Hate to give this trail two stars cause the trails over all are beautiful. But what ruined my experience was the fact that dog owners do not follow pet regulations there. There was pitbulls and German shepherds without leashes. And the owners let there dogs poop in the middle of the trails. The dogs need to be banned

Beautiful! Lots of hiking and biking trails, very scenic views. Honestly the best part of Dallas. It is a popular destination, so come early and on odd days to avoid crowds.
This place is perfect for hiking with your dog. Some of the trails have small creeks, where my dog likes to stop for a break. Just be aware that a lot of dog owners do not understand that they need to keep their dog close to them, and some will actually let them come up to other dogs without any authority (it happens a lot).. beautiful wildflowers scattered throughout the trails. Great place to train for a backpacking trip. They also have some secluded decks in the butterfly garden area (great place to do some yoga/picnics).
Very pretty place with tons of scenery, but two words of caution: CROWDED and HILLY. If.you want a challenging hike or trail run the Preserve can supply you with it. If you're out-of-shape you'll need to plan for extra time navigating the longer trails. Lots of steep steps up and down the hills. Super-crowded on weekends - it'll affect your enjoyment.
Good place for a family hike, if all the kids are at walking stages or can be carried in hiking infant backpack. Can lengthen or shorten planned hike easily. Recomend long pants and long sleeves, and water source. Stay on the trails. Good family fun.
Love this place. Hiking trails are a good workout and there are trails for every level. There are even leisure trails. It's free and open to everyone, but a small donation is welcome.
Bring WATER and HIKING shoes, the ground is rough. Good job on the benches, best friends with them after a mile walks. Beautiful natures view and sounds. This is the woods so,the bugs are part of nature. Plenty of ways to the exit. Good paths with views and markings. Dog poop here and there but blame the pet owners not the park. Will visit again to make longer hikes.BRING water.
Beautiful maintained walking trails with elevation changes of hundreds of feet overlooking Joe Pool Lake to the west. Quiet escape from the city. Dogs may be brought on leashes and there is no entrance fee though small donations are welcome at the main parking lot. Watch for snakes as they may be on the trail. Some are poisonous and all should be left alone.
Nice heavily trafficked trails not to far from the rest of Dallas. A fun trip for an afternoon to stretch the legs or walk the dog. Many different trails can be strung together for a longer hike. Some elevation changes make it a nice set of trails for the whole family to enjoy.
Love the hills and the area in general. Reminds me of hiking in Austin when I lived there and haven't seen terrain like this anywhere else in the Dallas area. It's worth the drive down from Allen.
One of my absolute favorite trails to go to for a good jog, brisk walk or even snap a few pics for the Insta. I like to get there early around 8 AM before it gets packed in the parking lot. Side note, if you like your car being nice and clean it will definitely be getting dusty by frequently coming here. My camera doesn't catch the beautiful essence of nature found here. You need to see it for your own two eyes. Breathe in that fresh air and feel the wind coursing through your hair as your feet take you into nature's gift of life. The sounds of the gravel beneath your feet, the birds in the trees, the babbling stream after a rainy week, and the panting of doggies and their humans. It truly is a different experience every time I enter. I come out energized and ready to take my world to the next level.
Hidden gem in the suburbs. Free entrance. Parking can be an issue on busy days. Clean trails for the most part but some conveniently forget to pick up after pets & leave thrash behind. Hiking up challenging incline or downhill -these trails will definitely get you all pumped up.
came back from one hour hiking! with my boyfriend's push im proud of myself for completing the trail that had many slopes and hills! feels great to exercise and sweat alot!!
This is easily in my Top 5 Hiking Areas in DFW. The preserves are amazing year-round and maintained primarily by volunteers and through donations. There are various levels of trail difficulty available in the preserve. Great for families, walking, hiking, and trail running. Leashed dogs are welcome. We go there many times throughout the year to go hiking and the grounds are always well taken care of. The recent heavy rains left several muddy patches, but trails that are too muddy are marked as closed, which shows me how much attention is paid to the preserve. It's an active area with lots of visitors, especially during holidays and New Years Day. Parking is adequate, even during busy days. Please remember to make a donation (or volunteer your time) while you are there!
Very nice our first time going went early in the morning walked 4.3 miles... Then went back this evening with the kids and did another 2 miles feels good and and very relaxing scene....Will be back very soon...
This is a wonder place to get in some local trails. For some reason I try to run and I am awful but love it out here. Its a challenging walk, run, and hike at some points. Also has beautiful lake and creek
