Great place for a family vacation. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because one of our kids lost her prescription glasses and we knew the area she lost them in and no one ever attempted to even look for them after the park closed. But other than that we all had a blast and we cannot wait to go back again!

This theme park is more for local residents around the area, less travelers come here comparing with famous Disney or Busch gardens. The season pass is a very good option if you have little one that just within the age range enjoy all kinds of rides. This place has good traffic options as it is right beside the highway I-77.

EXTREMELY EXPENSIVE!!!1!1!1!1111!!!!! Water costs 5 dollars!!! Ridiculous. But still it's pretty fun and all out worth it. The rides (rollercoasters) were really fast and twisty. Recommended you dont eat before. The harbor did not have many "pool" pools but still enjoyable. Prepare for lines

Carowinds is very exciting and fun for the whole family. The ONLY problem is the staff. Most, but not all of the staff were kinda rude....some were even mean mugging me....some were even bumping into me and my family without saying anything. The security people at the front, especially the ladies, were very welcoming and nice.

We usually have a great time but today was terrible. After driving 2 hours to get there only to discover half of the water park was closed. Had a problem trying to re enter park as well and Im a season pass holder. The only good thing about the today was the short lines for the rides since most people were at the water park.
Since I am a season pass holder I will go back again but I doubt I will spend the money for a season pass next year.

It was amazing!! Everything is worth getting on. Even if the line is long. It's best to get to some of the rides in the morning so the lines won't be so long. Other than that Carowinds is amazing. You should really go and enjoy yourself!!!

Other than the extreme heat, this was a little of fun. The lines were rediculous, but thankful MOST places had fans! The prices were typical from Theme Parks... Thankful we were able to use an AAA discount!

A 1 star is too much. The most horrible experience and I did call corporate to give them a chance to rectify the situation but, I never received a call back. This is why I am now writing this review.
I went to Carowinds in Charlotte, NC with the intention of purchasing a season pass for for our two teenage daughters and, my husband and I with the meal plan also. I was told about the preK program where your toddler can get a free season pass showing their birth certificate. I took a picture of our 4 year old daughters birth certificate because first I was concerned about it being lost, ruined or stolen. Identity theft is a HUGE issue these days as we all know. The CSR that I spoke with was unable to help me because a picture of the birth certificate wasn t good enough (even though my daughter who was right in front of him was clearly under 5.) and was extremely rude when I asked to speak to a manager or supervisor. He made an annoyed noise as he went to get his supervisor and told me they were going to tell me the same thing he did. He later told me, I could take my business elsewhere . This is the first face that will greet you at customer service .
So.... now the supervisor comes over and she was just as bad. I explained to her the reasons I was concerned about bring my child s actual birth certificate to a park where we would be riding rides where it could be ruined or stolen. I also explained how I had plans to purchase 4 full priced passes with a meal plan also. She still gave me a hard time. I then mentioned that I also had a picture of my child s social security card. She told to let her see that. I thought about it for a moment and explained that it didn t make any sense that she is going to accept the SS card that DOES NOT have my child s date of birth but, she would the SS card picture. After the going back and forth I decided that I would NOT waste my money at Carowinds. The supervisor ended with telling me well, for the record I tried to work things out . No she didn t! She gave me a ridiculously difficult time while she was looking at my child s clear picture of her birth certificate and my child clearly under 5 was right in front of her. There was many more rude comments but, the topper was telling me I could take my business elsewhere . My 4 year old even asked why they were being rude? Pretty sad! I did take my business elsewhere and we had a great time right down the road. Sad also that it brought my daughter to tears. There are so many places to take our kids and spend our hard earned money. I wouldn t recommend going when peoples tempers flair during the summertime because of the heat. This staff will only make things worse NOT better. What is also sad is I spoke to some other people and told them about our experience. Surprise! Surprise! They all have had bad experiences with staff. So... thank you Bart (csr) and Nancy (manager) for the poor experience before I paid over $500 +$20parking.

Went for scarowinds. Was denied at the gate as my girlfriend was wearing a halloween onesie. We read the rules before we went and they stated "no costumes that conceal your identity" a onesie doesn't conceal ones face nor identity. Pretty sure the kids at the front gate haven't read the rules themselves. So we left and didn't get a refund. Great way to treat two veterans of this fine country. Will not be returning as if we can't even get passed the front gate with people not knowing there job I don't want to know anything about the inside

Defiantly a fun trip. We had no issues with this park, all rides were working and can't stress enough that the coaster "Fury" is amazing. Some staff was less than friendly was the only downfall.

Good themepark with a good selection of rides for all kinds of people. I'm not big on coasters, but my wife loves them and has had a blast on each one! Love their holiday decorations, and the theme change for those seasons. What keeps it from a 5 is that the themeing throughout the park is very disjointed, and they need to do some updates and repairs on a sizeable number of the rides, attractions, and shoppes. They basically need to do a face-lift and retheme some of the rides/zones into one specific idea.

A rule for everything...be very careful having your kids height determined....get the wrist stating your kid passed height requirement. Be prepared to stand in line for over 30 minutes at a time. Follow every rule even as they change and are made up or risk being removed from the park....no refund. Buy ticket in advance on line or be forced to buy 2 day ticket

The WORST experience I ve ever had at an amusement park. The rides and water park were shut down a total of 5 hours out of the 10 hours the park was open today due to storms in the area . Though there was only thunder, lightning and rain for MAYBE and hour of all that time everything was shut down. We drove a total of 3 hours to get to Carowinds and another 3 hours home only to ride 3 rides and soak in the wave pool for a total of 10 minutes before we were cleared out. I understand that everyone has a weather policy for our safety but it s quite ridiculous to keep rides closed down when the sun is out and there isn t a cloud in the sky. Needless to say I will never be back to Carowinds

Fun Place to Visit. Family Amusement Park has Consistantly been Upgrading, Adding New Rides and Adding More Restaurants with a Wider Selection of Meals. Great place to take your Kids or Date to have lots of Fun!!

Carowinds is great family fun but they way overcharge for parking; with the prices they charge you would think their parking lots would be in tiptop shape but they are not. There are potholes everywhere.
The lines are long for the rides and the prices once you get into the place are out of this world. The rides are fun if you actually get a chance to get on them though.

Really exceeded my expectations. It had plenty for both older and younger kids. My not-very-adventurous kids still had a great time. Facilities were clean and we were lucky enough to pick a day where the lines were manageable. As expected though, merchandise in the shops is overpriced - I paid 12 for a bottle of sunscreen that would have been half that outside the park. The quesadilla line was unnecessarily slow too and management didn't seem too bothered by it.

My family LOVED this place. It was clean and friendly. Bianca (at the pizza place on 7/17/18) and Jordon (in the fury gift shop on 7/18/18) went above and beyond when it came to customer service. But everyone made us feel welcome. The rides were amazing. We will definitely be coming back soon. Thank you!!!

What an amaizing family place, it really is, not only with all rides you can imagine but to ride a coaster thru NC n SC at the same time is pretty awesome.
My favorite time is during the holidays, the decor is gorgeous, really brings out the holiday spirit .
A+ place to visit with your family, friends, enjoying great food, music, very enjoyable atmosphere.
You will not be dissapointed, you will be glad you visited Carowinds.
Be Blessed .

Do not waste your time at scarowinds. Money hungry and they will sell you tickets when you get to spend only an hour in park. Traffic lasts an hour and it takes an hour just to get inside. Long ride wait times and wait times for the scare attractions inside.

It was fun but sooo unnecessarily expensive and NOT handicap freindly. If you are local you NEED to go ahead and purchase the gold pass. If you're a one timer show up early as possible. Prepare for lots of walking. We saw about a third of the park but walked 5 miles. The electric scooters were $50. Yes if you're disabled or old be prepared to be extorted. Kiddie rides were great and lines weren't too long on a Wed. 3 plates of food like hotdogs and fries were $40 with my gold pass discount. I have the drink plan ($32) so my drinks were free , but usually are sold separately. Small funnel cake is 10.99 regular is 24, yes $24 plus tax. You're better off bringing your own foods. The kiddie areas didn't have enough seating. Ppl were sitting on curbs low to the ground so if you can't afford the 50 scooter and have limited mobility this park may not be for you. I have a pass so we'll go back but my mother who does have limited mobility can not come. She doesn't feel welcomed. She feels that the park discriminatory against disabled individuals, and you know what I agree with her.

This park is spectacular. Cedar Fair knows how to do a good job (and a theatrical entrance). The rides are amazing, the food was great, and the park has this feel that's a little hard to describe with words, but it's a positive vibe! I wouldn't tell you to pass up any park, but if you skip out on this one, then you're making a huge mistake! Just missing out on Fury 325 is a tragedy itself#

The park is always being updated. I always have fun there and can't wait to go back again. Lines into the park and to the rides can become long. Overall it is very fun and lines are worth it.

ery fast unload and the people are very friendly. Coming off of I77 you have to make the left across from the food lion and subway sign they have put in turning lanes sign on left for bonded logistics

Love Carowinds but I do often feel they are over priced on the extra activities within the park. Also I really wish they would do something for little little ones. Its tough for those of us with large families ranging from 1 to 17. There is plenty for the older kids, teens, kiddults however nothing for the toddlers and yet I see so many throughout the park. Really wish they could put in some sort of toddler play area.

Our visit was great! My little sister is disabled and we went to the fist aid center and got a yellow form that allowed us to practicly skip the lines so she can ride with no incident. The yellow form shows rides she cant ride based on her disability. As long as she was tall enough then we got up to all seven people in our group to ride. If she wasn't tall enough... Well we got to stay and ride while someone who didn't want to ride stayed behind with her. The yellow form is filled out as you go on rides. You can go on one ride at every time they put on the paper. You can get more than one paper after they get full. I don't know if this is new or not but the last time I visited four years ago they did not have this yellow form. I was so suprised and was really happy that my sister could go on so many rides! It made our experience from three stars to five!

I've been in this area for quite some time and still don't understand the attraction to Carowinds.

While the rides are fun, the slack-jawed teenagers running them could care less about being efficient about getting people on and off of them. The lines are always excessively long. Expect a 30 minute wait for a 3 minute (or less!) lackluster ride. The rides themselves are all pretty worn-looking in appearance and don't give a very smooth ride. I've been here several times and each time I have seen a broken-down ride, or witnessed a ride malfunction.

Food choices are all pretty poor and VERY overpriced. Lines are also a problem at the concessions. Again, staffed by teenagers unwilling or unable to care about doing a decent job. Panda Express? I mean, who goes to the fair and wants takeout Chinese food?? Chick-Fil-A is there, but expect a tenth of the menu at 2x the price of the franchise literally a mile away up 485.

Carnival games are a ripoff - as expected - but try explaining that to a 7-year-old who wants to 'win' a toy.

Overall, it seems like a well-kept county fair that never got taken down. Replace the carnies with minimum wage teens, and you get the idea.

A lot of family fun packed into one place.
I love the meal plan on the season passes and the all season drink cup(was a life saver this hot summer)..
It is pricey family fun though.

My wife and daughter in law took my 2 grandbabies and 3 friends to Carowinds on August 15, 2019. We bought 12 gold passes for our family this year. On the date stated earlier the lazy river was only half of it was working and one wave pool was shut down. You would think that if you buy Gold passes all the park would be working unless there was contamination, but they were told it was because of being under staffed. I feel like I was cheated from all the benefits of buying yearly passes. Maybe someone needs more training on how to properly staff for middle of summer when it is blistering hot. You would think all aspects of the water park would be functioning.

Always have a good time when we go here. If you go more then one time you should get a season pass. Hi to makes it worth the price. And now they will be open for a Christmas season with lights too. Just make sure you eat your own food as the food there is expensive just like most theme parks.

It's okay if you have a season pass. Definately make sure the rides are up and going bc lightning, training/lack of workers or maintenance closes the rides down. Otherwise you just spent a fortune to get in to wait in lines or play games that cost more money!
