Impossible to see everything in one day, it's that huge. Wear comfortable sneakers, bring water and snacks as it can get pricey and add up. For example, a kiddie sized serving of Dippin Dots ice cream will set you back $6.

Wednesday's are free to the general public. It is PACKED, lines are long, you will need to keep a close eye on your kid.
If you can afford it, avoid Wednesdays.

What a beautiful Zoo... i personally do not like the zoo but i know why they are around (educational purposes). This so is surrounded by tall trees and now in the summer it is quite beautiful and green. Was excited to see the rhinos and elephants, but was only lucky enough to see the white rhinos. The elephants were not available to exhibit.

Sooo much bigger than i expected and the total experience ticket is worth it! Go to the monorail and the butterfly garden! Loved how everything was focused on wildlife preservation and protecting endangered species too

Love the Bronx Zoo. Wednesdays is free, but I would say to please give a donation. What an awesomely historic place. All the building structures where so fine in detail and craftsmanship. The animals, birds, seals, etc....were all so amazing. Its energizing when your there. Its a definite daycation for families, college students and who ever wants a good time. Best time to go is during the school year so its not crowded. Summertime is good to if you want the typical New York crowd. Make it a place to go
If you've never been there. Parking is available but public transportation is also an option. Have fun.

Holiday lights were absolutely amazing... but the food was by far the best the customer service and the promptness from the staff was absolutely amazing... if I can rate it 10 I would... they made my 4 year old feel like a princess catering to her... and the food was delicious.... thanks so much to all the food staff especially Ms. Sierra she went above and beyond for my family...

FREE on Wednesdays. Gets packed on that day too, around 12pm. You can get free parking on the street too if you get there between 9am and 930am. Just read the signs and make sure you're good in that spot.

A few minutes walk from Subway station West Farm Sq. line Red 1. Beautiful zoo to see lions, tigers, bears, etc. Besides general admission you can buy upgrades for several attractions such as Asia mono rail or Dino safari.

I watch the Bronx Zoo on TV so I wanted to visit the zoo in person while in town. It was wonderful! We took the subway train and it was so easy and everyone is so helpful at the station and on the street. I would come back again now we know how easy it is to get around.

This zoo is awesome you get a chance to see a little bit of Africa's animals. Such as Giraffes, lions, tigers, hyenas, camels and so on. They also have pinguins, sea lions, bears, Ostriches just to name a few. Please make sure you take your jackets as it is very cold while walking around in the Zoo.

Great place to go with young children and everyone in the family. Wednesday s are free but all services aren t. You may have to pay a little extra $15 but still cheaper than going on any other day!

A few ok animals but the zoo was very poorly laid out, got lost several times. Get the free zoo "app" from there website if you want to know where you are. This zoo doesn't even compare to the Seattle zoo or the Washington zoo which is free. Also couldn't walk anywhere without someone wanting you to pay for the premium experience.

Great zoo, cheap prices and an AMAZING day out! Map was a tiny bit difficult to read at times, but it was my fault i think.

The mouse house and sections of the reptile house were very hot and no ac, so make sure to bring water! Lots of water!!
Amazing and healthy looking animals/enclosures.

Not a fan of zoos in general. HOWEVER The Bronx Zoo (and others under the same umbrella) does a great job making the environments natural and helping endangered species. A must see for animal lovers (and free on Wednesdays!). Some of the volunteer educators are fantastic and extremely knowledgeable

It was good. I went with my children on a Wednesday, which is free, however, you have to pay for the attractions that are in yellow on the map: Gorillas, dinosaurs, carousel ... I did not like that the animals are seen from a distance, I would say very far. Also, they look tired and sad. Almost every animal was lying on the floor with no strength to interact. Very sad. Poor animals.

It is nice the place but should notify that animals are not to visit because we pay entrance to see all those animals and the truth is that there are only a few that can be visited and the prices of the whole zoo should be cheaper and more if You are a New York City resident that we could give a donation

The bronze zoo is worth every moment of one's visit, the staff is knowledgeable and polite, birds, reptiles, lions/tigers, elephants, trams and so so much more; please visit and if you get the chance visit the philly zoo also

I would highly recommend a visit to the Bronx Zoo. The collection is magnificent with many species not commonly seen in others Zoo's.
It is clear to see that conservation is at the heart of the Zoo's ideals.
The enclosures are very imaginative with great use of natural habitat theatre which is very atmospheric as well as educational. I very much like the appropriate mixing of species that may naturally occur in the wild as this enhances environmental enrichment.
Yes there is work still required with a couple of historic enclosures, but the Zoo as a whole is excellent and a great full and educational day out.

We were here for the brew at the zoo event. There are definitely a lot of drinks you can try and a lot of things to keep you entertained. There was a live band that plays classic rock (so glad they didn't play cheesy pop) while we were waiting in line. There was another band doing karaoke with people and I thought it was cool. The game room is awesome! It's basically free arcade games with open bar.
I'm also very impressed that at the end of the night the ladies bathroom was still very clean.
However, be aware that towards the end the will be drunks. There were crazy drunk girls on the ground; I saw a girl throwing up on the side of the load; a couple guys running to the woods. Hence the 4 star.
Overall, the organization did a good job. The 1 star off is really for people can't handle beer but come to a brew event.

Overcrowded and smelly. It seems that the city hasn't invested any money on that zoo for decades, and it shows, as their infrastructure is crumbling down. All the animals are hiding. Lots of mosquitoes. The entrance fee is way too expensive. The food and drink prices are outrageous. Don't waste your time or money here.

I m not a zoo expert, but as far as NY goes the Bronx one is by far the best. To see and enjoy everything you need to walk slowly around, and with a slow pace you need two days to go around the whole thing. But the experience is great. It s an enjoyable experience for kids and adults alike. I highly recommend it!

Polar bears in 90* weather? Elephants in confinement? Animals forced to give rides to people?? This zoo is anything but nice. Please do not visit. This is a cruel and disgusting zoo.
Terrible place that doesn't know how to take care of its animals. Please do your research before you visit any zoo.

Went to brew at the zoo event. Very well organized, they give you a small mug upon entry which you use at the beer tents. And it's unlimited! There are also food trucks and some animal exhibits too.

Nice to see them enforcing social distancing and making sure people actually had their mask on covering mouth and nose. While not everything was open still had a great time and a bunch of animals to see.

Disappointed for how big it is. went with bus group... some of whom were handicap and they would not let the bus drop them off by the gate. we got dropped off where we parked - the back of the parking lot by the exit. none of shops were open when we got there so could not buy a poncho. none of the little shops/dippin dots/food places were open throughout the zoo - only the main cafe and gift shop by the entrance. when the gift shop opened and we got back to it they were sold out of ponchos. several exhibits were closed. the map online is not up to date the 4D theater is not there anymore. you have to circle back past animals you already saw to see new ones. poor layout. I enjoyed the Cleveland zoo more.

Last Sunday we visited the animals. It was fun to see wildlife were doing well. But the pandemic had made every one suffer. Anyway, it was great to have some comfort seeing our animal friends.

The Bronx zoo is such a great place to spend a few hours. Went there for Mother's Day. The weather started off not so great, which I think is s perfect way to explore the zoo and help keep the crowds small but the sun came out and the family had a great day. If you have young children check out the kids zoo.

Overall a great experience as the it is really big and there's plenty to see. However, signs are a bit hard to follow, which made it time consuming especially if your time is limited. I would suggest going on Wednesday as it is free with an optional dotation.

I really enjoy going here although I haven't been here in a couple of years, I used to go there every year when I lived in the Bronx. I enjoy the variety of animals they have in the zoo and the activities for the children. I wish I could visit there more often because there is always something new to look at.

I love this place, I have been coming to the Bronx Zoo since I was a child and now I bring my daughters. They always have a amazing time. I know Wednesdays is free but I always prefer to come on a day where we have to pay because it can get crowded at times.

Go early on free Wednesdays. The line is going to be ridiculous. The food is expensive and I didn't get time to see everything. Seeing animals in a zoo really isn't much fun because they do absolutely nothing but sit around. It's not their fault but don't expect them to be active.

Go on Wednesdays to get in for free but if you want to see certain attraction there is a pay one price fee. I think is $15. That is cheaper than going any other day. Get there early so you have the whole day to be there.

Certainly not cheap, but 100% worth every penny. Paired with classic modern architecture the magnificent animal enclosures allow you to enjoy a piece of New York history and exotic animals from all over the world. The Bronx zoo is operated by the Wildlife Conservation Society so the money spent goes to global conservation. If in New York, don't miss the opportunity!!!!

The zoo is very expansive. Be prepared for a lot of walking but its worth it too see the animals in an environment that mimics their natural habitat. Buying the total experience tickets online is cheaper.
