Ok food, ok service. A little expensive for what it is.

Went on a recommendation from friends, and they were right, it was great! Delicious food and great Mai Tai's.

Cool spot with a view of poipu beach.... food and beer yum! I recommend the beer sampler and Coconut shrimp!

So I actually really liked the food and atmosphere here. It sits right on the beach is just open to the air and had amazing views. Food was good, but service was kind of awkward. It's hard to describe, the servers weren't bad, they were just a little strange, like hanging out around the table just kind of staring at us every time they came by like they were expecting us to do something. It was weird. Other than that I loved it though.

Our ohana loves Brennecke s and has always enjoyed the great food and service here, for the last 23 years that we ve been coming here!

The salads and drinks are amazing! Been here twice and would def come back. The only reason it s not a five star is that the prices are a bit high... But I guess you pay a bit extra for the great ocean view

Their beer isn't served very cold and the kitchen is slow. Perhaps it was a busy time, but my experience did not match the recommendations.

This is a great place to grab a bite if you're on Poipu Beach, it's right across the street and delicious, highly recommend the burgers :)
Note to the owner/manager- the food was great, but our waitress was exceptionally rude to us when we ate yesterday, Thursday afternoon. I didn't catch her name, but had a large sun tattoo on her right forearm and sunflower tattoo on her right ankle. We were discussing the passing (that very morning) of a family friend, and when we didn't acknowledge her immediately when she first came up, she stormed off, although she had already said "Let me tell you about our specials". She was clearly angry that I hadn't stopped talking mid sentence. It was very bizarre, and the rest of our interactions with her, she was curt and rude.

The food is good, the views are awesome, and the location is great. They are also one of the few places open late. Their prices were higher though, and it was beyond noisy! When we walked in we couldn't even hear the poor girl trying to seat us, let alone hear ourselves think. They had a live band playing and they wanted to sit us right next to it. Didn't matter that we requested to be seated elsewhere, it was still really loud.

This may actually be a plus for some, and I imagine it's quieter during the day, it just didn't work for us.

Located right on Poipu Beach, Brenneckes was recommended to us by a few locals. We were seated quickly, but did not get a chance to sit nearest to the ocean, which was fine. They are a second story restaurant so you can overlook the beach and feel the ocean breeze. Our server was Will, and we could tell he was a really good server, but he had so many tables that it took him a little bit to get to us when we needed something. We ordered the Pork Tacos as an appetizer, Fish and Chips, and the Gorgonzola Hamburger with Parmesan Fries. Although the Fish and Chips are the most popular thing on the menu, there are better fish and chips in Kauai, like at Dukes or at Tropical Taco. I did love the freshness of the fish, and the size. The Tartar sauce was very good, and I had to get extra! My husbands burger had an amazing flavor with the gorgonzola. My in laws come here every so often (they are locals) and they seem to always have to wait a long time when they come and eat here. It is expensive for what you get, I would recommend spending the money on somewhere else if you are deciding where to splurge.

Delicious food! The scampi and fish & chips were awesome. Just make sure if you're there by the window after the sunsets that you ask to out the screens down or you'll be enjoying a meal with a million bugs. Great food though and nice live music!

Had the veg wrap; was stacked which is awesome as usually vegetarian food can be on the weak side. Beautiful view, nice sea breeze, friendly staff.

Average food that is consistent with bar food. Service was slow. High prices. Lava flows not as good as I remember.

Their food and staff are top-notch! The waitresses were all very friendly and warm. They really made us feel welcomed and patiently answered all our questions. Their fish and chips were probably the best I had on the island. I highly recommend Brenneckes!

Had a bad experience here. Waited for 10 min just to ask for a table. Didn't accept any of our European cards. Didn't have some of the dishes at 7.30 pm. Food was good but portions were small for this amount of money. Try to avoid this place for a dinner.

Great atmosphere and wonderful food. Our server, Shaning, forced (not) me to try the pineapple IPA which was excellent. We had a great dinner and would definitely be back.

Friendly staff. It has a perfect view of the ocean. And the food was really good. The Coconut shrimp and gorgonzola burger were awesome.

Wonderful reception, friendly service and great recommendations. Good size portions and very tasty food. Coconut shrimp and Mahi Mahi was our favourite. Definitely a place to go for casual dining and great people.

Got food at the deli to take to the beach. Solid sandwiches and a good selection of treats of the kids are well behaved. Had their Italian hoggie and it was great.

A perfect location overlooking Poipu Beach! Lisa has been our server many times before and is fantastic! I had the Opah and shrimp special with curry and it was delicious! I'm not eating carbs and the cook gave me a super generous portion of veggies instead which I greatly appreciated. We try to visit here at least once a trip!

This place is right on the beach with great drinks, food, and friendly service. We shared a pupu platter of shrimp, ahi, pork, etc. We even booked a boat trip downstairs.

Nice location, with view over the ocean. The design of the place is more like a sports bar (t-shirts on the walls, television running...). The food was nevertheless very good. I can recommend the ahi poke bowl :)

Great restaurant with a view and very friendly staff! The Beach Burger Delux, wattle fries and the famous Mai Tai was perfect following a big hike! Will drive from the North shore again to eat here!

Excellent food. Substantive vegetarian options really hit the spot. My 4- and 2-year-olds enjoyed it. Great service. Nice ambience with live music and open air upstairs seating. Pro tip: We were seated immediately despite 1.5 hr reservation time stated on the phone.

Food is delicious but overpriced and very small portions. Convenient location right next to the beach! Wouldn't recommend if you are super hungry, but would if you are looking for a bit of very fresh seafood.

Honestly the best cooked fish I ve ever had. Mac nut crusted ono (wahoo) for $22?? You ve got to be kidding! Nothing like it. That dish is probably $38 at Duke s.

They must have a great chef. Usually remarkable. French fries A+, thin cut real potatoes nice and hot. Well-run place and worth every second. It started to rain on us last night and our server literally closed the side windows within 30 seconds. Couldn t ask for more! Remember to tip the band if they re playing!

Great Seafood Risotto! The menu isn't quite as extensive as in the past (fresh fish options), but thinking that is due to the pandemic so totally understandable!

Overall good. Food was good, not amazing. Good bar atmosphere. Live music at night. Make sure to walk to the beach to see the turtles on shore at night.

The food was good, but not the best we ve had on the island. The location is nice and almost every table has a good ocean view. We really enjoyed the fish and chips.

This place is everything we heard it would be. The fresh fish is presented in so many ways, and we were also able to modify some dishes for my vegan diet. The staff were very friendly & glad we were there. And then there is that STUNNING view of Poipu Beach!

Ambiance was pretty cool but seems a bit dated. The food was just okay.

The food is always great, drinks better and the view is the best! You can not go wrong having lunch here with the family or hanging out in the evening for some adult drinks.

Good but dont come past 6pm since they don't serve food downstairs (sandwiches) only shave ice.

Good food and service at, for Hawaii, a very reasonable price. Everyone in our party had something different and no one was disappointed. Atmosphere was typical Hawaiian beach restaurant, surfboards, palm trees; at sunset a nice view if the weather cooperates.

It is a quant restaurant located across from a park located on the waterfront. The restaurant is located on the second floor so you have a view of the Pacific Ocean while dining on good food.

The fish sandwiches we ordered were all great, as was our other food. Our drinks were terrific. Our server was incredible - it seemed she could read our minds. And of course, you go to Brennecke's first and foremost for the ocean front view.

Brennecke's sits on a second story, so she is not much lower than the tops of those coconut trees along the beach. And it's just across the street from some incredible snorkeling at Poipu Beach. Accordingly, parking is in high demand.

We'll definitely come back, probably multiple times per trip.

There is no place like this place. The drinks, the food, the atmosphere, the mood are all destined to be your favorite. Don't miss it!

Ahi tuna with mushroom ravioli was FANTASTIC! First of all I have eaten ahi tuna steak at many restaurants and so am very picky in terms of how it is cooked and overall flavor, but this tuna steak was great. The mushroom ravioli was simply packed with flavor and I could not wait for another bite. The flavors of the dish came together fantastically and the portion size was big, but I could not help but to consume every last bit including the extra sauce. And live music during the meal! I will return when on this island again.

Wait/ dining staff was outstanding. On the other hand the food was underwelhming. The prices seemed to be marked up 200% I had ordered the fish tacos and it was as if the shells had been stored for 4 weeks before being served to me as they were stale as could be. If your willing to pay excessive prices for underwelhming food this is the place to come.

Love the atmosphere and location but the food was disappointing. Burger was overcooked and tough. Blackened ahi was barely seasoned. Fish tacos were good but the accompaniments of black beans and slaw had almost no flavor. Mai tai was awesome.

Very Good Food, Service and Ambiance
This restaurant, located across from a beach park in Koloa, Hi was a great find. The food was great; as was the service and ambiance. I had the NY Strip Steak and scallops and my girlfriend had Macadimea Nut crusted MaiMai. We each had a organic green salad and Mango Ice Cream. The steak was a little tough, but otherwise, everything was excellent. Our server, Celia, did an excellent job. She was friendly, knowledgable and courteous. The ambiance was great. Most tables are by windows that overlook the beach park and ocean beyond. Prices were in line with other restaurant of this caliber in the area.

My wife didn't like it, but she is really fussy & moody. This is a beach side open air restaurant, my review is based on what kind of establishments it is. I saw several people ordering burgers, lots of ahi & other fish burgers. I had the "taste of local Hawaii variety appetizer. Ahi sushi, smoked pork, cevich'e, shark. That was filling for me. They are a busy popular place. They were timely with every aspect of our service. The view of the beach can't be beat and cute little bird fly up to the planters to greet everyone, then fly off. It's Hawaii, couldn't ask for more! Mahalo.

I'm not sure why people love this place, I get that the location is good, but the food is only okay. Nothing I've ever had here in the past 20 years is mind blowing. I need to lower my rating because the last time we went, the three ladies in our party ordered the Mahi Mahi salad and the fish wasn't cooked all the way through, it was gooey. Instead of comping the lunches we were offered one free dessert. Meh.

A favorite while near Poipu! Always great food and service.

Great location! I loved that I could walk right across the street from the beach to grab some lunch. You have to go through a small shop and go upstairs to get to it. The restaurant is breezy and you get a view of the beach! The food was just okay and pricey, but that s pretty normal for tourist areas. My waffle fries were hard as a rock. My virgin pina colada was delicious, though.
