It is a place of peace regardless if faith or religion, both inside the abbey and in the grounds around the abbey.
The restaurant is light and airy with plenty of space between tables and has a most wonderful mural on the end wall.
Breakfasts (between 9 and 11am) are very good as are the bacon baps of you can't quite manage a breakfast.
Great place to visit ,restaurant very nice good choice of foods
Listening to beautiful music in this beautiful and acoustically wonderful place must be close to being in heaven
Free to enter, very peaceful. Decent cafe with nice staff
So peaceful. Free parking & free entry to Abbey. Plenty of indoor/outdoor seating in restaurant.
Charming grounds fantastic place over a 1000 years standing. Amazing feel and great coffee in the coffee shop. A must stop for holiday makers
My favourite place to visit on my way home to Cornwall. Beautiful, quiet and a must visit for anyone if you're in the area. Vespers in the evening is so calming sung by the monks. Put it on your visit list.
Very nice place been here before its lovely good place to be they make you feel welcome and its free just donations .
The gardens are a peaceful place and the Abbey inspires the spirit.
Buckfast Abbey, plenty of history and lovely well kept gardens and a little gift shop where you can buy monks wine, beautiful
Lovely place will go back again when the flowers are in bloom
This place is really special. The atmosphere is so relaxing and peaceful.
Beautiful place to visit, nice gardens & cafe too.
Working monastery with gardens, shops, restaurant beside the Dart River. Parking and grounds are free.
Smashing Church lovely grounds excellent gift shop.
We attended an event on 12th December and was very impressed with the acoustics. A very relaxing well organised evening despite the rain outside.
The Abbey is amazing. Interesting things in the gift shop. Covid precautions good.
Shady on a hot day. Excellent facilities. Everything you need for an interesting day out.
FVisitGreat place to visit abbey and ground lovely. Well worth visit. Free of charge
E very enchanting place to visit anytime but I would go back there in the summer to see the gardens better. The abby is a beauty! The surroundings are gorgeous.
Wonderful weekend break. Everything of the highest quality. Thank you to all the staff involved.
Wonderful gardens but the famous Buckfast bees were few and far between.
Lovely peacefull place beautiful garden love the window in the silent pray room recommend a visit
Fine architecture & lovely grounds, well worth the visit.
Absolutely beautiful place, I highly recommend visiting and seeing it for yourself. I loved the architecture both outside and in, and was taken aback by how gorgeous it was inside. Also where they make Buckfast Tonic Wine! We had a lovely time here and I d love to visit again.
Buckfast Abbey is a magnificant building, beautiful when the sun is shining. very restful inside
Beautiful church and visitor centre explaining the history of the Abbey. Well worth a visit.
Stunning church with an interesting history. The grounds are great as well a lovey place for a little one to run around.
Nice atmosphere and peaceful.
Has a very nice restaurant.
Beautiful building with interesting history. One way system inside abbey and hand sanitizer points so felt safe visiting. Nice spacious grounds with coffee shop where can sit inside or out.
What a beautiful place. Great Cafe. Lovely gardens. Amazing architecture. I love the mix of stones they used to build the abbey. Lovely gift shop as well. Well worth a stop to explore!
Lovely place to look around and learn about the history of the site.
Really peaceful. The gardens were fascinating, and the stained glass in the church was amazing.
Also, totally impressed with our lunch in the cafe, lovely quality and reasonably priced; if nearby I would definitely consider popping back just for the cafe.
Had a great day with my brother and sister in law, we had our blessings from the monks and amazing cream teas will definitely go back with my daughter's.
Beautiful. Thoroughly enjoyed our visit to this beautiful place. Credit to all those who keep the grounds so lovely. Wonderful facilities highly recommend the on site cafe/restaurant.
Beautiful building with some stunning details. Excellent history display and first class food in the restaurant. Regardless of your belief it would be difficult not to be moved by the atmosphere.
Went back after 60+ years to see it finished
So beautiful so glad I made the effort
Massive Benedictine Abbey Site well worth a visit, a really beautiful peaceful place definitely worth a visit.
Beautiful place and so well maintained, lots to see and explore. Beautiful abby.
Well worth a visit, especially on a Sunday when there's a service on
I cycled to Buckfastleigh from Plymouth to see this amazing structure. The building is even more impressive in person. If the weather is good, this is a great place to visit.
It is a beautiful place, a year round! So tranquil and lovely to be. Just be! Sit in the presence of God right at the Abbey.
Beautiful peaceful place to visit. Not busy even in August. Recommended.
A beautiful, tranquil, space, that invites relaxation, to be at peace, to walk, sit, contemplate and pray. There is a wonderful Abbey, with a rich history to reveal and an interactive exhibition that illustrates that very well. There is good bookshop, gift shop, gardens and restaurant as well as a conference centre. You are Blessed by simply being here. Come awaken your senses... A monastery has been on the site for millennium in 2017.
Beautiful, peaceful gardens with little secret havens like the Lavender Garden. Abbey stands majestically. Friendly warm cafe with range of hot and cold treats. Accessible throughout. A place for contemplation or a coffee and catch up with loved ones.
A very beautiful place to visit. The Abbey is an incredible feat of engineering, considering it started with 5 pound and a horse and cart.
The grounds are lovely and a nice place for some quiet contemplation.
It is just commercial enough, with a lovely shop, really good cafe with locally sourced foods... Don't forget your Buckfast Tonic wine
Really interesting. Was doable with young children. Worth the trip
Very nice to see, well worth a visit. It does make you think about all the other abbey's that were destroyed..they must have been something really special.
This Abbey is a beautiful, peaceful place for a day out, i thoroughly enjoyed my visit and will go again.
A beautiful building, well worth the visit, tranquil and relaxing
A wonderful peaceful contemplative place. Church, gardens, tea rooms, shops. Be at peace every now and then.
Absolutely stunning place to visit so peaceful an tranquil. Managed to get lovely gifts and a bottle of the tonic wine also. Really recommend a visit if you are near.
It's part of the national furniture, everyone at some time in their life will get to visit it's a 'do' location and when you visit Fast Buck Abbey you will be done !......I don't think I have visited a more 'slick' operation in a catholic church anywhere else in the world. I am sure they are Disney trained. The whole site has money spending opportunities almost at every turn, the restaurant area can easily swallow up coach loads of tourists, and the shop is as busy as any in Oxford Street in the West End.
It's hard to think of a reason not to visit, the millions that have been before all speak well of the time they spent here, proving success breeds success !.....enjoy.
Buck fast Abbey is really lovely I would recommend anyone to go .the Abbey is out off this world and the gardens are really lovely and there is a cafe and shop and toilet and disabled toilets and it's all flat to go around.
Just love this place , beautiful gardens so Relaxing and tranquil
The Abbey is out standing both inside and out and absolute must to Herron say
Nice cafe on size for food and drink and free car-parking lots I can't go wrong
Peaceful and tranquil - the Abbey is a wonderful and beautifully kept...
A physical and spiritual stop near the Devon Expressway A38! The cathedral is impressive and very relaxing, take time to rest your mind and soul for a while.
The cafe is excellent too, reasonable prices, lots of room inside and out...best cream meringues ever.
Free entry and to the car park.
Have a stop, whether you are travelling from Devon/Cornwall or live local.
New museum is very informative. Restaurant has a good selection of quality food as a reasonable price. The gardens are nice to visit and the Abbey itself is very interesting. There is also more to this site that we didn't explore. Good for both old and young alike. Good access for the less mobile as well.
What a serene place! The Abbey is so peaceful. The catering facilities are adequate; the restaurant is clean and tidy; the food is hot.
Beautiful, peaceful, definitely worth a visit. 2 Great gift shops , lovely cafe. Can't wait to visit again. You don't have to be religious to enjoy this place.
Beautiful Abbey featuring some modern stained glass windows
Nice place to visit stunning abbey shame about the restaurant now closed. Can't understand why dogs not allowed around the grounds so must loose many visitors who have dogs
Grate for a few hours that dont cost anything to go to
Very polite and friendly staff, not just to visitors but even between each other I noticed. Always friendly, to with a smile and a pleasure to be around.
It felt quite safe during the pandemic with table service now in the restaurant which was very well managed.
The Abbey is if course beautiful. It's just such a shame that the pandemic head blighted the fun of just being able to take your time and look around without worrying about one way systems or this and that. But that have organised it very well and kept it safe.
A tranquil place to visit. Lovely gardens to wander round with a very good restaurant for refreshments. The Abbey is a stunning building to see and with lots of musical events. Various special days are held throughout the year. Entry is free with plenty of parking. All parts are wheelchair friendly with a slight slope to negotiate. But good accessible toilets.
Fantastic Abbey with amazing scenery outside as well as inside. The shop is very well stocked and toilets kept clean and tidy and cafe is great to eat in or outdoors
