Awful, total waste of time. 2 average whiskeys, Buffalo Trace + Eagle Rare plus bourbon cream for sale. 2 pallets of Blanton's sitting outside, but zero for sale. When I asked the staff about buying anything else from the Sazerac portfolio I was given directions to a retail store 5 miles away and told they would charge me double the normal retail price. What a joke.

The Eagle Rare 10 YO is one of the finest bourbon whiskies I have had the pleasure to enjoy. At 90 proof the producers are clearly paying attention to quality with this spirit. This is an example of American whiskey at its absolute best. Great job Buffalo Trace!

What an amazing distillery. It just has so much character. Did the hard hat tour and loved it. Even my teenage son thought it was cool! I have always loved their bourbons and it was neat to see the process up close.

Took the bourbon barrel tour back in July with Jimmy as my guide and couldn't be more impressed with the facility and knowledge. By far my favorite tour of the 6 different locations visited in the area. My wife and I took the Ghost tour a few days later and sadly we were less than impressed. The information was plentiful but the "tour" itself was weak. Wish we would have walked the grounds more on that tour and with the sun still shinning, it turns into more of a ghost story. Another trip will be had back to Buffalo Trace!

This is an amazing distillery. I did not do the tour, as time did not allow it. Their gift shop still took about an hour to peruse through. Their prices are extremely reasonable for this type of place. I will definitely stop back and attempt to do the tour.

I've never tasted a drop of liquor, wine or beer in my entire life and I walked away from Buffalo Trace just as dry as I walked in, but I still thoroughly enjoyed the tour here! The science and the history are extremely interesting. Ashley gave us our tour and I highly recommend finding your way into her group.

Amazing place, went with the family while on vacation for a tour. Upon arrival we discovered they had an Easter Egg hunt for the community. Though you were to register the children ahead of time, they gladly allowed us to join in. Face painting, Easter bunny, and plenty of candy filled eggs.. Thank you again.

Great place. All of the staff was very welcoming. All of their tours are free which is a rare thing these days. The place is rich in history and has a unique atmosphere. We did the basic tour and our tour guide was awesome ("Woody"). The experience strengthened my respect for their brand/s. We'll definitely be back. Would recommend to a friend.

Well where to begin? This was one of the most amazing things I have ever experienced. I toured during COVID so I have to wear a mask however the experience was like Disneyland for me. I learned more in a couple of hours than I had in years of sipping.

The best surprise was the gift shop that allowed us to buy products and we just happened to get the Col. Taylor that day. I would go every year if I could.

A must for any bourbon enthusiast.

My husband and I recently completed the KY Bourbon Trail. While Buffalo Trace is not part of it, we still made sure to get over to tour their distillery after hearing it is terrific. It did not disappoint!

Our tour guide Freddy was a third generation employee of Buffalo Trace, and it was incredible some of the stuff he was able to tell us about from the history. We really enjoyed our tour and Freddy's ability to make it more unique than the same old information about how to make bourbon.

We also really enjoyed trying a few of their products, and we decided they main brand is really excellent!

Stopped in on a Saturday morning for the basic tour. Will was our guide, he was honestly the best of the seven distilleries we toured on our long weekend. Very informational tour, touched on history, production and plans for the future. Tasting was good also, Buffalo trace, Eagle rare, bourbon cream, and Freddies root beer. I will absolutely be back to take the extended tours, this was one of our favorite stops while in KY.

Wow this place is impressive HUGE. I would recommend visiting during the week for smaller crowds. Also I would recommend that you go to the gift shop first and see what brands they have out for purchase. Sometimes they go so fast that they run out by 1 or 2 PM. I was pleasantly surprised to find Col Taylor and Rare Eagle available for purchase . Had I waited till the end of my tour it would have been gone. The gift shop was great with tons of cool stuff to purchase. Tours were like every 20 minutes and free. My wife says I can t go there alone cause I spend to much money this place is a must see if you like bourbon.

Took the tour recently and have to say I was somewhat disappointed. Put the group in a room to watch a movie about how bourbon is made - really? I could have watched that online.
The other tours I've taken at different distilleries actually show you the different parts, places & steps in the distillation process in progress at their facility (isn't that what your there for??) but not BT.
Blantons fans - the tour does show you the bottling facility for Blantons but past that you wouldn't even know it was part of BT. There's not a single drop of Blantons or Blantons items available in the gift shop.
Disappointing!

My wife and and I drove to Kentucky to do the Kentucky Bourbon Trail. The Distillery wasn't technically part of the Bourbon Trail but we decided to go anyways. It ended up being the best experience of our journey. I highly recommend you visit if you get the chance.

We decided to stop in on a visit through Frankfort. The grounds, facility, and visitor area are impressive. We were underwhelmed by the staff. I'm sure this is not the typical experience, but when I walked in, no one acknowledged me. One staff was listening to a visitor talk about all the places he had been. The other two were busy talking to each other. I waited a few seconds then decided to look around for a while and also to see if information was posted somewhere. It wasn't, so I went back up to the counter. This time only one person was there, so I walked over. Just then some loudmouth, I-need-to-be-the-center-of-attention type person walked in the door behind me and started a loud conversation with the staff person right in front of me. Again I wasn't acknowledged. I could have demanded service, but I just left because I didn't care that much in the first place.

Fun distillery and its free what a great place to visit. I would go back in an instant. Thank you guys for the good times and great memories I was able to make because of you and your great service. The beer was good to and they even give you a free gift to take home with you. Anytime i am ever back in town i will absolutely come back and take another tour. This would be a fun spot to bring someone on a date or even a great place to bring your family even if you're just passing through...stop by and see these great people and grab a drink while you're hear!

Visited in a whim. After a surprise long 1hr 20min wait I was able to buy an apparently limited bottle of blanton's. Didn't even know this was the release date. Worth the wait for the bottle. Good employees but giftshop kinda meh.

WOW! Just want to pass on my appriciation to Brandi Gaines in consumer affairs.

She was very helpful in answering some of my "pappy" questions. She was responsive and

helpful, nice job.

All the best,
Steve

I Know it's hard to complain about a free tour but this wasn't one of the better places to tour with all the other options. The grounds are more of a factory and the tour itself brings a large unorganized group of people to various buildings. You get to see the assembly line where the bottles are made and there is a movie shown which is a waste of time. You get four tastings but one is vodka and one is white moonshine which are strange for a bourbon tour. The eagle rare is very good. Everyone comes because of the pappy van winkle hype which is silly. Also there is a limit on purchases for Blanton and eagle rare which is ridiculous.

What amazing history! The guys at BT truly know there bourbon history! And wow...the smells when you arrive and first get out of your car! Wonderful smells of caramel popcorn and brown sugar. The tour was awesome!

Must see for any Bourban Lover. It is worth you time to stop here. I was a bourbon tour guide also foks, at another top distillery.. This place is magical, and its history is huge. You do not know bourbon if you do not the " Trace" . I wear my "Fear the Buffalo" shirt with pride. And I told all my guests to go see Freddie and all the great people here.

Very nice distillery! I did the trace tour and Bob was a great tour guide. Covid precautions were serious and everything was well organized given the amount of tourist they do see. Suggest getting in early and maybe able to snag a Blantons(Behind the counter, 1 every 3 months per license). E.H Taylor SB seems to rotate out with Eagle Rare in the gift shop. High recommend booking a tour and visiting.

A decent tour and beautiful grounds.

A decent tour and beautiful grounds.
One note, if you want souvenirs, by them here, they are the cheapest around from any of the other distilleries and even the stores.
Unfortunately their supply of RipVanWinkle was out - but what do you expect with 20+ year bourbons!

We are on day #4 of the bourbon trail. I had never heard of Buffalo Trace until about 2 weeks ago. So glad we came here! Our tour guide, Carey, was knowledgable, super friendly and the most engaging tour guide we have had to date. Lovely tour and tasting experience. We are buying our first bottles of Buffalo trace to ship home tomorrow. This was also a free tour and tasting combo - freakin amazing! Highly recommend!

Fantastic tour of the historic facility with ample parking and access to the main roads. I'd recommend bringing a few extra dollars because their gift shop is full of things that you need: glasses, mugs, decanters, and actual distillery products. Be aware that there are per capita limits for the purchases of bourbons. Enjoy your tour! Cheers!

Our guide was excellent and the day was beautiful. You actually have the chance to smell the bourbon air and see the racks upon racks of barrels. This will be a recurring stop on my trips in the area from now on. The best part is: the tour and tasting were free!

This is the bourbon mecca! All the greats are distilled here, Van Winkle, Col.Taylor, Blanton, Stagg, Weller....so much history. The hard hat tour is very informative. Our guide, Fred, has a very extensive knowledge of all things bourbon.

Took the Trace Tour and had a great time!!! Our tour guide, David, was amazing! Made it fun and made us laugh but also gave us very good and knowledgeable information!! The smell there, wow...u need to go and smell for yourself! I didnt wanna leave cause of the smell! And it was FREE! Only thing you have to pay for is stuff you wanna buy at the gift shop! A must go if you love Bourbon!

First time in KY and visiting this distillery. What an awesome experience! We took their free tour and our guide was fantastic! She was soooo knowledgeable and passionate I learned a ton! I knew really nothing about bourbon but felt like I had a much better understanding and definitely respect for bourbon and distilleries. We tour a few parts of the production and it was extremely interesting! At the end of the tour we had a tasting and it was good, personally I only liked the buffalo trace and eagle rare and bourbon cream liqueur. Their merchandise selection was excellent except that they were basically sold out of all their bourbon. I know people were buying it and it was flying off the shelves but it was still a bummer. The grounds were very nice and I would love to go during better weather. Customer service was great and I would highly recommend the tour! Overall loved this place!

This historic bourbon distillery offers an informative tour that describes not only the way they make their unforgettable bourbon, but also delves into what makes a bourbon a bourbon. I would recommend getting your feet wet here before venturing off to the other distilleries along the Bourbon Trail, especially because their tours are completely free.

Tours are great and free. The Trace Tour is a the nice normal tour. The Bourbon Barrel is a more behind the scene where you can see a barrel filled, dumped, warehoused, etc. The Taylor tour a more behind the scenes. It s a lot of fun showing the old distillery discovered In excavation and a lot more of the machinery etc. Great facility that is open to people. You can roam if you d like while respecting bounds. Kind people. Great gift shop that will occasionally stock some more hard to find stuff. Blantons. EHT. Etc. There is always going to be Buffalo Trace, Eagle Rare, Bourbon Cream. I think...
Tasting will include the Wheatley Vodka, Buffalo Trace, Eagle Rare, and Bourbon Cream, and a chocolate.

We arrived late for the gift shop but a VERY NICE Terry came out to talk to us. She was very informative and, although she was not able to tell us if Blantons would be available, she was able to explain the reason why. We saw her the next morning and she went out of her way to welcome us again. She caught us as we were leaving, successfully having purchased our Blantons, and spent another few minutes telling us more about the history of the distillery. We hope to see Terry on our next trip to Buffalo Trace!

Absolutely wonderful, the smell of fresh bourbon in the air the Sun, sky so blue makes your eyes hurt. Not too hot not too cold, just like Goldilocks just right. I suggested every bourbon lover make a pilgrimage to this spot just to see how they really make bourbon. You will not be disappointed!

Quick tasting was very nice, the grounds and buildings are beautiful. Didn't get to do a tour so can't compare it to others we've done, but it seems a little less intimate than those we have (li.e. Woodford Reserve).
