I felt it very creepy, cult like even the kids didn't like ,not what was expected or promised
Great place to visit, we had a fab time. Enough to keep us all happy. The outdoor play area is great but supervising your child outdoors in February is quite cold! If going in winter then wrap up warm.
The only let down was the eateries. The queue for the indoor snack area was too long and the waiting time for the restaurant was between 30-40 minutes. We ended up braving the cold and ordered from the snack cabin, it was basic and overpriced. If I were to go again I would take my own lunch.
The shop was great and we got a few bargains.
As far as kid friendly tourist attractions that adults won't feel weird in - this one is very good. You get slightly less than a buttload of candy - like 3 bars and a few snacks along the way. There's two 'rides', a couple talks, some More
This tourist attraction is a must-go location for chocolate lovers! There are lots of informative historical displays, a 3D cinematic, a ride, freebie chocolates and an area to sample chocolate with toppings of your choice. There are lots of activities running for kids during holidays too. The gift shop is lovely and the cafe looks good (although I didn't get a chance to go there). A great family day out. Would recommend.
As a ex worker we go to get some cheap
chocolate from there lovely place very friendly
This was so much fun! We visited as two adults and there was more than enough for us to do. However, if visiting with kids, toddlers probably wouldn't appreciate it as much as 5-10 year olds! Lots about the history of Cadbury which I loved. Also the cafe is fabulous. The shop is a bit disappointing, I wanted to be able to get flavours you couldn't get anywhere else but it just felt like a Cadbury outlet you get anywhere
Great afternoon, just a shame a few of the gadgets didn't work. Lots of freebies.
I love this place I have been going here for 12 years now and it is amazing .There is loads of education to be learnt to you and there is a 4d cinimar which is an amazing story.the only thing I would be a bit sad about is the amount of chocolate u get in a cup
Brilliant place just not enough time to look around it all
An interesting attraction for children and adults to visit, learn and experience. I visited this place twice, and might be more to come! The information at the theatre was presented along with sight, sound, movement and senses. The biggest Cadbury shop in the world provides good bargain for chocolate lovers. The cafe also provides the authentic chocolates drinks especially their signature hot chocolate. The 3D adventure provides entertainment with visual and movements. Do come early during winter though, as they close really early.
Yes yes cadburys world mmmmmm chocolate ?????erm well lets just say it was like an underground ride squashed in like sardines and rushed through to see what the heritage of cadburys ..which was good to hear how it all started but no mention being bought out by mondelez outdated and needs to get the tour right will i go again big fat nope !!!
Cadbury World was opened on 14 August 1990 by Morgan Anderson on Cadbury's Bournville manufacturing site, and has expanded and developed its content through 'continuous improvement'.
Cadbury World has gone on to become one of Birmingham's largest leisure attractions. Over 500,000 people visit there each year especially children and students. The estate features a respected education programme (linking back directly to the educational advancements and interests of the company's original founding fathers).
Whilst not a factory tour, Cadbury World offers its visitors the opportunity to explore and discover chocolate's history, and to learn about the origins and story of the Cadbury business, which is part of Mondelez, the world's second largest confectionery manufacturer.
History
In July 2003 another Cadbury World was opened in Dunedin, New Zealand. It is located in the Cadbury Factory site at 280 Cumberland St, close to the city centre near the Octagon. This is one of the largest factories in Dunedin that also offers tours and has become very popular with tourists visiting Dunedin. In May 2009 renovations were carried out inside the Cadbury World Visitors' Centre. The attractions which had existed since the opening were taken out, and new areas were added, including an Aztec-themed room and Old England room. Unlike the Cadbury World in Birmingham, it offers guided tours around the manufacturing area of the factory.[5]
On 16 February 2017, Amanda Banfield, Mondelez's area vice-president for Australia, New Zealand, and Japan, confirmed that Cadbury World Dunedin would remain open despite the company's decision to close the Dunedin factory by March 2018. She also confirmed that Mondelez was planning to redevelop the Cadbury World Dunedin site.[6]
In April 2018 Mondelez received permission to move Cadbury World to a separate building close to the factory site in Castle Street in central Dunedin, which would allow for a major expansion of Cadbury World. The new premises, which would include a cafe, retail area, an outdoor playground, and interactive activities, is due to be completed by late 2018, and would be open every day of the year. Expectation is for annual visitor numbers to increase as a result from around 120,000 per year to around 200,000 per year.[7]
On 4 May 2018, it was reported that Cadbury World would be closing down to make way for a new NZ$1.4 billion hospital to replace the existing Dunedin Public Hospital. Mondelez had previously announced last year that while most of the Cumberland Street site would be sold, it would retain the old factory for a redeveloped Cadbury World. Mondelez vice-president Banfield confirmed that the former Cadbury site had been sold to the Ministry of Heath for an undisclosed amount. It was reported that the closure of Cadbury World would lead to the loss of 39 jobs.
Enjoy the day really good at finding out bout the history of cadbury and how choclate made
The place is so boring! I was expecting to see some chocolate being made; some behind the scenes type stuff. Nope. It's more about the history of Cadbury and not much else. Kids were as unimpressed as we were. We were in and out of the place in about an hour and a half. Maybe Galaxy world would be better?
Woman on the door acting bare stingy with the chocolates like wag1? They re not your chocolates enit why u moving mad for
My 4 years old loved it. However I was disappointed that there wasn't much about the factory itself (I understand for hygiene reasons the factory can't be viewed). Although we had a set time for entry there was still loads of waiting around and queuing. Also the cafe is rather pricey.
Such a fun family day out. We went at Christmas and got to meet Father Christmas! The children enjoyed themselves so much...especially the chocolate and of course the magic of Cadbury. Fantastic!
Great tour of the factory lots to see and do great for kids . Pack yer own picnic save a few quid . Only moan qeues can be quite long . The 4d cunema is not to be missed
Not a bad tour an experience but nothing special either
Actually a lot better than I expected. I would highly recommend. Good access for wheel chair users, including the rides.
Good fun. Definitely for kids. Essentially a fancy multimedia advertisement. Still got quite a bit of chocolate and learnt a little so I'd still recommend if you're in Birmingham especially with young kids
Character breakfast is soo good. Full pack entertainment for kids
Visited as a family trip. Bought the chocolatier experience and was impressed. Staff were friendly and gave good demonstrations. The tour was a good experience and gave a good insight into how Cadburys Chocolate is made. Would recommend for all ages.
Super cheesy and very 90s inspired but it's a hoot if you have the right attitude. The ad section was great (the animatronic gorilla playing drums was great) and they give you so much free chocolate.
Its a good day out but wouldn't go again unless an offer was on
Production line now closed, so don't get to see the chocolate being made like you used to, just an eerie empty production plant now.
A nice experience..wish there was a little more to do however.
Looked forward to oir visit but it was a bit of a let down. Didn't expect a willy wonka style visit, but visiting the promoted packaging department was a joke. We got to see 3 packed boxes of bars of dairy milk slide down a chute. Then the plant went on break. At the end you get to create the much hyped "chocolate of your dreams, a once in a lifetime opportunity". You get to put a teaspoon of wine gums OR jellie babies OR mini mallows OR white buttons OR crushed biscuit in a small cup then it gets a desert spoon of chocolate put on top. Wasn't the chocolate of my dreams, my wifes or grandkids. Would have been even more mad had the ticketz cost me full price.
Me and my son loved it. Great experience we would recommend going.
Really nice place to visit especially if you have younger children as there is lots to do. We went when there were lots of school trips on meaning we had to wait for a lot. But it was a really fun place to visit and you can get a REALLY big More
It was ok, the ques were rediculous. I wont be coming back, probably better for kids.
Thoroughly enjoyed it - Well signposted, a good mix of demonstrations, have a go sessions history .. and of course chocolate! - definitely worth going again!
Brilliant place to go lots to do and chocolate yummy great day out
I'd be thoroughly disappointed if I had to pay full price for a ticket but I didn't so it lessened the blow. The history could condensed down and it could do with more fun things to do rather that just listening to audio. What they have seems old, like something that would of been good 15 years ago. The best thing is the 4D cinema near the play area
A distinctly average experience. Only a few activities, with the tour of the factory consisting of a super brief and disjointed history, a poor cinema reel, and then three odd areas of entertainment (writing your name in chocolate, tempering chocolate, and a bizzare little ride), all of which last about ten minutes. Outside of the main tour is the Bournville musem which is hidden away, despite being the best area for some sense of the scale/history of Cadbury. The outdoor play area is fine, though there are far better (such as Cannon Hall Farm), and the areas to eat food in are poor (really expensive and not great quality). My children still had a good time, and enjoyed the 4D cinema (again this is outside), but I'd be hard pressed to recommend it.
Fundamentally, what sort of chocolate factory tour doesn't show a factory, how their chocolate is made (besides a tiny fake lab), or what goes into the design of bars? Even my son, who's 4, couldn't understand why there wasn't a "factory", and instead was just a series of corridors.
Was a good day just a shame that it rained cats and dogs so didn't really get to do much in the outside area. Would have liked to have spent more time but felt we were rushed with people behind and trying to keep social distancing but can't fault Cadbury World for that
Highly recommend it if you have children or if you're a chocoholic.
Spectacular place. Highly recommended when you visit Birmingham.
Kids seemed to really enjoy it, especially the 4D cinema part.
Some aspects weren't particularly interesting but all on all it was enjoyable for a few hours.
Very informative .very expensive. Would nit go again on a bank holiday. Ques were very long .they had run out of drinks and ice cream . Very disappointed
Great tour. I even got to temper and choose flavours for chocolate. Great rides. 4d cinema was a great highlight of the trip. Thanks for such a great day.
Great place to visit very interesting and good for children.
Great place shows a little of the history and how it's made now , good for all ages - would have liked to see a bit more of the working factory
Great family fun and the 4d cinema experience is the best part of the trip. The chocolate tasting experience is really yummy especially the popping candy.
It was such a lovely day, CW is a nice family outing.
Great fun for all the family, really enjoyed the day here
Was a shame that the production line has gone and been replaced by vinyl celebrating the 100 year's anniversary, which is 13 year's passed now. The create your own chocolate bar wrapper machine is gone which we always enjoyed using. Staff friendly enough.
Really good for kids and adults, plenty to do in the main exhibition and outside. There is a play area for kids. The 4D show is worth going to. Check out the shop for the offer of the week.
Kids love it. Adults love it. Plenty of chocolate for all!
Good day out, 2 hours with children, 1 hour with adult cohort. Entertaining and get your money back in chocolate!
Lovely place staff were great, we lost one of the kiddies as is was really busy and we alerted staff and they found him within minutes was very scary the staff were very supportive, the place itself is great we got samples before going on and another sample half way through it takes you to the very beging of how it was founded
I would like suggest this place to those who really want to know the making of chocolates and try the yummy yummy hot chocolate with marshmallows. The place is kids friendly and a worth visit attraction center. Those who relay on the public transportation will have difficulty in reaching out to this place.
Great family day out even if they are tight with the free chocolate compared to years gone by.
Only four stars as I'm not on a diet and you used to get a few more chocolate bars on the way round..
5 if you are on a diet though
More educational than a fun day. Adults will find it interesting however younger children may not.
Expensive but they give out chocolate on your way round and there's a 4D cinema and playground at the end which is what the kids are most excited about
Really disappointed.
It was much better back in the 90s when I visited as a child. it was really expensive, a lot of mess with social distancing and long wait in ques.
Amaizing place... kids been so happy... perfect place for family's with kids or witouth... really enjoy time
Great for all ages. Our five year old granddaughter loved the adventure playground. A good day out
We all enjoyed it here. Book online to get starting time.
