Highly experimental work. Contemporary plays that are relevant to adult themes. Immersive experiences make it a cross between theater and an art installation.

Had great seats, very intimate experience in the Metheny Theatre. Metheny is the only one of the 4 theatres at Studio that I've been in. The atrium is a also intimate, with a few separate areas. Seating is a little sparse. There may be more seating in the 2nd floor of the atrium. The cafe and bookstore are nice features at Studio. Parking can be an issue in the neighbourhood, though I've always manage something on the street. I go a couple of times a year, finding the entrance is always confusing. What looks like the main entrance on P Street is usually closed, enter on 14th! There are tons of nearby restaurants for before or after the show, of all variety of genre.

We're lucky in DC to have so many good theaters. Studio was renovated a few years ago and has several stages available at once for plays. Most of them have seats that wrap maybe two-thirds around the stages. The stages are pretty small, but large enough to be effective.

A lot of the plays here have small casts, maybe just three people, and they're almost all modern plays by new, respected playwrights, and the plays aren't so ... experimental as you might see elsewhere. The actors are quite talented and the plays are almost always very good. There is an occasional rare clunker, but season tickets are definitely worthwhile!

Every time that I go to Studio Theater I am bowled over by their fine productions. Funny. Serious. any many dimensions of human experience. Saw outstanding production of The Remains on Sunday.

Nice intimate live theater venue in a bustling neighbor with many dining options, but don't drive your car to the theater, because parking is very limited -- use mass transit, taxi, etc.

Although I haven't seen a show here, I attended an event and the layout is very cool!

This is Washington, not London or New York. But Studio consistently pleases, with occasion wonderful plays+productions and very few busts.

We watched Queen of Basel - captivating plot, well picked ensemble of actors! As always great neighborhood for a drink/dinner/coffee before or after the play.

Great staff, totally welcoming and friendly even to college students. Students get a great discount which makes it even more worthwhile to come see a play or three here. Clean and cozy, the theater is really comfy and looks good. They put on a lot of new and exciting shows, definitely a good place to see a play, especially if you're new to theater

The shows are good, but the ticket prices are steep. I can go to the Kennedy Center for cheaper.

Great local/regional theatre that offers a variety of thought-provoking plays

The Studio Theater offers excellent theater. We have been season subscribers for several years. This past week, January 23, I have called the box office several times each day. After being told to push "0" to talk with an associate, nothing happens, the message is repeated and again nothing happens. Then the message "Thank you for calling" and the line goes dead. I can't believe there's always such a high volume of calls. If there's no intention to answer the phone, the correct box hours should be posted. I don't like to write such messages, but how else does one communicate in today's cyber-centered world.

Excellent contemporary theatre with an Off Broadway vibe.

I've asked them to remove me by email (and they do, until you go to their next show), and mail, but they haven't removed me from their mail list. I live hundreds of miles away now, and they still send me junk mail even after I've asked them to remove me. F@!#$!@# stop!!!

Clean atmosphere. Teachers are great if you go there for a classes

I spent two days for SpreeConf 2013 at The Studio Theatre. This was my first visit to Washington, DC, and I found the neighborhood around the theatre to be pleasant for walking around. The wifi for the conference proved to be problematic, but that may not have been related to the general service of the Studio Theatre.

This is one of the best theatres in the DC area. I've been going to Studio Theatre for over 10 years. I haven't had a negative experience yet. The staff is very friendly and helpful. If you're into live plays I highly recommend the Studio Theatre.

Been to two different shows both excellent. The place is huge, clean and the staff is very friendly.

What an exquisite menu. I haven't been in the US long, but this has by far been one of my favourite dining experiences. The food was perfectly seasoned and perfectly flavoured, it came to our table far faster than expected. Servers were attentive and really helpful in terms of recommendations. It was really a marvelous experience. I would recommend the fig wrapped in ham, the skirt steak, the Brussels sprouts, the lamb meatballs, and the eggplant is a triumph. I am most definitely returning

The Studio is one of the finest, if not THE finest, theater in the DC area. I've never been disappointed by the acting, plays, staging, or discussions at the Studio. They perform new plays, old plays, imports and home-grown works. I just saw a show from South Africa there. As someone who remembers the devastating riots of 1968 after the assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King, it is uplifting just to see a theater on 14th Street, and to witness the revival of the neighborhood, let alone transform the neighborhood into a destination. The Studio is a blessing. I can't wait to return.

My favorite venue. Plays are always top notch, and provocative.

Another tremendous experience attending "If I Forget." The storyline is thought-provoking causing one to reflect on their own views on the topics. Having the storyline set during 1999 through early 2000 ensured the topics were still in our memory.

Saw Wigout last cycle. Loved it. I love little Theatres that give you the feeling of almost participation. Of course, the actors might not appreciate someone participating in their work. On the other hand the audience served as enthusiastic judges and closely supportive allys in some of the casts show numbers. Great show!

I love this theater's intimate environment. While I've never had season tickets here, their line-up is always impressive, particularly when they're putting on anything written or directed by Aaron Posner. The location is fantastic as well, in very close proximity to so many bars and restaurants on 14th - it's easy to grab dinner or a drink before a show. Keep up the good work!

Nice performances & looking forward to see the other performances

Have seen at least four performances here in the 2018-19 season. All were poinent plays for our day. Acting and staging were always outstanding, the plays thought provocative, and the price for the evening quite reasonable. Always a good selection of drinks at the bar as well and lots of good restaurants near by. Worth visiting regularly.

Theatre is close to metro with many lunch options. All seats have a great view but parking is difficult.

The play I went to see here was great, I enjoyed it a lot. The actual theatre was very small, but personable. My only complaint was the bar was very mediocre and overpriced. The actual theatre is great though. Do recommend.

A local gem. If you're thinking about catching a performance, do it.

A very long time DC institution, Studio Theatre produces fantastic shows! Both of the two main stages provide excellent venues for watching a play.
