The prime rib had just a little too much fat left on it, but the atmosphere and service were top notch. If you are looking for a fancy steak eating dining experience in the Little Italy area, this is the place

Pretty great restaurant. I would definitely recommend to anyone looking to take their SO out for the night. Drinks are amazing. The food is hit or miss to be honest. The service and the ambiance make up for it.
So my wife and I went in there to get dinner and ordered the steak Diane and the beef Wellington when they came table side to cook the steak Diane the Pan had too much oil in it and when they turned it to face us to do the Flom Bay The hot oil splashed all over my face and in my wife's purse... I complain to the manager and the manager said what do you want me to do... When I got my bill the waiter told me that the manager took off the steak Diane because I didn't like it not because they burnt me...and yes I still got a bill... Horrible place if you're gonna go there make sure you have burn ointment on you
Can t speak for dining experience in the actual dining room downstairs. We opted to go upstairs to the bar for happy hour and wait until the dinner menu went live at 5pm. The decor and vibe is VERY Great Gatsby-esque, with a healthy dose of snark that the consortium holdings group seems to use in their menus.
The happy hour food was just alright. The spam musubi had obviously been made hours before. The rice seemed slightly undercooked. Although I did appreciate the housemade spam, as it was less salty and greasy than regular spam. The grilled oysters were legit delicious. The spritz was decent, but the Sherry Cobbler (unpictured) was like delicious, basic, PSL-loving juice. Totes noms.
Now, the wagyu. OMG the wagyu. In my entire life, there have only been, 3 occasions in which I ve literally had to put my cutlery down to fully experience the fabulousness of whatever I was eating in its entirety. This was one of them. That s all I can (and want) to say about that.
Bottom line, go eat upstairs at the bar, while looking at the Little Italy/downtown SD skyline. Worth an experience.
Awesome place, I highly recommend. Atmosphere is very chill and different from normal day to day experience. Customer service is very attention to detail.
It's best to make a reservation if you want to eat dinner. If you don't care about dinner head into the bar. There's upstairs and downstairs. The upstairs tables and bar open into the sky. It's beautiful to see the skyline while sipping on a well crafted cocktail.
Beautiful place! The eyes are wondering and loving everything they see. And then the food comes out and now it's time for your taste buds to enjoy. I love THIS PLACE FOR EVERYTHING.
Stopped in here for some after dinner drinks. Although a steak restaurant, it has a nice bar area and the decor and ambience was very cool. The cocktail selection was pretty good and they had a good choice of wines as well.
Good food, swanky decor although it's starting to already become run down. Great positive service staff. The major complaint is that they have terrible air conditioning. We were melting during the entire meal and the wait staff were visibly sweating. NOT a good look for a splurgy dinner. Bathrooms were pretty but total sweatboxes. Quite gross really. I guess they really are going for the true 1920's vibe. Literally, the HOTTEST place in town.
Delicious food. Great and strong drinks. The ambience is weird the music is loud probably to try to get over everyone talking but its weird. But I'd go again but at a less busy time.
Overall this was a very over the top experience in a good way. The food was delicious, the atmosphere was really cool and fun - have to knock a star because it definitely took longer than necessary for our food to get to us and service wasn't to the same level as it could have been.
That being said, this was a great experience and I would definitely recommend a stop in for dinner.
Indescribable. Ambiance and service are top 10 in the world. Art Deco style in little Italy in San Diego and the service is perfect. Agin' them steaks ain't bad either.
Very cool atmosphere and impressive selection of cocktails and wine by the glass. Coming from LA, I was surprised this even existed In SD. Shut up and come here
Great service and delicious food. The staff was super friendly and accommodating. Will come again if they let me! The only thing I'd like to mention is that if you are not actually sitting under the open sky it can get very hot behind the glass. But that is purely informational, not intended to dampen the glory of this place.
The beef Wellington was magnificent, and plenty of food for two people. The loaded hash browns and bone marrow with escargot were also excellent. Broccoli was slightly underdone. Drinks were tasty but expensive. The interior is beautiful and the tables are comfortable, but the place is usually packed so it's pretty loud.
The ambience and architecture are beautiful. The wait staff and service are impeccable. The food was overall good, but overpriced and certainly not worth the full day of food poisoning that I ve had. Worst next day ever. I m dying. Not literally, but FML.
Went here for an anniversary dinner and it was great. The service was awesome from everyone that stopped by the table from our waitress, the mobile bar tender and the dude who wished us a happy anniversary and gave us a card. It also has a cool atmosphere that sets it apart from what a lot of new restaurants are trying to do now. The most important part, the meal was amazing to, I had the filet and my wife the chicken both where great.
The experience was great. The atmosphere was set beautifully. The building itself has sooo much personality down to the restrooms. The employee are so pleasant and helpful. And will help figure out what you want. At the end they gave us free lil desert treats to enjoy. But all of our lobster was dry and tough. Someone in our party didnt enjoy any of her food.
Amazing place for a meal! 6 stars. I am from Texas so I am no stranger to a great steak. I have to say this was probably the best steak I have ever eaten in my life. Cooked perfectly and aged to perfection. The steak tartar and snails were incredible. We also had the meatball (how great can a meatball really be), it too was delicious. The sumaie helped us pick a great wine. Our server Josh was attentive, I formative, and truly made our experience a memorable one. I highly recommend.
My favorite restaurant in Little Italy! Food and service is always on point. Super trendy and chic, if you re looking for a good steak house Born & Raised is the place to go!
O..M...G.... This place is sooo good you ha e to come back again and again to try it all, our waiter was very professional, and knew how to pair food with beverages. The ambient is classic and comforting, very kick back elegant place, and it reminds me of The Great Gatsby. Get dressed up, be classy, have fun and enjoy it all, there isn't a bad choice here
This place is great for ambiance and cool vibes. Food is just ok and for the price, youd expect it would be far better than what they dish out. Go for happy hour drinks and eat elsewhere in little Italy.
This place is stunning, totally Great Gatsby vibes! The food and presentation were on point and did not disappoint. Went upstairs to use the restroom ( the pinstriped walls and toilets were unlike anything I've ever seen) and the second floor bar is definitely calling me back!
Warning: Don't go for happy hour - they treat you like cattle - they clear the table and begin cleaning before you are even done eating.
We went to B&R for happy hour to decide whether we would like to come back for dinner. The experience was awful. Happy hour is 3-5 and we were seated at 4. At 4:10, the server came over and told us that we should "hurry up and order" because happy hour was ending. We ordered food and drinks. Half of our food order wasn't put into the system. After we finished the food that did arrive the server came by with our check (it was 4:30). We told him we were not done and asked for our missing food.
A minute later, a bus boy came by and started clearing our appetizer plated and silverware. We said we were waiting for more food. He said he would bring out new plates and set-ups. He didn't.
A few minutes later, a different bus boy came by and started wiping down our table while we were SITTING THERE WAITING for the missing food.
The missing food finally came out at 4:40. The server came by with our check. We told him that we wanted to put in 2 more food items and another round of drinks. He rolled his eyes.
The drinks came out. A bus boy came by asked us if we were finished. We said no. A few minutes later a different bus boy asked us if we were finished, we said no. A few minutes later, yet another bus boy came by and tried to clear the table. We said we were not finished.
Our final order of food came out around 4:55. A bus boy came and started taking our appetizer plates and silverware before we even started eating the food. There was a bus boy standing right behind him with cleaning items to wipe down the table. They took a few steps back when we said we were not finished and proceeded to watch us finish our food, then took the plates and silverware the second we were done.
The server came by with our check and said "If you are paying by card I'll wait here for your cards."
The experience was terrible. Our bill was around $200 and we were treated like cattle. The food and drinks were great, but the service did everything short of physically throwing us out to get us to leave.
They might have had a reservation for 5 - but you cannot seat people for a happy hour that ends at 5 at a table you have reserved at 5.
We live in the neighborhood and WILL NOT EVER come back.
This is our third time visiting in a week. We came for a real estate conference. This is by far the best service and food we have encountered within that week. We met Joe and Louise... Both Joe and Louise were amazing!!!! Do not call Joe a ginger... Tell him he is Auburn the Japanese wagyu was absolutely mouth watering... it melts like butter in your mouth. The filet was was also astounding! Make sure to try the leak side!
UPDATE: Went last night Saturday April 27th. Had drinks upstairs, rude bartender. Along with being unfriendly, he shorted our pour of whiskey, the bottle was just about empty, he didn't fill the jigger for our drink, instead he poured the remainder in a separate glass and when he thought no one was looking at him he drank it. When you spend $70.00 on 4 drinks you expect friendly service and the appropriate pour. Management needs to remind staff they are there to serve.
Can't say enough positive things about this restaurant! The service and food are amazing. Cocktails impeccable!
Ordered a burger it was not good. It tasted like liver. They said it was aged beef and it would have a different taste. I ve had aged steak and it s never had a livery flavor. And not a pate liver favor. The fries where redeep fired. They had that dark color and limp they get when you reheat them.
Sorry I just tell it like it is. Nowadays everybody is a critic I m not a very good one.
Incredible!! This is what San Diego has been missing! This place looks unbelievably cool! I felt like I was in the movie Wolf of wall street half the time. The service is next level good. Friendliest most accommodating staff i ve had the pleasure of interacting with in San Diego. On to the drinks! The bartenders are extremely good at what they do. The rooftop bar is excellent! After my third visit I am extremely pleased with every single one made for me. We ordered some table-side Manhattan s... fantastic! The Filet mignon melts in your mouth. The side of potatoes is ridiculously good. My new go to spot!
Gorgeous decorated restaurant. Beautoful decor and amazing service. White table cloth service without the table cloth. Had dinner on the roof on a friday and had an amazing time. Great steak tartar and caesar salad made table side. Steaks were great. Definitely would return.
Rooftop turns into quite a bumping social spot where it's easy to meet people ad the night goes on.
Want to feel special? Go here. You will enjoy the finest aged meat and feel like a early 20's mob boss, drinks, desserts, service all amazing. Really special interior as well.
Love the cool vibe here.Think of a very High end Chicago steak house. Beautiful wood, heavy brass crossed with hip hop R&B. Think WuTang Clan crossed with Frank Sinatra. We felt so relaxed and chilled. Thanks to our amazing waiter Trevor. He didn't push. Educated us on the restaurant, the menu and the bar. If he couldn't answer a question he went out of his way to find an anwer. My wife and I started with the traditional Caesar salad. They were unable to serve tableside due to Covid precaution which we totally understood, Tasted as great as if Cardini s in TJ made it. My wife chose the 8 oz filet with dungeness crab and bernaise sauce. I had the 20oz dry aged bone in ribeye. Both came out perfectly cooked right on point. Our side dish was dirty hash browns with creme fraiche and caviar, so rich and decadent. Trevor gave me a brief cool short tour of where they dry age in building as well as the amazing kitchen. I kinda geeked out at the detail end planning they did to make this happen. Loved this steak house. Now my favorite . I want to take my family here. Thanks to Jonas the GM for stopping by he has an amazingly tight well trained staff. They make him look good.
Overall food is good... Not great or super impressed with the steak or side order choices. Not really a fan of the upstairs seating unless your with a group. Your practically sitting with the table next to you.
Service and atmosphere was extraordinary. Nick, our server, walked us through the menu and welcomed constructive feedback after eating our dishes. The Japanese Wagyu steak was cooked to perfection and tasted like beef-flavored butter, melt in your mouth! The staff and cuisine made our 5th Wedding Anniversary such a memorable experience.
If you search, they indicate that this is the best steakhouse. Well, ... A nice 7.5 I would give it, taste of food was okay, but the worst is the acoustics at the expense of the decor. Music stands hard so that a good conversation does not work with the food.
The atmosphere was great. The drinks were fantastic. The desserts were delicious. The chicken was amazingly moist. But the dry aged bone in New York steak was literally the worst steak I have ever eaten. It was encased in fat but somehow had no marbling. It was a chewy mess, almost comparable to bubblegum. Because I haven t had a dry aged steak before, my review is not taking into account that I thought it tasted like an old Walmart hotdog. Maybe that s what dry aged is supposed to taste like that.
Beautiful restaurant. The steak was good, not great. I would rather a Morton's steak. Service was good even though one of our servers wasn't knowledgeable about the wines we liked and brought us a bottle of wine we didn't like from his suggestion.
