I don't want to believe a faith based program is discriminatory, but I kind of felt like it. Very small, with limited space and I felt like they only accommodate women who are fleeing domestic violence. Everyone's reason for homelessness is not domestic violence. I had my husband and three children and we had to sleep in our car. They really don't have any help or resources for homeless men, men become homeless as well. Just a thought, they need to be a little more open minded with individuals circumstances. Everyone's situation is unique and I think that should be taken into acccount. On top of that they are really the only shelter that services Kenosha County. Really hope they try to expand, and have a more open mind when it comes to people's circumstances and situations. I really think they didn't help me because I had a husband.
I was a client and a very Blessed one the staff was awesome and I really got a lot out of the time my Family was there. We are in need of shelter and I don't think there's any other place that we would feel comfortable.
I'm going to go ahead and give it a five star rating. They could use some either new employees or more training. For the amount of money that me and others give them, hanging the phone up on people twice isn't part of the job descriptions. Did I say twice? Three times that happened. The cook Kenya hung up the phone once too. Some anger issues I guess.
They don't really care, this is run as a business and not charity and just a number
WHAT KIND OF CITY SETS UP A SHELTER PROGRAM AND REFUSES TO ACCEPT EMERGENCY WOMEN AND CHILDREN ON A BELOW FREEZING NIGHT! How horrible. Not only doesnt this place take women children in on an emergency when it is below freezing but there is no place in Kenosha county set up for it! My children and I were forced to sleep in our car without heat and eventually we were shuffled to Lake county! This wont be the last this county or place hears from me. AGAIN What kind of city sets up a homeless shelter and not take in women and children ON A BELOW FREEZING NIGHT...ON ANY NIGHT FOR THAT MATTER?
It's very obviouss they simply don't care for homeless people! Why should a desperate destitute person living on a street with no food or water have to wait 3 days before someone takes action!
S
I'm residing here temporarily. Awesome staff! They've helped me beyond my wildest dreams!
Some of the staff is disrespectful. There is this you're homeless so I am better than you mentality going on over there. You feel like you're walking on eggshells the whole time you're there. It's just a place to stay don't expect any help getting your life back on track.
A safe place but very limited on space and discriminatorily selective on who they allow in.
Homeless Shelter, it is a well run facility for getting back on track.
These folks are dedicated to doing good work! Amazing staff.
At this time every town in the USA needs a place like this they are very carrying and try their best to help needed Family's. I was Blessed moving out here in Kenosha from Chicago Heights Illinois.
They will help you however they can. You will be provided with all you need to get back on your feet.
Great shelter. If you need a place and can get in do so. Staff is helpful if you want help. Good place to get back on your feet. Good volunteer opportunities too.
Love the staff great.people. Wish it was in the poorer part of town.
An absolutely wonderful organization that does great things for our community and the surrounding areas! Excellent team headed up by an amazing leader in Mrs Biese! Donate! Donate! Donate! It's a great cause that directly helps people survive.
Online it says it is open 8-4. When I went there, they told me they were not open.
Very helpful. Don't ask questions or judge. Can get a place to stay, food if hungry or clothing if needed. They also have a counselor named Jaimie who volunteers. So if u need someone to talk to she's there to listen and talk to you. She doesn't just tell u want you should or shouldn't do.
