After evacuating from hurricane Irma and driving 8.5 hours, we arrived at this Marriott at around 1130am-noon. They advised us of a strict 3pm check in time. Having a small animal with us we decided to wait outside for 3 hours. At about 245pm I asked when we would be able to get into a room, the lady said I'm hoping about 330pm. That was a little irritating considering we had been there so long already. 330 rolls around still no room. At that time we brought all of our things in and sat in a hallway. There was a German Shepard dog that was allowed to bark at other animals and people the entire time. How could they allow one animal to disrupt the entire lobby? How hard is it to send them outside if they can not behave? After 4pm is when I was told our room was ready. The toilet seat was broken and sliding side to side like it was going to fall off, called to see if maintenance could fix it, think they ever came? Of course not. There is only AC, so if you're cold that's just too bad. The house keepers have no standards to abide by. They replaced the towels and made the bed. You could see where our heads laid in the pillows from the night previous. The host during breakfast was all over the place, people were lining up waiting while she was nowhere to be found. The lobby is a large area with benches and seating everywhere. Still had to wait on a list, to eat in a designated area. I feel like I was in a brand new super 8 hotel or maybe holiday inn at best . My bill was over $400 for 2 nights. Next time I will take my chances in my house during a hurricane rather than deal with the stress of a Marriott, and I am a Marriott rewards member. Never again, Hyatt only.
