My first night they double booked my room and two people walked in while I was dressing. Second night in a different room I woke up with bed bug bites all over my body.

I would never stay here again. Musty unexceptable room. Treated poorly because we came in on amazon local deal. Over priced. Having stayed at many resorts including 2 the week following our stay here that we were very satasfied with and cost alot less, I would never recomend this place!
Save your money, this was a terrible experience! We requested a waterview room, we were first put in a room over the parking lot. Then I noticed toothpaste from a former occupant still all over the bathroom fixtures, the bathroom floor was nasty. We called to request a move and were initially told we would have to pay for an upgrade! Then they rethought their decision and moved us to another room with a beautiful water view. However, it too was filthy!! Floss pucks on the bedside table and bathroom floor, dust so thick you could write your name in it, sticky soda rings on a table, dirty bathroom again. We called and asked for a manager but the weekend front desk supervisor responded. She was nice and cleaned the room herself while we were at dinner, but she didn't seem to really care about our experience. We asked for an adjustment to our bill...nothing was done! Terrible customer service and a very dirty place. Not worth the views.
I only came here to have a few drinks with a friend who was a guest. The resort looks very nice, several pools, restaurants and bars. Great view of the Ravenelle Bridge.
Great place and just a quick drive over the Ravenel Bridge to downtown, plus there's plenty to see at Patriot's Point if you just feel like walking from the hotel.
Great spacious rooms, beautiful views and very clean but not a great over priced restaurant. Shame the front staff doesn t inform you of all the additional charges (it s the law). Don t be fooled that these are affordable rates. $109 was fine but when they tack on resort fee, destination fee (which are the same just different names to add even more charges) tax all of that then charge $12/day just to park on their property! They tell you this as you sign on the dotted line. So 2 nights at a hotel stating $109/night = $315. I ll take my chances next time
Beautiful place and surroundings. Amazing service and food.
Very interesting facts of history... just be sure to take your best walking shoes if you visit the USS Yorktown and the Laffey... also I might add, just being very honest: Do not expect to tour every floor of the Yorktown unless you are a fairly healthy, energetic, slim person.. Our son who is nearly 6ft tall(165 pounds, 32" waist), bumped his head a couple of times due to some really tight places, and very steep and narrow steps to go up & down. We all had to squeeze between some areas. At least a 4 hr tour is probably as quick as you can go. Longer if you want to consume the majority of the facts. Very interesting to see how they lived on board with all the facilities and provisions they needed. AMAZING!! When you finally reach the top deck you will find several planes still parked up there. I understand some official "big-wigs" have annual meetings, banquets etc up there. ENJOY.
P.S.. no air circulation inside the upper decks above the ground deck, until you reach outside the plane deck. Kinda stuffy. I had to wet a cloth and keep wiping my face, I got hot from climbing up and down stairs, non-stop walking.
Beautiful view and very nice room...I stayed a couple days and was interested in a 3rd night only to be told to come down to the front desk...once there,I was told it would be nothing like my original booking...the rate would go up exponentially so I would leave early. I overheard the same conversation going on next to me.... turning away happy customers to potentially get more money....not cute! This would have been a 5 rating.
Upon arrival we were told that we would have to check in at five. At five we were told we couldn t check in for another hour or more. We finally got checked in an hour and a half later. Each day our room was less clean then the day before. Our pillows were left off the bed, floor not swept, glasses of wine not cleaned out or removed. It seems that this resort is greatly understaffed and poorly managed. For the price I would recommend going somewhere else that treats its guests like they matter.
Beautiful setting! Great service! The food is excellent!
I was hurt and they made me comfortable by checking me in quick .. it meant a lot to me.. and now they have a loyal Tennessee fan !
The location and views of this hotel are 5/5. It s absolutely beautiful. The interior of the resort needs major improvement. The furniture is all a little dated but adds character, for 200.00+ a night plus resort fees and taxes I expected it to be a lot cleaner. The base boards were caked with dirt, lint and hair. Our shower, though tiled beautifully was cracked and had soap scum and places of mold as did most of the jets on the jacuzzi tub. The bathroom floor seemed to have been hardly cleaned as the towel we used to step out of the shower was brown underneath when we moved it. We had a 5 and 2 year old whose feet stayed black from how dirty the floor was. The closet door was broken... overall the place needs to be better taken care of. You are for sure paying for the views at this hotel. We did enjoy the little sand area and the pier... the Reel Bar down stairs had fantastic drinks and the bartender was friendly!
I know they had quite a bit of problems going on with things breaking and what not, every time we came through the lobby there was someone complaining about something with their room. One couple even said they went to their room after check in and someone was in it painting... overall we may stay here again if we can get a better nightly rate.
Our reservation got messed up by the hotel, and our two rooms were assigned in two separate buildings. We booked the rooms TOGETHER and they were under the SAME SURNAME, but the receptionist claimed it was because of our different first name (DUH!) that the reservation and rooms were in separate buildings - what nonsense! Very unapologetic about having ruined the entire point of family vacation and being close to each other.
This place itself was okay, but our room was really run down - there were huge rust spots over every single metal surface, door hinges, bathroom fixtures, etc. No accessible power plugs on the wall where the beds were, so no convenient gadget charging overnight. The mini fridge was pretty loud, so we ended up having to unplug it, in order to be able to sleep. Bicycles are not allowed to leave the property, despite there being a dedicated bicycle lane on the bridge.
Clean fancy place. With two freezing pools and one pool as warm as hot tub, seen 1 drink server in 3 hours by the pool and had to find her to cash out. Maybe due to off season. Reef bar out of pizza crust for two days. Not cool when that's more than half your menu. Maybe due to off season. Taco bed in room 1 changed with no problems to room 2. Great shuttle service for free and shuttle guy knowledgeable.
Clean rooms, hospitable staff, easy access to Charleston and surrounding area.
There is 2 separate accommodations at this resort- The Beach Club & Harborside. Although guests of Harborside have access to some Beach Club amenities, it is misleading when booking. VERY disappointed in price paid for room at Harborside-view was amazing but room, pool & grounds were in disrepair & unacceptable.
I can t even give one star! I booked a king room with Harbor view for my son and his wife for their honeymoon! The day they arrive they get an obstructed view room, they asked to be moved and got a room with no view. I called and spoke with a gentleman who said he would fix it the next day. So the next day they get moved two more times and still do not get a room with a view AND had to move all their luggage themselves each time!! I try not to complain but this was a gift for my son s honeymoon!!!!!!
1. Outside area/ Beautiful view, very good pools and resting zone.
2. Rooms/ We staid in 1bedroom with two beds room. The room is very small there. Coffee maker was inside the closet and every time when the water run out of the coffeemaker it poured into the wardrobe with our cloth. The floor was very dirty, no-one washes it. I asked to clean it and they wiped only bathroom. The rest of the floor stayed dirty. When my kid dropped a toy and I looked under the bed it was descusting dirty there with previous guests dirty socks. Bathroom is very small with very limited space to put your personal items.
3. Staff/ We asked to speak with a manager there because we needed a help. Carolyn Schneider even refused to talk to us by phone without mention to meet us. She just gave an instruction to the staff by phone that she'll not help. Such behavior is very rude and unfriendly.
You don't expect to get such service in an
expensive resort. Disappointed with this place. Definitely don't recommend. Only if you use new lobby or outside area for group performances.
The staff at this resort was rude and elementary. The pool was nothing short of a hot bath, hence it was not refreshing at all. The parking lot looked like an abandoned ghost town, but they claimed it was booked up and did not give us the room we requested. We had to plan our daily activities based on when the rooms got cleaned, which was not until 4:30 everyday. This caused chaos because our family couldn t clean up after a long day on the beach when we pleased.
had a reservation at the marina day before arrival marina manager cancel our
reservation very poor customer service.
I am actually still here at the resort, but my Mother and I have had such an awful experience that I am taking the time to write a review now in the middle of our vacation.
A list of our experiences thus far...
1. One roll of toilet paper. One. I am pregnant and we all know pregnant women pee a lot more - by 1:30 the next day, still no toilet paper. When I called downstairs, there was no urgency to bring us any so we just left the hotel for the afternoon.
2. No hand towels. At a 4-Star Resort?
3. The shuttle is NOT a free amenity. From speaking with other guests who have stayed here in the past, it USED to be a free amenity. Now it is $18. But do not count on this shuttle to be your transportation because it fills up and they will straight up leave you behind, which is what happened to us our very first attempt at using the shuttle. By the time they swing back around to pick you up and bring you to downtown, an hour has passed and you might as well call an Uber. Another time, there were 14+ people waiting downtown for the shuttle which was 35 minutes late, and when it showed up it was FULL with a private party that management made the driver take downtown in the middle of what was supposed to be their scheduled shuttle run. The driver had to drop people off downtown and swing back around to get us. Instead of an 8:15 pick up, it became 9 PM. And on top of it, not everyone could fit. There were families with small children needing to go to bed. Because other people had had experiences with the shuttle leaving them behind they showed up to wait beginning at 745 PM. So on vacation, they gave up an hour and fifteen minutes just to wait for the shuttle.
5. The customer service the front desk exhibits is sub-par at best. We did not experience an ounce of the Southern Hospitatility that is supposed to be so big in the South. Instead, we were met with unhelpful people who were short with us. From reading other reviews, it sounds as though the AC has been broken here in the past. My mom asked for a fan to help her sleep at night and the conversation with the front desk person went like this, my Mother: Do you have a fan that could be brought to our room? Front Desk Girl: No. Not no I apologize, not no but let me double check with housekeeping, just No.
6. The walls are quite thin in the Harbourside. Not once, not twice, but three times I had to call guest services about children running in the room above us, slamming doors in the hallway, running in the halls, etc. and obviously nothing was done about it because it continued the remainder of our stay here so far. They did not offer to move us. In fact, it is important to note that for the several times we have spoke with managers, front desk staff, and Nick Saltmarsh the GM, absolutely nothing was offered to us to better our stay, except for when the 14+ people all went to the manager upon returning from the very late shuttle and were told they will wave our $18 shuttle fee. (which is not advertised online so we were all under the impression it was free in the first place)
7. No continental breakfast at a 4-Star Resort. Enough said.
Now from speaking with other guests, they experienced similar inconveniences like the bathroom sliding door getting stuck and locking a child in the bathroom, no coffee in the morning downstairs, and the pool water being so extremely hot that their small children would not go into the pool.
Since we have had to take so many Uber s due to the unreliability of the shuttle, we have learned from locals that this resort primarily caters to the wealthy yacht club men as someone said and that many vacationers have a lot of complaints.
One staff member said there has been high turnover here recently. The MOST important thing I want to mention for the OWNERS to see is that this is clearly an upper management issue. It s clear your drivers, housekeepers, and front desk are doing their best with their hands tied behind their backs and everyone in the hotel industry knows these people are the lifeblood of your business. We will NEVER be back.
The outdoor concert was expensive but had a great location and exelent layout very enjoyable.
I enjoyed my stay, but the pictures were a little misleading. It would be nice to have bottled water in the room daily and music outside for people sitting out at night. It is conveniently located and I would go back again.
Very nice docks but lots of walking. We don't mind that though! Nice facilities, great restaurant, and cute boutique
Tv goes out with gentle rain. Slow service at the Tiki bar. Not a place for couples. More of corporate place. Won't be coming back.
A truly beautiful spot and an excellent evening celebrating family!
Beautiful resort!! We dropped in for one night on our way to a cruise. Had a great experience even if it was just passing through, the view from our room was amazing. And that was one of the most comfortable beds I'd ever slept in. And you're close to some local food spots and convenient shopping like target and Walmart
Lots to do see and eat. Tiki beach bar has AMAZING margaritas on the rocks!
The hotel was excellent and we got upgraded for free. Highly recommended this hotel!
Went to walk around, staff I ran into were very friendly and helpful. Location is beautiful and one of a kind.
The marina is really nice with great views of the harbor and the Yorktown. You can catch the water taxi here and save yourself some trouble trying to park downtown. Only downside is that they recently started charging for parking.
Not much to say about this place - it was nice, but the rooms felt old. The complimentary trolley, bike rentals, etc. were a very nice touch.
Check-in did not go well (20 minutes to find out room wasn't ready) but staff was very friendly. Room was a little small but very nice and bed was very comfortable. Shuttle service is available to the beach and downtown Charleston. Staff was great throughout our stay.
My family stay there for a night to try to find a nice place to stay for vacations, what a mistake. Was informed they were expanding, I requested to not be facing construction.. of course got a room facing the full blown construction waking up to noise and worker right outside the balcony 7am.. Not happy!!!!!!! Was told was the only room available. Bull! Was not worth $200 plus!!!!
Seriously no hot water for two days to shower or wash! This is supposed to be a 5 star resort!! I don t think so When we spoke with other guests on our floor apparently none of us had hot water, Yet management seemed surprised! However reading trip advisor reviews this is a common occurrence at this high-end resort with multiple extra add on fees. Also no room service! Big disappointment
Great location, cute rooms, but even with do not disturb sign we were interrupted twice
Enjoyed our stay here even though the weather was cold, rainy and windy. The hotel was very clean and the free parking, free wifi and free shuttle service to downtown Charleston were great. Staff was friendly and helpful. Wish there were microwaves in room and need a bigger closet for sure! Your best bet for breakfast is to take the shuttle into Charleston. They have a restaurant that serves breakfast but if youre there on a fri, sat or sun you dont have much choice besides the buffet which is $26/person. The amenities weren't really explained to us when we checked in and had to ask if we wantes to know something. There's no indoor pool, hot tub or sauna which would be nice if you go during the colder months like we did. All in all we had a great time though and would stay here again in the future.
Perfect location with truly spectacular views of Charleston. Very comfortable rooms and facilities are great. Pools are excellent.
Great place in a beautiful area with amazing views!
Great room with a magnificent view!!! Clean fresh and friendly I can't wait to stay there again!!!
Small rooms, great mini beach resort, very convenient location.
Amazing views and location. A great place to stay when coming to Charleston.
Nice clean room, excellent service, friendly atmosphere. Would definitely go back.
My husband and I came back to Charleston Harbor Resort and Marina to celebrate our 1st Anniversary. I was overjoyed when speaking with guest services, Charlene, whom is so lovely and was able to book us in the newest addition to the resort. In fact Charlene remembered our wedding last year!
From the moment we stepped foot into the hotel we were blown away. No stone has been left unturned, your resort is immaculate ! Such great attention to detail from your design team. Everything has been well thought out, even the fireplace that has been constructed from oyster shells.
If you are in search of a breathtaking destination for your wedding or just an amazing get away I strongly suggest Charleston Harbor Resort and Marina. Their entire event team and coordinator Ellen Harrington, really went above and beyond to create the day we had always dreamed of.
Thank you all for the wonderful memories.
The Farleys
Great place to visit. Very cool to see the boats and ships come in.
We were lucky to find such a cute and nice place this close to everything. Great place, great price.
After my experience at the Charleston Harbor Resort and Spa I would just like to mention that I do not know how this place has 4 star rating because it was definitely not a 4-star hotel. Their were no customer service agents anywhere. Was told there were two jacuzzis when one was clearly out of order which was at the hotel that was on the side I was on. So I got no customer service no jacuzzi on my side if I went to the other side I was told I wasn't allowed to order anything because I was on the wrong side of the hotel. Finally decided to go to the real bar which was quite possibly the most disgusting food. I paid $75 for food that I wouldn't feed to my dog. Ended up taking my family to the TGI Fridays down the road. So that my family could actually get some real food. Came back to my room to discover that the entire Hotel was covered in cockroaches that were at least three inches long and an inch wide. My child had to sleep on pillows on the floor because the room was supposed to have a pull out couch for my children to sleep on but didn't. And then they told me there wasn't anywhere else that we could be put. I pretty much don't have anything nice to say about this hotel except for the fact that the king bed that was supplied for me and my husband was a good and the pillows were nice. And that the large tub in the bathroom was nice but that's it. I'm sorry but that to me is not a 4-star hotel. there should been better customer service. Way better food and for way less than what we paid. And NO cockroaches!
Best place for the money. Overlooks historic sites. Seen them from our balcony.
Rooms were very nice and clean, room service was prompt, amenities were wonderful. Beautiful views, friendly staff. Perfect location
Absolutely loved this resort! beautiful scenery, clean, friendly people and excellent customer service. One thing that i would change about the rooms is the doors to the bathroom. there is a pretty good gap when the door is closed. I would suggest they look into maybe switching or adding something more private to the doors. Because if someone walks into the room you can see straight into the bathroom due to the crack in the door.
Cable out, AC out, bathroom pocket door stuck, view of the trash dumpsters, tiny room, poor lighting, and no return calls on our complaints. Way over priced to deal with this!!!
Love love LOVE this resort. Killer outdoor entertainment area with literally something for everyone!
Nice view, but I went when it was cold, big mistake. The bathroom in my room could use some deep cleaning, would not use the tub, shower only!
Very nice hotel, with lots of amenities and fantastic views.
Charleston Harbor Resort uses underhanded bait and switch tactics!!!
My wife and I were trying to plan a portion of our 10 year anniversary trip to be at the Charleston Harbor Resort and Marina. Their website was running a promotion for 20% off the booking price if you called and booked the reservation over the phone. I did and was offered 4 different options by a young lady in sales. After consulting with my wife we picked her option two a Deluxe King Room with Harbor View, balcony, and a Jetted Tub. After calling back to reserve the room I was instructed that things like a harbor view and the balcony were subject to change. At which point I asked if they couldn't guarantee those things "What made them different than the other rooms that were cheaper?" at that point I was put on hold to deal with a manager and 1:30 min. later the General Manager Mr. Herrmann was now in charge of the booking. At this time he decided to call into question my ethics as he too was trying to sell me a bill of goods that was different than the price I could see on laptop "WHILE I AM ON THE PHONE WITH THE MAN" I offered Mr. Herrmann the chance to make the situation right by emailing him a screen shot of the pricing I could see while we were on the phone. He then.....and this is the real icing on the cake.....asks me to PROVE when the screen shot was taken BECAUSE HE DOUBTED ITS VALIDITY. Being called a liar by the management of a hotel has got to be the worst business move I have ever seen in my life. Being a business owner myself I know if any of my employees treated any of our customers with the disrespect that I was treated with, it would be grounds for immediate termination and somehow at this hotel they let that insubordinate employee run the place. GOOD LUCK WITH YOUR STAY AT CHARLESTON HARBOR RESORT AND MARINA.
Great prices. Room was extremely clean with an amazing view.
We stay at the Charleston Harbor Resort and Marina every time we go to Charleston. We can depend on the extremely helpful, respectful, caring staff, and a wonderful breakfast every morning. The rooms are clean, and there are a lot of extras for the price. I love the view, comfy chairs and robes. It is in walking distance to golf and restaurants. There is a nice pier you can walk on and we saw manatees one time and dolphin another time. They have a nice pool, not huge but there is so much to do in Charleston who wants to hang out at the pool all day. They include fun activities or you can rent one of their bikes for free and cruise the area. Again, the staff are incredible and we will continue to visit Charleston and stay at the Charleston Harbor Resort and Marina.
Decent hotel, but wish you were allowed to swim at the beach. Small rooms but quaint. Resort fee should include parking!
