Park Plaza is a 3 star hotel, and deserves a 3 star rating. 2 stars for the excellent location in Boston. I would give the hotel itself another 2 stars (very thin walls between rooms!), but they lose a star for their bait and switch "resort fee." I stayed there this past December for 3 nights. I had the same experience that other reviewers complain about - a "resort fee" that was not disclosed until after I confirm my booking. And, when I ask about what it covers at check in, the woman behind the desk told me that I would still have to pay extra to use wifi in the room (but lobby use is "fee - haha!). I was not at the hotel very much during my stay, and used the wifi at Parish, instead. But, what the heck is this resort fee, if it does not even cover the room wifi? Was a little over $50 for 3 night stay (and MA & Boston each also charge a tax on the resort fee in addition to the taxes they add to the room rates!).

Nice place, I guess, but who charges for wifi in the rooms anymore? Like many other hotels in the area, it seems dated and overpriced for what you get. Staff was nice but there was almost no order in check-in or out. One line? 4? 2? No one seemed to know.

Lovely place. Terrible staff.

Lovely place. Terrible staff.

The security, concierge, and management staff were AWFUL. Hostile and judging to people that don't "look like their ideal guests". Wait staff and housekeeping were mostly pleasant and considerate.

The family spent 3 days here while Boston. We had a 1 bedroom suite. We were generally pleased with the size and cleanliness of the suite, and the staff were excellent in attending to our needs. However for a suite the bathroom was inadequately small and much outdated. The sink counter was so small my children and I had to put our toiletries on the TV cabinet next to the bathroom.

Great room with great front desk service. The service in the bar and restaurant located in the lobby was terrible, the waiter we had on numerous nights was pushy and rude and O nky cared about you within his shift time.

My experience is similar to others on this page. The heat was not on, walls are paper thin, the bathroom so small the door could not be opened all the way, no chair--- and this was supposed to be a Deluxe King. Most staff members were pleasant but the doorman, Gene?, was extremely rude. Upon arrival the bellman told me I could stay parked out front until I checked in. Gene countered with " I am the doorman, see this hat?, and you will move your car now". I am not interested in a "sincere apology". If the GM is serious about my concerns she will offer a cash adjustment to reflect the real value of this property.

Terrible check in experience. I checked in on April 26, 2017 around 6:30 pm and the woman at the counter had just finished checking in another guest. Before I can step forward she raised her hand up and out and loudly said, "I'm not ready for you guys!"! Then she dialed and got on the phone. Clearly, a person who is wrong for the job and should not be in client-facing roles. Another receptionist (named Sergio) arrived and took over checking in guests. He also lacked polish and tried to make small talk which came across as simply ridiculous. I've stayed in this hotel before and have noticed a decline in the service quality of the front desk. The service in the restaurant, doormen, and concierge remain very good.

One of the worst hotel experiences I have ever had.
The entire building was under construction and absolutely disgusting. The rooms we've excessively small, and very hot. No room service. We were mis-informed of the cost several times so we ended up having to pay double the amount we were originally told. They also told us payment wouldn't be until we checked out of the Hotel which upon arrival we were charged $900+ and told we have to pay upfront. Only two elevators out of the six were working. The "free" continental breakfast was non-existent so they said you could go to the breakfast place next door which was $29 dollars per person. Everything about this Hotel was nothing but false information and overall disappointment. If I take another trip to Boston, I will never set foot back in this hotel. 1/5.

I came to the hotel drenched, and the lovely woman at the front checked me in and gave me my room keys. The room I went to was extremely comfortable and nicely lit. Definitely deluxe feeling, and a nice reprieve from the day's troubles. The bed was comfortable and everything was clean.

The best parts of this hotel was the lobby and location. Room was very small and bathroom was almost impossible to even turn around in. To expensive for what you get. Room service never got what we ordered correct. And as soon as you get out of the car every person that helps you basically waits with their hand out for their tip. I spent about $200 extra in tips because these people act like they are going to starve. I told one guy I had no cash and he wrote his name down so I could leave it for him later. Won't be back. Very cool lobby. And strip was an awesome restaurant.

The micro rooms (cozy queen) are not well designed. The shower is only slightly wider than my shoulders and I'm a narrow person, the shower curtain doesn't quite reach the bottom of the stall so the bathroom floor fills with water. Both sides of the bed have USB outlets, but mine was broken and my partner's side does not have a night table, ledge, or any place to leave his phone. The service was nice, and all of the employees I met were friendly.

Rooms: 3 stars, simply due to the small size even for Boston
Restaurant/Bar/Lobby: 4 stars, great options for convenience, very lively bar
Service: 4 stars, very friendly and helpful
Workout Facility: 5 stars

Very nice hotel. Beautifully decorated for Christmas and very packed. The rooms are clean and small. My tv did not work and the engineer took forever and multiple calls to come fix it and then was unable to fix it. So no tv for me even though I was looking forward to a long movie night in bed. Ugh
Otherwise the stay was nice. I did not order room service because it is outrageously priced so I got take out delivered to the hotel.
It was quiet and comfortable for a short stay for business. Right in the heart of Boston.
Getting around to find valet parking was a mission and cost $51. Once I got it the hotel lobby is like a maze I had to keep asking for directions to check in and elevator etc but there were plenty of staff around to help. I would give this place 3.5 stars if I could. For such an establishment I would expect working tvs and some option that wasn't too overpriced for room service

Room was comfortable and clean, location is great as it's near two T stops.

But, can't give more than 3 stars because of the terrible sound proofing. The walls are so thin one can hear neighbors on the phone next door. And lucky me, I happened to stay here while there was a wedding party going on in the ballroom. Even though I was on the sixth floor, the music was loud enough to be heard in my room. Bring earplugs.

Greatly frustrated, Rented had a room (#11084) for four days at this hotel during a convention weekend, the fridge was not working, and toilet all weekend would not flush properly. The would overflow (only liquid waste) if it were to be flushed more then twice an hour. (Very slow drain) the entire weekend our room would either have to go from the 11th floor to the lobby to use the public facilities or rely on nearby friends rooms when having to use the bathroom. Which made things difficult late nights when lobby bathrooms were closed for the night and cleaning. Multiple complaints and requests all weekend were brought to the attention of the front desk to no resolve, no compensation just fully charged for a room without a functioning bathroom. Absolutely disgusting

Very large hotel by size. The lobby resembles a station hall. Rooms ok but noisy because a lot of people circulate in the corridors at night. Offers attractive prices but forgets to tell you that Wi-Fi is $ 25 a day and that it is mandatory. In addition, they will charge you a $ 75 deposit per day upon arrival. 10d boom 750 $ debit. Fortunately I had several credit cards because the ceiling is quickly reached. In short, the area is not that great, as French luxury shops around. Dior, channel .... but nothing fun. Easy to find better and better locate

I really liked this hotel. My room was definitely very small and a bit awkward but it has the charm of a very old building that has been adapted over the years. I was actually really impressed by how clean and well maintained everything in the room is. I was pleased with the amenities in the room, the new lobby is beautiful (still under construction in places) and there is a brand new gym downstairs that seems really nice (if a bit snooty). It's really close to the park and I found lots of nice restaurants and stores within walking distance. Front desk staff was nice although the concierge didn't seem that knowledgeable to me. I don't remember how the cost compared to other hotels in the area. This place is not top of the line and if you're really picky about hotels and want some place luxurious, this is probably not for you. I enjoyed my stay though.

Fantastic hotel with great location, served by several restaurants around! Rooms very comfortable and great Continental breakfast! Exquisite and charming, it has a super well equipped gym!

The staff was exceptional, as we're the amenities. The room we stayed in was a corner room that had a very odd layout. In fact, you had to walk through the closet to get to the bathroom. Due to the door swing in the bathroom, the toilet was tiny too. Otherwise, the facility was clean and views were great!

I stayed here for 4 nights. The room was very clean and comfortable. The staff was great. They were always happy to assist with any questions. If you're planning on staying here during the Pandemic, please note that they have suspended valet service as a safety precaution. However, there is a garage less than half a block away with which they have a discounted rate.
The picture of the park is from my room, but I believe this hotel has more than 1 "tower", so there is probably a big variety in views.
The hotel is also very conveniently close to mass transit stops, and a very large park.

Horrible hotel. Booked two rooms. Called and upgraded one room to a one bedroom suite. They confirmed and also said they would book both rooms on same floor.

Then checked in online and both rooms were confirmed.

Got to hotel and they said they didn't have the one bedroom and it was never confirmed. Even though I gave them confirmation number & person I spoke with (Cynthia). Also rooms were 6 floors apart!

Talked to supervisor (Peter Holler) who was worthless and had no customer service skills. He told me that he wouldn't down grade us. What?? What does that mean? Rude and offered nothing but so sad too bad attitude.

Horrible customer service and reservations. Don't expect anything good from this hotel.

Beautiful hotel, beds amazingly comfortable, friendly staff.
Reason for 3 stars: no hotel in 2017 should be charging $20/day for WiFi. Additionally, not only does this hotel charge for WiFi, but they charge for local calls and toll-free calls!
The prevalence of luxury hotels charging for WiFi doesn't make the practice any less unrefined.

Please note: this is less about the actual money and more about the principle. I realize those of us who make decisions about whether or not to stay at a hotel based on whether or not they charge for internet may represent only a small minority of travelers; but, to those of us that do care, it's important enough to us that it's often a deal breaker.
As beautiful as this hotel may be, I will choose another hotel next time I'm in Boston.
