I would recommend. When visiting Geneva, it is worth coming to Cern. The Macrocosm exhibition must be seen.

Need 3days in advance notice for a guided tour, and it's booked solid for months so register way in advance.

They have a small exhibit for anyone who shows up without a reservation. It is very informative but less than an hour long. there's also a small gift shop.

Cern is always advancing in the technology, so any article you read about it will already be outdated by the time you read it. If you are in the area and like science, DO NOT MISS THIS. Free parking I think.

A unique, fantastic place where the highest level of a great part of foundamental physics, and an exemplar and exciting powerful international collaborations join together every day. Being there, having the opportunity to take a tour of the LHCb, was one of the most wonderful day of my Life!!!.

Nice exhibition and tour. The tour is free and lasts two hours, if you are interested in physics as a layman it is definitely worth it. During our visit, the particle accelerator was unfortunately active and we could not see the accelerator and the detector (ATLAS) itself.

If you're at all interested in physics you have to check this out. You can't visit the accelerator itself when it's operational but even the above ground stuff is fascinating. Apply for the tours ahead of time, although we visited on the day and luckily got on a waiting list

I find it hard to believe how many bad reviews this institution gets and how unimportant people think.

Science is important and it would be better to invest the money in this facility than in the latest high-tech tank, which does not help anyone anyway.

The trip was amazing. Everybody who likes science, technology, chemistry etc. will enjoy it. You can get know so many interesting things. They are doing amazing job and it's pleasure to hear about their job and success. I regret that we can't visit the lhc directly.

CERN has done a lot for humanity. Without them they could not even comment on this. Internet comes from here and most of the most important physical discoveries too. They have already operated the LHC years ago and they said the same thing, that the world was going to end and nothing happened. There is a guided tour. It was the most awaited one of my Swiss schedules. It is difficult to see without a guided tour, and guided tours are conducted in English. It may be difficult because the unfamiliar content is delivered in English, but if you are interested, I recommend you go.

Really well presented audio digital museum exhibition explained in a comprehensible way to everyone willing to understand the origins of the Universe.
You can make acquaintance with the new particle , the boson of Higgs, discovered on July 4th,2012 by the scientists of the CERN collider.

Worth the visit !

Best Particle Accelerators I've ever seen. 5 stars, very cool CERN, very cool. Google just tried correct the word CERN to CORN.

Definitely worth a trip. The tours are carried out by really committed scientists, with whom you can get rid of all questions. Our guides have been working there for almost 40 years. You should plan at least five hours for the exhibitions and the tour.

This is probably one of the coolest things to do in Geneva, and a lot of people miss it. We went without booking a tour, but they had one spot open, so my friend (a physics buff) went and I did the exhibitions. I expected to have to find something else to do during her 2 hour tour, but the exhibitions took up nearly that time. If you have to pick one, go with Particles of the Universe. Microcosms explains the large hydrogen collider. Both give extensive information, but are understandable even if you have a lesser knowledge of physics (like me).

When I came to this temp agency I wasn't sure how my future would turn out and I have to say that Sheila from the front desk helped land me that custodian job at the library...THANKS CERN!!!!

The LHC scientific program includes six experiments. The two largest experiments are ATLAS [14] (A Toroidal LHC ApparatuS) and CMS [15] (Compact Muon Solenoid) which are huge and advanced technology detectors made by international collaborations involving over 2,000 physicists. The LHCb experiment is instead designed to study the physics of B mesons, while ALICE [16] is optimized for the study of heavy ion collisions. The two smaller detectors are TOTEM [17] and LHCf [18], specialized to study the collisions that produce particles at a small angle with respect to the direction of the beams.

The first beam of protons circulated in the accelerator on 10 September 2008 in the morning. [19] The particles were fired in the accelerator clockwise at 10:28 local time [20] and a beam of protons was fired counterclockwise at 2.59 pm later.

The first "modest" 900 GeV high-energy collisions would have taken place in the first days of the week of September 22, 2008. Starting from October 12, 2008, before the official inauguration (October 21, 2008), the LHC would already have had to operate at an energy of 1 TeV [21] and in 2009 it should have reached the energy of 7 TeV. However, the times were rather extended, since on September 19, 2008 a fault occurred, which kept the accelerator stopped for several months.

Probably the greatest experience in my life. I believe that everybody who is interested in physics or mechanics should visit this place at least once in his/ her life.

CERN, a magical exhibition about the universe and particle physics. Admission is free and is outside Geneva. Bus 18 ends the tour at this stop and leaves you at the door. The visit is very interesting.

Incredible place, filled with incredible people, doing incredible things. I was lucky to spend three days at CERN on a schools visit, seeing the exhibition at the visitor centre, attending talks from various researchers and visiting many of the facilities - ATLAS, LHCb, LEIR and LINAC - and was very fortunate to be able to go underground to see the CMS experiment.

If you have the opportunity to visit, you should take it. CERN is a truly awesome experience.

Fascinating place where physicists study the building blocks of matter. One of the most important discovery took place at CERN: The Higgs boson.
If you have the opportunity to visit the different experiments, take it! People at CERN not only study fundamental physics but also invent a lot of new things, among them is something I'm using to write this review: The web.
