Great place, beautiful scenery. Restaurants on premise. Also a great view. Two huge pools and a giant hot tub. Also Cabanas and nice bar. Fire pits included as well. Great experience. Nicest hotel I have ever been to. The kids also loved it.

Currently staying here. Paid extra for room with Hot tub it s literally a small bathtub that barley fits one person that has a few jets..also cause I paid extra for the hot tub room we are in one of the few rooms without a balcony..even though they said all rooms have balconies. The bed is falling apart and makes noise with any movement. The bathroom tile looks likes it s never been cleaned and they use two top sheets for the bed so it keeps coming off leaving you touching the mattress in the night. Also, we had to buy new pillows at the store cause the ones in the room had mysterious stains . It feels like a cheap roadside hotel. Not a resort hotel. Find a Days Inn and stay there cause this place is not even close to worth the money.
..I just checked out and had over 100 dollars in extra charges that weren t mentioned at check in.
Very nice resort and well maintained. Excellent location with incredible views of the harbor, water, downtown, aircraft carrier and bridge. I loved the pools and hot tub. Great amenities including water taxi into downtown, complimentary bikes for on property, poolside bar, great pool/sun deck, fire pits, sand yard to play/relax/sunbathe and access to multiple boardwalks. Our room had a wonderful view of it all from inside and on the balcony. I enjoyed watching the cruise ship leave port.
We had a person in a wheelchair in our group and although we requested a handicap accessible room, one was not reserved for us. They only offered a room with one king size bed for 4 people. After asking for the manager we were told we could have a room with 2 beds but not handicap, or a room with a step in shower, and 2 beds no handicap rails for $60 upgrade. We had traveled all day from Boston to Charleston and my friend was fatigued. We didn t want to try to find another hotel. Not to mention we bundled to save money and would lose the savings. I said I wanted the room and they had just sold it ugh! The upgraded again but again it wasn t handicap accessible so I had to bring my friend to the handicap stall in the lobby because her chair did not fit into bathroom! I had booked the first day of our week long girls vacation in Charleston as a special treat for my other friend s birthday. Every where we went, I called ahead or wrote special comments to accommodate our friend with ALS. Not only were they poorly educated as to what ADA requires, they were insensitive to our needs. Charging us for their ineptitude was the cherry on the cake!
Horrible, Horrible, Horrible! Our first room was the size of a closet and was infested with ants. I put my food down on the little desk and in no time ants were all over it. After two nights, we were upgraded to a much bigger room, however, it was obvious the room still need updating. Also, we were charged $30 a day for the upgraded room! We thought it was a single charge of $30 to change rooms. The resort only had one overpriced restaurant with very limited options. Later in the week, I found out the Tiki Bar and the Reel Bar served food. For some strange reason, when I asked the front desk about food on site, they never mentioned the bars served food. There was no room service. The little shop by the front desk was useless. They didn't even supply bags of chips. There are tons of hidden resort fees: destination fee, resort fee, parking fee. The touring of the carrier ship and submarine and not included with your stay. The pool on the Harborside is just sad. The tiki bars on this side were all closed. So, you had to walk over to the Beachside of the resort to enjoy a nice pool and drinks. The only good thing about the resort is the location. Both rooms had an amazing view, and we were able to see the city skyline and all kinds of ships coming into port. THIS IS THE ONLY GOOD THING ABOUT THIS PLACE. Everything else was horrible: food, service, price, rooms. The resort definitely catered to the Beachside, which with the prices they are charging, the entire resort should have been impeccable. I would not recommend staying here if you are seeking a place providing 5 star service and luxury. This is not the place!
VERY DIRTY YUCKY HOTEL AND MANAGEMENT DOES NOT CARE ABOUT REPEAT BUSINESS. IN FACT, WE WERE TOLD ALL THEY COULD DO WAS REFUND THE RESORT FEE AFTER WE TOLD THEM ABOUT THE HORRIBLE CONDITION OF OUR ROOM.
DO NOT STAY AT THIS MOTEL UNLESS YOU WANT TO PAY LUXURY HOTEL PRICES FOR A THIRD WORLD FEELING ACCOMMODATIONS.
EDIT: Spoke to the management about the filthy room the next morning. Spoke with Elaine Gokey, the supposed manager. She could not have cared less and feigned concern about the nastiness of the room. She credited the resort fee only (mind you there are no resort amenities except a pool!!) and said she could do nothing more. She was not forthcoming when I asked about whether there had been changes in management. If the are cutting back on water, valet, bellman, washcloths and cleanliness you can bet there is some financial problems there. Her attitude was screw you, we have your money when I complained about the filth. Mind you the next morning, we saw dusty hair balls floating around the bathroom. Personal hairs on one of the beds, many of them, that certainly did not belong to us. Made me want to vomit. I will never in a million years ever stay there again and am disputing the charges with my credit card company. Ms. Gokey does not know or care how to manage that hotel. We are staying here tonight. We stayed here once before last September. I asked if ownership or management changed but they claim not. Hmmm. However, there is a HUGE difference from the last time we stayed here. Before it felt like a resort. Now it feels like an expensive Hampton Inn. Last fall, it was clean, there was bottled water, they provided washcloths, there was valet service, bikes for use and bell service. None of that appears to be available now. They brought us two bottles of water and washcloths after we asked. We even had to ask for a plastic bag for the ice bucket. They also no longer provide plastic laundry bags for dirty clothes. They also no longer provide room service. On top of all of that, the rooms are gross and dirty. We had to ask to change rooms. Found a personal hair on the floor in the first room and stains in the bathroom rug. Security latch was broken. The next room was somewhat better, but still dirty. Someone s hair all over shower. My skin is crawling thinking about it. We were excited about staying here again, but it will be the last time. This place needs a serious scrubbing and renovations. It s looking beat up. So sad, because it used to be so much better less than a year ago.
The property is great. We went for one night and really enjoyed the pools at the beach club. Facility is very convenient. I'm giving 5 stars for this but also because of the people and specifically Anita in guest relations. I left a business notebook behind and I needed some items asap. Long story short, she went above and beyond to scan some items for me i needed asap and get them to me since there would be a fee days while it ships. Good people make the difference.
Totally agree with Sarah Martin. I was in the OLD building. Asked about the in room safe, except there was not one in the room. Front desk said it was removed for repair. Total BS as there were no holes in the wall to mount it. No clock of any kind in the room. Front desk said previous renter had asked for it to be removed. Now who asks for a clock to be removed?? On the plus side, view is awesome. Try the Fish House Bridge Bar and see the the aircraft carrier, destroyer and Revenal bridge at sunset.
They overbooked their hotel and refused to accommodate my family in the correct room that I reserved even after I showed them my reservation confirmation. Very disappointed.
My family and I had a great stay while in Mt. Pleasant. The resort is beautiful and centrally located for restaurants and downtown Charleston. The rooms were beautiful and recently renovated on the beach side. Housekeeping was okay and needed prompting twice late in the day for room cleaning. My review would have been a 5; however, the resort does not have reasonable breakfast options. The adjacent restaurant is obscenely expensive for breakfast and not a good option for families. One recommendation is to provide a continental style breakfast, which would make this resort a five star resort.
The room were nasty. There is mold all over the showers. At night cockroaches are everywhere in the room and bathroom. My sister dropped incecream on the sheets and we ask house keeping to changes the sheets after they clean the room. When we came to our that night, the bed was made withe stained of icecream. Really disappointed. Choose this "resort" that is 2 hours away from my brothers Army Graduation thinking it would actually be a resort.
It was nice, the Real Bar is a cool bar. With some good drinks. The Tiki Bar is pretty cool too, with some delicious food and the prices weren't terrible. All around a good experience and I'd recommend it.
This was our first visit to the marina. We were actually there to work on it customers boat and though the marina, restaurant, and facilities are very well maintained and beautiful!
I hope those who read these reviews of the Charleston Harbor Resort and Marina realize that just because of human nature, you're going to get a preponderance of comments from people who had a bad experience. That bad experience may have been years ago, and it may have been something unusual. The people who liked it generally don't say anything.
We've stayed at Charleston Harbor Resort and Marina several times, and each time it was delightful. The room and public spaces were clean, the grounds, hot tub and pool were clean, and best of all we found the people at the front desk helpful to a fault. Downstairs is a breakfast restaurant and a bar/cafe, which we've not used, but they look nice. It is walking distance to the aircraft carrier museum, and across the parking lot is a marvelous restaurant. And if you want to go farther, they run a free trolley right into downtown Charleston, saving you a lot in parking. My wife had one of her major birthdays while we were there one year, and when I mentioned it in passing to someone at the front desk, we found a little treat in our room with a birthday greeting when we got in later.
When I read these comments that seem to have made it to the top of the reviews list, it sounds like a different place from where we stayed. Take these negative reviews with a bit of skepticism. We recommend the Charleston Harbor Resort.
DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY HERE!! We reserved a room for before our cruise and none of the outside bars and restaurants were open. They didn't have fresh coffee or water in the containers in the lobby. The website states they provide transportation to and from the airport and the cruise port sure enough they sure dont. We were crazy enough to keep our reservation for the day we came back from the cruise. Still nothing open. Suppose to have shuttle down town at 5 we had reservation and still mo shuttle at 5:40. For the price you pay for this resort their services do not add up. Dont waste your money staying here.
Rude lady at front desk blonde haired woman. Asked me "why are you staying here if you live in moncks corner?". Um because i want to . What are you doing? Oh yeah working at the place everyday on foot and not being able to enjoy the luxury of your profession. Do less questioning and more customer qualified service. Not racial profiling.!!!
The tv was so bad picture was almost unwatchable. Soap dispensers in shower were clogged and wouldn't work 50 dollar deposit taken on card for a prepaid room for no reason told it would be ten days before refunded. No valet available any time I was coming or going.
First the positives, the staff was friendly and helpful. I give staff 4.5 stars. The restaurants and bar were ok, food being average for hotel food. Bar was fun but that was because we were there as a group. The room was average at best, but if you are there for work, the desk area very small and amenities for plug-ins lacking.
Great hotel. Very nice facilities and the view is amazing. The USS Yorktown is right outside the hotel and can be seen from the balcony. Excellent stay.
As a professional wedding vendor in and around the Charleston area, it's always nice and refreshing to go to a wedding venue and work with such a professional staff. Kaitlyn and her staff at the resort were very helpful in coordination and planning of a recent wedding of mine. They were extremely flexible as well. The Charleston Harbor Resort & Marina is actually a bit of a tropical paradise just across the river from downtown in Mt Pleasant. If you are seeking a beautiful place with a beautiful staff with an amazing backdrop of Charleston, call Kaitlyn today.
Had a lovely time here. Came for a Christmas party and decided to stay for the night. The room was very nice and quiet. Decor is simple yet nice very Beach chic. The amenities are quite good. I've also come for music nights where they have love bands. It's a great time. And reasonably priced as well.
I enjoyed my stay. The view of the harbor is gorgeous. The resort is very nice. The room, large windows, and general atmosphere made for a nice tranquil stay. The only negative was the lobby men's restroom, which there are working to correct.
Great location and friendly staff, but this place feels like it needs a serious rejuvenation. If you care for service, details, or amenities, you'll be disappointed. While rooms have great views, they have tons of "miles" on them: rough edges, broken light fixtures, and overall poor quality. Walking the property, it seems like something is always being worked on. Upon arrival, plan ahead for meals because there isn't room service and most areas close early. Pic is of our bathroom access panel on Jacuzzi that "Engineering" fixed by removing the tape. The hotel didn't offer, nor did we ask for any assistance/compensation, but it seems they should've done something.
A very nice hotel in a very nice location near the water. In the immediate vicinity is a ferry dock. From there you can take the ferry to Charleston Downtown. The hotel also has a pool. The rooms are very nicely decorated. Very comfortable and recommended.
We had a memorable stay. One evening we sat outside around the firepit and watched the sunset over the water with the Charleston skyline as a backdrop. Beautiful and relaxing
Buyer beware: there are two sections of this hotel...one that is nice and new, and one that is dated and musty. Although the pictures look great, this is a far cry from a four star hotel. My suite was musty, cramped, and dated. The mini fridge has been rolled in, and I couldn't seem to find a free plug anywhere. Basically, it seems like they've taken a La Quinta, thrown in some designer fabrics, and hoped to fool someone. Yes, it overlooks the harbor. But so do many area hotels. There is also a "hotel fee" which covers a (commonly free) fitness center, "fresh" coffee, and pool use. Considering that I was here on business for one night, I didn't care about or use any of these things.
Don't waste your dollars. Book elsewhere. I sure wish I had.
Wish I could give this horrible place less then one star. The staff has no costumer service and would not solve any of the problems that we faced. And to call this place a resort is ridiculous, it's possible the 25 years ago it might have reassembled a resort.
Very mismanaged resort. Several broken items in the room, bathroom doors wouldn t close, hot water went out, bathroom dirty at arrival. The Reel Bar ceiling is covered in mold and the food takes forever. Overall we had a pretty poor experience. The wedding we went to there was perfect though but I m pretty sure it was because they used their own vendors and the property had nothing to do with it.
Wowowow! The rooms are clean and have lots of space for suitcases. Mini fridge, flat screen TV with a sanitized remote, partially open shower stall, and a beautiful pool and harbor view from the balcony. The pool is a comfortable temperature and everyone is respectful of social distancing rules. Poolside drink servers are kind and lovely for conversations. Definitely would choose the resort again!
Staff was amazing. Amenities are fun. Beautiful view. Room was small and a bit dated and shabby as is the entire property but comfortable. Be aware, whatever the room rate is, add 60 to 70 bucks for taxes and fees. That was a sticker shock! But would go again.
Don't just drop in here, STAY HERE. And while you're at it, drop by the pool bar and ask for Geoffrey from New Jersey. He truly made our day a delight. Not only is Geoffrey great for a good pour, he's polite; and with a sense of humor. Five stars, y'all! Great experience.
