Our sink in our room was clogged, and the white marble floor had pee around the toilet base. I thought it was stained but took a wash cloth with hot water and a lot came off. I paid $500 per night on Orbitz for this hotel. They need better cleaning people or at least inspections. I had sink fixed but didn t say anything abt toilet because I was already frustrated abt the water in the sink not going down. The hotel itself is very nice, loved the Palmetto Cafe.

Service from the Valet, to the Bellman, Front desk, maids, and concierge all very nice. Good location for walks to most historical areas of city. Got to try the pedi-cabs once you get tired of walking. Good access to dog walking areas. City and most of the beaches very dog friendly. A little expensive but the club floors are worth it. Nice pool and work out area. Outdoor roof top bar. Bartender on her game! Pics taken from rooftop bar.

We stayed at the Belmond Charleston Place thanks to a JetBlue package that made the price really appealing. Even the basic room is really spacious and clean, I don't think there's any need to take any higher priced room. Staff was always super corteous and the bed was super comfortable. One side note: they will come in the late afternoon to offer complimentary water, which you won't find in your room on your arrival - being Charleston a super hot place, I would expect to find water in my room from this kind of hotel.

My husband bought me a spa package for my birthday. It was a total surprise. The moment I walked into the Spa I was greeted and treated like a guest. Every member of the Spa team was wonderful. Cordelia done my nails. She was the most pleasant, down to earth, employee I ran across. She has a true loving spirit. I'm not sure of the girl who did my Swedish massage but she wasn't talkative and didn't pay attention to the parts I needed worked out the most even though I kept telling her where my pain was located. The lady who gave me my facial was very nice! I truly enjoyed the sauna and endless mimosas! What a wonderful day

I love this top notch hotel, the spa is wonderful and the food is delicious but the Pimms cup in the piano bar is pretty yummy! The staff throughout is willing to serve with care. #1 pimms cup in Charleston!

I enjoyed my stay very much. Stayed in a suite. Nice room with a great bed. Pillows weren't what I like but it worked ok. Bath tub is great for soaking! Valet & bellmen were very nice. I recommend you guys check this place out. They do have 4 restaurants on site so go and enjoy!

Two stars, I just almost got in an altercation with a crackhead that works here, that was smoking crack, in uniform, on my front porch. He was wearing what appeared to me to be back of house garb.

Not a dishwasher.. maybe a line cook? Maybe class it up and hire people who aren't crackheads. You got an extra star because I've seen the inside of the place and it's nice.

Tired feet from walking all over historic Charleston and a pit stop into the Thoroughbred Club was just what we needed for "hydration". This is a very stylish and upscale hotel.

The bar is likewise. During "happy hour", they have a pianist to soothe the weary. I was pleased to see they have a good by-the-glass wine selection, including a few from my Pacific Northwest.

We were a little hungry and had hummus and pita for a snack. A single serving easily served two.

We liked the Thoroughbred Club so much, we went back twice!

Awesome staff and resort. We had a great anniversary trip. The staff went out of the way to help us make this special. They actually gave us Club level upgrade. And let me tell you. CLUB level is the way to go. Food, drink, appetizers all day. Beautiful pool. Great location.

The Belmond is centrally located within the city. The rooms are large and ready for any need you might have. The hotel in general is very beautiful and the staff helpful. I would also highly recommend the on site restaurants, particularly the Charleston Grille, for both their food and the live jazz on the weekends.

Very DETAILED review. I wish others were more detailed so I could really understand what my experience was going to be like. First of all if you don t care about a pool or spa, stay somewhere else for a more luxurious and esthetically pleasing experience.
The staff is excellent, the place is very nice but seriously lacks any sort of pizazz for lack of a better word. The rooms are nice and well kept but dull and outdated and so is the building to be honest. I love the architecture from this era but there s a way to decorate within it that makes people say wow and they have not mastered that here sadly because I wanted to love this place.
It baffles me that this is a five star hotel (on some sites and not others) yet there aren t any on coffee makers in the rooms. There is a bar in our room (King with Balcony) a fridge, a wine cooler, but yet no coffee, (there is water btw) Coffee makes the world go round and actually makes people get out of bed in the morning yet I m in bed right now thinking about how I m going to have to get up, get dressed, leave our apartment sized room (Yes nice and big thank god) to go across the street and back just to enjoy a coffee on my balcony. The balcony was the whole point of picking this room but it s August and so humid that by the end of the day you do not want to breath in the swampy air, it smells unfortunately. The mornings seem nice and smell ok. Then at night since it overlooks King street, which they sell as a positive, your lucky to sleep well do to the people still up till 2am drinking and socializing outside your window.
The beds are incredibly comfortable thank god and come with feather pillows which I love. You have a dresser and armoire which is nice!
The POOL is incredible! You get to enjoy the sun and shade. The pool is lightly shaded on some parts due to being indoor yet outdoor and the roof looks like it might be able to close if the there was bad weather. There s also a gorgeous hot tub. There is a LARGE terrace space on the outside of the pool that you can sunbath on with umbrellas if you like and a bar with incredible poolside service. We were very pleased with the food. The shrimp cocktail was $19 and we were very pleased to find the portion size was large. There were 8 Jumbo shrimp and they were excellent. The cocktails were delightful and service was excellent. We might go back today. We have spa services booked for this afternoon at 2 and we are very excited so I hope all goes well there. I have a feeling it will.

The location is excellent and within walking distance to excellent shopping and eating. There IS a Starbucks across the street by the way.
All in all its a nice place but we were debating between this place and the Bennett for our vacation and we found ourselves quickly wishing we had booked our stay there. We haven t been to the Bennett so I can t personally speak to we there it is better, but after my research on the hotel, I have a strong feeling that even though the food might not be better, the atmosphere would be more luxurious and there s probably going to be coffee in your room!

We just celebrated our 15th Wedding Anniversary here and were VERY pleased with the entire hotel. Great room, great staff, great spa services, etc. There was not one aspect I would change. Everyone was so attentive and kind. We were very pleased with the room and location. We walked everywhere due to how close it is to shops and restaurants. I highly recommend this to anyone looking for a romantic, luxurious getaway. We did not eat at the hotel for various reasons, but did have coffee at their coffee shop (there is also a Starbucks across the street). We hope to be back in the near future.

Horrible room $500 a night

Horrible room $500 a night
To look at an old roof with ugly A/c
And loudHVAC closet next door that kept me up all night
Then red water comes out of shower in morn.
No mini bar
No bottle water in rooms or coffee

Restaurant was wonderful
Staff was fantastic
Waitress wonderful
When I called to complain
Manager was as kind as could be
Of course removed cost of room. This was not my intention but it helped.

My biggest issue here.
This room ? Why? Offer it as a discount
Nobody is going to be happy with this or a house comp room.

Covid 19
You were closed for 3 months
I get it
But what about Covid Cleaning ? Obviously this water was never run
Nobody cleaned this room prior to me entering - I have a problem with this.

Great location
Over priced
2drinks , 2bottles of water and desert $90

Southern Charm and Hospitality

Southern Charm and Hospitality

We visited only for one night since we were just driving through. We had reservations at a different hotel however upon arrival we learned they could not accommodate us so they refunded our money and we looked to Belmod Charleston Place for a last minute reservation.

Our experience started with valet who found (actually made) a way to accommodate our truck and trailer (we were headed to our cabin). These must be the friendliest valet guys and it is so important since they are actually the first point of contact for the guest and after being tired from traveling, also the most important for efficiency and friendliness and these guys were fantastic. Then we moved to the check-in process which was also friendly and efficient.

Everyone was very friendly and seemed to look for opportunities to be helpful. Cannot overstate that.

The hotel is very charming with an upscale traditional southern decor, with maybe a French influence. I am not an expert on interior design but there are plenty of photos to give you an idea. There are some very nice small shops and boutiques located right in the lobby.

The rooms are well appointed. Great lighting (can be an issue in historical hotels). Robes and slippers. Current room service menus and channel guides (its the little things but you have to admit it is a bummer when it is absent or not current). A quaint Juliet balcony. I did wish for a nicer hair dryer (it was kind of cheesy but that is probably my only negative). Noted there is no coffee in the room (heads up!).

Room service was great albeit pricey. From the friendly person who took the order to the friendly person who delivered the food. My husband ordered a steak that was so large he could not finish it (that would be unusual for him, he is a very large man with a very healthy appetite).

The hotel is conveniently located downtown in the middle of everything.

We had a great experience and plan to return. We would recommend the hotel.

I attended a wedding rehearsal dinner at the Charleston grill located inside Belmond Charleston Place. The food was delicious and the service was awesome. The employees are very friendly and professional.

Fantastic experience working with the Belmond staff on a commercial. our crew were guests in the hotel as well. The hotel staff were gracious, accommodating and overall, just a well run ship!

Stayed on the 7th floor where they were still renovating, so it was loud. The matress was terrible, it felt like one of those cheap matresses in a budget hotel. I had to buy my own pillow during my stay because the pillows sucked. My head would sinked right into the matress because the pillows barely had cushion. Overall the entire bed set up felt cheap and uncomfortable. Bathroom fixtures were disgusting, as they were green mixed with some white coating in the crevices. It seems like the walls were thin due to the fact I could hear the occupants in neighboring room, hear every conversation they had, and I could also hear them eating. Also there was no microwave or refrigerator. One good thing about Belmond is they location. It is in a great location with great places shops and eat. Other than that I wouldn't stay here again.

We were married in Charleston and made reservations to stay here. When we arrived the staff found out our plans and upgraded us to the presidential suite. Absolutely amazing. The staff took phenomenal care of us during the entire stay. The hotel is gorgeous and located within walking distance to everything we needed. Thank you so much for making our wedding and honeymoon even more memorable.

I work for southwest airlines 20 + years and have stayed at many beautiful hotel but this hotel is the most memorable experience by far. There is so much about this hotel that is impressive but I must mention Daniel from Concierge desk who was so helpful to me & took the time to help me find just the perfect place for lunch as I am a big foodie person and enjoy one nice meal on the road. Even with me asking so many question he had such patients with helping me. I came back from lunch and exploring the beauty of downtown & wasn't able to personally thank him myself he left for the day.
Daniel your the best!!! I appreciate your kindness given.

Slept here for 2 weeks and had an amazing time, the rooms were great, I even got a little balcony. Team is very professional and quick, I went for a 20 minute walk and my room was ready by then.

AMAZING!!! We stayed club level (7th floor) for 2 nights and loved every minute of it. The complementary breakfast each morning was fresh and delicious. Also took advantage of the complementary drinks after 3pm each day. The room was perfect and location downtown was centrally located making it easy to walk to a lot of great bars and restaurants. Worth the money.

This is it! Staying here was a pure bliss. Very high end EVERYTHING, service, grounds, Spa (no extra cost), etc. Location is excellent. You get what you pay for. Charleston is a must to visit.

Meeting at Market is hands down the best sports pub in Charleston. Gorgeous amenities. Great staff and an excellent beer and wine selection. Most importantly the atmosphere is superb, relaxing, and comfortable.

Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful. Perfect location ...

Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful. Perfect location centered in all the hustle and bustle of downtown Charleston shopping. Service was impeccable at both hotel, brunch, and coffee stand. Speaking of coffee, it isn't included in your room. Nope. You have to go downstairs to a coffee stand (more like a miniature coffee shop inside of a closet), stand in line, and pay. Thankfully they accept room charge as I was not expecting this. And I personally prefer to acquire my coffee while in pajamas and wish unbrushed hair. Parking is not included either. Two things that should definitely be included with the price. Room was absolutely gorgeous. I could live in that bathroom. Well appointed with marble tile and rainfall shower. Had a view overlooking the courtyard, which was nice as well. Will have to try the spa during my next visit!

This was our second stay at the Belmond and I highly recommend it. In our opinion, it's the nicest hotel in Charleston and the location is central to everything. The staff is super friendly and it is located right across the street from the famous market. They upgraded us to a suite this time, which was gorgeous. We were celebrating our anniversary and they surprised us with champagne and cake in our suite. The Palmetto Cafe is one of their restaurants on site and it was great as well. We pampered ourselves in their spa and it was equally as marvelous. This hotel is top notch and we hope to return again one day. Thank you for making our stay so spectacular!
