The worst hotel I've stayed at for the $130 price. I lived in El Paso and never stated here until recently for Christmas. I figured, check it out since it's been talked about a lot. When you arrive, no valet or personal greeted us. We had to park down stairs and head up to the lobby. The lobby is very nice but that's the only good thing. It took 15 minutes to check in because both personnel were helping the same customer. The customer was clearly upset because they were both giving him different information for his same inquiry.
After check-in we noticed the same elevator from the underground parking garage takes you to directly into the hotel floors. Very scary since I didn't see any security which means anyone can go to your floor. The hotel interior is very old and very outdated. No effort to keep it clean or anything like that. The halls have a scent clearly to cover up the smell.
Upon entering our room I thought it was something out of a 70-80's movie. If not for the lcd TV (small 32") you'd thing nothing modern. The furniture is so outdated, the dresser has holes every where. The bathroom is not well lit and needs a good remodeling. The shutters were very dirty. They give you a coffee maker but no outlets to plug it in. Come to think of it, no outlets available to you plug in your stuff by your bed or anywhere. They give you a desk but no place to plug in.
All in all not worth the price. I understand it has some historical importance but I get a better experience at a motel 6 at a third the price. A place can't only advertise that and not back it up with a great experience. Luckily only booked it for one night to see how it is and I'm glad I made that decision ahead of time. Going to the holiday inn later which is a huge upgrade from this place.
