The ballroom on the second floor was amazing. The service was outstanding.
Faded elegance in a 1920s era hotel in the El Paso Arts district.
The hotel shows it's age, which is at once it's unique charm and downside. On the plus side, large rooms, furnished with antiques (original furnishings?), great location downtown. The building and furnishings exude charm and local history. That said, things are a little dingy, and (not surprisingly) there is a dearth of electric outlets. They do offer free wifi.
All in all, I recommend a stay.
room smelled damp, rooms dated and tv old school, cold water tap broken, gym equipment old and broken, pool empty, recurrent fire alarms in the mornings. good wifi. Friendly staff, but i did catch them having a smoke at the desk. I had a comfy nights sleep thou, could be worse...
I liked This very nice and everything alone that I could not see the source turned on
The hotel is one of the nicest hotels that you will see in downtown El Paso. They have great customer service and the place always feels welcoming and inviting. They have dances, weddings and other events in their ballroom and it makes the hotel that much more lively. Great place to spend the night or stop by, clean and friendly service.
Was not impressed at all with the room or hotel. It felt so muggy in the hotel right off. The room was very dated and felt very gross. The bathroom was worse. Our AC did not work ALL night and all they said was they couldn't do anything because the city was working on streets. Wow. NEVER AGAIN. definitely not worth the price as well.
Really cool historic hotel although that part of El Paso was like a ghost town. Many buildings were closed down and it was even hard to find a restaurant to eat at on Sunday (most places were closed).
The place is amazing. The staff is very respectable and kind. The bar a little expensive but fun. The awesome thing is that it's closed to there downtown area where there is Lil shopping centers everywhere. As a guest I felt very welcomed. I would most definitely come back no doubt about it.
I booked a room & it had stains in the carpet, the comforter & bed sheets of one of the beds was dirty/stained & the shower head was broken. The service is horrible I would not ever stay or recommend anyone to do so. Please BEWARE!
Its an experience very good, the rooms of the hotel are equiped with the necesary to life good.
The service is excellent but I expected more from the rooms.
We had no hot water. Had to take cold showers. When I asked to speak to a manger, I was told she was not there. I left my name and number for a callback. I never received a call. Had to call 4 times to speak to a manager. She said that she couldn't do anything for me now since I did not speak to her before I checked out. I told her I had asked for her each time. She wanted to argue with me about saying she was there the entire time.
Room didn't even have a shower curtain. At 10:30 there was someone pounding on the door asking if we were checking out when check out time is at 1:00 and we had the do not disturb sign on the door. Then I had another night booked for the following night and they refused to cancel the reservation so I lost $100 on it.
I find the hotel to be in a nice location in downtown El Paso, very nice scenery, nice bar and restaurant on the first floor, and I especially love the rooms and feel of the hotel, as a part of El Pasos history.
Friendly staff and hospitality 10/10 would visit again.
We have reservations at this Hotel for June 2018 for a big National Convention. I have 6 rooms booked since July of 2017. I received a phone call this evening 2/16/18 from a member of our Organization in El Paso informing me that Paso Del Norte's renovations will not be completed in time for our convention in June and that I need to find another hotel to book all my rooms in. The issue I have is that the Paso Del Norte has not called and I was informed that they had no intentions on calling me to tell me that we no longer have rooms. We have over 20,000 members coming from all over the country to this event. I would not have been good if we showed up in June for 8 days with no hotel rooms. After spending the last hour on the phone and calling many sold out hotels looking for rooms I was able to secure 6 more rooms. Thank you Hampton by Hilton for coming to our rescue. We are from El Paso and travel there often we will NEVER AND I MEAN NEVER stay at Paso Del Norte on our many trips home.
Parking was more than convenient, the ataff were pleasant and helpful
A gem in the desert.
Dome Bar is well stocked.Lots of great places are walking distance. Still a Dimond in the rough, but new ownership should be a good thing.
Nice bones to the building, great location...but rooms are extremely dated. Quiet, clean and comfortable....but definitely not 4 star!
The worst hotel I've stayed at for the $130 price. I lived in El Paso and never stated here until recently for Christmas. I figured, check it out since it's been talked about a lot. When you arrive, no valet or personal greeted us. We had to park down stairs and head up to the lobby. The lobby is very nice but that's the only good thing. It took 15 minutes to check in because both personnel were helping the same customer. The customer was clearly upset because they were both giving him different information for his same inquiry.
After check-in we noticed the same elevator from the underground parking garage takes you to directly into the hotel floors. Very scary since I didn't see any security which means anyone can go to your floor. The hotel interior is very old and very outdated. No effort to keep it clean or anything like that. The halls have a scent clearly to cover up the smell.
Upon entering our room I thought it was something out of a 70-80's movie. If not for the lcd TV (small 32") you'd thing nothing modern. The furniture is so outdated, the dresser has holes every where. The bathroom is not well lit and needs a good remodeling. The shutters were very dirty. They give you a coffee maker but no outlets to plug it in. Come to think of it, no outlets available to you plug in your stuff by your bed or anywhere. They give you a desk but no place to plug in.
All in all not worth the price. I understand it has some historical importance but I get a better experience at a motel 6 at a third the price. A place can't only advertise that and not back it up with a great experience. Luckily only booked it for one night to see how it is and I'm glad I made that decision ahead of time. Going to the holiday inn later which is a huge upgrade from this place.
Really old hotel almost no light in the bathroom smells old and at night some one try to come in to our room we didn't like it
If you have to stay in El Paso, this place is as good as any. Food in the hotel was terrible, but rooms are large and reasonably clean.
The mother's day brunch was nice just wasn't as organized as it could have been.
It is under construction so I can't say very much about it
Beds are uncomfortable, the pool is drained, and the internet WiFi doesn't work.
Vintage, very vintage. Creepy, musky, dusty and moldy. Lobby and the done are very elegant but once you go to your room that changes a lot. It screams remodel me alredy.
The overall customer service is OK at best. Employees seemed to always be preoccupied and at no point did they show any real attention. The room itself is very outdated, furniture is old, poor lighting, horrible water pressure, uncomfortable mattresses, and in a way the room looked dirty maybe because the carpet looks like it's the 1st carpet this hotel ever had. Food at the Huerta restaurant was ok, was decent but not exceptional. I wouldn't recommend this to anyone, had high expectations because of the supposed reputation of the hotel but I was extremely disappointed.
I thought the place was perfect, who gives a damn about any of the other reviews. The staff was amazing and very accommodating! Location is perfect and beautiful stroll of downtown late night and amazing history and culture! Loved everything about it right down to the picture on the wall, I wish I could take home with me. Thank you
Nice place that could use some investment in remodeling
I never stay in Camino Real, i was there yesterday just for a party's work, like past year
Not complete yet, just a worker. But when it opens......
The hotel is located sw to the san jancinto plaza. Service is average but drinks are good.
We had two rooms, the first one the AC wasn't working at all was super hot in that room, the other room the TV connection was horrible, picture quality was bad like using an off air antenna.
Room was not impressive. There was black gunk in the sink and tub. Food was ok, bar was typical, was not that bad.
Toilet flooded. Desk took 10 minutes for assistance. Not very amicable.
Horrible got a room stunk of smoke and the bathroom looks older than my grandmas house. the breakfast was ok but over all this hotel is not going to get my repeat business. they also overcharged my card and kept me on hold for like 20 minutes . Try the double tree if you are in the downtown area. Also the water pressure for the shower felt like I was being peed on.
The Camino is a hotel that has seen better days. The only redeeming hope for this hotel is that it is under new ownership.
Totally underwhelming downtown hotel. You can get far better value for money and comfort from a motel chain type place.
Beautiful hotel, but some things could use some updating like the bathrooms.
A pleasant place to stay your weekend or business travels
Modern restaurants and bar, Mexican style food at La Huerta. The Dome bar is beautiful!
Normal service for what you pay, a little overpriced but worth it.
The staff was rude. We originally reserved a king size bed, and received a queen size. We were told that they don't have any king size bed in the hotel. The original room we receive had a leaky faucet. Called the front desk and ask to switch rooms. The second room had a leaky faucet as well. Very outdated. The tv was older than me. No modern amenities. No fridge or safe. The shower head was falling apart. The tile in the shower was cracked. Dirty carpets. Bad lighting. Worst hotel stay. Motel 6 is better!
Friendly staff. Beautiful local landmark. The hotel is gorgeous.
THIS HISTORICAL AND MODERNIZED HOTEL REOPENED THIS SUPER WELL RECOMMENDED ONE HUNDRED PERCENT
The Restaurants is the only reason we've come. I can't say much about the rooms since I've never stood in one. Definitely a nice place to eat. There's hotel parking underground. Overall appearance of this historical hotel is high class and neat.
Needs "bar rescue" and "hotel rescue" ... superficially beautiful and historic, but needs a LOT of renovation. Would not recommend.
The hotel is in the process of going through a major renovation. It's a great place that's only going to get better.
