bag of rocks) in the room upon check in. Items not replenished thoroughly. Once we got the "do not disturb" rocks, housekeeping ignored it and knocked and tried to enter very quickly. Kept reporting these issues to management, but they persisted. They did reduce our bill somewhat, but they need to fix this.
Really fabulous hotel, too was beautiful, had drinks and snacks at lobby bar...again excellent. Be sure to see the pool. Hope to be back soon.
It is a very beautiful event space. The art for SEWE was exhibited there.
The service and hospitality is absolutely phenomenal!! Janine, the Conference Service Manager, and Elizabeth at BLOOM supported and collaborated with me and I got the wedding of my dreams! It would be a disservice to go to Charleston and not stay, dine, and/or shop at Belmond Charleston Place.
Very clean, professional and friendly staff. Nice placr
Beautiful hotel. In the heart of downtow Charleston. Service is excellent!
Lovely stay. Rooms are beautifully decorated and the beds very comfortable. All of the staff was happy to go out of their way for any request. Superior hotel in a great location.
5 star service throughout our multiple stays here. Staff are always friendly, competent and ready to assist in any way. Rooms were recently renovated (marble walk-in showers for the win) and location in downtown Charleston couldn't be better. Highly recommend.
