I haven't been to Carowinds since I was a child. Recently I was able to take my two boys ages 5 & 7. We all had a wonderful time! Lots to do for everyone! Large and well laid out park. We also were able to enjoy the water park on its grand reopening! You get so much value for the reasonable ticket prices! We will definitely return!!
Wonderful time and alot of fun. Can be really pricey if you dont get the packages they offer. They have a couple of insane rollercoasters that are not for the faint of heart. Will be going back for sure.
It was really fun and i had a great experience for my first time.
You need at least one full day to do everything that's available. If you go on a busy weekend, you may want to consider the "fast pass".

Beautiful park with tons of great roller coasters. Arrived at opening on Monday in June, rode every coaster without any lines!
This is an excellent amusement park. I would say their major draw is the sheer amount of roller coasters they have in the park. They have other non-coasters as well and a water park that just recently got expanded. I always have a great time here and it is worth it to get the gold pass if you are going to go more than once a year. They have a great kids park too that even smaller kids (2-3 years) can enjoy. I look forward to enjoying many days here this year.

Fast lines but some rides it's better to have a fast pass like "night hawk"

I am new to the area and my first visit was Winterfest. Honestly, I thought it was over priced. Like a Disney but on a much smaller scale. Tons of food choices but limited rides. Lights were beautiful to look at. Staff was super helpful.
Awesome park! Would be 5 star if it wasn t SO expensive. Your spending $ every time you turn around! And lots of it!
The only thing frightening about Scarowinds was the 2 hour wait in bumper to bumper traffic. Horrible experience for Scarowinds. Will not be coming back or suggesting anymore.
We have season passes, big crowd today, Saturday, beautiful weather. Long lines. Definitely best to get fast pass on these types of days. I think Carowinds doesn't manage the fast pass as good as it could. There's one ride, called mountain gliders ( I think) that basically have 10 gliders per run, 1 adult or 2 children per glider. With fast pass, when a group of kids come by, they can take most of that run creating huge wait times for those without. Due to the small number of seats, this ride should not have the fast pass option.
Great fun but height restrictions prevent shorter kids from riding thrill rides.
Please be advised that they will NOT give you a raincheck if it calls for thunderstorm/ lighting. They will advise you that it will eventually Passover leaving you stranded without rides to ride
The park opened at 9. We got there at 10. Only a handful of rides were open at that point, but we were told by the staff noon is when the majority opened. Lunch rolled around and still less than half the rides were closed. It wasn't until almost 5 PM that most major attractions we're functional!!! We would have been better off buying the night pass instead of roaming the park looking for things to do. I'm not sure if this is due to the time of year we visited (April) or if this is how they operate year round.
Enjoyed my second visit since ive been down south in 2 years for bmw family day. Was a wonderful time. Enjoyed the rides an food an music as well.
Nice clean park and cedar fair does a great job making the experience great. Only critique I can say is the food quality has gone down from years past.

I've loved this place ever since I was little, but I do advise that IF you can, get the Fast Lane pass, especially for events like Scarowinds. The new Fury rollercoaster is AMAZING,...buuuut the line is far from it, and the ride is fairly short. Also, paying an additional fee for parking (esp. a $20 one) is sort of a kick in the teeth, but I guess it is slightly better than just increasing ticket prices by a few $.
Besides the expensive everything lol, it's a it's a fun place, lots of restaurants and rides for all ages. Definitely a fun time!!!! Family friendly! Lines are a bit long, but understandable. Also in certain restaurants alcohol is present.
Very great park. Awesome coasters. Fury 325 is my favorite coaster now. Out of all the coasters ive been on it was the best. Great place and friendly staff. I really recommend to other coaster enthusiasts or anyone who just likes parks.
Scarowinds was a blast! Definitely worth going! Fun for all ages.
Has good games. However, the food too expensive and the waiting time for each game if you don't have the fast pass usually above 90 minutes

My husband and I took our 18 year old son had great day and lines weren't too long lot of rides for thrill seekers and good for family trip and for little ones
I don't like, we was waiting long time in line, and then they stop the roller coster. We lost a lot of time and they pretend to buy a speed line with a price two times more than a regular entrance.
Great mix of thrill rides and kid rides. Great for a day with the family.

Great time everytime. Worth the Gold Pass for anyone who loves a bit of adrenaline from time to time or if the family needs to go out and have a great time. And great food. Lines can be rough some days but it's always worth it!

Rides are fun, but a human bag checker is bananas. They need to upgrade to the 21st century.
Don't expect the same experience as universal studios or Disney! Carowinds is all about the coasters! Cheap tickets and souvenirs are descently priced too. We live 3 hours away so we got season passes. Definitely worth it when you just want to go have fun once a month and not break the bank.
I havent been to this place in 8 years until the other day. It was awesome. If your looking for a good rush like I am the Intimidator or Fury was great! I paid $20 upfront for a season pass and pay $8.50 a month and I loved the rides and service so much Ill be going every weekend!
Raining night at Scarowinds... and extremely busy. 1hr 14min in and have not went to an attraction yet. Be prepared to wait in lime
Carowinds was friendly, clean and organized. We bought the souvenir cups and got free refills all day long (first day only, its $1 a drink after that!) The family stayed hydrated and happy and we had a blast. Thank you Carowinds staff!!

The park seems extra crowded today. But still always a good time. Not many rides closed today. The lines moved pretty quick. Download the Carowinds APP!! Its a must, it gives you wait times of rides!
It was a great day. Crowd was just right. We didn't have to wait in lines. But it was hotter than I liked.
Alot of parks out there look like they are on there last legs but this park is nice and clean and has friendly staff. They also have handicapped parking and restrooms which could be helpful for some. The customer service is also very friendly and can help you in a hurry.
Winterfest was lovely!! Beautiful lights, music, ice skating etc.
Lots of fun! Rollercoasters are primo! Food and beverage sure is better than in the 90s
Not really what it s cracked up to be. It was a fun family day and the last trip taken with my grandpa, but hope to never go back.

Drinks (especially since they don't provide lids or straws, only cups) and food are overpriced. We didn't get to ride everything, due to a lightning storm.

First time experience at Carowinds.
I had an expectation of a six flags style place and for the most part it met that expectation. The upside was the quantity of rides. We rode 4 rollercoasters in about a one hour span.
Park was enjoyable, saw a cool show and had a great memory making day!
It was great...had a lot of fun. The park was not pack after 4pm and the lines was not long.
Family had a ton of fun. Love the air conditioned Harmony Hall for food. Included water park is great for hot days. Fury 325 easily beats Millennium Force at Cedar Point. Great amenities throughout the park. Clean bathrooms. Friendly staff. Kids loved the Camp Snoopy area.
I am very disappointed in the way Carowinds handled the situation on Saturday, August 18, 2018. I arrived, after driving for 3 hours, at about 6:30 pm. The person who came with me stays about 4 hours away. The person at the ticket line took our tickets, scanned them, ripped them, then proceeded to tell us that the rides were closed due to an incoming storm. He immediately sent us to the service line once we had a problem with that. We stood in the line for an hour 1/2 as it rained off and on. After finally making it to the counter. She told us that not only can we not get our money back but we have to get a ticket that only has 4 pm admission and can only use it in the next 2 weeks. The people at the computer beside us received a full refund. We did not ride a single ride. We basically paid to stand in a line for a 1 1/2 getting wet. We have been trying to contact them since, calling several times, only to get a "We will call/email you back". This should have been handled better and no one should have taken tickets from anyone for them to waste their money. As I stated before, I drove for 3 hours. I will not be going back to Carowinds.
Overall the kids had fun. The employees were less than desirable to be around. Some smiling faces or personality goes a long way. Not to mention the prices for food $34.00 for a pizza that's crazy.
Me and family had a blast. The place is so big we didn't even get to see it all. We had to leave early because Scarowinds was about to start but the little time we had there was fun .
We came during summer 2017 and had a blast! Way better than Six Flags. Best of all, there were no long waits in line.
We had a Blast!! It's a Great Park but I couldn't Ride the Fury or the Dale Earnhardt coaster.im a big Guy 6'3" 300 Pounds Too big for the car,But in all I had a great time.
Carowinds is a super fun place for all ages! Would recommend to pretty much anyone, I always by a pass and go at least 5 times a season. Great people, food, and fun!
Great park, always clean and friendly workers. I have a Gold Pass, well worth the price. As far as Rides and Entertainment 5 *****. The only reason I did not give a 5 star is because when I go to a park I want two fresh items. Fresh squeezed Lemonade and Fresh cut Fries. Not frozen fries and minute maid lemonade!

Great experience but quite packed. If you plan on going on Memorial day weekend be sure to go early grab seats under the shade and secure a locker. Get on all the slides as early in the day as you can and then spend the rest of the day enjoying the sun and the splash areas.

I would give this place no stars if you would allow me to do that. They managed to completely disappoint my family and could care less about it. We purchased the 4pm to closing tickets because they seemed like the best value. We arrived at 4 and by 4:30 it started to rain. We stayed in the park until 6 but the rides closed down until the rain stopped. We left the park and went back to the hotel. Changed into some dry clothes and returned by 7:30 after the rained had stopped. When we arrived there the park had closed 2 hours early. We got on one ride. No refunds. Horrible place! When we left the park they were selling tickets to customers knowing all the rides were closed down. This place doesn't care! They suck!
SCAROWINDS = Horrible...... doesn t deserve one star at all. It was very bad service, wasted way to much money to walk around the entire park to have to wait in the longest lines ever. The fast pass is insanely expensive for the 5 hours of park time. Drove 3 1/2 hours (which was pretty much the same time in line for the fury) for my wife s birthday and was a huge let down. I had been before several years back and it Definitly wasn t this bad. The lark was nasty and just way understaffed. Rides took way longer to load than I ve ever seen. And this is the third park this year. Staff was very unprofessional. I usually never right s review but this deserves to hopefully warn someone that cares. Take my world for it and save your money.
Don't even bother going unless you pay the extra $90 for the fast pass PLUS. Ride wait times on the app are grossly inaccurate. All the coasters were at least an hour, if they were even running. Employees hate their job and act like it. You buy the all day drinks, but there aren't many refill stations. So....you are going to wait in line there too. They ran out of ice in the afternoon the day I was there. Hot soda doesn't hit the spot. Lots of smoking going on and the place just doesn't have the capacity for all the people they want to let in. The newer coasters were really good, but not worth a two hour wait in a crowded, partially shaded line with a broken misting fan blowing hot air. Spent 10 hours there and rode 4 coasters. Save your money and go to a real amusement park.
First time visit - very nice amusement park with a fantastic selection of roller coasters. Friendly staff who genuinely seemed to care. And the park is clean and we'll maintained. The only complaint I could make is that they are super slow at loading rides, especially the roller coasters. I know safety is of utmost importance but after visiting Disney and Busch Gardens, their loading process seems to be from the stone age.

I bring my 5 year old son and 3 year old daughter here several times a week and always go in the evening. It is awesome!! No long waits, and great entertainment!! Get your season passes!!!!!!!!!
