Do yourself a favor and stay here. Great rooms, great service and you are in the middle of everything. We did have a small hiccup when we arrived but the manager Kevin took care of that and made our stay more than incredible. If the spa is your thing, you won't be disappointed. I recommend this place to anyone who wants the true charleston experience if money isn't an option. This was our second time here and we will be coming bask very soon with more people. I wouldn't stay anywhere else.

Very nice hotel, good service, a true 5 star hotel blends in with the landscape of Charleston. Prepare to pay $50 per hour if you want a late check out.
This hotel is beautiful. The location is great. Rooms are comfortable. Staff on site are friendly and helpful. Unfortunately, we had a negative experience involving broken items in our luggage while it was being transported to our car. I tried multiple times to contact someone in authority at the hotel and was given an endless run around with no resolution. I have finally given up on having our issue addressed. I would have given this hotel 5 stars had they at least returned my calls. Edit: I have been contacted by a senior member of management. While they have not yet resolved our issue; I believe they are working in good faith to do so.
I have been going to Belmond Place Charleston since I was a little girl. The place hasn't changed much and that's a good thing. They food for every flavir pallet and the shops provide most of what you may have forgotten. Anything else you can call down to the front desk for. Staff are very polite.
The Concierge saved Christmas!!! We arrived today and my mother wasn t feeling great so we changed our plans and the concierge was able to arrange a private tour around town and get us a table of 4 into Husk on Christmas Eve!!! I forgot the guys name, but he saved the day. I just wanted to let you all know.
My 2nd time visiting this hotel. Just like the first time, this stay was just as wonderful. The staff is very polite & professional and the rooms are exceptionally clean, which is why we chose it a 2nd time. Perfect walking location to everything. Traveling during COVID-19 hasn't been easy for most, but this hotel made me feel very safe staying there. Will definitely be back.
Wonderful hotel in the heart of Charleston. Conviently located right on King Street. Staff is beyond helpful, rooms are large and updated and there are great places to eat attached. Would definitely stay again.
When our original trip to Philadelphia s flight was canceled all 15 of us decided to pop down to Charleston for the weekend instead. We were able to reserve 8 rooms on short notice and were given excellent rates. Customer service and rooms are excellent. The room darkening curtains will definitely help you get a great night rest. Located in the heart of downtown Charleston and convenient to everything.
Great hotel. Great location. Rooms are beautifully appointed. The only thing they didn t have in the rooms was a coffee machine but there is a good coffee shop on the main level. Pool/spa was wonderful. The bars were great for a relaxing pre-dinner or after dinner cocktail. Staff was friendly and attentive. FYI: we parked in the garage inside the property and it wasn t until we left that I realized you pay for your parking - they don t charge it to your room so make sure you keep your parking ticket handy. Took me a while to find mine.
Amazing hotel!! The location is perfect in the heart of historic Charleston with shopping and dining just out the front door (and on the lobby level). The hotel and rooms are stunning! The amenities are also amazing and the service is impeccable. While we were there for our last visit, I noticed a small book in the room that highlighted all Belmond locations. I wasn't sure if I could take it so at check-out I asked the front desk if they had copies available to take. The staff wasn't sure which book I was referencing but I didn't want to be difficult so I told them I'd just browse the website (even though they tried to accommodate my request several times by getting me another key to the room to go get the book... We were in a hurry so I said nbd). Well, about a week later the book showed up at my home! The front desk staff took it upon themselves to accommodate me even after I had left the hotel. Absolutely amazing service - and for something so small but I am so glad I have it to look through! The spa was lovely. The Palmetto cafe was delicious! The house keeping including evening turn-down service was awesome. I cannot speak highly enough. Love this hotel!
We went in for a spa day and it was horrific. They were cutting tile the entire time we were in our massage and massive construction was taking place in the spa. The entire men's locker room was shut down due to construction and so my husband couldn't use the steam room or the sauna. We went there to relax and the opposite took place we listened to construction during our massage. There was zero hospitality. For a $500 day, it was not worth the money. The experience was horrible and I wish I had just gone to a Massage Envy. Never again will we go to the spa at the Belmond. We reached out to the staff to relay the feedback and they completely ignored it. The customer service is horrible. Tourists...spend your money at Francis Marion spa instead!
Very friendly staff and very clean rooms. However the HVAC unit is extremely outdated and very loud when it is cooling the room. Atmosphere is very welcoming and the restaurant is very nice but expensive.
Stayed here for a staycation. Amazing service, incredible staff. Must stop at rooftop bar around sunset. Beautiful views. Live music in the lounge downstairs at night. Everything is in walking distance. Pics of our Premier King Room
Great place to stay, love the Ambassador Suite. Also love the bar upstairs during happy hour and the Thoroughbred Club is great for catching a quick bite as well. Great location in walking distance to world class shopping and restaurants and all that Charleston has to offer!
Historic hotel located right in the heart of Charleston. The hotel features grand lobby and access to some.of the high end shops on King Street. The premier rooms are large and the bath rooms spacious. The hotel is alos within walking distance of many sites.
The Belmond Charleston place has incredible amenities, guest rooms, and meeting rooms. The staff are helpful and truly kind. Belmond offers true luxury to their guests.
Wonderful atmosphere great belstaff and really appreciate the work the belstaff does. Rooms are in very good shape and clean. The property is very clean and organized.
Wonderful hotel with great service and fantastic amenities. The room was beautiful, I only wish I could have stayed longer. My only complaint would be the prices but that's to be expected.
We love this place! Every year we celebrate our anniversary by staying on the club level here. The service and food are great! We ve gotten to know the staff over the years so it s always like a little reunion.
This place is no good and at $600 a night it's a rip off..
First, the room itself is out dated. Think the Ritz in the early 90's. The 'suite' was a fine size with living area and separate bedroom but the room with the bed didn't have a window or a real closet. The furniture is not in good condition and relatively uncomfortable.
Second, the toilet was leaking upon arrival. Don't get me wrong, things happen and I'm more than happy to tighten a valve or jiggle a handle to fix a toilet but this was water pouring out the top of the toilet. When someone came to fix it they left a mess, dirty footprints, and, honestly, it started the weekend off on a bad note.
Third, there was no hot water on arrival. We called downstairs where they assured us we would be contacted in no more than 4 minutes (they said four, I wasn't going to time them). An hour later with no update I called back and was connected with a different front desk manager so I explained the situation again. They sent someone, he left, still not hot water. It went on for a few hours all while they were checking if another room was available. The solution was to leave the shower and sink running for a solid few minutes before the shower would have warm water. Remember 600 bucks a night. No new room ever became available.
Finally, and by this time I'm just unhappy about my hotel selection, the room was over an outdoor patio where people smoked cigarettes day and night. Neat!
This all being said I would've left just one star. However, the staff was nice enough and I'm sure are doing their best under poor management.
If you're willing to spend a little bit more in Charleston on a place to stay this is it. A stunning lobby and fantastic staff. Rooms that look (and feel) like mini palaces and of course the expansive gym and outdoor salt infinity pool will make you want to stay in Charleston Place just a little bit longer.
Beautiful place beautiful rooms perfect location! Hope they decide to replace mattresses soon, I had to sleep on 6 pillows bc the mattress was all springs BUT for everything else the hotel offers and location I'd sleep on the pillows again. Still hope they get new mattresses before we visit again in August, lol
So convenient, located right in historic Charleston. Beautiful facility. Wins the best hotel shower award given the handheld and rain water heads can be on at the same time, enveloping you warm water. Comfy beds. Attentive staff.
