Sunday night skiing for $10 is a great deal
Buckhill has been in business for an extremely long time. Great family fun
The plays sucks, unfriendly staff, so rude it s not even funny.
We had a great time here. My wife learned to ski during a beginners ski lesson and did great. Instructor was nice and helpful. It is nice that they are open late so we could keep skiing after her lesson. Hope to return soon
Fire works every new year Eve . Very nice place for snow tubing and skating.
Buck hill is nice, for the runs they have they are good and fun, definitely great time especially if you re a beginner and don t ski much and aren t looking for a James Bond style ski trip.
Great tubbing fun, prices should be 2-3 bucks less for Children, but it's all one price. Still a good place!
Not enough parking, too overcrowded. I just spent 35 minutes trying to get a parking spot and ended up just leaving. Nearly 2 hrs in my car for nothing.
Also last year I wasn't impressed with the staff. Apparently it's better to let a ski lift go empty than let a single person go up by themself.
The staff was very rude, so that made the experience even more Horrible, they make you pay for a helmet witch is Basic safety Equipment, I banged my head on the Slopes, and no one came to help...
Limited runs, easy location. U get what u pay for. Not the greatest but not the worst
The last time I went to Buck Hill the staff was rude and short with me. The majority of the people on the hill were snotty spoiled kids plotting to steal peoples equipment. Several people ran into my 4 year old son whom was probably the best skier on the hill without apologizing when it was obviously there fault. The lift operators were not attentive to anyone and rude to the other guests on the hill. I've been here several times before and it's been much better however this was the last straw. I'd rather go to a real hill that can actually treat a guest with respect. Not worth the $30 ticket. Go to Welch.
We went to Buck Hill on Friday night to take pictures of the tubers (hint: not potatoes).
Great place for beginners and advanced riders alike. Terrain parks, big air, to bunny hills and tubing. Buck Hill has it all.
Worked as a ski instructor in high school and college. Raced there in high school. Always have had a good time!
Convenient and close to me. Reallyblike taking the kids to buck hill.
Very nice place to spend time with entire family, kid friendly instructors and classes for beginners. We enjoy going to this place though it is little far from our home, I would definitely recommend this place for families looking to spend outdoor time in winter.
Lot of fun for beginners and average skiers, boarders.. Parking is sometimes bit hard to find.
Team Stanceout had a car meet there. High end dodge Ford Nissan some classics. A real hot rod. It was fun.
It is a fun place and I liked the fire that they have there
Went for a terrain race hosted at the hill. Organized and ample parking and hill offered some great trails! I will definitely be going to this hill again for running/mountain biking on their trails!
Our family has always enjoyed skiing at Buck Hill. We live in St. Paul and like the proximity, price, and snow quality for a quick day of skiing with our children.
We won't be returning anytime soon after our experience this past Thursday, Dec. 28. We knew the day would be challenging with the cold temperatures but our children were eager to get outside and ski. We bundled up and were prepared for the conditions. They basically have one good run down the center of the hill that we like skiing. However, we were appalled that they had the snow guns on, which made the run unskiable. To get to the other decent run, we had to ride up the chairlift with ice shrapnel blowing in our faces. My kids were miserable and wanted to go home after an hour. I spoke with a ski patrol about turning off the guns and he empathized but said this was an operations decision- that they have to blow snow when the conditions are right. Look at the current forecast- you can blow snow non-stop in the evenings for the next 3 weeks.
I have grown up skiing in the Midwest and never experienced this type of operation. You shut down the guns during the day and provide a good environment for your paying customers to enjoy- especially when we are paying holiday rates during the prime week of skiing in the year.
We will go somewhere else and pay a bit more to have an enjoyable experience.
Over priced compared to places outside the metro area but a nice place for beginners and intermediates. The staff have always been friendly and helpful everytime I go.
The staff are awesome and super friendly. Ryan took excellent care of us, didn't even have to ask for refills. Great place to spend time at. Food was great!
It's not big, but you can have some fun here. Looks like a great place to learn to ski and they've got warm welcoming chalet's
I'm sure it's a nice place but we drive 8 hrs to get up here and ski on the 4th of July weekend, planned our whole holiday trip around summer skiing here... only to arrive and find out they're closed. After looking on the website, there was a note posted about them being closed but it had to be scrolled down to on a the hours page and wasn't clearly posted. Very disappointing to arrive and find the one place open for summer skiing isn't open on the biggest weekend of summer.
Besides the lodge being outdated I enjoy boarding here
We brought our daughter tubing there and it was a lot of fun. There was a 10-15min wait each time to go down, but it was on a Saturday & holiday week.
The skiing and snowboarding hills look like a great time and I plan to try them out very soon.
The hill itself is pretty decent, but since I spend most of my time in the chalet between my sons comps, that's what I'm going to review. Starting with the waffle bar: Just don't. Unless they decide to train the staff on how to cook a waffle, I suggest skipping it. My waffle was literally raw and soggy. Next I tried a FRUIT smoothie. Don't let the name fool you, there's actually no fruit in it. It's made with colored, flavored syrup. I decided to just get a water. There's no water thing on the soda machine so they pointed me to the drinking fountain which had soggy animal crackers in it and what looked like throw up. I'm going to go outside now and just eat snow.
Took the kiddo tubing. Had a good time but spent more time waiting than tubing. It's not a free for all, they let you down in groups and dont let the next group go until everyone has cleared out at the bottom.
Went to other ski areas around the area, far prefer Buck Hill.
wow wow. great skiing time with the family and they HAVE sleds to take as well. i hit a kid, but he seems ok. yeah it s so much better than what i expected. FUN!!!!
I rented full equipment including boot's. I was there at 10:10 in the morning and received a pair of boots. When I put my hand in the first pair, they were soaked in sweat and a used foot warmer was in it. The second pair was only half as wet and the shop was very busy. I put the boots on and went skiing. Within 30 minutes my feet had wet socks and starting to get cold. Then after one hour of skiing my toes were super cold. I return to the rental shop and my socks were completely wet with ice cold toes. I informed the rental shop and they said all boots are wet from previous day's and we won't dry the boots. I returned all equipment and went home with cold wet feet. The staff on the slopes and selling tickets are great. They need to figure out how to dry boots or offer other options. Wet and cold feet don't make the experience work. I have been skiing over 40 years.
I enjoy buck hill but the slopes are pretty short. Cheapest place to go for late night Sunday: $15 7:30-10.
Myself, and everyone I saw there was having a good time - that's what a place like that is all about! Can't ask for much more, go and enjoy.
Had a really good time tubing and ate dinner it was good food and friendly staff!
Awesome place to go, close to the cities. Confusing the first time but always memorable
Its ok, the thing that bothers me is that the last time I came, my friend almost fell off the lift, go to Welch Village, its safer. He could have died, and yes he holds on. It was basically a heart attack for him, he was scared for his life.
New restaurant Buck 54 was nice, enjoy live music on patio.
Wonderful place much more for those who like adrenaline
If you want variety go to afton. Buck you can see it all when you park.
Closed a black diamond Hill for some reason. Overall, a pretty good experience.
Saw Little River Band at Buck Hill's Concert series. Great sound. Stood in one line for BBQ for a half hour or so, they were out of everything by the time we got up there, except mac n cheese.
Good amount of courses with all different difficultys and good prices
Took a private Ski lesson with Burt, he was an incredible instructor, so explicit and patient, I learned a lot in a 2 hour session. I'll definitely get back and ask for him to be my instructor again. Buck hill is a great place to ski and snowboard.
Went for the ski sale and was quite overwhelmed where to start looking. Received some very insightful information from several staff. Can't wait for snow!
Great place for taking the family or just going by yourself
I don't know if we will be able to make it to the meeting tonight but I will be there at Easter egg hunt at the top of the list of the things I do for you and your family a very happy and prosperous New year to you and your family a very happy and prosperous New year to you and your family a very happy and prosperous New year to you and your
The staff were rude and the tubing was kind of lame.
Great place for skiing with young children. Also they do a good job with the racing teams and obstacle courses to keep a relatively small hill compelling. They will have snow even when it seems hard to believe because they have such an amazing snow making ability.
Not tons of variety, it's a small hill but good value and very convenient if you're in the south metro. Great place for kids to learn to ski / snowboard or play around on terrain features after school.
Decent skiing, old chalet needs lots of repairs. Helpful staff.
Great hill! 10 dollar Sunday nights are hard to beat.
Perfect for a beginner or someone more experienced wanting to get outside for a few hours.
If you like going and paying too much money for too little hill, I guess Buck is the place to go. The only upside to it, is that it is the only hill close to the suburbs. And even then, I perfer to go to Welch (45 minutes away) over Buck.
Parking is the worst, they should have someone help directing the traffic. Outdoor heater is scarce, only 1 or 2 propane heater for hundreds of parents trying to stay warm and watch their kids activities. Pretty messy and chaotic place overall. I will look for alternative options next year.
