Came for my birthday. Our server was cool but the food was unsalted and my steak came out raw. I love rare/medium-rare but this was truly "blue". Disappointed because I had hyped up the place to my girlfriend.

Wagyu in San Diego! This is not a drill definitely worth a try if your into something that is different from your typical steak house offerings. Recommended for any special occasion and be sure to save room for desert, they will tease you with the chart the whole night until your meal is done and ready for the sweet something. Wagyu is sold by the ounce and I'd recommend for sharing for two people about 10 to 15 oz. You're welcome.

I did not have the opportunity to eat at this pretentious establishment because of the lack of service at 5pm. After 15 minutes at this pretentious overpriced restaurant in Little Italy and you have still not been acknowledged by the numerous employees it is usually a good indication it is a time to go.

Very sophisticated. The upstairs fire posts keep you warm from the cold air that enters through the balcony. I love the inside architecture, the lighting is very cozy. Great place, great food!

I have not been here for dinner but they have a marvelous rooftop bar with a great selection of spirits and a lot of fine scenery

this is literally the best meal i have ever had. the mac and cheese is AWESOME, the steak was cooked to perfection. the interior of the building alone is incredible. we WILL be back for another round in the future!

Went just for drinks but the experience and ambiance is exceptional. The restaurant is beautiful, the employees are friendly, and the drink selection is second to none. Oh, I had a bite of the wagyu and shrooms and it was goood. Be ready.... $$$$$

This place, from start to finish, was awsome. My daughter chose this place for her 30th birthday. The staff was very upbeat and confident in their jobs. The food was...WOW! I can't began to describe. I've never tasted ordinary ingredients so good. The way they put things together allowed you to taste everything.

If Gatsby were to open a bar I think this is what it would look like. Only stopped in for cocktails but they were very well made. Similar price to other downtown cocktail bars at 15$ and the bartenders were friendly and had a wealth of recommendations.

My wife treated me to some ridiculously good steak last night. A 45 day dry aged ribeye steak with shaved black truffles on top. It was decadent, like blending the flavors of a good steak and aged cheese. The pistachio cream puff was also fantastic. They made this place like a 1920's luxury art deco restaurant, with table-side made salad/cocktail/dessert. Service staff is exceptionally dressed in dresses or tuxedos. It a nice blend of modern and nostalgia.

Where it didn't feel so luxurious, was that the tables were really close together. My wife is tiny and she had a hard time squeezing between the tables to get to the other side. Another side effect is that it is loud in there. Since you are so close to your neighbor, you have to compete in volume to try to hear each other. If they just took one table out of the row, it would make it much better. Try to get a booth, because those are much roomier and contained.

Ordered the beef Wellington for two. The flavor was out of this world!

What an amazing experience. Had some Manhattans that were made tableside and the steak sampler. The Japanese wagyu wad so tender that it nearly melted in my mouth. I will definitely be back on my next visit to San Diego.

Great setup. Get a table upstairs if you can for the view. Food was excellent and service was very professional.

SCENE-YYY! Maybe it was because it was a Saturday night, but the place was loaded with people dressed up wanting to be seen. It made for fun people watching. We only had drinks, no food. Drinks were very good, decor was pretty awesome - although we watched as a bar stool fell apart in front of our eyes.

Stumbled in from out of town without reservations and opted to sit at the bar. So glad we did as Julio made us feel welcome and provided excellent service with both drinks and a full dinner. Food was excellent, drinks were perfect and Julio was the man . Thank you, we will be back.

I have been here many times, I went for drinks and as usual, had a great experience. I love the quality of drinks, we a sidecar and an espresso each. The sidecars were wonderful and the espressos were perfect, not too bitter and strong. This place is a great place for a special night out or just to grab a couple of drinks. Love this place.

Came here on a Saturday night and it was packed. Very lively, upstairs theres a cute bar area. Unfortunately they dont serve food but it's great for drinks

Quite possibly my all-time favorite foodie experience in San Diego. Wow. Food is elevated, service is impeccable, and the atmosphere is to die for. Worth. The. Money.

I walked in the lobby ...the gentlemen who was tasting wines got up and asked me who I was looking for...I had a job appointment @3pm...needless to say I spoke with the maddam and was dissapointed, by the comment she made... "first impression" ...she wasnt delighted....I hope the food taste better than management....very poor...

This place is LOUD. The food was delicious, well prepared, well seasoned and beautifully presented, but it is LOUD. I know that is the current trend to make it feel like you are at a big party by all the hard surfaces which reflects the sound. This place is LOUD. The tables were very close together making a private conversation with your loved one questionable. Don't come here expecting a quiet romantic meal. The place is beautiful fan vaulted wood columns everywhere. The service was great. We ordered a number of appetizers. Lobster Bisque was great, with plenty of actual lobster. The Spaghetti with uni was delicious and beautifully presented. The pan seared foie gras with olives, grapes and a ricotta Parmesan cream was fantastic and visually very attractive. The robuchon potato were delicious but how can you miss with mashed potatoes if you put enough butter in them. I know this is a steak place and we didn't order one, but it was kind of sad to see the tables near us who did order steak receive there order unadorned on a plate by itself. Prices were in line with what you should expect. Not cheap but if you have 20 something hearing and don't mind having to speak loudly or strain to listen to your loved one the food is great. Did I mention how LOUD this place is.

4th visit all were great except this. Ordered prime rib 8t was fatty and grizzled. Dinner for 4 took an hour and 25 min
to be served. Expressed disappointment 3x before any one responded.

Visited Born & Raised when they first opened. For a year, I watched the construction of this upcoming expensive restaurant and was waiting in anticipation for it to open.

The atmosphere and decor is definitely beautiful with that contemporary and modern feel. When you walk in the restaurant it looks huge. Check out the rooftop (restrooms are up there anyway) it also has a bar and tables.

I opt to sit in the main dining room. You got servers making martini's or specialty drinks right at your table. LOL, check out the mens shorts and "chucks" aka converse shoes.

TIP:
The restaurant is loud but you are able to have a conversation with your date.

I'm a carnivore and I LOVED my steak. It was flavorful and tender. The only negative I personally don't like is having someone else cut my steak. I wish they could've served it whole instead of cutting it into pieces for me. Otherwise, the meal was worth the money spent. The other dishes were also yummy.

Our servere, Arnold, was nice and attentive yet gave us our space.

So looking forward to returning to Born & Raised again.

This is a must go to. The food is the best in town and the service is top notch. The steak tartare was the best I have ever eaten. Everything about our meal was great.
Be sure to make reservation while you are in town.

I try never to say always or never or the best , but this is by far the best dining experience I ve ever had. It s the best restaurant I ve ever been too and I ve been to so many Michelin Star and/or James beard winning restaurants all across the US. I can go on and on about this place but just know, from the moment you step in till when you step out, it is an experience of a life time that I ll never forget

I love the concept. Seems a little pricey, but that neighborhood can probably sustain the model. I would go back for a special occasion.

Steak and mashed potatoes plus ice cream made at our table for dessert was great.

Absolutely beautiful with a staff that excels in service. The selection of meat is amazing, as well as wide, and the Old Fashionded drink is made top notch! This is a polished wood and brass kind of place. And, it is completely perfect for any kick back to fine dining occasion!

Burning my fingers pretty bad so that sucked and is why I m giving 4 stars - Staff should be trained to warn guests when scalding metal platters are set down.

That said i d still go back, the interior design is stellar.

All I can say is Wow! Great food, people and drinks. A little pricey but well worth it!

Upscale steakhouse. Not a big fan of aged beef, but I love my filet mignon. We weren't a real fan of most of their sides, but the carrots were good. My husband loved his prime med and the sides that came with it.

Gorgeous location that should be explored at least once, to and fro, top to bottom, including the kitschy yet classy les toilletes.

Staff works well together to provide a memorable experience and ensure everything is as expected and more. Hand written BAR notes when you are celebrating a special occasion round out the personal touches here.

Cocktails are crafted with care and the wine list appears to have had as much attention paid to it, and includes the refined and the funky.

That leaves us with the food which is equally memorable. Steak is the main course here so even though I didn't order a steak I did get the tartare as an appetizer and I was blown away. [I just drooled a little].

Be warned though that all this goodness comes at a price, and that price is... well it's actually price. Expect to pay $200+ per person for the full experience described above.

The food was delicious. The steaks were prepared very well and the service was superb. Definitely high class feel and environment but the staff was very helpful and understanding and answered all of our questions without making us feel ignorant. Definitely will visit again. It is what it is, a fancy steak house with New York price. But they bring it when it come to quality so it's worth it. The table side cocktails may take sometime depending on the nights so don't be surprise if it take 15 min for them to get around to your table, but your waiter will let you know should you want to change. Food is on point, steak is as expected and of course cocktail does not disappoint. The restaurant is beautiful and I love how the wait staffs, keep in formal with a nice SD twist, come and you'll see :) Their quality is good but don't take themselves uber serious. Some will said it's a hipster thing, I just think it's fun. Obviously it's a special occasion kinda of place, unless your pocket is deep and you just wanna roll high all the time.

I've been here a few times and I have always had a very pleasant experience. It is SO COOL inside, the food is great, cocktails are delish, and the staff is awesome!

The whole experience would have been perfect had there not been a disorderly drunk guest upstairs near the bathrooms in front of the guys only toilet that reads d..ks only . The restaurant was unbelievably enjoyable to be at until a certain point. The waitresses and waiters were on point, very helpful and pleasant to talk to. The restaurant was beautiful, clean and comfortable to stay in for as long as you like, we were there for around 3 to 4 hours. The food was undescribably good and in fact we will be going back there just with a certain knowledge that we would like to pass on to you! ...Women should not wait alone in front of the bathrooms and the bartenders seem to not have discretion in over serving customers alcohol who might otherwise need to be cut off. Like most people who will go to a restaurant of this nature who serves great drinks that are a bit pricier than a dive bar or bar, and food that is nowhere near bar food. Like I said the food was amazing I recommend the aged ribeye! ...You expect not to have any issues with any other guests. Now sometimes that can happen but like most people we will go pay more money to not be hassled by other people who cannot handle their alcohol or bartenders, waitresses, or waiters and or management that does not know when to tell the customer they need to behave themselves or remove themselves. Before that unpleasant individual harasses someone else s wife like they did mine who was standing in front of the bathrooms waiting for a bathroom to become available. Now had management assured me the person would ve been removed and or done something to say sorry it would have helped reset the night as this happened at the end of our meal while paying the check. But even after reaching out to them the following day we have had no consolation. So all in all it was a wonderful restaurant and almost the perfect evening along with the perfect food but that was our experience. Hope it helps.

Best meal I've had in a long time. The beef tartar is about the best I've ever had. Do try the hash browns as a side to whatever steak you have. Great service in a very nice atmosphere. Will definitely be back.

Very nice environment, and wonderful staff. Great for a date night with nice views. It can get a bit pricy but it is definitely worth it.

This place is five star service through and through. The food was delicious but the Wagyu steak was our favorite! The view is beautiful from the second floor. we would absolutely recommend this place and we'll be coming back we would absolutely recommend this place and we'll be coming back again.

Cannot begin to say how great the food was. The fingerling potatoes were the best thing ever. Our waiter Jared was the best. So knowledgeable about the menu and a great conversationalist.

We really enjoyed our visit. We sat upstairs and happy we did. Beautiful yet comfortable. About a 20 slow walk from the train station. Highly recommend

Surprisingly, I also ordered the table side Ceasar and it must have been the best Ceasar salad I have ever eaten.

Not that great. The design looks good but is rather uncomfortable. Very loud (even early in the evening), the tables are crowded (hard to get in and out) and they have really large bases which leaves no room for your feet. I sat in the booth, which looks cool, but had no padding and was very hard. The service was good, hostesses were a bit cold (no smiles), but the waiter and support staff were attentive. The food was okay, but not that great. Our table had a wet aged NY strip (over cooked and sent back), a dry aged porterhouse (it was fine, but make sure you like dry aged meats as it does taste quite different) and a lobster thermador (not very cheesy). We also ordered a table side Caesar salad, French onion soup, and lobster bisque, all of which were solid, but nothing to write home about. Overall I don t think I can recommend this restaurant versus other steakhouses in San Diego.

Very cool atmosphere but the food does not meet the hype. Honestly had a pretty mediocre meal and was not impressed at all. My steak was terrible and our apps were very bland and not anything to get excited about. The veg tar tar was definitely the best thing we had. The steak was comped but that Didn t even cover half of what was bad. Anyways I wish them luck but I will not be returning for food.

the food was so savory. certainly worth a return visit. the place has a cool atmosphere. this place has positive reviews for a reason.

When you go to a place to spend money its not ok for both host at the door to be into themselves talking to each other like you don't matter. Then when you address them they act like they don't care and mess up your seating like you don't matter. The steak i ordered was not cooked right. The knife was dull couldn't cut the meet and it took 10 minutes for them to bring me one that worked "ok". Drinks up stairs where over priced for so little watered down... didn't live up to Its expectation don't waste your money or time.

Amazing steakhouse with the look and ambience of a fancy restaurant but the feel of a chill hangout spot. I thought it was cool how all the employees wear either chucks or cortezes and wu tang clan memorabilia everywhere. The dry aged steaks were delicious and sides were big enough to share for 2 people.

The steak sampler was worth every penny, with a variety of different aged and prepared steaks. The carrot cake was one of the best I have ever had. The atmosphere is one of the more luxurious outdoor seatings you will find during this pandemic.
