Fantastic exhibition to start with. Abbey was interesting to look around. Gardens a little autumnal when we visited but still really nice. You can keep the cafe and the shops thank you.

Very beautiful and tranquil place with a good restaurant and icecream parlour. It has a decent bookshop for all christian denominations and a methodist chapel as well as Catholic Abbey. The gardens are beautiful as well.

It's many years since I have visited Buckfast Abbey but it still holds the same appeal. There is a new visitor centre which although is informative without too much reading, the loudness of the music and other exhibit sounds makes concentration a little difficult at times. The disappointment for me was the restaurant. None of the cakes were priced and not a cream tea in sight. Some of the cabinets were quite empty of food. Prices are what you expect for this type of attraction. Because of the grounds, a picnic would be lovely (weather permitting). It's an attraction worth visiting for an hour or two.

This is a puzzle of a place. Both a conference centre and a place of worship set in an an area of outstanding beauty. When we visited there was a free exhibition on understanding the life of modern day monks. Very popular.

Ended up here at the end of the day so everything bar the actual abbey was closed. It's really beautiful inside especially the stained glass work at the far end once you are inside. The gardens and the whole outside area is really worth a visit to sit and enjoy the peace and quiet.

Disappointed, didn't get to look round, dogs not allowed on the grounds, I know we should have probably looked at the website before hand but as we've been to different places on Devon we thought we would be able to look around and take it in turns to visit the Abbey, although we were offered a shaded place to leave our dog in the car.

We had a lovely visit as a family. The parking was free (always a bonus). The grounds are well maintained and the Abbey was breath taking. My only criticism would be the cafe was a bit expensive for what you got. Overall would definitely go again, enjoyable. Only guide dogs are allowed on the grounds (didn't affect or bother us)

First visit since the new museum has been built, very modern and well thought-out. Lavender garden was quaintly floral. Abbey was alive with organ practice. Seemingly still no accountability and very little mention of the Buckfast Tonic'S adverse affects.

Terrific place. The buildings, the gardens and the interactive show are all great.
To top it all the organist was blasting out some awe inspiring practice tunes.
The stained glass back wall takes your breath away.
Find some time for a peaceful and spiritual experience.

A very impressive Roman Catholic Benedictine Abbey, which celebrated its millennium last year. It has very brilliant stained glass windows at the East end, a comprehensive 4 manual organ, with chamade trumpets in the West gallery.
There is a very good restaurant, with a wide range of hot and cold food and drink.
There are shops containing religious books, cards, icons, records etc and also products made by monks and nuns from various Benedictine foundations.
The gardens are immaculate, toilets are impressively clean, and there is plenty of parking. Entry and parking are both free, the only charge is to go into The Monastic Way, an exhibition of the Benedictine monastic way of life, which unfortunately, we didn't have time to include in today's visit.
Several services are held during the day, and visitors are invited to attend most of them. Highly commended.

Beautiful Abbey Church and gardens are free to visit, there are two shops selling a range on monastic produce and religious books and items. There is also a restaurant with a big terrace looking over the Abbey, but if you are on a budget, the grounds are a really nice place for a picnic with plenty of shady benches and public toilets.

Beautifully kept grounds and a calming atmosphere. The shops are tastefully stocked and the cafe serves yummy food. Particularly good for the elderly and those recovering from mobility surgeries.

A wonderful spiritual place to visit. A good balance struck that accommodates those visiting for tourism and those on pilgrimage.
Would have been five stars had the weekday mass time been advertised correctly on the website, and the fact that the quiet of the blessed sacrament chapel was ignored by a number coming in.
You need bigger signs making it clearer there should be silence.

Just one of those lovely places where you can see a working Abbey, the Abbey itself is beautiful outside and in. Inside is a great Hall where you can look around for Free, light a candle for a loved one by just putting in a few quid as a donation. Everywhere in and outside the Abbey is clean and spotless, plenty of seats around and a really lovely Restaurant with hot and cold dinners or just a snack, again clean and spotless. There is a nice little shop with books, crosses, beads and kids stuff. Honestly it's well worth the trip to Buckfast Abbey.

Just amazing - manages to combine a deep, prayerful peace with top businesses (restaurants, accommodation, book shop) that are hugely helpful for the local economy. What ancient abbeys did brilliantly, done now! Wondrously beautiful setting too.

The gardens we're lovely with the roses and lavender out. The Abbey was marvellous with its architecture. what made it better there was a wedding in there. There was plenty of choice in the cafe

Beautiful abbey on well kept green grounds. They have a few gardens with labelled plants (which would be a nice spot for kids). It was a great place to wander around for a little while. Especially on a sunny day
