Free entry, lovely grounds / gardens to wander around, the food In the restrant is pretty good and reasonably priced.
The Abby itself is quite amazing if you appreciate architecture.
And the gift shop sells some of the best Trappist wheat beers you will find. Also sell the famous buckfast wine (not to my taste) and a whole load of other craft items.

A must visit. Friendly helpful staff. Spotless facilities. Disabled friendly. Beautiful grounds. Personally i would only take older well behaved children.A place of quiet contemplation. Fascinating history. Well stocked shops. Good food . Highchairs in restaurant and kiddies lunch box. I will be visiting again.

An impressive Cathedral with lots of information about the historical monastery. Lots of families with young children despite there not being much for them to do. The shops are very religious but everything in them is supplied by various monasteries around the world.

Lovely place but we couldn't stay long as we had our dog with us - very hot sunny weather but dangerous leaving dog in car and not able to take him with us into gardens - next time we will go alone

An awe-inspiring site, the buildings, gardens and Abbey itself will have you lost for words. Great place to visit, very calming and not to busy when we went in May 2019. Facilities providing great quality food at good prices, a nice bonus!

Easily had us occupied for around 3+ hours. Two very nice separate shops filled with Monastic produce, books, high quality Glassware and of course the fantastic Buckfast Tonic Wine which I would recommend to anyone! Buying it is a great way to support the Abbey as well and the price in the shop is beyond reasonable. Other very nice local attractions near by as well make this a highly recommended place to visit from me.

Such a beautiful place and free as well. Plenty of room and a great atmosphere. Would be great to be able to talk to Benedictine monks about their worship and life, but they is their decision .

wonderful to see a mass celebrated in a beautiful abbey. Amazing gardens. The history of the Abbey and its gardens especially the medicinal herb garden is well worth a visit and tour. The building itself is beautiful but the entire complex is well done.

Brilliant and free! Amazing gardens to wander around and the wonder of the abbey is really something to behold. The Monastic Way exhibition is a great way to get an understanding of the monks' way of life too.
A restaurant on site and two gift shops also mean that there is opportunity to extend your visit if wanted.

Great place to visit, amazing selection of gifts and wines in the shops, and the Abbey is incredible! Also amazing is the digital show and interaction centre near the car park. A very peaceful, calm place to wander around

There is no entry price to walk around this tranquil and very peaceful Benedictine Abbey to grab some R & R time. The gardens are exquisitely beautiful and are great to walk through at any time of the year. There is a restaurant here selling very tasty locally sourced produce.

Went for the Christmas Fair. Very busy. Lots of lovely stalls. Sellers with lovely leather handbags, unusual knitwear and scarves. Plus local food, craft beers, spirits, cakes and chocolate. All this and the beautiful Abbey and grounds. A good start to December.

Beautiful abbey. New (relatively) but built in an old style. Amazing stained glass and decorated ceilings. Very good cafe and gift shop. And of course the famous Buckfast Tonic Wine which is great but visit for the abbey not the wine. Very important: it is free to enter the Abbey.

The entrance really shocked me as I wasn't expecting much but instead I was greeted by a rather modern looking interior that explained the Abbeys history and cultural significance. The Abbey grounds are beautiful and all the different shops and cafes provide for a surprisingly entertaining and informative day out. We went for the beverage but left with knowledge.... and the beverage.

Buckfast Abbey is such a special place to be. There is a real sense of peace about the place, which in this busy world is priceless. Especially peaceful is the chapel, with beautiful stain glass windows, at the far end of The Abbey. The organ is a masterpiece. A really good bookshop, a monastery shop and gift shop sell many items suitable for gifts. The Grange Restaurant, on site, sells good homely meals. Another building houses a brilliant exhibition about the history of The Abbey. There are houses
on site available as holiday lets and a lovely conference centre. We would highly recommend a visit.

A beautifully peaceful and quite destination of ours every year. We love just sitting in the grounds relaxing and letting the world pass us buy.
Excellent cafe with reasonably priced meals. On a good day you can eat outside and enjoy the view of the Abbey.

My place to chill at. I am Catholic so it seems the obvious choice, but even if you were not I think most people would enjoy the Monks history and the Abbey is just so beautiful. My place to contemplate and pray for others. The gardens are so interesting and peaceful they are my personal favourite. The restaurant is a must! It caters for most people's choices and you can have a snack or a lovely dinner. Roast is the very best and it can get busy on a Sunday. The shops have many interesting items and if you need a holy gift for someone on a special occasion like Holy Communion or Confirmation then this is the place. Parking is excellent and it is free! What more could you ask for.

Nice setting but a really poor experience in the cafe/restaurant. A 40 minute wait for breakfast which arrived barely warm and the order was also slightly wrong, with fried eggs (should have been poached) and missing the toast. If i had more time i would have sent it back. Lots of other niggles too, like no signs telling you what you can order for breakfast or how much each option was (had to ask the staff), and the staff were dragging tables around which was very noisey. Obviously they needed to move things around for some reason, but lifting the tables would have been appropriate and appreciated. Just the very basic things that were not done really. But as i said, beautiful setting!

A quiet haven to think and reflect in our busy world, free parking and entry to the ample grounds and Abbey, spotless restaurant with a sensible menu, enjoyed walking through the gardens and cooling off with Salcombe ice cream. Thank God for this place.
