Great inner city zoo for a long day of walk. I've been coming here for years and I love how they are making improvements. I wish they had better food options, though. I like the parking that came with the membership.

Bronx Zoo is an amazing place to walk around while we see exotics animal, wild animals from America, Africa, Indonesia and Asia. On Wednesday is free entrance. However, they have special fees for Gorillas and a few else. I enjoyed my time, specially when i saw the tiger.

Have been visiting the Bronx Zoo since I was a small child and never ever disappointed.
The Bronx Zoo remarkably continues in its evolution for the better, in the care and health of most all its animals.
Again, as with all human made institutions/facilities, a slip is inevitable.
But once discovered, it needs to be corrected. The Bronx Zoo has always tried to accomplish a most magnificent job in that process, towards most all its animals. Much more improved since the 1960's.

This is truly a place to visit and support. With the hope that we will become aware of the beauty, and most importantly the benefit of all the animals on this planet, our planet.
Our most beloved home.

Notice traveling time by car is most often very long, with lots of traffic.
Therefore, I would suggest walking to the zoo. Or taking the Metro North Trains get off @ Botanical Garden exit. Then you will still have about 1/2 mile walk south to the Zoo entrance.
Best times are early Spring & Autumn seasons, when most of the animals will be out. And it may not be as crowded.
Always check the traffic and weather conditions before you leave home .

Be safe & alert in the Bronx. Oh yes, but beware of the lions, and tigers and bears.

This is really a lovely place to spend a day. The zoo is nestled within a lush landscape with many strolling paths and, of course, interesting animal habitats. The subway or Metro North rail both get you nearby, so it s quite easy to visit without a car. The food choices for vegetarians are a bit slim so take some snacks if you plan to stay a while.

Best zoo in the tri-state area! Family fun for everyone! Be sure to bring plenty of $$ and comfortable sneakers because exploring is the only way to absorb this wildlife kingdom. Will always come back to visit the lions and my favorite, the monkeys!

This is one of the best places to go in NYC if you have young children. It is stroller/wheelchair friendly with plenty of outdoor seating for picnic. Animals have ample room to roam around and not caged, so expect quite a bit of walking between exhibits. Staffs were nice and welcoming.

Here are a few tips for new visitors:
- Bring your IDNYC to the admission windows for one year of free membership
- Arrive early for free street parking
- Bring your own food and water

My husband and I had a great time at the zoo!! We took the train up to the Bronx from Manhattan and at the end of the train line we grabbed an Uber. The zoo seemed small and we didn't get to see the tigers that day, but it was neat connecting with the wildlife outside of the concrete jungle. Our favorite was the gorillas as they were very interactive. The zoo also offers beer which is awesome for adults. There is a shuttle which is nice for bypassing a few exhibits and getting to the other side of the park faster. The staff that works the concession stands were very nice. The restrooms were relatively clean. You can ride camels there. Cool experience and we plan on returning.

Not the place I thought it would be. The Bronx Zoo is a quite boring place, and their isn't much entertainment. Unless you like either the merchandise, or you are really in to learning about the animals, I don't recommend you go here.

Awesome place to spend your time with your family. Remember every Wednesday is free! It gets packed fast so I advisr to go early as you can. If you go on any other day and pay for the "All Access" pass, It will be worth the money.

I visited the zoo on a Thursday having missed place my membership card. Customer service representative was extremely polite and helpful, emailing me a temporary pass immediately. I rarely visit the zoo and or the five parks that I'm allowed to visit with my membership. But I don't mind, for it allows me to support their wonderful work. I'm from a very small island in the Caribbean and our zoo leaves a lot to be desired. Since the zoo is so large we plan to visit again to see the other parts.
The zoo was very clean, the staff very helpful and friendly escorting us to areas for additional help. I also felt safe with the NYPD presence. My grandson wanted to take a picture of the cops, and the cop offered my grandson to take the picture with them. With membership which I would highly recommend I didn't have to pay for the items I heard other visitors complained about, in addition it's a big tax deduction. A resounding heartfelt applause to CEOs, Directors, Managers and Staff - job well done!!!

My family and I really love the Bronx Zoo! Our 20mont old loves the free roaming "Kah-koos" (peakocks!). The animals always look so healthy and vibrant, and the zoo is very accommodating for all ages. My big reason for not giving it all 5 stars is that, despite being members for the last few years, early this month, when we went on a Friday (over a lot of middle/elementary schools spring breaks), parking (which we're supposed to get free as members) was totally shut down in all lots because they were all apparently "full." It was 1pm. People that had gotten there at open were already leaving. Despite seeing several open spots while driving by, the person "directing traffic" just said "find the nearest university and park there." I'm not familiar with the Bronx other than the zoo, and I had 5 children with me. NOT COOL. I was able to find free street parking a few blocks away, but I was quite disappointed with the lack of actual direction.

Free to the public on Wednesday's!! Use one of the ALTERANTE entrances (not the main!!), and the line is much shorter to get in on a Wednesday! The zoo will be very busy on the day that it's free but keep in mind you are in one of the five boroughs in New York City and it is busy in the city in general so be prepared.

We had a really nice day. It was rainy and the animals were active. Watched one snow leopard prowl right in front of the glass. The monkey house was closed, but there was a capuchin display on its outside that was still open. The giraffes were gorgeous, tall and close enough to see stride across the grass. They have a red panda! The carousel and butterfly garden are each an extra $6. The wait for Dinosaur Safari was about an hour around 10:30 am.

Nice exhibits but no animals in them (no tigers, lions, red panda, snow leopard or gorillas). Even the extra indoor gorilla exhibit had no gorillas. Not sure how this can be considered a top zoo in the country.

The best place to get in touch with nature no matter what your age or abilities are. There is always something new at the zoo. The young playful gorillas were so enjoyable to watch as there elders say like statues.

The zoo itself is great. The experience of visiting the zoo is a nightmare. Never before have I seen a bunch of obnoxious, undisciplined, very loud kids all in one place. Thousands of barbaric children are brought here on school trips and literally shove and body check you at each exhibit. Chaperones have no control over these kids and the zoo staff allows this behavior to interfere with the enjoyment of the other guests who want to bring their families here. I'm never returning to this place. I'd rather be on the other side of the fence with the lions. I'd be much safer.

This place has always been a worthy attraction ever since I was a child. It's a joy to know that still holds true as an adult. The best part of it all? I live just 15 minutes away, walking distance.

Surprised that you can see the animals so close! Beautiful conservation place. If you go make sure to go to the Gorilla' s section. It's an extra charge of $6, however, this is use for their conservation and high medical bills. Stop by the theater inside, the documentary is about just 7 minutes but you will get a beautiful surprise at the end!

Amazing experience. This was by far the best zoo I have ever been to. It's so unlike any other zoo my family had visited. The are really no bars most animals have a lot of room to roam. My kids had so much fun and were in awe of the habitats. Coming from Binghamton we didn't get to see everything we will definitely be back again.

Bronx zoo never disappoints on a good time. Do initially it was my daughter's class trip. We had total experience tickets. The only drawback was that many of the popular attractions ex. Children's Zoo, Congo, were closed for the season opening on the weekend of Easter. Bummer! BUT, my daughter and I did the Nature Trek and Whoa! What an exciting adventure! Became a kid all over again..lol. I also enjoyed the Bug Carousel. Look forward to being at the zoo again soon
