This is by far one of the largest and most diverse zoos that I have been to. We live in Brooklyn, NY and go every summer with the kids. This is a great family place but is also fun for couples. Make sure you take the tram ride around the park and go to the Congo section to get the full experience.

Sometimes getting into this place can be a ZOO especially in the summer & the free entry days. But the kids will love it once inside. Prices for snacks here are getting pricey I like to bring the kids juices from home when going here.

HOLIDAY LIGHTS REVIEW -

HOLIDAY LIGHTS REVIEW -

Went to the holiday lights event and was slightly disappointed. It was probably my fault to be honest but I thought it best just to let everyone know the following information.

The Holiday Lights event tickets let you in at 3pm but the lights don't start till 5pm. The park starts closing about 75% of its paths at around 4pm. The Holiday Lights event only gives you access to about 25% of the park. I am a tourist which probably explains why I did not know this. Nonetheless I wanted to share this info just in case you were expecting the entire park to be available.

The lights are indeed beautiful and awesome to see. There is a buttload of people who show up for this event so taking pictures is a hit or miss with the amount of traffic this event garners. It gets dark pretty early on, I want to say around 4:30-5pm which is ideal for good pics. If you get there any later you will be at the mercy of a million trampling people.

Also there is a specific pathway that opens specifically at 5pm- I actually skipped this because the line to enter this path had to be about half the park long and was getting longer - (It was probably at 8pm at this point)

Get there early if you plan to take full advantage of this event. Definitely 5pm on the dot.

Happy holidays everyone, hope this helps!

The Bronx Zoo is the best zoo in New York City. It definitely is the biggest. Its great for kids. There are animals from different continents. Visit only during spring and summer. I visited in December and most of the exhibits and animals were not available for viewing due cold weather.

It is easy to get there via the 5 train and a quick 10 minute walk from Westfarm station.

I like to get out to the zoo at least yearly. There are so many amazing visits. Use a AAA discount or student discount for a great deal. They are free on Wednesdays too, if you don't mind a crowd.

The Bronx zoo is a beautiful place but it desperately needs funding as a kid my mother would take me to see there lions and tigers and weather permitting bears it seemed magical. Now as an adult though the experience has been much less than magical many attractions are closed and the park is in dire need of a face lift. If you enjoy nature or animals then this is the place to come everyday not just on Wednesday's. Please come back they miss your patronage or if it's too much a bother to travel then donate check website and don't forget to get a Madagascar hissing cockroach for Valentine's Day, get someone you love the gift of a giant hissing cockroach.

I visit the Bronx Zoo every year and was worried that the pandemic would keep the zoo closed throughout 2020. Was so excited to hear that it was opening at 25% capacity, but a bit skeptical of how it would be safe. However, the zoo was absolutely wonderful! All the exhibits that are indoors are regulated, and you have to line-up to get in. Every high-touch area is sanitized regularly. It s almost better than before since you don t have to squeeze/climb over people to get a good view. So get there early, plan your routes, wear a mask and support the WCS!

Awesome place to spend the day. Do as much or as little as you want. The signs and exhibits are very well spaced apart in this clean, educational and fun place in the Bronx. Each time I go there, I get another memorable experience.

First time to Bronx Zoo and we absolutely loved it! Wanted to go because we have been watching the Zoo on Animal Planet and love the show. Everyone is super friendly & knowledgeable. Park is beautiful. Lots to see. We spent the day there and still didn't see everything. Definitely think we would go back again to try to see what we didn't have time for.
It was a little bit of an expense coming from New Jersey between the tolls, Bridges, parking fee and ticket fees. Not something we do everyday so it was ok. We would go again.

All around great place for children in terms of entertainment and education. Solid exhibits, but I do wish the animals had more space to roam. The annual pass is definitely worth while if you visit multiple times a year. Easy to navigate with a stroller. Not the best food options, so bring your own healthy snacks if you want them.

This place is amazing, even on donation Wednesday. Suggestions if you choose to go on a Wednesday.
1. Go as early as possible.
2. Expect long lines if you didn't get the inline reservations for the full activities pricing of about $15 for anyone over 2 years old.
3. Try to get parking in the street, as alternate side is not on Wednesdays.
4. Pack water or prepare to buy from outside vendors, on hot days.

I forgot how big this zoo is. I should of been there when doors opened at 10am. I wanted to be a child again as they had lots of activities for the children. I felt sad the polar bear is no longer there and there won't be another polar bear at the zoo. I imagine as they are declining on this earth, it's best they roam free, but thanks God for the Bronx zoo as there really isn't another place like this closer.

So big. It s almost overwhelming. It gets super crowded here. I wish it were more affordable to the average animal lover. Extra for this and extra for that. It is a business after all. You can spend 8 hours here easily so bring your comfy sneakers. I d say check them out.

I really enjoy coming here although every time I do come here it's with my school kids so I'm mostly chaperoning so I can't really enjoy it but I would recommend coming here with loved ones or with your kids for sure, it's fun.

Not the same place I remember as a child. Having recently brought my own daughter, it was a bit of a struggle to keep her occupied because a lot of showcases were closed.
The monorail has much to be desired in terms of providing the adequate habitat while keeping animals visible.

As an adult I now see that the climate controlled indoor monkey exhibit is basically a hall of mirrors, while the outdoor one was not open. My forty yr old memories are better than today s reality.

Some exhibits were closed or unexpectedly empty. Outdated information on main maps except paper map when you arrive. Otherwise great place, park stag incredibly nice and pleasure to deal with.

Have not been here since I was a child growing up in the Bronx (about 40+ years) and I came with my granddaughter to experience the change I heard so much about. Wow! It was amazing! Nice to have so much shady areas along walk paths unlike the old days where the sun just beat down on you. The trails and monorail were amazing! ONLY complaint not the fault of the park is the out of control kids with their chaperones that don't keep any control! We tried to go when we thought we could avoid it but no such luck. Animals behaved more civilized than the kids that went there.
