Very nice place to visit. Even if you don't go inside the castle/winery itself (there is a fee just to get in), you can still enjoy the amazing views of the vineyards, the castle and the environment, even the views of the valley ,since this is on a small hill. I haven't been inside so cannot say anything about the winery, but at least outside it is wonderful

The self guided tour is a scam for $30. You get to see maybe 3 rooms and then everything else is either off limits or just for guided tours there is also little information on what the self guided tour consists of. The staff was constantly there which is good to its fault because it felt as if we needed to buy something. While the castle was cool I would never have spent $30 to see so little. Overall I was severely dissatisfied with my experience and would not recommend it to anyone.

Was touring some friends in Napa and stopped to pick up wine on Sat 7/8, it was packed, we turned around to leave without wine and was greeted by Marcella who offered and went and grabbed my wine for me and had me check out in a side office to avoid the crowds. She went above and beyond to get me my wine. I love great customer service. Thank you

I love the wines they have here and its a very beautiful place. The first time I came here was 3 years ago and its was the best experience ever. I recently went back there and it has totally changed, staff is rude and unprofessional, they will do shady things as long as one of their higher ups isnt seeing it or isnt around. I am very sad that this place has changed for the worst, but of course thats just my opinion.

Really beautiful place - amazing castle, interesting story, and beautiful grounds. Would be a great location for kids or others who aren't going to do wine tasting. We didn't like the wine tasting as much as the other 2 wineries we went to (Mumm Napa and Ashes & Diamonds) because of the set up; it didn't feel as personal as the others and felt we got less information.

100% a tourist trap
Everyone pays no sharing or dd's
Trader Joe's has better wine for $2
Probably a good reason that they don't distribute outside of napa

Beautiful Castle Winery! Plenty of different souvenirs and great wine tasting venue. The staff were super super fun and friendly. I asked to pair my wine with chocolate and they honored my request. Although the place was beautiful and the wine was great, I thought the price for the tasting was a bit pricey! However, buying by the bottle was not priced bad at all. I wish I had more time to hang out and check out the castle. So when you come visit, make sure you have at least 3 hours reserved.

Danger from covid in the place. One of the staff was coughing in front of other guests which scared me and I ran away from the place as soon as possible. Avoid during covid!!! They should stay away from guests if they have cough or cold.

It's a actual castle!! I would recommend taking the guided tour. When I went I did a self guided tour which is cool if you want to see the chapel, dining hall, and courtyard. The guided tour had so much more. If you are going for a tasting anyways, the tour is only 10 bucks more. I would recommend going early because the place I popular. Lots of parking.

The wine was good and can only be bought on site. They do not sell anywhere else. I would suggest Choosing your own tasting choices. I felt like I was being pushed towards trying to cheaper wines when I left it to suggestion.

Im a repeat offender here, typically I would rate 5 stars; but I brought and paid for a group to come here to find we were given dirty glasses. Im not talking about lipstick that didnt wash off, but left over breadcrumbs died red in the glass and lipstick. The wine and castle are unbeatable though.

Overall a great experience. Bit pricey for an entrance. But you will find variety of wine options. When you visit Napa, this place is must and should to go. La Fantasia wine is one of my favorites all time.

Beautiful grounds, but much more of a campy tourist trap than I expected.

Very awkward tasting experience as our guide got into a heated shouting match with a couple from NYC because they wanted to finish their tasting with white wine after having four reds (which our guide told us several time he vehemently recommended them not to do). It was a nasty experience where they were shouting at each other to f#@k off. I wasn't offended or anything, but the rest of our tasting was soured because our guide was in such a foul mood after that.

My family loved this winery! We went on the tour of the castle and upgraded our tasting to get the Reserve wines. Both the reserve and non-reserve wines were so good! We are fans of red wines. Our guide was awesome too! Beautiful atmosphere
and wonderful wine. A must-do experience in Napa Valley.

Cool castle, complete with moat, drawbridge and medieval torture chamber -- a unique winery experience. Note, everyone has to pay for admission to the castle, which is a bit of a bummer for any DDs in your group. The $25 fee includes a "complimentary" 5 wine tasting.

I really loved this vineyard, the castle gives a charming touch, knowing the history and facilities of the place, the production method of the wines and tasting to choose your favorites is an experience worth living, if you reside within the States United; They can send you boxes of your favorite wines to your address, in case you are not available to take them at the moment.

Tourist Trap!!! BEWARE of their scams. If you want to enter you must pay whether you are tasting or not. No sharing of a taste is allowed. When you get to the tasting area they push you to upgrade for a $15.00 additional fee per taste of premium wine. There was no set tasting list, just a price list with all selections. Most importantly our server was rude and hateful making our last stop of the day a horrid experience for us and another large group next to us, all because we changed our location to allow the larger group better access to the bar. Apparently, once you walk up to one area, you cannot move around a pole to make room for a larger group! Finally, after causing a scene at her bar, our server then accosted us in the shopping area and kept her drama going with my man, not acceptable and very inappropriate. There are MANY other places on the road who care about sharing their wine and not just bringing in a dollar, go there instead.

An incredible winery that is built into a 13th century style castle. The owner spent over 30 years rebuilding an authentic castle experience that just also happens to be the most awarded wine in Napa Valley. Haven't had their wine? Go there and try it! You won't find it anywhere else in the world because they only sell it on site. Make sure you do the guided tour (request Gary) because the private tasting party is worth every penny. Oh, and don't forget the chocolates!

Such a unique, memorable and interactive tour. Simultaneously leaning about the castle features and the wine itself kept us engaged the whole time we were there. Wine tasing at the end was, of course, our favorite part. The whole thing seemed larger than life.

Our tour guide Gary was hilarious and so much fun. I d recommend him to anyone.

Man-made castle in the of Napa! Very interesting spot to visit. However, if you're a designated driver (DD), you are still required to pay $25 for the tasting, even if you don't taste it. I don't agree with that, even though they did spend quite a bit of money building this as a tourist trap.

As for the tasting experience, the place gets packed. Incredibly packed! Make sure to stop by early, or book a reservation for large parties. You can save $5 from the wine tasting app if you want, but you need to take a picture of the actual spot and upload it on Facebook and show them to get it (not worth it).

I'd recommend that they don't force designated drivers to pay the tasting fee as it's not a very positive experience for the group.

A small stop in a vineyard was in order, during our visit to Napa, and our choice fell on the Castello di Amorosa, not for the vaunted quality of its products, but for the architecture of the estate. We were very intrigued by this 13th century Tuscan castle, built (with the materials and techniques of the time) only a few years ago. This vineyard allowed us to taste delicious Californian wines, but with some touches of Italy.

This is a great wine venue. I'm actually rating my visit last summer (2017) before the fires hit the area. I did the full tour and tasting and loved it. Even though the castle is relatively new construction, it's quite beautiful and appears much older than it really is. Our tour guide was excellent and our tasting was expert. I'm not a true wine connoisseur but I know what I like, and I liked every wine we tasted. I was there on a weekday and missed the crowds. That makes the visit much more enjoyable.

Visually majestic as you drive up the vineyard and tree lined entrance driveway. Great tours as check out the wine cellars! A 13th century Tuscan Castle replica here in The Napa Valley. The vino is really...and surprisingly...very good too. Overall a fun experience and a very good day of adventure out in the valley. The farm animals on site are really cool to see and enhances the castle vibe. Salute!

This place is a lot of fun. The wines are delicious, the full tour is great, not an ounce of stuffiness and if you do know a bit about wine the guides are very knowledgeable. Generous with the pours and additional tastings. The chocolate with the last flight was awesome. Also try the grape juice!

First, I want to give a shoutout to my group. They were so much fun to walk around and do cheese/wine tasting with, even though some of them are from Ohio (because go blue! ).

Now for the actual review: we did the wine and cheese guided tour. The pairings were all amazing. Good reserve wine. Our tour guide was also so much fun. Tysha was both knowledgable and really really entertaining. I figure anyone from those who are just tagging along to those who want to move to Napa would LOVE her tour.

Serious tourist trap. Pretty neat castle but there was a thousand people, and the wine was just ok. Not only that but the worker pouring was like rolling his eyes at us when we asked questions about the wine. RUDE! Not worth $25.00

Fun castle built in 2007 equipped with everything a castle has: a moat, drawbridge, cellars, a torture room, and a dungeon. It's a family fun experience for an afternoon. I suggest taking the guided tour (a little pricer than the self-led tour), which is 1 hour long, and then tag on another 45 mins of wine tasting. With the guided tour, you get more behind the scenes look and entrance into restricted areas.

This Winery is a beautiful Italian Castle from the middle age. The castle is self is well worth the visit, especially during the festive holidays. The wine here are actually made in Italian style, so you really have to drink it with food in order to fully enjoy it. This is one of the most highly visited tourist attraction in Napa. So I would not miss it.

Robert was a great host. He didn't quite follow our list, and catered exactly to our taste and we loved it. Very friendly and made a point to make sure everyone had a good experience. Fun atmosphere, and not a wine we didn't like! Well worth the trip.

This was my friends and my favorite stop on our visit to Napa! Absolutely stunning location and delicious wines. We did the food and wine pairing tour with Mary - she is FANTASTIC!! So knowledgeable as well as so down to earth that we did not feel uncomfortable with our amateur wine knowledge. All the food she made to pair with the wines was superb. 100% will plan to come back here

This was a little further than we expected, as it's actually past Napa. Absolutely beautiful, we are glad we took the time, the tour was fun with lots of interesting vineyard facts and included some wine tasting at the end. We could have spent all day here but we needed to drive back to San Francisco.

This place has a great scenery and a unique castle. I had a great experience here back in 2015. We were sipping wine on the castle. People were nice and attentive. We were so impressed with the place that we got a case of wine and they happily waived our tasting fee.

However fast forward to 2018 when I visited this place again this place has gone down hill. It's now a fully commercialized touristy place. They don't allow couples to share tastings. Each person has to pay to enter. Tour buses are dropping loads of tourists right at the door. They took you to this underground tasting place where they stingily gave you the tiniest pour. Back then they generously offered me $1 shipping when I bought a case but now I have to pay $30 for shipping. If I buy a case they would only be able to waive one tasting ticket. The place is overcrowded and it feels like they want to squeeze as much money out of you as possible. I was a fan and was thinking about getting another case. But after visiting the castle again and seeing how commercialized and impersonal it was I don't want to come back here again.

Of the over 500 wineries this has to be the most unique and must see place. We purchased the premium tour which lets you visit the dungeons and the underground barrel rooms. We each had 5 wines to taste and with a couple you can make that 10 between you. We are not wine experts but do appreciate a good glass and we kept finding ourselves writing 10 on the ratings box. We had to hold back and purchased 2 of our favorites but could of purchased 10. Highly recommend the tour and just taking in the Castle and the building techniques that it took to create this wonder.

Though the premises are beautiful, navigating the place is so frustrating it puts a damper on the experience. There's so many people packed in the exit and entry areas of multiple sections around the castle. We accidentally walked out a door that was an exit and as we tried the come back in the owner happened to be there and was adamant about seeing our tickets. There were so many people it was so chaotic and he was so concerned about seeing our tickets. It was so tacky in my opinion, how about you figure out a more fluid way around your tasting room. The wine was ok.

Great place to spend sometime with family friends and friends experience what Napa Valley has to offer.. personally I loved their Cabernet but their other wines are equally great. Unique experience for sure.

About Castello di Amorosa

Castello di Amorosa is a unique winery located in the heart of Napa Valley, California. The winery is designed as a medieval-style Tuscan castle, complete with towers, drawbridges, and even a moat. It's an impressive sight to behold and one that transports visitors back in time to the days of knights and castles.

The castle was built by Dario Sattui, who has Italian roots and a passion for wine. He spent over 15 years researching medieval architecture before embarking on this ambitious project. The result is an authentic recreation of a 13th-century castle that looks like it could have been plucked straight out of Tuscany.

Visitors to Castello di Amorosa can explore the castle's many rooms and chambers, including a great hall with soaring ceilings and massive chandeliers. There are also several courtyards where guests can relax with a glass of wine or take in the stunning views of Napa Valley.

Of course, no visit to Castello di Amorosa would be complete without sampling some of their award-winning wines. The winery produces over 30 different wines using traditional methods such as hand-sorting grapes and aging them in oak barrels. Some standout varietals include Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and Gewürztraminer.

Wine tastings at Castello di Amorosa are offered daily from 9:30 am to 6 pm (except major holidays). Guests can choose from several different tasting options depending on their preferences and budget. For example:

- The general admission ticket includes access to the castle grounds for self-guided tours plus five wine tastings.
- The premium tasting experience includes access to exclusive areas such as the Il Passito Room (where rare dessert wines are aged) plus seven wine tastings.
- Private tours are also available for groups who want a more personalized experience.

In addition to wine tastings, Castello di Amorosa hosts several events throughout the year such as grape stomps during harvest season or Valentine's Day dinners in the castle's candlelit chambers.

Overall, Castello di Amorosa offers visitors an unforgettable experience that combines history, architecture, and world-class wines all in one place. Whether you're a seasoned oenophile or just looking for something unique to do in Napa Valley - this winery should definitely be on your list!
