This is one of very few trails in Dallas with a feel of hilly view. We did 2 miles round trail to the pond and it was amazing.
We love visiting cedar ridge and hiking the trails. It is beautifully maintained, lots of different trails that interconnect so you can tailor your hike to the difficulty/length you want, and everyone is really friendly. Lots of people hiking with their families and pooches, and it also is very safe for solo hikers as well. In the spring they have loads of wildflowers for all your family photo needs, and lots of vistas and overlooks to enjoy the scenery. There's also a pond with fish, turtles and frogs. Bring your lunch and picnic, spend the day or just an hour. Definitely worth the trip - you're basically utilizing the Cedar Hill State Park area without paying the fee. Only downside is sometimes parking can be a challenge, but that's minor in my book.
Well maintained, surprise hiking in Dallas County! Loved the unspoiled feel.
Very pretty place. I remember coming here when I was a little girl. Loved all the flowers.
This trail offers my favorite hiking near Dallas. The Escarpment and Cedar Brake trails offer challenging hikes with plenty of elevation changes.
Great place to take your family for a walk or for the runner's who are loking for something different.
Love this place. Great trails and not a lot of trash like some hiking trails. Pet friendly. Water fountain and rest rooms.
Gorgeous parks. Short trails all under 3 miles each but well marked with decent elevation. Dirt, roots, wood chipped and boardwalk. Water crossings all have bridges. You can put trails together to make longer distances. Waster station for people and dogs. Nice restrooms. Benches and lookouts. Picnic tables. Donation only entry fee.
Because of the weather and the world to me or something else for the love of glorious trails in Cedar Ridge I love the way the trails are trails on fire with me like the place is the most beautiful thing ever like Oh my gosh I am going to cry if I ever get to go to Cedar Ridge I love it so much for the invite but I'm in love with the high hills are amazing in the world like what in the world it is unbelievable how much it's impossible that I have to go back to see the valley of the same place as last time I was there for a long time just once we get together to see everything...
Very nice place lots of friendly people. Restrooms and water and a nice area to rest
Nice trails. Busy but not so much that it hinders your purpose. Beautiful overlook and pond.
Trails for a variety of ages, endurances, and abilities.
Amazing little spot not far from Dallas. Bring more water than you think you need!
Awesome place to hike and get a great work out. Its not the hardest place to walk but it definitely will get your heart rate up. Its way more challenging than walking on a concrete trail. Ensure to bring shoe you that have grip and you don't mind getting dusty. If you have trouble climbing stairs this is not for you. You will go uphill as much as going downhill.
I love this place! Everyone here is nice and smiling. Good place to come to to clear your mind, workout, walk with friends, even to take pictures! If you enjoy nature, this is a must see place!
The trails are very challenging. The scenic views are very nice as well.
Good place for hiking and biking. Although it was a little crowded last time we were there.
Get there early cause parking can get crazy but its totally worth it.
Beautiful scenery and a variety of trails and terrains. Well-maintained trails and consistent mile-markers and maps. Would recommend looking at the trail profiles before setting out, especially if you have someone with you who isn't in great shape. Will definitely visit again!
Really muddy after the rain yesterday but good, short hiking trails.
Love it; great place for photo shoots, walking, running, relaxing and there is no charge
Wonderful outdoor experience with extensive well maintained hiking trails.
If you re not familiar with this gem, you ve been missing out on what Dallas has to offer. Don t forget your water, sunscreen and bug spray.
Really cool place u burn alot of body fat in a few hrs
Loved the trails and variety of terrain. Parking was very tight on the weekend. Didn't enjoy people blaring music from speakers on the trails. Did enjoy shaking down some gear on the trails. Really nice nature sections. My next visit will most likely be on a weekday.
This is the best place to hike in the city. It's hard to believe this much nature is found within the city limits.
The state park is beautiful, has nice trails and campsites. The lake water smells iffy
Great trails for everyone! This place is well-kept, clean and everybody you run into is friendly. This is my favorite spot in DFW if anyone knows someplace better please let me know.
Got a good sweat..fell a few times..took some good pics
Awesome trails for running and hiking. There are enough people there to feel safe but not too many. My children like to hangout at the pond to watch the turtles and that single blue Heron. We also enjoy the butterfly garden. The canopy of the trees provide a source of shade in the summer and keeps the sun out of your eyes while running. We have a lot of coyotes around the neighborhood but I've never seen any at the preserve. Be sure to stay on the trails and do not venture into the grass. Once, my son, began walking in the grassy area and a rattle snake immediately put him back on the trail!! CRP is "closed" on Monday's. However, this just means the gate is closed because people park out front on the grass, then hop/crawl under the gate to get in. Lol. I've seen many old and young show up on Monday to enjoy a very scenic CRP.
Whether you're a bird watcher, hiker, botanist, or a parent looking to get your kids out of the house, Cedar Ridge Preserve will give you what you need. The Preserve began with only twenty-six acres of land, but now boasts 600 acres of natural habitat with nine miles of trails that trek through the shades of native Texan trees.
A mere 20-30 minutes' drive from downtown Dallas, the Preserve is worth a half-day visit. Just make sure to come early in the morning before the heat and temperature rise. FYI, well-kept bathrooms are available at the trail heads, so don't hesitate to bring plenty of water to stay hydrated.
Best place to lose weight without trying love hiking at Cedar Ridge Preserve.
Great place to come with your family and pets. They have several different trails to choose from. Make sure to bring plenty of water to drink.
Great trails, scenery. Bathroom ample & clean. Trails of various ability levels. Several people were running / jogging. Benches.
Beautiful, absolutely beautiful. The view at the very top during a sunset, breathtaking.
Love the opportunity to be on such a nice set of trails with plenty of elevation change.
It's so pretty and very nature filled I've only been there a few times and loved it each time
Really great hiking trails! All the trails are clearly marked and are well maintained
Great workout but make sure your mentally prepared for the hike back up the trail! But overall a good first time experience
Gorgeous views, cool trails, and very popular! We went on a gorgeous day around Spring Break, and there were a ton of people soaking up the sun. Lots of hills (read: challenging hike)! There's a pond and outlook stands to see the lake and rolling terrain. Splendid afternoon. Also, I love that there are well maintained restrooms near the entrance!!!
My girlfriend almost killed me here, she was like a drill sergeant. I only kept running out of fear, not motivation. Very nice trails btw.
Awesome first time, cool seeing some bees at the top!
Love this place. I take my dog and she loves it even more. Last time I went I twisted my ankle (I need to wear better shoes!) Some of the trails are too much for me - so I do what I can and keep going back. I will probably see you there unless you go in the summer (too hot).
Beautiful place to hike. One of the best places near Dallas area. Moderate hike. Kids 7&11 had great time.
Love how maintained this place is. Great views! Only downside is that it's too popular. Get there at 6:30 am on Saturday and there's already a line.
Loved it! Took my 5&2 yr old and they had a blast. Some parts were steep and Rocky but overall trails were amazing!!!
Great place for hiking and running. Some of the trails are more advanced so make sure you have a walking stick and some water. Great views and dog friendly
Great to be exercise because they are like mountains where nothing else you walk and sweat like never, I recommend them is like walking inside the forest.
I highly recommend this place if you're in the neighborhood. Good variety of trails of various difficulty. Dogs on leash.
Lovely place, but too dry for this time of year (May); it's much more enjoyable during Spring.
The Reserve is not that big, pretty flat, and at most 9 miles if you do every trail but it is very tame and a good way to spend 3 hours of your weekend
Really good place to Jog, or go Walking & enjoy the scenery.
Trails Through Wooded Areas, Up Hill, Down Hill, Zig zags, Leg Work out 100%. Little creeks and Ponds, Birds & Animals. Very Nature Like.
4 stars because i jogged the Duck brake trail not sure if thats the name but yeah Signs need to Be More Detailed! Once i finished the trail i didnt know which way The Exit was? Felt Lost for a Few minutes untill A stranger passed by and i asked her and she said that way >.
But yeah Dont wanna be Lost Specially when Ur Really Exhausted lol Make signs Bigger & More detailed. Then i will give this a 5 star.
If you plan to go with your dog be sure to throw away what your dog does.
Not recommended to go with children in extremely hot weather
Excellent trails and decent parking space. Went right before dark and still had ample time to explore. Highly recommended and I will be back again.
Good for exercise, hiking, and medium climbing. Probably not good idea to bring strollers or bikes. Took kids and they loved it. We were covered in light door from running so much :)
So quiet and peaceful. It has nice hiking trails with lots of beautiful scenery.
Well maintained trails and tons of recreational enthusiasts.
A must for hikers! Best consistent hiking I've found in North Texas over 35 years. Well marked, well maintained. With a great diversity of skill levels, these trails can be taken individually for .4 mile or combined for up to 12 miles for through hike training. Used by beginners, trail runners, and families. No bikes! Can be shorter hikes, or longer hikes with significant elevation changes. Wildflower areas and many photo ops. Nice picnic areas. Great park restrooms.
